@maddyz: I'm so tired and sore. We bought and installed a toilet yesterday, plus did some hauling (it's junk week, so we are getting rid of stuff). My hips are so sore, by I'm trying to wait until closer to 30 weeks before going to the chiropractor.
My diet is going well. Only a couple of meals where my glucose was really high, but I knew it would be going in and two high readings out of two weeks isn't terrible.
Below: picture of my husband installing the toilet in our tiny bathroom (it's 4x5).

@maddyz: I'm also wishing the 2nd tri energy had found me. I'm soooo sleepy.
So I did my glucose tolerance test and they freaking messed it up by not writing the times on my samples. So now I have to take it again because they can't tell which ones are my pre-drink samples and post-drink samples. I'm feeling very hateful right now.

@MrsKoala: I would be so pissed! Cant they tell by the numbers??? I doubt pre-drink numbers would be higher, right? At least enough to tell you if you should do the 1-hr test again or the 3-hr test?

@skipra: They won't even try to figure it out. I just have to do it again. Sigh.

@periwinkle: Have you left yet for Hong Kong and Bangkok? How's the prep going? I leave for Japan on Saturday and I'm getting nervous about traveling. I already have to pee all the time! Hopefully, my group doesn't hate me by the end for having to go to the bathroom every 5 minutes.

@MrsKoala: oh that is so crappy! I would be raging! I should find out my results later this week at my midwife appointment. I think I also get to schedule my RCS.

How's everyone feeling? I'm 27 weeks tomorrow and can't believe how close I'm getting. I am definitely getting some nighttime insomnia and back tightness but otherwise pretty darn good. Baby girl is moving constantly and I can see it from the outside, which I love.

@mrsjd: Trucking along! Hopefully, I find out if I passed the Glucose Tolerance Test today. I'm about to go out of the country for 2 weeks and I'm a bit nervous that something might go wrong while I'm away but nothing more than usual anxiety. Glad you are feeling good!

Hey Mammas! I'm 24 weeks and I definitely have been having some braxton-hicks the past 2 days. Everyone says it's normal as long as they're not increasing in frequency, or pain. I've been trying to drink more water but it's still scary! Has anyone else experienced this? Baby boy has been moving like crazy as well!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Christy412: Definitely normal! I never seem to drink enough and so get them frequently. You just have to make sure you slow down and drink more!
I can't believe we are all about to enter the 3rd tri already!

@Christy412: I get these too! Mostly at night when my bladder is full or I'm really thirsty.
grape / 83 posts
@MrsKoala: I feel like I'm drinking SO much water already but obviously not enough! Yesterday by 11am I had already had 60oz of water but had 4 within an hour. I'm trying to drink even more.

I'm doing okay. Baby girl has moved off of my sciatic nerve, so I haven't been having as much hip pain. Other than that, just trying to get through the summer travel season and keep my glucose down.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Christy412: I had a ton of BH with my second. Just make sure to sit or lie down whenever you can and remember to pee!
@MrsKoala: Hope the results are fine and have a great trip!
I am doing great! 26 weeks tomorrow and I have to take the glucose test next week if I can figure out a time to do it. It's the last week of school and activities so we are busier than normal. Is it really bad if I put it off a week?

@skipra: Thank you! That makes me feel better! I have my glucose test next week. Hope I pass!

@Christy412: What do they feel like to you? Sometimes I think I might be having them, but I'm not sure.

@tlcbaby: I feel a tightness in my belly. I can feel it's harder for a minute. Today it was just an uncomfortable tightness but no pain. General back ache.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@Christy412: Maybe that is what I feel. My belly doesn't feel harder to the touch, but it feels tight and kinda like I have butterflies in my stomach!
nectarine / 2280 posts
@MrsKoala: woo hoo! Congrats! It's such a relief to have that over with.
I passed my test too! I should be finding out my RCS date soon.
These hormones are getting the best of me. Spent the first half of the day in tears which is super awkward as a teacher. Anything someone asked if I was ok it would start. The nicer they were the more I'd cry.

@MrsKoala: I am SO sorry for this ridiculously late reply. I cannot believe how nuts it's been and this is the first time I have had to sit down and write in 2 weeks.
I'm actually on my way now! It was a crazy work week and then with packing, bringing the dog to my parents' so the solo time is easier for my husband (my parents are a few hours trip away) and just general life, I'm almlat relived to be sitting in the airport on my way. I obsessed over what to bring (well, that's not new for me!) and this was a harder tiro to pack for than the others I've done and the one I did at the same stage of pregnancy last time. I just worried about the minutiae this time much more. But I'm relieved to be done and on my way.
How was your flight?! How are you feeling?! I'm so excited to hear about your adventures and more about what you're doing. Also, congrats on the glucose test!!!! I have mine when I get back.
And to all- I've missed you! My work changes have really affected me in more ways that I could have imagined. The stress has been unreal and it's been hard to sit back and relax. I've had one of those months where I feel like I just can't turn off after work and it's affecting me negatively. I have tremendous guilt over so many things...being exhausted with my son, basically spending no solo time with my husband in the past few weeks, and letting this pregnancy go by so quickly while I'm focused on everything else including my work which just seems so counter intuitive. I know that that's normal, especially for a second pregnancy, but I can't help but think I'm giving this pregnancy less attention than my last. Obviously it's different and with a 3 1/2 year old it would never be the same as my energy is divided, but it's just hard to come to terms with the fact that it's going so quickly and I am so less in the moment with it. I am hoping that the alone time I will have the next few weeks will help. Work will still be nuts, but at least I'll be on site and not dealing with constant fires and headaches from afar!
Wishing everyone a wonderful rest of the weekend and I'm looking forward to being more active again.

@Periwinkle: how funny we are leaving basically on the same day. I just made it to Tokyo. The flight wasn't too bad although I had to get up and pee like 6 or 7 times! I'm traveling with a group from different colleges visiting universities in Japan to learn about their education system. What will you be doing on yours? My MIL was just in SEA and says it's crazy humid and I thought of you when she was talking about it. Stay hydrated and cool and have a great flight!!!

@Periwinkle: @MrsKoala: hope you both have great trips!
@katsupgirl: yay for passing and how exciting you'll know when you'll get to meet baby soon!
Going to try to go for the glucose test tomorrow but it will depend on traffic because I have to drop off and pick up LO1 from school which doesn't give me much time. Hoping to just get it over with.

Just had my glucose test this morning! I hope I pass! It felt like I ate a huge piece of cake but I was still hungry!

Just got back from my 24 week appointment! Everything looks good. There was a bit of a snafu with my glucose numbers because I'm keeping them in my phone and they weren't sure if they would be able to print them out (eye roll), but it happened. A is doing well, kicking a lot, HR was 160, and she's positioned exactly like H was, which is why my right hip/sciatic nerve hurts so much. My BP was good and they are expecting me to deliver early, but I really hope she stays in until September 30!

@avivoca: Good! I haven't been able to start testing yet because I didn't know there is a new key code I need for my meter. So now I'll be more like 28 weeks by the time I can start testing! I really don't want to wait that long.
Are you going to the chiro or PT? I am going to the chiro today because I am starting to really feel the sciatic pain with this one.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@tlcbaby: You can buy a meter at Kroger for like $12 and then a bottle of test strips for it (Kroger brand) is about $12 for 50, which lasts about 11 days. That's what I did this time so I didn't have to fool with coding. I'm trying to wait until closer to 30 weeks to go to the chiro because I only get 20 visits per year and I'd like to go after I have the baby too.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@avivoca: I wish I'd known that! I am waiting for the new code chip to come in the mail now. I'll be on a ten hour plane ride tomorrow so I really want to see if they can help my back at least a little before we go.

@avivoca: Glad your appointment went well!
I'm so sorry about those experiencing sciatic pain. I have it pre-pregnancy and have had a little but shockingly it hasn't been bad. However, because I can only sleep in two positions (right and left side) I'm getting a lot of middle/lower back tightness. It's better after I work out (which is getting increasingly difficult), but I might start hitting up a prenatal massage every 2-3 weeks soon.
Oh! And I have my 1 hour glucose test tomorrow - pretty nervous about it given the amount of weight I've gain in the last month.
clementine / 777 posts
@Christy412: Yay! Just got my results back this morning! I passed. My blood sugar was 85, so on the low end. I was pleasantly surprised given (1) my recent weight gain, and (2) my love of sweets during this pregnancy. So ice cream for lunch. My belly was measuring right at 27 weeks and doctor said my weight gain is fine so I'm trying not to worry about it. I'm 28 weeks tomorrow! Third trimester, I'm coming at ya.

@mrsjd: Yay! I have such a sweet tooth as well! I pretty much do all the time but maybe I'm indulging more now I'll be 26 weeks tomorrow!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@mrsjd: @Christy412: yay for passing the test! I also feel like i have gained a ton and it seems to happen in spurts around times that I eat sweets so I was really nervous about the test but found out today I passed. Hooray!
So I'm starting to get a little nervous about baby's growth. People are starting to comment on how small my belly is which is what happened with LO1 and he was IUGR. My belly was huge with LO2 and he was pretty average (just under 8lbs). I was already measuring 1 cm small at my 24 week appt so I'm pretty sure tons of growth scans will be in my future
How is everyone else? Fun weekend and Father's Day plans?
watermelon / 14467 posts
@skipra: My belly is huge but I've only gained eight pounds. Apparently, I don't look pregnant from the back.
Today is a major suck fest. H had a hard morning and when we got to daycare, she wouldn't pee on the potty, she wouldn't pull up her panties/skirt, and she didn't want me to leave. So I left, because I have to work, and my child was screaming "MOMMY" and sobbing. She wanted me to come back, but I needed to go because I can't be late. Then another mom asked my husband how old H was and when he said "2.5," she said "Can't wait..." I felt like the worst mom ever and cried all the way to work.
clementine / 777 posts
@skipra: I think people can't really tell (or don't know what they're talking about size-wise). I have people telling me I look small all the time and I've gained 16 lbs at 28 weeks. My belly is measuring right on track at every appointment and she was actually 5 days ahead at her 24 week. But! I understand your fear with a prior IUGR diagnosis and will be sending you all the positive thoughts/wishes. Because this is our first, husband and I decided not to celebrate Mother's and Father's day this year and to wait until we have her next year.
@avivoca: That is rough, I'm so sorry. You are a good mom, I know it. Hang in there.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@avivoca: Awww what a tough morning! I'm sure the other parent was just commenting on kids in general and certainly nothing to do with you or your parenting! But it is SO hard when they are leaving and crying for you. Usually they calm down and are fine once you're gone so I hope that's what happened. And it's almost the weekend too!
@mrsjd: Thank you! The IUGR situation was so scary so I'm sure otherwise I wouldn't even give a second thought to any of the comments. I took a bump picture and my belly looks huge and certainly bigger than with LO1 so I'm just going with that. We didn't celebrate Mother or Father's Day when I was pregnant with LO1 either so I totally get it.
