@tequiero21: How did I miss your scan pic! SO cute! That is a little baby in there! It still just amazes me. I've never seen anything past 8 weeks, which is still pretty blobbish. I can't wait to see the shape of a baby

I'm seriously so tired today. I cannot keep my eyes open. I had soda and a refill at lunch today and I'm still nodding off. Also this "being mindful of carbs" thing is making me SO MUCH HUNGRIER ALL THE TIME. My friend who has diabetes says the first 2 weeks on a lower carb diet is the worst with the constant hunger and grouchiness. I just ate a mini Reese's cup and some baked Cheetos bc I had no other snacks available to eat! I am so ready to go home in 37 minutes.

Just heard the heartbeat on the home Doppler I found it instantly this time (I waited 3 or 4 days since last time) and the little bebe was moving around. So cool! I'm just a puddle right now.

@gingerbebe: ugh, really sucks u can't just take a nap day lol. Hope this is over soon!
@SweetiePie: aren't dopplers a godsend? Seriously, kept me sane when I was pregnant with the twins. Even now, we don't break it out as often, but we will check once a week or so.
honeydew / 7463 posts
@tequiero21: Yes it's absolutely miraculous! And this is officially the longest pregnancy I've had I didn't know I miscarried at 8 weeks last time until I was 11 weeks. The time before that we knew at 7.5 weeks that we would likely miscarry. But to know I still have a heart beating at 9 weeks is just...wow.
I have another ultrasound on Tuesday but this just made my weekend!

@SweetiePie: Thank you! And yay for hearing the heartbeat!
@gingerbebe: I'm trying to watch myself also, what are you doing for breakfast? Nothing has been sounding good to me other than cereal or toast with jam.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!
For those who are getting harmony test, did you know you can find out the sex of the baby?! I get to find out in 2 weeks!
coconut / 8498 posts
So, it seems that MS has decided to just show up. It's only been a couple of days, but this is how I felt when pregnant with LO. LO isn't complaining. She got to eat crackers for breakfast and yogurt and Cheetos for lunch because I don't have the stomach to make anything else for her.
apricot / 441 posts
@SweetiePie: so glad you got to hear the heartbeat! what reassurance.
solidarity with all the rest of you slogging through ms and exhaustion - it has been quite a week for me. Fingers crossed we're close to the end of it!
@Boogs: you were right about not enough sleep = worse ms. I got much better sleep the following night and felt about 50% better. No negotiating on my 9-10 hours each night!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@tequiero21: What?! What is this Harmony test? I wanna do it now just to find out the sex!
@Weagle: Haha my LO has had some meals like that also just because I don't want to smell anything.
@LatteLove: I got to test my theory yesterday, didn't get nearly enough sleep the night before and all day was so rough. Today has turned into a repeat of yesterday because LO was up so early again. I want that 9-10 hours of sleep!
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Boogs: it's a blood test they use to find out if you have any trisomies. Like the nuchal scan, but supposedly more accurate. So not invasive. But just found out they test for gender too! Weird!
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@tequiero21: that test wasn't offered to me! What's the criteria for getting the harmony vs the nuchal?
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@tequiero21: @Mrs. Jump Rope: The test wasn't offered to me either. Doing my first blood test for the NT tomorrow, so now maybe it's too late?
honeydew / 7968 posts
@Mrs. Jump Rope: @Boogs: are you guys in your 20s? I'm 36, so considered an old fogey. I think they like to offer the harmony to people over 35 cuz insurance will most likely cover it. It's relatively a new test, so insurance doesn't want to cover it and it can get expensive. When I went to get the nuchal scan done, they were supposed to get the harmony test done too but they wanted me to call the insurance to see if they covered it, otherwise I guess they wanted me to pay for it. My old doc prescribed it and I was too lazy and didn't want to call the insurance, so I declined it. But then I went to my new ob later and he wanted me to take it, Grrrr. So I had to go today to get my blood taken.

@Boogs: I haven't been that good this weekend bc we were out of town but I eat a bowl of plain nonfat Greek yogurt with berries, scrambled eggs with salsa, or cottage cheese for breakfast. For lunches or dinner I just eat any sandwiches open faced with the top of the bun off or get a salad. I think one carby thing of my choice a day is fine or else I will lose it. I've been eating flavored almonds for snack like smoked or wasabi soy.
OMG I have today off and I am in preggo heaven at Hometown Buffet. I'm sitting here alone eating all manner of odd foods to my heart's content. Spaghetti with marinara, corn, salad, a piece of chicken, fruit salad and they have caffeine free diet coke and sprite zero!! I am eating everything in sight. So happy and worth the small buffet risk. Figure it's a national chain in a busy office park, it should be fine. Dessert bar is calling my name!
*ETA: I realize raving about the mediocre food at Hometown Buffet sounds crazy but I was seriously so happy about an hour ago. I think part of it was that I knew exactly what I was going to be getting there and I didn't have to make any of it. I just NEEDED spaghetti, salad, and fried chicken. Having things exactly the way I want right now keeps me even keeled. I had a hormonal moment last week at Quizno's when they 1) wouldn't put my sandwich on flatbread for me (they only give them to you if you order a specific flatbread sandwich) and 2) they refused to heat up my meat in the microwave because they send it through the conveyor belt. I was so shocked they wouldn't just do what I asked that I stood there stuttering, holding up the line. My coworkers had already gotten their food, so I just got the stupid untreated sandwich and ate it, but I was pissed. My coworkers were livid too - one swore she'd never eat at another Quizno's again. Not getting exactly what you want when you want it right now is so disappointing! Last night I didn't get what I wanted at dinner (it was expensive too!) and I was so sad about it all night.

@tequiero21: I am, but not for much longer. Still not 35, so maybe that's why.
@gingerbebe: Thanks, I want to be extra diligent before my next test in hopes that it will help. I was just saying today that I wouldn't survive in a world without carbs lol. And the food thing totally makes sense, I completely understand where you're coming from.
blogger / coconut / 8306 posts
@tequiero21: I am, yes.. but not much longer!
@gingerbebe: I have food sadness, too. We went to cheesecake last week and I was dying for this chicken sandwich on foccacia bread and it's no longer on the menu.. So I got pasta instead and sulked.
I hate when I get food stuck in my head and HAVE TO HAVE IT, then can't or don't.
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@gingerbebe: @Mrs. Jump Rope: I've been craving a burrito and told DH about it yesterday. He calls me right now and says he had one for lunch. Thanks a lot, not! Rude.

Wow, what a busy thread! Exciting to see there are so many September 2014 mamas out there, I hope there's room for one more?
I'm due Sep 24, expecting my second, live in London, England and am feeling exhausted! Working full time, trying to look after the house, put dinner on the table plus the fact that LO nr 1 has never slept through the night = one tired mama.
Excited to join this thread and see the next 6-7 months through together!

tequiero21: I'm 33
As for food, I refuse to eat anything that isn't carbs. Breakfast is toast and my ideal meal would probably be potatoes with bread. Fruit is ok too but meat and fish is a no no, I'm pretty much 100% vegetarian at the moment. Why are you supposed to stay clear of carbs?

@London Mama: Welcome! Looking forward to learning more about you. There is a questionnaire on page 1 of the thread if you want to copy and paste it

I have another ultrasound this afternoon. This is my first one that isn't before 12pm. I don't know how I'll make it till 3:45 without bursting! Of course I checked and there is still a strong HB, right around 175-180. I've never seen beyond an 8 week ultrasound so I just can't wait!!!!
Hope everyone is doing ok and battling the MS knowing it's for a good cause

@SweetiePie: Excited for you! Is this the NT scan? I kind of wish I had a doppler. I haven't seen the babe since 8weeks and I'm getting anxious!
honeydew / 7463 posts
@Littlebit: Nope, this is just my first appt with my OB since being released from the RE. I'm 9w4d today, so its still a good 1.5 weeks further than I've ever seen. I'm obsessively googling 9w4d ultrasound pics so that I know what to expect
And I do really like having a doppler. Not just for reassurance, but because it makes me feel more connected. Like "hi, baby, there you are!"

@london mama - welcome!
Been feeling decent the last few days. I was traveling on a getaway with friends and it was exhausting! I almost lost it on the plane last night, the woman next to me was spitting the entire flight and finally ended up throwing up on landing. (she was elderly, if I thought it was MS I would have been more sympathetic but she was just being gross... I won't elaborate since we have a lot MS on this board!!) DH didn't understand why I was (silently) flipping out all flight and dying to get out of there! Thank god I had ginger candies with me...
Also, I totally agree about tired = more MS. I got 6 hours of sleep last night and this is the worst I've felt in weeks. Gonna be a long day.
Good luck at US @sweetiepie!

@London Mama: welcome! I think the 2 ladies are trying to avoid carbs because of gestational diabetes. Oh no!@ not sttn. Sounds so painful. Hopefully it'll get better by #2!!

@Boogs: I found this on the Internet - its a nutritional guide on GD and what your meal plan should look like. It actually looks totally doable. http://www.ecu.edu/cs-dhs/fammed/customcf/resources/diabetes/GestationalDiabetes.pdf

@tequiero21: Out of curiosity, did you end up getting the Harmony test because of the borderline NT scan? Or would you have gotten it either way because of your age?
I think they will offer it to us since we are at a higher risk (not due to my age, I'm only 32, but because of my chromosome issues). I know that our Genetic Counselor recommended CVS and Amnio, which are far riskier, so I can't imagine why they wouldn't offer the Harmony. But who knows, I'm just guessing.
I really really don't want to get a CVS or Amnio, they scare me. I think I will decline those.
honeydew / 7968 posts
@SweetiePie: I got it for the same reason I got the nuchal. It's a good noninvasive way to let me know what the chances are of baby being abnormal. Even if harmony tells me I'm high risk, I will not do cvs or amnio. Not worth the miscarriage and we will love our baby no matter what. But good to be prepared. I do think my age does increase chances that baby may have chromosomal abnormalities. The only reason I initially declined it was I was too lazy to call insurance to see if it was covered. They wanted me to do it right then and there. I was like, eh, forget it, nuchal will get me close enough. But since my new doc recommended it, I said fine. That way, I don't have to go back to the fetal medicine place again for the 2nd part of the sequential testing. Added plus was I can find out the sex! I told him if they told me that in the first place, I woulda just done it lol.

Thank you for the warm welcomes.
@Pancakes: LO nr 1 is 1 year and 7 months. With my luck he'll probably STTN for the first time the night I go into labour with nr 2!

@London Mama: Welcome! We are due just a few days apart. I love carbs, so don't want to watch them, but I may have to because of sugar issues.
@SweetiePie: If you're uncomfortable I would decline, but definitely ask about the Harmony as an alternative option. I had my ultrasound around that same time last week. She didn't print me the best of photos but we were able to see such great images on screen so you'll have a great time today!
@psw27: That sounds horrible. I hope you'll be able to at least get a nap today or go to bed earlier.
@gingerbebe: I'll check that out, thanks! Getting tested tomorrow and hoping for good news!

@Boogs: I bet you'll do fine. Tell me how it goes!
So we sent belated Valentine's Day cards to our families to announce the pregnancy last week. My parents got their's first, which is expected since they live in the same state as us. DH's family, because of family politics, had to have a card sent to every single relative (BIL, SIL, MIL, DH's grandma, and aunt). Everyone but DH's grandma lives in the same metro area, while Grandma lives in a rural county about an hour outside the city. Since MIL gets off work at 1pm, we figured she would be the first to get the news, then everyone else would get their mail when they got home from work. We thought Grandma would get her mail a day later.
Well, I guess with the snowstorms, there were some delays in the mail and Grandma got her card first! She got excited and called MIL last night, telling her all about the news. Meanwhile, none of the relatives in the metro area had gotten their cards, so we had a text message from MIL first thing this morning demanding to know if Grandma was telling the truth (and I'm sure she's wondering why Grandma got the card and not her!)
So, announcement fail. Hopefully the rest of the in-laws get their cards today. We just ignored MIL's text and didn't respond.
I am SOOOO tired today. I had coffee this morning and a diet pepsi at lunch and I'm still so tired I had to lay down in my sleeping bag for about 20 minutes! I can't wait to go home and sleep!
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@gingerbebe: Thanks, I will! I'm glad that I will at least get results quickly!
Oops! Hope everyone else gets their cards today!
We told our immediate families this past weekend and said we wanted to wait until 12 weeks until we told everyone else. Yeah, no one listened and got a message from someone and I was shocked to hear the news had gotten around to them when I still haven't told my best friends yet.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@boogs we told our immediate families too and my FIL basically forced us to tell my SIL last night! I was so annoyed. I wanted to just tell parents but he put them on skype with us and was like.... soo...... anything else you want to tell them? Ugh!
@gingerbebe I'm with you on going right to bed.... I am falling asleep at my desk. longest.day.ever.
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@psw27: That stinks! It's a bummer when people can't respect your wishes.
pomelo / 5220 posts
@boogs I made it very clear to not tell anyone (in the nicest way possible...I'm only 11w4d) plus I haven't even told my own brother and SIL... or aunts/uncles/cousins or even really good friends! I was annoyed for sure.
hostess / papaya / 10540 posts
@psw27: We did also, and my mom told someone she shouldn't have and this was before anyone in DH's family knew. Some words were definitely exchanged and I'm still irked by it.
