Since my constant nausea has been gone the last few days, I've found myself feeling extra hungry. Which has caused a new problem where I eat with gusto, only to find myself feeling too full and gross afterwards. But the hunger wont let me stop eating. (Coupled with the fact that I feel even MORE hungry after I have a BM because there's more room in there??) Then the extra food in my system makes me thirsty, so I drink more water, which makes me feel even MORE full. And the vicious cycle continues.
Ugh, pregnancy is a hot mess.
apricot / 441 posts
@gingerbebe: hahaha. hot mess, indeed.
I'm hungry all the time now too - and when I eat a full (normal-sized) meal, I get full and pukey again. Very hard to keep up with the small snacks all day long now that most of the nausea is gone.
I've never had a flat stomach, but I have noticed in the last few days that when I lay down on my back, my stomach is no longer concave! It has a little pooch. No more sucking it in for me! This is such an awkward belly stage....really looking forward to 6 weeks from now when it starts to look round!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@LatteLove: Definitely right there with you on the pooch. Can't wait to get past this stage and start really looking cute pregnant! I'm getting this shirt though, because we're going on my husband's company trip in a few weeks, and I'll see a lot of people I know but won't necessarily be able to talk to all of them. Don't want them all just thinking I've suddenly gotten chubby since we moved from CO!

Woohoo! BM#2!!
Sorry for all the poop updates, but I feel SO MUCH better when I'm regular. I think all the hot water and Korean food has been helping!
I was chunky before pregnancy so its not that big of a change for me, but I'm wearing more tunics and flowy tops at work because these maternity pants sorta cup my belly instead of covering it up and flattening it like my regular pants, so the pooch is more pronounced. OMG these $10 Target clearance preggo pants have been saving my life. So comfy.
I have been really into fruit this week. I've been eating an apple almost every day and an orange or grapefruit, plus a banana if I'm hungry. Today I brought a mango and a giant knife in my lunch bag and openly hacked it up on my desk for a snack. Mmmm.
Seriously, not being sick 24/7 is the best thing ever (assuming the baby is fine). I had enough of a break from my illness yesterday to do a Costco run by myself and cook some really fast meals to keep me and DH fed the rest of the week. I threw some pork chops in the crockpot for DH (seasoned with dry rub, cooked on low for 5 hours, then on warm overnight. Will smother in BBQ sauce and broil for a few minutes tonight serve it to him for dinner) and then made a 5 second ravioli lasagna for my lunches (1 jar of sauce thinned with 1/2 cup of water, 1 bag of frozen cheese raviolis, and shredded cheese, layer in 2 layers, bake at 375 for 1 hour wrapped in foil). I even used a disposable pan so I could throw it away afterwards! I had the lasagna for lunch today and it was soooooo good.
Ugh talking about food is making me hungry again. STOP IT!

@gingerbebe: Thanks for the suggestion with the water, I need to try. I've tried every other suggestion and nothing has helped me for 2 weeks. I'm dying.

Hello heartburn, my old friend.
I've come to wince at you again.
Because that pain is softly creeping.
The burning causes me weeping.
And the Rolaids aren't hand-a-ling the pain.
Still remains.
Within the bowels, violence.
I guess I overdid it today with the coffee, fruit, lasagna, and soda. I got home and got SMACKED with bad heartburn. I made myself the ghetto Korean breakfast of champions (and family favorite) - white rice, scrambled eggs, and cut-up hot dog weiners - for a bland dinner. Washed it down with liquid antacid. Currently waiting for DH to bring me back a chocolate milk.

@gingerbebe: gah. Heartburn is the worst. I had never had it until I got pregnant..I thought I was having a heart attack the first time! My husband just rolled his eyes and said 'it's heartburn, silly'. And it doesn't help that tums are so gross. I gag every time I take them. I like your poem!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@gingerbebe: OMG it took me two times reading it to realize it was to the tune of "The Sound of Silence". I LOVE S&G! You are too funny.
And as soon as I read your last line about chocolate milk I had to beeline to the fridge to make some myself. It was divine.
I'm 8 weeks today! I feel like I'm so far behind most of you since I'm the last due date in Sept. But 8 weeks starts to feel kinda legit! I'm not sure why.
Definitely starting to feel more symptoms...some breast tenderness and more nausea. Still not puke-worthy, but enough to feel uncomfortable. And my body just feels. so. tired. For the first time ever I have 3-day-old hair at work. The last time I washed my hair was Wednesday, I just don't have the energy to wash it and dry it! By the time I'm done getting ready in the morning I'm ready to crawl back to bed.
I sorta want to tell my boss already so that I can get away with coming in late and leaving early They're already really relaxed, but I feel guilty doing it without explaining why. I'll probably wait though.
How is everyone else?
pomelo / 5220 posts
So is anyone else having a hard time with what other people are eating? I am normally, not a judgmental eater or anything like that but my co-workers have been eating the grossest things in the office lately! For example, one co-worker has been making parmesan crusted tilapia lean cuisines for a week straight. My other co-worker has been eating cabbage soup 2-3 times per day (not on the diet, she just likes it??) and my boss just microwaved Salisbury steak... Normally I could care less but with my bloodhound nose and waves of nausea, it is not going well! I brought in a candle to try and combat it...

Hi ladies! I am new to the website & already love it! I am due September 16th, cannot wait! We had our first ultrasound last week and got to see our little munchkin and hear the heartbeat which was 167bpm, such an unreal amazing experience! How is everyone feeling? I started to freak out cause I have been feeling pretty good the last couple weeks . I never had really bad symptoms, queasy, peeing alot, tired, sore boob (nothing unbearable), hungry more often. Cant wait to hear from others:)
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@psw27: My coworker suggested sucking on peppermints (like the starlight mints) because the peppermint oil helps settle your stomach and combat some of the smell. Maybe that might help?
So its Day 4 without Zofran and I didn't even gag or dry heave yesterday, so I'm thoroughly confused and worried now. Not that I can do anything about it either way, but there it is. Le sigh. I hope my doppler gets here today or tomorrow.
apricot / 441 posts
@psw27: I leave work at lunchtime for this very reason! I live close so I can usually go home and eat/nap on my break, or I will just run an errand. But I cannot be around the office when meals are being microwaved! blech.
@meg44life: Welcome over here! If you want, go back to the previous page in this thread and you can copy the most recent list of due dates and appointments and add yourself to it!

@meg44life: Welcome! Ditto @LatteLove: about adding your due date and next appt date. Also, the very first post of this thread is a mini questionnaire about you and the pregnancy. Would be fun to get to know you

@psw27: ugh, I have a hard time with what my mil cooks. It stinks sooooooo bad, stuff she cooks for the kids. Makes me really want to hurl. I'm not sure what it is. Sesame oil? Meat? Ugh.
@meg44life: welcome!
@gingerbebe: hope u get your Doppler soon and your mind is put at ease! If you've never used one before, I'd google videos or something. It can get pretty hard to find if you don't know where to look or what it sounds like.
@SweetiePie: I know what u mean, even tho they are great, u don't want them to think u r taking advantage. my bosses were really cool, so I told them pretty early when I was working with the twins.

@meg44life welcome!
I feel so gross today. I'm completely exhausted and having a reall hard time staying awake and I have a headache that's sorta making me feel borderline queasy. I've eaten, I had half a cup of coffee this morning, and hydrated, so I don't know what the deal is. I took some Tylenol, but that didn't help either. I really wish I could go home. 3.5 hours to go.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@sweetiepie For some reason I feel weird telling my boss + co-workers. I don't know why... and obviously my clothes are getting tighter so people will know what is happening soon enough. I just can't imagine going in my boss' office and being like... sooo... I'm pregnant. He is so incredibly nice and will be thrilled, I just think its awkward!
@meg44life welcome!
@gingerbebe good idea about the mints. The fresh linen candle became a bit much after a while!
@lattelove I wish I could leave! My boss microwaved something that smelled like tuna while we were speaking and I had to back away from the kitchenette. I guess my secret will be up if I barf in the middle of the office!!
@tequiero21 oil is a very bad smell to me right now too! I made fish last night and there was a bit of oil in the pan and it bothered me all night, I could smell it up in our bedroom. yuck.

@meg4life: welcome welcome! I'm due on the 14th, so just ahead of you.
I had my ultrasound today! I about lost it because the provider I was supposed to see just didn't show up and no one could reach her. But I ended up seeing someone else who I really liked. We got to see our little gummy bear and he/she was moving all around and waving! So great! So military bases apparently don't do NT scans unless you're high risk so I need to decide if I really want one and then go ahead and switch to a civilian provider. (Civilian = more out of pocket). She did offer us several blood screening tests, which I don't know if I want, either. I tend to be an anxious person and I'm not sure if they would make me worry more. Thoughts?
pomelo / 5607 posts
@psw27: It is awkward! That's part of why I want the shirt I mentioned above for DH's company trip. I don't have any idea how to bring it up without feeling awkward, but these people are my friends so I want to tell them!
@Pancakes: We don't want any screenings because we're not high risk for anything, and my midwife agreed. If there was a perfectly safe test that could tell me for certain if there was an issue, I'd want that. But screenings only give probabilities, and tests that can be sure carry a risk of miscarriage (which in our case the risk of miscarriage is higher than the risk that we have a problem). But I know some people that absolutely want the screenings, and with my first (before we found out we lost it) my doctor at the time just told me I was getting the screenings without even asking if I wanted them. ETA- So glad to hear you had a good ultrasound! (And sorry about the provider no showing!)

@gingerbebe: ugh. the heartburn is SO BAD! if it weren't for that tho, i pretty much have no symptoms, so i'm kind of glad to have it. my ob also said i could take pepcid ac, so i take one if it gets pretty bad.
@psw27: my coworkers heat/eat the smelliest food! luckily, i am far from the kitchen, but i pretty much breathe through my mouth when i refill my water bottle.
i don't think i'm going to tell my coworkers/boss until i'm 20 weeks or obviously showing... i work with mostly older men, and it would be an awkward convo to have with them. i might tell my admin sooner, since we're somewhat close. who knows. i might just "tell" my boss by submitting my FMLA form. ha!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Pancakes: I'm getting the NT scan because I like to see the baby.. and because my friend works in the ultrasound department & I'm hoping she'll sneak me a 3D ultrasound like she did with Chloe. Otherwise, I wouldn't be having it done!
@gksj: ha! That's funny about your FMLA form! What would your boss say?!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Pancakes: We are getting an NT scan for sure because we are higher risk due to my jacked up chromosomes. We won't terminate based on the results, but it would be good to know if I passed something along.
They actually recommend both a CVS and Amnio as well, but I'm going to refuse those...I just think that they are too risky and I'm not going to make any decisions to terminate based on it. We have been through so much and the PGD is supposed to be super accurate, so I don't want to risk anything with those tests.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@gksj: Haha. That's hilarious!
When I tell my employers I'm also giving my 4-5 months notice! So I'm extra nervous about telling them. I want to leave when I'm 7-8 months so that I have some time to relax and prepare. Plus I know I'll just be checked out at work anyway at that point. And I hate my job. Lol.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Pancakes: yay! Glad u got to see your baby today! I'm getting the screening for the same reason as @Mrs. Jump Rope. I want to see the baby! Also, if my baby had potential for Down syndrome or something, I just want to be prepared. I heard it's good to have a doctor for the baby, if s/he had it. I think with the blood test, they have like 95% accuracy. And if all comes out normal, even better!
@SweetiePie: are you going to be a sahm?
@gksj: lol@submit form. Too funny.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@tequiero21: I'm undecided. I don't want to have a "return date" after maternity leave looming over me. I want to go back when I feel like going back. So I'm just going to bid this job adieu and if I want to go back to work after a few months look for something else. I just really don't like the company. It's a huge magazine and it seemed like it would be fun and glamorous but it's so not. I've only been there since Sept and I have wanted to quit since 1 month in.
I am really into the idea of working part time post baby, but there's no way I could do that in my field. So I'd have to do something totally different and I don't know what that would be. Might just be volunteering. But I've also worked really hard to get to where I am professionally and make the money I make. I like being self sufficient.
I've always pictured myself as a SAHM, but I also never thought I'd be having my first baby at 33 after having a well established career.
I just try not to make myself beholden to one or the other, and be thankful that I can do whatever feels right for me at the time.
Sorry for the long answer, it's just something I grapple with often!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@SweetiePie: hehe your job did sound glamorous. U sure u can't work your way up to the glamour? I love being a sahm, but honestly, it's not for everyone. I know some people who went stir crazy staying at home lol. And I think it might be harder for people who have had established careers, but that's just one person's opinion. I was in accounting but I've never loved it, my hubby makes enough for the both of us, and I did have twins, so I wanted to be home for them. I think it depends on the person and the situation. Good luck making the decision! Not an easy one, that's for sure.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@tequiero21: Haha. Well the subject matter I guess is glamorous and there are cool perks. But it's still a job and stressful and annoying.
I think I just have a lot of soul searching to do in the next few months!
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
How's everyone's weekend? Our Valentine's Day was chill. I got roses, DH got a tie rack, and we went to Bible Study. Our friends made a really tasty meal for us! I had a headache all day yesterday that was bad enough to make me puke, but I went to bed and got a lot of sleep. Feel a lot better today. Here's the latest:
1) Fetal doppler came last night but I could not find the heartbeat. I am 10 weeks today, which is when most folks seem to be able to find it, but I think part of the problem is that I'm chunky. I was disappointed not to find the HB, but didn't freak out about it, so that's good. Overall, I'm feeling okay about the situation. Can't change the outcome by worrying!
2) I'm in the office today for a little bit. The busy season is winding down this week and it should be "normal" at the office for a few weeks. Thank God I survived the last month.
3) I had a huge craving for Subway today and it tasted SOOO good to me. DH took my order and made them nuke the meat for 30 seconds and then toast the sandwich, so I think I'm fine on germs. Funny, I always order Subway on wheat or oatmeal bread, but today I was like WHITE ITALIAN ONLY. This kid is on a fiber strike.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@gingerbebe: try looking low, on the right, left and center. Move the wand slowly, and rotate it in a circle before moving. I'm heavy, and was able to find the HB early. My little bug is Lmost always in the same position, down low on my right side!
I have lots of catching up to do! I'm SICK and so over it. Forcing myself to go to my cousins bday party tonight. I woke up today with pimples on my shoulders (ugh!) which is exactly what happened with Chloe right around 11 weeks. My face is breaking out, too. I'm thinking it's another girl!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@gingerbebe: vtines day was very chill. Grabbed lunch and had some takeout for dinner. Yay for not cooking!
Like @Mrs. Jump Rope: said, try real low. Like my baby is like 2 inches from my pubic bone. Was on my left for a while. Yesterday, kept moving around somewhere in the middle. Hb kept going in and out. We knew where the baby was and it still took us a long time to find it yesterday.
apricot / 441 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I've gotten shoulder pimples as well! SO gross. They showed up at 7 weeks for me.
@Pancakes: Glad you got to see your little one!
I've had a majorly itchy belly the past three days and I'm starting to get nervous. I've started using cocoa butter already (my sister gave it to me and told me to start early to have the best chance of preventing stretch marks). Now I'm wondering if I could be allergic? What do you ladies think?
If I still feel itchy and rashy Monday I'll call my dr.
apricot / 441 posts
@SweetiePie: I've been thinking about work a TON! We could survive on one income but it would be a real stretch living in SoCal. My husband would love it if I wanted to be a SAHM, but right now it's hard to imagine not working (I really like my job) and he is supportive either way.
Childcare costs will play in too - there is a child development center associated with my employer but it costs 2/3 my pay! And there is only a FT option so even if they would let me move to PT childcare would cost the same.
So much to think about over the next 7-10 months!
nectarine / 2180 posts
@Gingerbebe: with my first LO, at the hospital's childbirth class all they served was Subway! I was a little surprised by that.
We had my appointment and got to see baby which was a sweet V-day present on its own and then went to see ILs, so we didn't do anything special. ILs are thrilled to be having another grandchild! My next appointment is not for 6 weeks unless I hurry up and switch to a provider who does an NT scan. That seems so far away!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@gingerbebe: I had a Togos craving today and your post made me realize I forget about the meat and ate it uncooked! Oops!
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Me too, so over the sick. I stopped the zofran because I just wanted a break from the side effects. It's such a lose lose situation because you feel so crappy either way.
@LatteLove: I had some new, weird allergies during pregnancy, so maybe you should stop the lotion to see if it causing you to have a bad reaction.
I finally have my first appointment on Wednesday, I'm so excited and nervous all at the same time.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@LatteLove: If you really love your job, you should consider staying! I think that if I loved my job I would stay. Or at least consider staying. Its so hard to find a job that you enjoy! (Or at least it has been for me). I'm not into taking maternity and then quitting at the end, but I think I'd take maternity, go back for a month or so and then decide. Are you strongly leaning one way or the other? We can be SAHM-soul-searching buddies I have a feeling my answer will change constantly!
@Boogs: Wednesday will be here before you know it Can't wait to hear all about it!
@gingerbebe: Let us know if you were successful with the doppler yet! I finally ordered one on Thurs or Fri and it should be here on Tuesday. I'll only be 8.5 weeks but I'm eager to see if I can find it early.
And yay for busy season coming to an end! What a relief that must be.
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@SweetiePie: Thanks! I'm excited for it to feel more real!
Anyone have problems with super bad headaches?
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Boogs: I've only had one day of a super bad headache which I think was actually a migraine. But I don't know if it was pregnancy related or just a migraine.
I hope they go away for you if you're experiencing a lot of them!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@SweetiePie: Just had it for 2 days now. Tylenol doesn't do a thing for it. I've never had a migraine, but it feels pretty rough. Don't know if it's pregnancy related or something else.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Boogs: I know that headaches are a symptom and if you are having them consistently I'd bet its pregnancy related. The only reason I"m not blaming my episode on pregnancy is because it was a one-off...haven't had one since.
Also, maybe if you've cut out caffeine or cut down on it? That could cause headaches near the beginning. Also dehydration?
And my dad used to swear that bananas help headaches So maybe give that a whirl. Just trying to think of everything that could be causing it and might bring you some relief
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@SweetiePie: Thanks, I appreciate the help! Definitely not caffeine, I'm not a soda or coffee drinker. Could be hydration, I know I haven't been great with water. Drinking makes me more nauseous, so I probably have been slacking a bit. I have never heard that about bananas and headaches, but when I finally my system clearer out I'll try.
