@Mrs. Jump Rope: Bahahahaha. Too funny!
ETA: This is the 1,000th comment. Don't know why I just noticed that!

@Torchwood: Um, I bought maternity clothing (albeit Target clearance) at like 8 weeks. I wear these maternity pants to work EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. They are so comfortable. I just pair them with flowy tunic tops and a cardigan and no one can really tell I'm wearing anything different than I usually do. No guilt. Besides, if you buy some now, you'll get to wear them longer and it wont feel like such a waste. I know women who wait until like 7 months to buy some maternity clothes! That seems super temporary to me. And you'll need the maternity pants for a little bit post-partum too.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@gingerbebe: Yeah, when DH complains I need to ask him if he'd rather I wait until I can only wear them for a month or two. Which is the bigger "waste" of money?
nectarine / 2932 posts
@Torchwood: I don't feel guilty/weird at all. I need them now. I wore them yesterday and even my closest friend couldn't tell they were maternity. I didn't wear maternity pants today, just my largest jeans..and it was so uncomfortable! I definitely need to just take the plunge and only wear maternity. Also, even though it's mostly bloat, there isn't much hiding it anymore. I look pregnantish. Or at the very least like I gained 10 pounds in just my stomach. I can't wait to announce so I can just let it all hang out and not have to worry if I look 'too pregnant' every day.
pomelo / 5607 posts
I guess I just feel weird because I'm buying mostly tops. I've been living in mostly yoga pants, and have maternity jeans for when I need to wear something a little better. But all my regular tops are very fitted and I'm not stretching them out if I can help it. And maternity tops are often very obviously maternity, especially since I don't care for the flowy kind.

thanks for the reassurances, ladies! i haven't had any spotting since early afternoon yesterday, so i'm hoping it has passed... if not, i still have my appt. next friday, so it's not too long of a wait.
about the maternity clothes: i just broke down and bought a pair of black pants and a pair of jeans, both with the demi panel. i am just so bloated and sit most of the day and would like a nice comfy elastic waist! i figure, the earlier you buy them, the more use/wear you get out of them! i also got a belly band so i hope to start using that as well.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: yay! glad for a great appointment. glad the hematoma is gone, what a relief!
@gksj: good luck Friday! just wanted to let you know that I spotted a day or two when I was pregnant with the twins. we never found the source either. they just said it wasn't the cervix. hope u get fantastic news!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Torchwood: have you tried old navy's tops? I don't feel like they're obviously maternity & most of mine are fitted.
honeydew / 7968 posts
well, here is my peanut.
so.... when I went in at 7 weeks, they said I was measuring 3 days behind. now, at 12 weeks, they said I'm measuring 4 days ahead. so it jumped one week?! weird. they said it's more accurate now though.
so they said the neck was measuring 2.3, which is higher, but within the normal range. I guess we have to wait for the bloodtest. I went to my new obgyn afterwards and he thinks the neck looks thick. he measured 3, which is right at the cutoff? I think he's trying to push the harmony test on me. have you guys heard of it? it's new and I guess it will one day take over the nuchal and sequential testing. I wasn't going to do it, but I guess I will. better to be prepared. going for the blood work on Monday. so annoying they couldn't just do it then. what's even more annoying is that I could have had it done when I was at the nuchal test. ugh.
anyway, whatever happens, this is my baby and I love it! muah!
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@tequiero21: So cute!! I think having the Harmony test will be more efficient in the end - it will give you definitive answers and you wont be stressing about soft/hard markers, etc.
Okay y'all, the constipation has reared its ugly head again. I am sick as a dog again because of it. Can't eat anything bc there's no room (like I'm seriously burping up hot water) and Colace is not working. Ugh. I haven't even been on Zofran that much lately, what gives!?!? I ate salad for lunch and dinner the night before for dinner, have been eating fruit, taking Colace, and drinking my hot water but nada. Its an odd feeling to be PRAYING that you can go.
Also, I feel like I could fall asleep at my desk right. now. The fatigue lately has really kicked it up a notch!
pomelo / 5607 posts
@tequiero21: So cute! What's the significance of the neck seeming thick?
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I need to check those out. I've only gotten some from kohl's, because I had some kohl's cash and a coupon.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@tequiero21: Yea baby update! (sorry I'm stalking over here again!) I would go for the Harmony test just to check on things. I've heard good things about it!
@Torchwood: I think its the neck fold at the back that if its 3mm or more there is an increased risk for downs.
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Congrats the Hematoma is gone!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@gingerbebe: ugh, sorry about constipation. I can't even imagine. I'm one to go at least once a day. Suppositories? We gave some to my son in the beginning.
@Torchwood: thicker neck is a sign of Down syndrome.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@T.H.O.U.: lol I would stalk the August board, but by the time I found out I would have an August baby, your board was soooo long! Lol. Yeah, wasn't sure about harmony test since it wasn't around when I had the twins, but I guess it's blood work and not invasive, so might as well.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@gingerbebe: oh my heavens I hope this isn't TMI but I was constipated for days again (caved & took zofran last weekend) and yesterday I are lunch at chick-fil-a and the flood gates opened last night. All night. It was disgusting but a welcomed relief.
My scientific research says that Taco Bell & CFA cures constipation.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Mmm, those sounds way tastier than Miralax and Metamucil! Will tell DH.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@gingerbebe: I'm still taking colace. And can I just say I'm STARVING today?
pomelo / 5607 posts
Ya'll are making me feel almost guilty (and maybe a very small bit worried?) with my lack of issues! Constipation is mild, nausea almost non-existent at this point, all I am is starving all the time and a little tired. Surely someone else on here is still having a decent time of it?
Thanks for the explanation on the neck thing, @tequiero21 and @T.H.O.U. I might look into the harmony test thing. I was planning to avoid anything that only gave a likelihood, not definite yes or no, or that was invasive. I don't think we'd terminate either, but I think it would be good to be able to plan.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@Torchwood: We don't have the option for Harmony or other tests like it with my HMO (I think because I'm under 35) but we're doing the full spectrum blood testing and NT scan. We would not terminate under any circumstance so at first we were going to skip all the testing and save the stress of dealing with likelihoods and markers. But our premarital counselor at church is a pediatric cardiologist and he said that its extremely helpful to have the right doctors waiting in the OR if your little one has issues that need to be dealt with right away. So we were convinced to go for it. Plus we get an extra long ultrasound!
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Yeah I've taken 3 Colace in like 15 hours or whatever. I'm drinking weak coffee at the moment to see if it will help.
UGH the prenatal clerk called me about the 3 hour exam. I have to be there first thing in the morning to give a fasting blood sugar, and THEN I have to take the 3 hour test and I am NOT allowed to leave the lab. I have to literally sit in the chair all 3 hours. I can't move, I can't eat, AND I can't drink water for 3 hours. I can't remember the last time I didn't drink water in 3 hours. She was like bring a book. I was like I will stab you in the face.
Apparently I will probably want to die at the end of this, so I have to forcibly eat a small meal before bed the night before and pack a cooler of food to eat the MINUTE the test is over so that I don't keel over.
So not happy.

@Torchwood: You're not alone! I have experienced very little in terms of symptoms... just heartburn and I guess some fatigue (although I also gave up coffee, so there's that). Other than my spotting issue, I've been fine!

@gingerbebe: Diabetes also runs in my family, so I've talked extensively with my OB about it. My OB already ran hemoglobin A1C bloodwork for me which was on the high range of normal. She also went ahead and prescribed me a glucose meter and right now, I'm testing my fasting sugar in the morning and one hour after at least one meal a day. Although it's early in the pregnancy, we are getting the numbers together as a precaution. She says since we're doing this, I won't have to do either of the gestational diabetes tests. Once I'm in my 2nd trimester, I'll meet with a perinatologist for additional monitoring (due to an unrelated high-risk factor) as well as for GD monitoring. I'll also meet with a nutritionist at that time to go over all of the data that I've collected to figure out the best course of action. My glucose numbers have all been normal so far, so I don't currently have GD, but we are pretty much treating me like I do. It's honestly not that bad.
coconut / 8498 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: Oh, man. CFA is doing the opposite for me. @gingerbebe: I'm in the same boat as you. My midwife suggested stopping Colace because it draws water out of you, upping water intake (how? I'm drinking SO FREAKING much), and doing high fiber green smoothies every morning. I haven't started the smoothies yet, but I'm going to soon.
@gingerbebe: You would find out about most of those issues at your 20 week anatomy scan anyway, so you would still have plenty of time to prepare.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@Weagle: I had a friend suggest putting prunes in a smoothie! I didn't try it but she said it really helped her.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: stalking from the August thread, but I had the same experience with McDonald's. completely scientific conclusion, of course! not at all attempting to rationalize my junk food consumption...
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: I am hungry today too!! I'm trying to be careful about carbs until my 3 hour test is over next weekend, so I feel even hungrier! I ate a breakfast burrito this morning (sans most of the tortilla, so mostly eggs and some ham) and then ate Quizno's for lunch (sans the thicker top portion of the bread), so I feel like the meals are so much less filling without all that bulk. Usually lots of protein keeps me from feeling hungry but not during pregnancy! Perhaps my hunger today has more to do with the fact that I had the smallest of BMs earlier and that freed up space in my belly so baby is like YES, FINALLY! FEED ME.
@gksj: That sounds like such a better way to deal with blood sugar issues. I'm more upset about the test than I am just dealing with GD if I have it. All my other markers like A1C came back totally normal, my average glucose number came back normal, and my fasting blood sugar (I've had to do it a lot in the last year because of some other health issues) have always been fine. So I sorta feel like chances are I'll be okay on GD, but making me sit there hungry, tired, and thirsty for 3 hours in a lab seems inhumane.

@tequiero21: sweet little one! I don't know anything about either of those tests so hoping my doctor explains at my next appointment.
@gingerbebe: That sounds really terrible! I hope the three hours speeds by for you Totally unfair to do the glucose while you're still in the first tri!
I have been slayed with MS the past two days, after 1.5 weeks of feeling *almost* normal. I'm irritated and exhausted and gagging at least every hour. If this keeps up tomorrow I'm asking for meds! And I really thought I was in the clear.
I'm wondering if I'm feeling so awful partly because I got a terrible night of sleep last night - my husband got a cold and has been coughing and loudly snoring and we both hardly slept.
cantaloupe / 6131 posts
@LatteLove: Not getting enough sleep is the worst. I feel terrible the next day. Usually if I have a bad night of sleep, I take half a Unisom the next night so that I get a solid night's sleep. I figure since it works for nausea, its a win-win.

@tequiero21: So cute! Hope all your tests end up coming back okay.
@gingerbebe: Mine has yet to go away, it's the worst. I wish I had some advice, but there literally isn't anything that works for me other than not taking zofran and even that gives me very minor success. I failed my 1 hour and passed my 3 hour with flying colors last time, so at least you'll hopefully pass again. But, I'm not gonna lie, I was miserable. I shoved food in my mouth as soon as I could, but I was shaky for hours afterwards and just generally exhausted.
@Mrs. Jump Rope & @erind425: I wish that worked for me, I've tried several kinds of fast food and they all just make me feel more sick.
@LatteLove: I've definitely noticed being tired makes me more sick, so maybe if you get some better rest you'll feel better?
I finally got to see my peanut yesterday and all is well! As for me, I have high amounts of glucose in my urine. I have to test again next week and if it's still an issue I have to do the glucose test sooner. I've stayed away from all sweets, so it was such a blow and I so don't want gestational I diabetes.

I am tired of being hungry! NOTHING I eat satisfies me for long, and I rarely feel truly full, no matter what I eat. It's getting really old.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Boogs: glad u got to see your lo. hope next weeks test is better.
@Torchwood: me too. I get so full so I stop eating. Then get all nauseous. Then, I get all hungry again. Really annoying.

@tequiero21: Thanks! The pregnancy has been rough as it is, so I'm just hoping the rest goes more smoothly like with my first LO.

Guess whose ms came back this morning? Holy shit guys. I'm glad I took advantage of my energy while I could. My house is at least cleanish & all our laundry is caught up on.
We've got plans tonight with friends and finally get to meet their sweet girl! She's three months old now. We've been staying away because one of us always had a cold but we are all finally not sick! Woohoo! I love preschool but hate the germs.
I'm taking Chloe shopping today to help me pick out a few outfits for the baby & am anxious to see how she reacts around her. Chloe has been around babies 6+m, so I'm just waiting for her to tell me this baby is loud!
nectarine / 2180 posts
@Torchwood: @tequiero21: Hah, that is exactly the same cycle I've been going through. And probably also the reason I've already gained almost 3 pounds. With my first LO I didn't gain anything until almost 20 weeks. So sad...
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Pancakes: me too, I gained um.... Like 6 pounds. Didn't gain that much with the twins, but honestly, I was puking like every day with the twins.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: ugh, ms. Can't wait for it to be over, eh? Hopefully, 13 weeks will be the magic number. Good luck with Chloe and the baby! Hope it goes well!

@Mrs. Jump Rope: I'm so sorry the MS came back. I think my MS feels even worse after a few days off because I forget how terrible it is. When it recurs, its like a total b*tch slap and I'm taken aback by how awful it is.
Constipation is still a problem. I took Colace with every meal yesterday and took some Miralax last night with prune juice. Lots of hot water before bed. Nada. DH says I have until tonight or we're back to the enema. I'm going to try another cup of hot coffee in a second.
Holy hormones Batman, I am a weepy mess today. I woke up at 6am this morning because I was having this bizarre dream where I was living in some rural, rainy forest area (like the Pacific NW or something) and I was marrying some man that I didn't really know. I don't know how and why I was marrying him, but I just knew that I had to. We were not in love with each other and didn't really know each other but I was willingly going through with it, even though I was really confused. My actual husband was either dead or not available or something, so I was marrying this guy. I woke up from the dream totally upset and crying, like WHY AM I MARRYING THIS OTHER MAN??? Then I started thinking about whether DH would want me to remarry if he died, which put me into a 2nd crying fit. Then I snuffled into DH's back for a while until he woke up and was just like "what the heck is going on?" I just said "I'm hormonal" and that seemed to satisfy him.
Then when I got to work, I saw some video of a military dad reuniting with his 2 year old by surprising her at her birthday party and I just about lost it.
Yeesh.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@gingerbebe: yes! It's definitely a bitch slap.
I forgot about vivid dreams in pregnancy! With C I would dream (though I swear I was awake!!!!) and see huge bugs crawling across our wall in the bedroom. I used to wake up shrieking & it scared my husband enough that we slept on the couch LOL
Two nights ago I dreamt about an old woman in a prison/mental hospital who was a witch/demon and the psychiatrist from SVU came in to talk to her before she was executed. He started screaming & she killed him.
I woke up with my heart racing and had to pee so I woke up my husband & had him go to the bathroom with me.
I hate nightmares. I'm almost 30 and they still terrify me. I had a hard time falling back asleep!

9 weeks today! I am in awe that the little bugger is 1.5 inches long. That doesn't seem big but when I looked at a ruler I was like "whoa this is not nothing!"
There is no hunger like a pregnant woman's hunger. It really feels like I might die of starvation every 2-3 hours.
I really haven't changed my eating habits that much though, and in the last week I gained 3 lbs. I'm guessing it's the spontaneous boob growth that hit and growing uterus? Does that seem right?
