Hi Everyone! I'm brand-new here, so I feel as though I have a bit of catching up to do!

I'm due 9/16/16 with our first child- a girl! So far, all has been fine & easy...currently hibernating in the air conditioning because I can't seem to handle the heat as easily as before.

    Glad to be here!!

@emc: welcome! We are nearly due date twins!

@skipra: My MW felt the head by my ribs at my last appointment! This baby has frequently been breech at my ultrasounds but I've felt some major movements at times and know that it was baby flipping all the way around. I can also kind of tell as I feel frequent movements in my cervix area and I'm quite sure that it's a foot I feel!

@emc: Welcome and congratulations!! Enjoy that A/C! I'm pretty thankful that our summer in the Northeast so far has been hot but not dreadfully humid but I'm sure that is about to change. EEK!

@emc: welcome! I'm definitely trying to hibernate inside too this summer.

Anybody else getting the pertussis (TDAP) vaccine? My midwife recommended I do that in the Thit'd trimester sooner than later to give baby extra protection because of recent whooping cough issues.

@katsupgirl: I didnt get it with my first baby and wont be getting it this time. Its only effective if you and your husband and grandparents and everyone who sees the baby in the first 3 months or so also gets it. we just kept her home as much as possible and minimized exposure to people until she got her Dtap shot

@MrsKoala: my blood pressure was low at my last appointment and my midwife said that this is the low point for bp in a pregnancy and it's normal. I have to stand up slowly and i can't lie on my back for very long with out getting a little dizzy.

@katsupgirl: I didn't. Did she just mean in general or have there been a lot of cases in your area. I go in next week at 30 weeks, but they haven't said anything so far.

@emc: Hi! I am due the day before you. The heat is getting to me, too! I tried to do some yard work last weekend and got overheated. I was tired and out of it the rest of the day.

@tlcbaby: I think there have been outbreaks in Brooklyn. I haven't paid that much attention I've been focused on Zika.

@katsupgirl: I'll get mine in the hospital. That's what they did last time.

It's way too much to think about. It wasn't an issue with my first so it didn't even cross my mind this time. Ugh!

@katsupgirl: I got the TDAP for my last pregnancy, which was 2.5 years ago and apparently it's effective for 5 years so they told me I could wait if I wanted. I might just get it again anyway just to be careful.

@MrsKoala: do you remember when in the pregnancy you got it?

@emc: welcome! We are due date twins

@katsupgirl: I got the TDap with both of my kids and plan to with this one as well. It was my understanding that getting it while pregnant will pass on some of the protection and why they recommend it for each pregnancy. With my first I got it earlier than they like (Memorial Day for a Sept baby) because I was due for a booster and got scratched pretty bad with a rusty wire. Second pregnancy was at some point in the third trimester. With my first all grandparents and DH also got it.

How is everyone? Hope you all have fun summer weekend plans!

I am 30 weeks today - how did that happen!?! Had my appointment this morning and am now measuring 2 weeks behind. It sounds like they will probably decide I need a growth scan sooner than the one scheduled at 36 weeks and we'll decide when at my next appointment. Also yesterday and last night I was feeling weird movement and it appears that baby is now transverse. Off to do some spinning babies exercises I guess!
    Hope everyone is feeling well!

@skipra: I'm 28 weeks tomorrow! WHERE HAS THE TIME GONE??? I finally got some decorations done for their room and bought new curtains. The other ones were ugly as SIN and were just up because I needed black-out curtains ASAP... two years later, I bought new ones haha. I still need to finish my parents quilt and then I can start on one for Baby A. We are also finally going to look for cars and got our bank financing in order. I'm probably not going to get a van (sob) because I'm just not willing to pay more than $200/month for a car with double daycare payments too.

If anyone wants to stock up on diapers, get thee to Target either today or tomorrow. They have a good deal going where if you buy 2 boxes of specific types of diapers, you get a $10 gift card. Also if you spend $150 in the baby section, you get a $25 gift card. Diapers were also 10% off in Cartwheel and I used my red card for an additional 5% off. All in all, I got 6 boxes of diapers and and some wipes along with $55 in target gift cards.

@MrsKoala: that's what I am today! I better make an appt this week. @avivoca: @skipra: oh my goodness I can't believe how close I am now. I'm kind of excited for the newborn stage but that's probably just the crazy pregnancy brain.

  22. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@skipra: is the growth scan usually at 36 weeks? I never had one the first time and they are having me do one at 32 weeks this time. I asked if it was because my first LO was big and they said partly but I think the other reason might be that I have negative weight gain still.

@MrsKoala: I finally up about 8 pound, but its taken me trying (lots of ice cream)...

Lo1 is cutting modulars and has been a terrible sleeper. I went to my parents "to get a break" and hardly slept. The last two nights I woke my mom up at 2 to take a turn.... I can't put my head around nursing all night right now. I am trying not to think about it too much and just trust that somehow it all works out and I won't die from not sleeping.

Lo1 is fully in his first mommy only phase and that's not helping. I think he knows something's up.

This bean is doing flips these days. It's crazy how much he's moving around. Pretty sure his heads mostly down and a little on the right side by his butt flips sides a few times a day.

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@maddyz: hopefully he's done with the molars by the time baby arrives. The not sleeping thing is killer especially with the newborn phase to look forward to. It's just straight survival.

@maddyz: oh molars are awful! Hope they come in quickly and you can get some rest!

What big ticket items do you still need to get to prep for baby? I was hoping prime day would be useful for that but not so much. I still need to get a car seat, stroller?, new pump. Can't think of what else I might need.

  27. maddyz

    persimmon / 1270 posts

I think I have most of what I need. Still gathering clothing and I need to prep some cloth diapers to expand our stash for two. I've been slowly collecting things used or on sale and I still have a lot of the great from lo1. I've started doing some nesting, the second crib is in Los room and the basenet is in our room. Slowly starting to feel like a baby might be on its way.

I've had a busy week at work this week, lots of on my feet and up and down stairs. It's really taken it out of me. I am just slow, no way around it.

    How are you all doing?

  28. avivoca

    watermelon / 14467 posts

@katsupgirl: I need to get some shelves and bins for storage in their closet. All of the big ticket things are accounted for, with the exception of a bigger car. I don't know what we're going to do on that front, we have financing in order but we might need to save up a bigger down payment.

  29. katsupgirl

    nectarine / 2280 posts

@maddyz: I feel you on being slow. My waddle is in full effect! My DD called me on it the other day- "Mama you walk slow, right?" Right, baby girl, right.

@avivoca: I need to figure out the clothing and closet situation too. I need a plan before I just go crazy at the Container Store and Ikea.

  30. skipra

    pomegranate / 3350 posts

@katsupgirl: Since this is #3 the biggest things we need to accomplish are getting a car to fit the baby (done!) and moving LO2 into his big boy room (not even started!). I also need to check that our infant seat is still in good condition, will fit in the car, and buy a new headrest thing for it because we lost our other one. I got a new convertible car seat on Prime Day and am considering strollers that can be used as a triple but we will most likely wait until spring for that and baby wear for the winter.

@maddyz: How are the molars treating your LO? LO2 still has 9 teeth to come in, including his 2 year molars and I am seriously dreading it!

@MrsKoala: It's funny how everyone's pregnancy is so different. You need a growth scan to make sure baby is not too big but you can't gain enough weight. I need a growth scan to make sure baby is not too small and have already gained nearly 25 lbs! I would love to give you some of the weight from my arms, thighs, and butt if I could. And yes, I was supposed to have the scan at 36 weeks but I'm sure they will schedule it for asap at my 32 week appointment.

@skipra: they are never ending..... we had one night of sleep two nights ago, but we are back to no sleep. Of this batch we are only missing 1 but he is also missing a few eye teeth so who knows....

    @katsupgirl: @maddyz: @avivoca: @skipra:

Well, our biggest ticket item is that we're closing on a house and moving this week! Very exciting, but my morning and evenings have been FILLED with packing. We had our shower last weekend and got most things I felt I needed, but we will still need to buy our stroller. I found a brand new (in box) City Mini GT, the stroller I wanted, on Craiglist for $250 so that's what I'm going with! It's about $100 off retail so yay!

@katsupgirl: I think I'm going to do what I did in the other closet and put up a few shelves on each side (they are deeper on the sides) for toys, shoes, etc. and leave some hanging room above. Honestly, we don't have a ton of clothes that we hang, but I do need a place to store the clothes in the next size, especially for A.

@skipra: I know it's amazing how it varies from person to person or even just how different pregnancies can be in the same person! This time last pregnancy, I was up probably about 15 lbs and had SPD really badly. I also carried really high and this time the bump is really low. It's weird.

  35. MrsKoala

    cantaloupe / 6869 posts

@katsupgirl: Double stroller is the big one that I've been really hesitant to pull the trigger on. It's just so expensive and I'm worried that I won't use it that much so I might hold off. I can probably get away with my old pump but I desperately want one that is quieter. We'll see! We moved DS to a big kid bed and moved the baby's furniture over to the new room. We're having that painted at the end of the month and then we just have to wash everything and we'll be ready (I hope).

@maddyz: I'm soooo slow now. My husband told me I'm starting to waddle.

Not much going on here! I finally have a replacement for my maternity leave set up so I feel really good about that. Now I just have to make it to at least August 28 without having this baby (work obligations that only I can do). I'll rest pretty easy after that!

@mrsjd: Congratulations on the new house! Packing and moving is such a hassle but it's a great way to purge the clutter.

@maddyz: teething is brutal! How are you staying sane?

@avivoca: Great way to use the sides of the closet!

@MrsKoala: I really want a second pump that I can leave at work. This time I'm working further away from home and my mommy brain has gotten worse. If I can leave one at work it would be one less thing to carry and think about.

  38. maddyz

    persimmon / 1270 posts

@katsupgirl: I am not sure I am... I keep thinking about how I will be able to handle the new born days again because those teething is killing me. I keep reminding myself that I won't be pregnant anymore and there are amazing hormones that help with night feeding.

@MrsKoala: I need to look into getting a second pump too. I am hoping I can get something smaller then the one I have now and with a good battery option. But I'll end up with whatever my insurance covers.

  39. tlcbaby

    nectarine / 2750 posts

@skipra: I was also measuring two weeks behind at my 30 week appt. Weird. So far, they said it could just be because the baby hasn't turned head down yet so they didn't seem worried.

@maddyz: I hope you are getting more sleep! I remember the first time being surprised that I wasn't more tired. Like, I was tired, but I feel like in my past life if I got such broken sleep I wouldn't even be able to function. Maybe it was all the coffee!

@katsupgirl: I still need a new crib mattress, but that is the only big thing. Although, I'm sure I'm forgetting some stuff! I do want a new diaper bag, but that is more of a wish than a need. Can you get a pump through your insurance? I applied for mine today.

Oh, also I found out the doctor I had a not so great appt. with just had her baby so she will be on maternity leave when I have my baby. Zero chance I will have to deal with her in the delivery room!
