@skipra: @Legowife: @mrsjd: @avivoca: Thanks so much for the reassurance. I am not as worried as I was starting to get earlier. I don't know anyone with a doppler and may just try to wait it out until next week when I go back.

This morning someone assumed that I am pregnant with my first and when I corrected them the realization that I will be a mom to two come sept really set in. I feel like I should have already felt that way, with LO1 I started to feel like a mother while still pregnant. This time I have been so busy trying to keep up with mothering LO1 I have hardly had time to think about what LO2 will be like. I am hoping that finding out the gender will help make it all real for me.

I have defiantly turned a corner and am feeling better, but still so tired. LO1 is still getting up at 5am even with the time change.

@Periwinkle: It is VERY common. It took them almost 10 minutes to find mine at 12 weeks and they said it is hard to find it that early. There are so many noises competing in there. I know hearing the heartbeat is comforting, but try not to worry sweetie. When is your appt?

  4. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

I had my second midwife appt. today and everything was normal. Nothing exciting except getting to hear that little heartbeat again. The only thing that really stood out to me is they are letting me go 6 weeks between this and my next appt. so that I can have my anatomy scan and appt. all in one visit. That means that at my next appt. I will be halfway through my pregnancy...that is freaky!

@tlcbaby: They did that with me last time too! It was super weird.

I am twelve weeks today! I almost made it through the first trimester without puking. Tuesday was not a good night for me.

  7. tlcbaby

@avivoca: I guess if it falls pretty close they just ask if you want to do it? I can't believe I'll be 20 weeks pregnant. SO weird.

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@tlcbaby: They had me come in at 19.5 weeks or something like that...I was pretty close to 20 weeks.

@avivoca: hope you feel better soon!

@tlcbaby: I think I went 5-6 weeks between appointments with my first and it was fine. But totally crazy that you'll be halfway through at your next appointment!

We met DH for lunch today and saw my midwife there. I just thought it was funny - we were nowhere near the hospital or her house (I don't know where she lives just that it's 5 minutes from the hospital! Not a crazy mw stalker!) I don't think she noticed or recognized me and I didn't want to interrupt her lunch so I didn't say anything. Is that really awkward?

@skipra: I think it was a combo of what I ate and it being really hot outside. I felt kind of puny yesterday but I'm feeling much, much better today, despite my allergies to nature.

  11. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@avivoca: I have had a couple rough days too feeling so much worse than I have in a few weeks. I don't know why - feeling better today except a nagging caffeine withdrawal headache (I couldn't stomach my tea yesterday).

And I just realized - 14 weeks tomorrow, hello second trimester!

@skipra: I assembled the stroller and I think you had a kiddo on the bench seat, it'd be really really hard for someone to stand on the board too, they'd have to stand next to the knees/legs of the kiddo on the bench. It's a sturdy, easy to maneuver stroller though!! Maybe you could baby wear and take your older two in it? How old is your oldest? I'd be so hesitant to get a triple stroller, but that's because my LO has been a stroller hater since he got out of the bucket seat snap n go when he was ~9m and into an umbrella. I'm hopeful he will ride on the board because it's almost like he's pushing the stroller from the board and he loves to push! I wonder how much longer your oldest LO will ride in the stroller? Triple strollers look soooo big!!

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Applesandbananas: Thanks for the update on the stroller! It sounds like what I imagined and not a real option for us. We will probably just keep our current double for now and baby wear for longer walks then reassess in the spring/summer. LO1 turns 4 a week before my dd but still loves the stroller. LO2 will probably give it up before LO1. He'll be 3 next spring so that actually might happen.

@skipra: I wish my almost-3 year old loved the stroller. He's a wild child. I feel like I have no control over him most of the time. If he gets more than 10-15 feet away, he can't hear me well enough to come back and often doesn't turn around to see me angrily signing, threatening him with timeout. Lol I'm sure we're quite a sight

@tlcbaby: That's the same timing for me. 12w and next is 19w to get the referral for my anatomy scan. It feels like ages. But I am sure will also fly by. I think 6 weeks between is pretty normal for my midwives for the first half of pregnancy. It doesn't pick up that much until the end. I get house calls from 34 weeks on!

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@maddyz: I am so jealous of your housecalls! I wish doctors/midwives would do that more! Especially if I'm sick, the last thing I want to do is drag myself out to the doctor.

It sounds like everyone's starting to schedule their anatomy scans! When does everyone find out gender, if they aren't TG

3/23 is our big day! It's for an elective though, not a/s

  18. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@Applesandbananas: I'll find out in May. Womp Womp. If T won't be able to be there, we are either going to schedule an elective scan or I'll have them write it on a card and we'll open it together.

  19. Applesandbananas

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

@avivoca: agreed! I took my LO to the ped today and sat in the waiting room for over an hour with a bunch of people wearing masks because they were so ill. I would love a house call over that! The cherry on top was the older couple making loud comments about my kiddo playing on my phone. He's covered in hives head to toe, if he wants to watch surprise eggs videos on my phone, I'm going to let him!

  20. Applesandbananas

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

@avivoca: you should do an elective so H can go too!!

We were talking about the baby in my belly today and he gave me the funniest look, it was a double take at my belly and then a "wtf" expression lol

@maddyz: so jealous you get house calls!

Our anatomy scan is at the end of April. I think the 27th but I have another regular MW appoint earlier in the month too.

I can't decide if this is movement or something else. When I lay down, I can feel the occasional flutter. I can't wait to feel more movement!!

  25. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@Applesandbananas: that is so exciting! I think I felt movement pretty early with my other two but just gas so far with this one! If I am curled up though it's almost like I can feel the baby a little bit - just like there is something in there.

How is everyone's weekend so far? I took LO1 to a bday party and DH couldn't get LO2 to nap because he had a poopy diaper so now he is sleeping on me and I can't move. And I just want some lunch!

@skipra: We are finally able to go out now that H's HFM sores are clearing up, so we have been couch shopping. It's exhausting.

  27. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@avivoca: good that she is better! But I do not envy the couch shopping. We did that like 5 years ago and I hope the one we got lasts forever.

Eta our board seems slower than aug and Oct so I browse through those. Did you say you have cavities? Did they find them at a regular appt or were your teeth bothering you? So nervous about this!

  28. Applesandbananas

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

@skipra: I can't decide if it is for sure or not! I can't wait for the definitive kicks, I loved the reassurance with LO1 that all was well!

Our weekend has been kind of meh. We went to playgroup today where LO had an epic tantrum I left him home with DH to go grocery shopping and stopped at Sonic 😎 I figure DH got to sleep for a solid 12+ hours last night, I can take a quick pit stop for a milkshake haha!

@skipra: I found them at a regular appointment. I'm so annoyed because I had one filled six months ago and surely these were there in some form! They aren't horrible, I won't even need anesthesia, but it's going to be expensive and I have to take a sick day to get t done.

ETA: the couch. Our current couch has been destroyed by my cats and was super cheap to begin with. I am having a bed time committing some serious money to a new one. What if I hate it in a few years? Why are most couches in my price range those awful overstuffed ones (my style is more modern farmhouse)? I also don't want to throw down more than about $800-$1000 on a couch.

  30. Applesandbananas

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

@skipra: I browse those too lol I think they just have bigger groups!

  31. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@avivoca: oh that is annoying. Maybe second opinion? I went to a new dentist who said I had like 7 and then my regular dentist wanted to watch a couple areas.
I am nervous about mine because for most of the first trimester brushing made me vomit which is beyond terrible oral hygiene! I am wondering if I move up my next appointment and pay out of pocket or just wait until may.

  32. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@avivoca: yes to everything about the couch! We got a West elm and it has held up great so far. We actually found it on Craigslist and was only a couple months old. I was skeptical of a used couch but it has been great.

@Applesandbananas: milkshake sounds so good! I have been texting DH to bring me food but he is ignoring me! I hate when nap time gets messed up.

@skipra: weekend has been good so far! Watching lots of basketball. My FIL is unexpectedly with us as his great aunt passed away and the wake is tomorrow and funeral on Monday. But it's cool. LO had swim lessons at a new place today and we love it. The kid was ducking his head underwater and trying to swim underneath! He's a little fish!

  35. Applesandbananas

    pomegranate / 3845 posts

@skipra: I always ask my DH if he has me muted or something because he sucks at responding to my texts! I hope you get food soon!!

@MrsKoala: aww, I'm glad your LO loved his swim lessons! Was that his first time swimming?

@Applesandbananas: no he took lessons at another pool last year and his grandparents have a pool so he's been swimming a lot. He's just never been so adventurous in the pool!

@MrsKoala: That is awesome about the swimming lessons! We start up again a week from Monday and I hope my guys like it half as much!

@skipra: my weekend has been hard. A friend passed away Wednesday and it's really hitting home today. There have been lots of tears. Lo looks at me so confused, I try to tell him it's OK that I am sad, but who knows what a 13 month old understand.

My dad, aunt and uncle stopped by this afternoon, all just passing through NYC. It was nice to see them.

Dh is working all weekend... It's going to be a long one.

@skipra, @avivoca: I am so worried about my teeth, last time I was at the dentist was 2nd trimester with lo1 over a year ago. I need x-rays, but that will have to wait. I am trying to get the guts up to go.... I have such bad teeth. I have cavities that have stated small for years and years, I just keep an eye on them, it's not worth filling them because they are stable. I've had dentists want to do so much unneeded work.
