    @CarrieLouWho: Yay! So glad everything is okay with your little one! It's amazing to see that flickering heartbeat!
    @shortiecake: I have heard that as long as the due date and size are within 5 days, it's okay. Baby might have a growth spurt soon. Also retro vetted uterus is also "normal", and shouldn't affect baby too much.

    My appointment today went well! We got to see our little bean, and hear the heartbeat again! 130bpm. The hematoma has not gotten larger, thank goodness, but it's also not smaller so boo. We're just gonna keep watching it. Dr said baby was growing well. I'm thankful, I almost cried when the tech found the heartbeat. I had some thoughts that I'm not proud of. Next appt is feb 13!

    @shortiecake: I don't have much experience but that is good that you saw your bean! Did they seem concerned? I have heard it is ok to be off a few days... And it is still early. Maybe a growth spurt is coming.

    @FreckledFox: yay for the great apt! I can't wait for our first one (feb 25th).

    I just found out my 2 BFFs are pregnant again and due next July/August! We were on maternity leave together for our firsts and it was such a fun year. I'm so excited we will be off again together for our seconds!

    @FreckledFox: @plantains: Congrats!

    Totally annoyed...I had my first ultrasound appointment scheduled for today at 9:15. I live in the Philly suburbs, so they were calling for a ton of snow that never showed in our area. We got maybe 1-3 inches when they were calling for 14 originally. So I called, and their normal message is on their VM, nothing about the snow. I get no call from them, so DH, LO and I head down there. Get all the way there, and the office is dark and locked. Would have been SUPER HELPFUL if they would have let their patients know that they were closed. So frustrating.

    @2PeasinaPod: ugh, great.

    I have a new appointment with the midwife (she asked if I have found someone else or if I still want to meet her after she stood me up last week, and I was like "uuuhm, yes, I very much would like to meet you please!") but it is not until the second week of february. I have my first doctor's appointment next week, so I think we will have something to talk about.
    I have no real symptoms yet (beside eating all the time and sore boobs, which are better in the morning and get progressively worse during the day) and I am very thankful, as I am finishing up my job (last day on tuesday and we have a huuuuge report to send out before) AND preparing my move on friday...and I am too tired to clean. fun

    @2PeasinaPod: ugh that's frustrating ! I remember driving to our very first ultrasound for DD in a blinding blizzard ... We were crazy and kept coming upon closed roads... But we were determined to see our little peanut! Hope you can reschedule soon.

    So, my office does the u/s first and then a follow-up with the dr in the next day or so. I had my follow-up to the u/s today. I found out that I also have a subchorionic hematoma
    Dr said I shouldn't be worried and they usually resolve themselves, I wouldn't probably even know about it if we hadn't done the u/s so early (I haven't had any bleeding so far). So now I'm on pelvic rest, but no bed rest and a general - take it easy prescription. I go back in 3 weeks for a follow-up u/s to see if it's resolved itself. I've done some Googling and while there seem to be some extreme cases there are also lots of really normal stories where things never get bad.

    @FreckledFox: We can keep our fingers crossed together for good outcomes!

    Dr also left my due date as 9/14... she said she only changes if it's more than a week off. Is it bad that now I want to leave it at 9/18 so I have a few days built in mentally once it's time to deliver?

    @busylizzy111: Good luck with the move - no heavy lifting!

    @2PeasinaPod: That is SUPER annoying!!! I can't believe they didn't notify you!

    @mrscobee: you're right - I am glad I got to see the bean - and the midwife said she saw the hb flickering so that was reassuring. The midwife didn't really seem concerned but she didn't seem overly optimistic either. That may just be her style.

    @hellobeeboston: thank you! that's reassuring! did your little guy have a growth spurt by the next scan?

    @busylizzy111: I'm in the same boat as you re: relative lack of symptoms! I've had zero nausea and/or food aversions - I'm totally starving all the time. I guess we should consider ourselves lucky! and I hope I didn't just jinx myself!

    @CarrieLouWho: rest and take care of yourself!!!

    @CarrieLouWho: My BFF had a subchorionic hematoma with her son and she bled throughout the first trimester. He is a perfectly healthy almost 4 year old now! It's my understanding that if you're not seeing blood, it may have already clotted and started to resolve itself. Hoping that yours resolves itself sooner than later!

    @2PeasinaPod: Oh wow that's so rude!! Sorry you had to make the trek for nothing. Hopefully you can reschedule soon!

    @busylizzy111: Oh, she better not stand up you up again!!!

    @CarrieLouWho: Oh honey, what are the odds of us both having a SCH on this board. (3% of all pregnancies have them actually). It's so scary, but your doctor is right. They could go away, or just hang out and cause no problems. Did they mention the size of yours? Mine was fairly large at 4cm but the doctor is still confident. No bleeding means good things! Just take it as easy as possible. Hugs xoxo I hope they cause us no more problems.

    @2PeasinaPod: Oh that's great to hear about your BFF! Glad she had a healthy pregnancy!

    I went to see my midwife yesterday because I had more spotting and cramping. She did an ultrasound and everything looks fine. I saw the baby and a heartbeat! Yay! Based on the baby's measurements my due date will likely change to be a few days later, but she won't give me my "official" due date until my next appointment. It'll be more consistent with when I believe I actually ovulated.

    So, I rescheduled my ultrasound to Friday at 11. Don't I get a call today around noon from my RE's office saying that I missed my appointment at 11 today. Man do they need to get it together! I called them back, and while they were scolding me, I let them know that I specifically asked for Friday because I couldn't do any other day this week for an ultrasound. They were apologetic, but what a mess! First, they don't show up for my first appointment and then think I didn't show up for my ultrasound! WHY would I skip my first ultrasound?!?!

    @2PeasinaPod: Geez! They are really putting you through the ringer!!! Good luck tomorrow!

    @Somebunny: Glad it went well! Yay for seeing the heartbeat!!!

    @FreckledFox: Seriously - how do we both have this? I think mine is small, but honestly I think I was a little thrown off with the diagnosis that I wasn't completely coherent.

    Hi y'all! Got my BFP last week and am finally joining the boards. Probably won't talk much (not usually my style) but having more folks to be excited along with me will be nice!

    Location: Austin TX

    EDD: Sept 30

    How far along: 5w3d

    First child? Nope; have an almost-3 year old son

    First doctor appointment: March 2nd

    Any symptoms so far? Exhaustion, insomnia, food cravings/aversions, cramping & lower back pain last week

    Who have you told? Parents, siblings, some close friends. We feel it's better to have a fully-informed support network if something should happen, so we're not keeping it a secret this time.

    @kgbee: Congratulations!

    Just got back from our ultrasound! Our little bean is measuring 6 weeks, 1 day and we got to see a heartbeat already at 112. This early on, she said anything above 100 at 6 weeks was a good sign. I couldn't stop crying throughout the whole ultrasound. It's been 18 months since we found out about our first miscarriage after LO (3rd MC at the time). We've been through a lot to get here, and though we're not out of the woods yet, it was so relieving to see a heartbeat this early.

    @2PeasinaPod: So exciting to see everything is ok. Your office sounds incredibly annoying though.

    I am 8 weeks today and had to switch to maternity pants. All the sudden overnight a sizeable bump has appeared. It happened around 9 weeks with my first, so I was kind of expecting it. But we hadn't told people yet, so I show up to work obviously pregnant one day. Super awkward.

    @babynumber1: They're definitely all over the place. I spoke with them again today about what I thought my ovulation date was vs. what they thought it was, and they had that wrong too. They're my RE though, and they've been fantastic up until this point. I'm trying to chalk it up to it just being a tough few weeks for them. They did apologize profusely today over the mixed up appointment.

    And I'm expecting to have to switch over earlier too this time around. Baggy clothes time? My boobs are my dead giveaway. They become watermelons.

    @babynumber1: I was like that with my first pregnancy. I was in maternity pants by 8 weeks. It seemed so early, but was SO much more comfortable. Still only 6 weeks now so we'll see how it plays out this time...

    @kgbee: welcome + congrats!

    @2PeasinaPod: what a great appointment!

    Been having a rough week...still lots of spotting & a constant feeling of worry. The midwife told me Monday to expect more spotting but I keep wondering if I'll eventually need to go to the ER. It's hard to know what's "normal" and what's not. That combined with little to no "typical" pregnancy symptoms has me even more worried. Bleh.

  37. 2PeasinaPod

    pomelo / 5524 posts

    @shortiecake: If it helps any, my RE told me today to expect spotting. She mentioned that some women do and some don't, but the ones who do are spotting because your uterus is growing and bursting blood vessels surrounding it. So, she said not to be alarmed if it's happening, to lay down and put my feet under some pillows and just give them a call.

    How far along are you and have you been in for betas or an U/S yet?

  38. shortiecake

    grape / 94 posts

    @2PeasinaPod: thanks! At my first ob appt the midwife found a cervical polyp and that's what is bleeding. She said to expect more bleeding/spotting and we would wait and see what's happening at my next appt in 4 weeks. I am just worried I may mistake the bleeding as just the polyp and not something more serious. Truthfully I wasn't crazy about the midwife and didn't leave the appointment feeling super optimistic. She said she wouldn't run betas because the spotting "wasn't that much".
    ETA: my first appt was 6w6d. I'm 7w3d today.
