@mrsmoreau: Naw beautiful!!
@jetsa: Oh yay! How many are you taking to the hospital? Are you planning to send DH home to wash them?
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@Mrs squirreld: I'm going to bring 18 probably and a wetbag and no I'll just wash them when we get home. we will hopefully be discharged within 24 hours.

@mrsmoreau: I love the crib in the closet! Super cute! And your bump still looks little. Mine is house like lol. So happy you are full term and ready to go!
@mrssquirreld: we are using regular diapers so I am no help to you. Sorry! Your sister's story, along with a few others, has me more freaked out about movement too. I pray nightly that God will keep him healthy and safe in there, just for extra measure.

@mrsmoreau: Gorgeous!! What a great idea to put the crib in the closet...so cute
I had a bit of a fright today at my 36 week apt. They asked if I felt movement, and I answered honestly that no, I don't feel it nearly as much anymore - maybe a few times a day. They hooked me up to the monitor again for the standard 20 minutes. Baby didn't move, the heart rate didn't fluctuate enough, so they kept me on for another 20 minutes. Nothing.
At this point the resident who was attending to me went and got the real doctor, who looked everything over and said she wanted to refer me to the specialist who was on call. Another 20 minutes on the monitor. She started talking about inducing today at which point I PANICKED and started bawling, because DH wasn't with me and I felt so alone.
She said things "weren't good" but the baby wasn't in distress. She was talking about low fluid, cord problems, circulation issues...how being born at 36 weeks shouldn't pose too many problems...I then started speaking in French because her English wasn't great and I didn't feel like she was explaining things clearly. Once we switched to French I realized that this was all speculation and she was just taking precautionary measures.
Anyway, long story short - I had an ultrasound where the specialist watched to see if the baby was practice breathing (apparently a good sign?)...after a lot of poking and prodding it did several 'breaths' so she seemed pleased and said everything looks great.
I was just so worried about the baby's health and the thought of being induced right now freaked me OUT. I think I gave poor DH a heart attack but told him from now on he has to come to my final appointments with me!

@char54: Holy cow what a scary situation!! Thank goodness all is well.

@jetsa: @Mrs squirreld: @marionberry: @char54: thanks ladies! our house is super small, so the crib in the closet is more a necessity rather than a choice! haha. but the curtains make it feel a bit princess-y. i am happy with the way it turned out.
@char54: so sorry you had a rough appointment. I would have been terrified. definitely make your DH tag along from now on! the language barrier seemed like the biggest problem there...

@char54 omg so scary.....glad you switched it up to French and got some clarification!

Ladies, I'm on partial bedrest and took my dog to the vet today well I guess I overdid it because now I'm having pain directly below my rib cage and its not going away. I've been having this pain but if I lay down/change positions it goes away. It's been constant for an hour, what do y'all think I should do?
pomelo / 5041 posts
@jetsa: It's a pre-e symptom!! My doctor said that if I got that pain under my ribs or a really bad headache to call right away. So please call your doctor!
pomelo / 5041 posts
@char54: You poor thing! I would've been so scared. I'm glad that maybe it was more of an issue of language than anything else. This is the reason I use my doppler frequently nowadays. This morning I woke up and realized he hadn't moved much throughout the night so I ran and doppler'd him right away. It always makes me feel like i can breathe again. And I think maybe we all should push for our DH's to come to appointments from now on. We shouldn't be dealing with this kind of stress alone.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: yea it's one I've had it'll just normally go away if I lay down so I just don't want to over-react because its one she knows about....
pomelo / 5041 posts
@jetsa: Well that's good. Just be careful! I had another blurry vision session today but laid down immediately and kept it to about 15 minutes, with just the lasting headache. I'm so thankful that I can work from home anytime I'm not in scheduled meetings. I feel so much better laying down.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: yes I will, you too! Those headaches and blurry vision sound horrible. What time is your appt tomorrow? Mines at 1.

@mrsmoreau: Gorgeous!
@char54: That's terrifying, I'm sorry, good plan on making DH attend all the rest of your appointments!
Today has been a weird day for me... I Feel like babies movements have been super strange and sort of a lot more than normal, to the point that I'm actually sort of uncomfortable so its just been odd, I'm chalking it up to a full moon
apricot / 251 posts
@MrsStormy: baby's movements have been hurting me too lately. I agree, full moon!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: I hate this. I dont feel well at all and don't google symptom and preeclampsia because everything comes up, 4 hours until my appt!
nectarine / 2522 posts
@jetsa: I really hope everything goes well at your appt.... try and relax in the mean time and STAY AWAY FROM GOOGLE!!!
nectarine / 2522 posts
@mrsmoreau: @MrsStormy: Yep I think its definitely the full moon! I have had some crazy elbow action pushing out the side of my belly! SO freaky!!! and the other morning I woke up looking like this!!! lol... p.s. don't worry I have underwear on!

@Mrs squirreld: thank you, I'm trying. My babe is going crazy as well today.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@jetsa: Tell your doctor about it all. I think it's getting worse for you and pre-e is no joke. We don't want you stroking out. Let me know how it goes! My appt isn't until this afternoon.
@mrsstorny: @mrsmoreau: @mrssquirreld: my little one wouldn't stop moving like crazy last night. I wanted to sleep but he was making me so uncomfortable! Weird we're all dealing with it at once after complaining about less movement. Growth spurt?

@MrsStormy: @mrsmoreau: @Mrs squirreld: @jetsa: @marionberry: Yesterday baby girl was doing aerobics or something and it actually made me pretty uncomfortable. Those side jabs are painful!
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: yes, I've got a list going. I'm getting kind of freaked out by it all. We didn't think it was bad Monday, it's not even really been diagnosed I'm still awaiting my urine results which I guess if they come back negative it's just PIH.
nectarine / 2522 posts
Haha yes! Sometimes those side jabs scare the hell out of me when you aren't expecting them!! Lol
pomelo / 5041 posts
@jetsa: With PIH it's just bedrest really, which would be better than pre-e. Fill me in after your appt! Hoping there's no protein in your urine!
grapefruit / 4213 posts
@jetsa: Wishing you luck at your appointment today!!
@Mrs squirreld: I remember the first time I felt a side jab. I was just about falling asleep and I yelled out because I wasn't expecting it. I scared DH and he jumped out of bed lol

What a day! 4.5 hours later and I'm heading home. BP was high so I was admitted to the hospital for more monitoring, everything's fine. Local hospital screwed up the 24 hour urine so I have to redo it. Apparently I was contracting quite a bit.
pomelo / 5041 posts
@jetsa: Glad to hear everything's fine! Other than another urine test, what's their plan for you? Contracting lots? Did they say anything about if you were dilated at all?
AFM, my appt today went pretty well. 50% effaced, but not dilating. I have Group B Strep but I know it's not that big of a deal. And my BP was actually pretty normal. I go in again Tuesday for a check up.
persimmon / 1436 posts
@jetsa: I hope everything is ok! Being admitted to the hospital had to have been a little scary
@marionberry: glad your BP seems to be normalizing!
I had my 36 week appointment today and told the midwife that yesterday and so far today (it was only about 9:30am) I felt he wasn't moving as much...she sent me downstairs to the ultrasound place for an ultrasound and non stress test. NST came back fine, but apparently LO's abdominal circumference is low (doctor said they don't like it when it falls beneath the 10th percentile and his is in the 7th percentile). Basically, since babies store so much of their energy/fat in their little tummies, a baby whose tummy measures so small may indicate that the placenta isn't functioning properly/as well as it should. Everything else looked ok so the doc is having me come back on Wednesday...if he decides at that point baby is "withering on the vine" (his words. I burst into hysterical tears. Who says that?!) then I will go straight to L&D and be induced. This day has sucked really bad.
nectarine / 2522 posts
@jetsa: I'm glad everything turned out fine after your monitoring. Could you feel the contractions?
@marionberry: Sorry about the Group B Strep.. bla! But your right... it's not so big a deal and its better to know its present right? Does this mean you'll have to have an IV for labor?
@MamaMagpie: Oh hugs!!! Firstly... that doctor needs a lesson in bedside manners.. seriously who says that to a pregnant woman. I probably would have punched him.. seriously insensitive choice of words. Glad everything else looks good though. Fingers crossed for good news on Wednesday, otherwise be super excited that you might get to meet your little one NEXT week!

@Mrs squirreld: That's a good question. I'll have to ask my friend who recently labored in my hospital with group b. I woke up to really bad cramps a few minutes ago but now they seem to be gone. I'm hoping this was a one time thing and this baby isn't trying to be born yet!
@mamamagpie: I can't believe your doctor said that! At least now they'll be monitoring lots to make sure he's ok. And if he's born next week he'll be perfectly ok. Maybe make sure you get any last minute errands done this weekend just in case?
Last night we put together all of the remaining gear (cue arguments between dh and i as we screw things up lol) and his nursery should be complete by Sunday. I can't wait to share it with all of you!
nectarine / 2522 posts
@marionberry: Every hospital has a different policy too I guess. I get my results next week I think for Group B strep. I can't wait to see your nursery!!! I am just waiting on our rug and I have to finish a few bits and pieces and then I am done too!! woo hoo. Just trying to re pack my hospital bag now... its overwhelming... I feel like I am packing for a week long holiday!!! But I got some stuff to labor in for the hospital ( I'm not wearing their gowns) so I do feel a bit more "ready" as crazy as that sounds.
grapefruit / 4663 posts
@marionberry: The plan right now is to finish the test I'm completing now and get results and if it comes back negative and my BP is closer to lower today then BP meds and I can go back to work. If it comes back positive, idk. I'm a fingertip dilated she said, they had to check me to release me because they were so frequent.
@Mrs squirreld: Yes I could feel them, I'd been complaining about cramps since Monday and thats what they were, I was just using the wrong terminology. They don't seem timeable or anything.
@MamaMagpie: 1) what horrible phrasing and 2) my kid went from 81st to 38th percentile in 4 weeks, I'm convinced and theres research on it that late stage ultrasounds really aren't all that accurate. Feel better, what a crummy way to make you feel!
