@maddyz: I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I can only imagine how hard that is. Please take lots of extra good care of yourself during this difficult time. Sending hugs.

@maddyz: My condolences to you. That's so tough to go through.
Well, I am excited to announced that we finally got our genetic testing back and it was normal and we are having a GIRL!
Neither of us had a true gender preference but we are thrilled since my husband's family hasn't had a girl since his grandparents' generation. Feeling beyond grateful for this little lady.

@Legowife: I know nothing about nub theory! I hope someone else does and they can play along!!
@mrsjd: congratulations on your daughter!!! That's so exciting!

@Legowife: I never knew anything about nub theory until recently but have been doing some reading. How many weeks along are you (or when was this ultrasound done)?
@mrsjd: Congtatulatons on your great test results and on knowing the sex! That's so exciting!!!! I think you're the first here to find out????

I hope everyone is doing well today not sure if it's just me but the weeks feel like they're flying by so quickly all of a sudden. We are supposed to go back in the morning to try again to hear the heartbeat and while I haven't been too concerned about it, I'm feeling a bit more nervous now that it's upon us.
Also, I have not been feeling well so I am looking forward to seeing our doctor again. Has anyone experienced any breathlessness/feelings of being "winded" all the time? I am not in bad shape (although, exercise has not been on my radar of late) but honestly, everything I do feels like I have just run a marathon. Even on days when I am not super exhausted, going about my everyday tasks takes every bit of energy/motivation and when I am done, I often feel like I am gasping for air. I have a new cold this week and I am hoping that the breathing is tied to that but I just feel so, so lousy again. Has anyone else dealt with this? I remember feeling winded a lot during my last pregnancy, but way, way later.

@Legowife: I am not so great figuring out nub theory except when it is like the most perfect obvious shot. I thought my NT scan looked like a boy nub but apparently the nub wasn't even visible, haha. You can go to In Gender and post your us photos for guesses. It seems the "regulars" over there are pretty accurate. I have no clue from your pics!
@mrsjd: yay!!!! Congrats on the ! So happy she is healthy!
@Periwinkle: I really hope you hear the HB tomorrow. Fingers crossed for you. And yes, feeling like I get out of breath much easier. Bit it sounds like yours is worse so good idea to ask the doc. I don't remember this with my other pregnancies. And LO wanted me to run with him today and I could feel my butt jiggling.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
I told some other moms from LO's school over the weekend and one of the teachers I worked with today and they were all pretty surprised and asked where my belly was. So that was nice since both my ass and stomach just feel really fat right now. I gained 3 lbs in the past 2 weeks. Yikes.
Anyone else feeling gross about weight gain yet? I know 3 lbs at 14 weeks is not bad but it just feels like extra fat at this point and not at all baby.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Periwinkle: I've been feeling really winded and tired lately too, plus my nausea is back. Good just doesn't sound good but I have to force myself to eat.
@skipra: I've gained about three pounds and I feel disgusting. I am so bloated and gassy. I can't wait until it's more baby than gut, but then all my organs will be squished. Pregnancy with a toddler is just not a lot of fun.
I found it today that we are going to be expected to work while they are painting our entire building and staining the floors. I asked my boss if she had ever stained anything before and she said she just had her floors stained, but she wasn't home while they were doing it. I'm so mad! Stains are incredibly smelly and it cannot be good for us. I wish they would be responsible and let us either work from home or furlough us. I can't afford to take any vacation because that would be less time I would be paid on maternity leave.
pear / 1879 posts
@skipra: thanks so much I'll keep you posted on tomorrow's appointment.
And omg re jiggling parts. This has become the thing I focus on all the time. I have been gaining weight so far (the right amount, I think) so every piece of loose skin, flab (that was totally there before!) looks way worse to me now. I'm just at the point where my normal pants are starting to get too tight so instead of thinking "how amazing, it's time for maternity pants to accommodate this growing baby (!)," I'm thinking "ugh, why do my pants not fit me?!"
pear / 1879 posts
@avivoca: That's nuts about the painting/staining. Do you know how long the process will take? Definitely not safe to be in a room with those fumes, especially stain. How large is your company/work? Surely they cannot force you to be in an enclosed space during this? If your employer pushes back I would speak to your doctor. I'm so sorry you have to deal with the stress of this too
watermelon / 14467 posts
@Periwinkle: They are painting the entire building and won't be on the floor that we are occupying. Then we will move while they do the other floor. We can't open our windows. It's a historic building and the windows are either painted shut or non-functional. I am going to ask the doctor about it at my appointment in two weeks and speak to our CBO/HR person.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@avivoca: that is ridiculous! We refinished our floors when I was pregnant with LO1, had them leave all our windows open and were away for 2 days after and it was still stinky when we went back. I hope your doctor can give you a note or something. That's not OK!
coffee bean / 32 posts
@Periwinkle: good luck with your appointment today! I'm useless at nub theory. The ultrasound was 12weeks 1 day.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Periwinkle: Good luck today! Time does feel like it's moving faster for me as well. I can't believe we are at the end of March already! I also feel winded a lot. I'll just be walking around with my LO outside and I'll feel the need to sit down and catch my breath. I keep wondering if it's part of the nausea that I still have and the fact that I haven't had proper nutrition in what seems like months. I also have no energy either.
@skipra: I'm not loving the size of my "bump" since it isn't even baby yet. It's just fat getting pushed up. I took a pic yesterday in one of my favorite maternity dresses and compared it to last pregnancy and I look like I did at 23 weeks last time (I'm only 15 now). Wah... it sucks. And it doesn't look like I'm pregnant yet. Just fat. I hate hate hate it.

Thanks, ladies! The appointment went really well and we got to hear the HB! I am hugely relieved and glad that we were able to come back to listen for it again.
Also, we received our NIPT results back and everything is normal! I got the call yesterday but missed it due to a crazy work day, then went home sick, and then was too nervous to listen to it last night. Listened this morning and was so relieved. As soon as we walked in to our OB's office, she shared the results she got too and it was great to talk about it. Although we were on the fence about finding out (and I asked the genetic counselor not to leave the information on the message for us), I think that we are going to find out now. Our OB placed our test results in an envelope and I am now walking around with them in my bag. I am SO nervous/excited/scared/in disbelief/all the other feelings especially since I am just coming around to wanting to know. The more I think about it, the more I realize that we already had the amazing experience of waiting until delivery to find out once, and it might be fun to know this time. My husband feels strongly that knowing will help us in telling our son, just so he has a more concrete sense of what's going on. I don't know if I totally agree with that, but I am feeling much more excited about finding out now than I was previously...
Oh, and the being short of breath/winded all the time... apparently that's common and due to progesterone. My OB said hopefully it will let up soon-ish, but that it's not anything to worry about (even thought it's frustrating).
Thanks, ladies, for all of your amazing support

@Periwinkle: I am so happy to have this update! Glad everything is going well and that the breathlessness was normal too. Today is a good day! I'm excited for you to find out the gender (if you so choose)!

@Periwinkle: Good news! Let us know if you do decide to find out the sex and thanks for asking about the winded feeling. That is really interesting! I had never heard of that symptom before and I'm glad it's nothing to be concerned about.

@avivoca: I'm playing catch up. Have you guys thought of making a trip to Ikea. They have some really cute stuff in the 500-700 range.
@maddyz: I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you are feeling okay.
@mrsjd: A girl! How exciting! For some reason, it is so much harder for me to wait this time.
@Periwinkle: I feel out of breath a lot, but it comes and goes. Some days I don't notice it, but if I climb the stairs or talk for a long time (I'm talkative) I notice it. Obviously, I notice it during workouts, but I expected that. Good to hear a good update from you, too!
@avivoca: I wonder if there is anyone you could talk to-get a note from your doctor or something? They painted where I was working when I was pregnant with A and they made me stay home since they knew I was pregnant. Everyone else had to work. I didn't get paid, though.

I thought all my sickness was over after about a week of feeling pretty dang awesome, but it came back on Saturday and I still don't feel back to normal. My stomach is so bloated I literally feel like I could explode. It's just so frustrating because I don't know what set it off. This pregnancy has been admittedly harder than the first and I keep waiting for the "honeymoon" to start. I'm almost 15 weeks...I thought it'd be better by now.
Rant over.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@tlcbaby: I don't think we are going to make the trek to Ikea. I have emailed our CBO/HR person to set up a meeting about reasonable accommodations. I really think it is my supervisor who is dragging her feet, the other pregnant person has been told that she can work in the stacks or work from home. I'm pushing for working from home.

@pelikila: yay!!! Congrats on the !
@Periwinkle: Greay news!!! I am excited to know what youre having! I could not handle having that info so close without looking.
And its so exciting that we have a boy and a girl expected already.
@avivoca: sounds promising that HR will work with you. Good luck!
Ugh so sorry everyone is feeling jiggly with me but it's nice to know I'm in good company.

It's so hard to do this right on my phone.
@skipra: totally hear you on jiggles and I k about like I did at 18w last time, but not nearly as cute little low bump, more like weird pushed out flappy tummy..
Avivoca: you should find out what products they will be using. Most need a ventilated space... Good luck.
I get very breathless doing almost nothing. I think sometimes it has to do with all the extra blood your heart and lungs need to deal with.
Everyone's thoughts have really meant so much to me. Thank you all for your care. Life is short and being compassionate even to strangers on the internet is wonderful.
This time is just flying by....

@pelikila: Ahh! Awesome!
I am headed to a kids consignment sale today to see if I can pick up a few of the baby things we need! We were so convinced we only wanted one child that we donated/sold a lot of stuff.

Hey ladies! I just got caught up on the threads! I've been feeling good and can tell I'm getting some energy back. I started having bad lower back pain! Has anyone else experienced this? It's down by my butt cheek and on the right side, maybe siatic? I have been following up with some doctors for my kidney. I have hydronephrosis of my right kidney so there is fluid around it. This is something we will monitor throughout the pregnancy but I think and hope everything should be ok!
We have our anatomy scan on May 5! Happy Cinco de Gender

Our board is so quiet! How are we all doing? Hope everyone is starting to feel better by now.

@skipra: I'm good! I feel great. 16 weeks 3 days today. Still fit into all my clothes but my high waisted stuff is getting tight! I'm only up about 2-3lbs but it's big difference in the comfort level of my pants. Otherwise, I have to pee at least twice in the middle of the time so I'm pretty sure I'm carrying this kid on my bladder. No real movement yet although I've started to feel weird little things I think MIGHT be the start of movement.
Oh and I posted previously about my low platelet count. I saw a hematologist and she said it's common for it to happen during pregnancy and there is no cause for concern unless it continues to drop, so we will monitor it by doing blood work once a month. So no biggie for now!
How are you?
clementine / 777 posts
@Christy412: Also that totally sounds like sciatic pain. I've gotten it a ton in the past and you can Youtube good stretches for it. It's often related to hamstring tightness. I recommend looking up stretches and incorporating them daily. Sitting for an extended period of time and not exercising is what does it to me. I'm worried about getting it later in pregnancy because I'm prone to it.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@skipra: I'm feeling much, much better now. I think our board person, Applesandbananas, has left HB, so yes, we've been super quiet! I have a doctor's appointment on Tuesday and hopefully will schedule my anatomy scan at that appointment!
