@tlcbaby: That is awesome news! I'm glad she had her baby AND that she will be on leave when you give birth.

I moved the crib around to the other side of the room today. H is a little freaked out by it, but her mattress is coming on Saturday and I need to get the twin bed set up in there. The room will be kind of tight because we have typical 1970's small rooms, but Imm planning on adding closet shelving for bigger toys (I'm looking at you, MegaBlocks) and additional clothes/toy storage.

@tlcbaby: I haven't even thought about a crib mattress. I think the one we have should be okay still. Insurance won't do the pump which is a bummer. I was looking forward to that.
Also, success for you not having to deal with awful doctor!

@maddyz: the hormones help and knowing you don't have to be a completely functioning adult at work also helped with night feedings. I imagine having your oldest around might complicate things a bit but keep hope alive.

@MrsKoala: My parents saw the Target diaper deal and also had some coupons they could use. We got 6 boxes of diapers for $20!
I can't believe I'm 30 weeks today! WOW! Time is going so fast! I had my first baby shower this past weekend, we got so much great stuff! The nursery is pretty much set up, just finishing touches here and there. I had my second follow-up ultrasound last week and baby boy's kidneys are still dilated. They assured me this is VERY common with boys and is one of the top things they follow up on with babies. I'm not completely worried because I have the hydronephrosis in my right kidney so this may be hereditary! We have a 3rd follow up ultrasound in 3 weeks and will figure out a plan for the rest of the pregnancy and also when the baby is born. Other than that, I feel great! This really has been a wonderful pregnancy! Hope everyone else feels good!

@katsupgirl: I thought we could reuse our mattress, too, but A jumped on it so much that it is totally broken!
@avivoca: Thanks I'm sure it would be fine, but I definitely prefer to have someone in there that I have a good relationship with.

Ahhhh only 8 weeks left for me. Where did the time go? I can't believe it. On that note, I started leaking colostrum a little bit over the weekend. That definitely did not happen to me the first time!
nectarine / 2280 posts
@MrsKoala: so crazy how different each pregnancy is! I definitely am experiencing stuff I didn't the first time.
In other news I'm battling a summer cold. Coughing and Braxton hicks are not a good combo.

@Mrsbells: It's going by soooo fast!
I had my growth scan today! Baby is 60th percentile and he or she FLIPPED!! YES! No more breech baby. I had felt some crazy movement on Monday in the shower and was hoping that was it and it was!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@MrsKoala: Awesome news!!!! I also found out on Tuesday that A had flipped to head down.
I have 10 weeks and 2 days until my due date.
Also, more appointment updates: My 3rd Trimester bloodwork was awesome, so I don't have to take iron, my glucose numbers have been good, and I haven't gained any weight in 4 weeks but I'm still measuring on track, so the midwives are really happy. I can't wait until maternity leave.
Also, because we are nuts, we are moving H to her big girl bed tonight. Please, please, please sleep baby girl. Mama is tired. My husband is home so I am going to send him in there to deal with any wake-ups.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@avivoca: Crossing my fingers that it goes well for you! We did the big kid bed transition last weekend and it has been shockingly easy so far. Here's hoping it will be the same for H!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@MrsKoala: I think it will go well, but she will be able to get out now so we've been talking a lot about how she will need to stay in bed at night. I also need to secure her bookshelf to the wall (the last remaining piece of unsecured furniture) tonight before bedtime.
persimmon / 1270 posts
@avivoca: I am just hoping LO1 can stay in his crib for a while longer. NOTHING but bars will contain that child.... Good luck with the transition.
I'll be 32 weeks on Friday, I am still shocked I am getting toward the end. I have an appointment tomorrow which will be nice. I am a little low on iron so have been taking that, it sucks.
My heartburn is out of control the last few days.... It's killing me.
Little bean had hiccups again... they are so low I am pretty sure he is head down, but feet keep sticking out all over the place so I am not confident.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@maddyz: Honestly, I'm surprised she hasn't tried to climb out yet. We had one night where she was "NOT TIRED MOMMY" and hooked her leg over the side, so I know that she can in theory do it. I'll let you know how it goes.
watermelon / 14467 posts
Also, every time I get up from my chair, I have Braxton-Hicks contractions. Those suckers were uncomfortable last time; this time they are bordering on painful. It's nowhere near what it felt like with my first early labor pains with H, but it kind of gives you that "S*** just got real" feeling.
persimmon / 1270 posts
@avivoca: I think the only reason he hasn't climbed out is I dont ever leave him in there long enough to figure it out and he sleeps in a sack.
I am feeling the super BHs too. One last night took ages to relax. I was walking too fast in the heat, does it every time, I almost sat down on the sidewalk but didn't want to get attention.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@avivoca: Good updates! We went ahead and moved A into his big boy room so we wouldn't be doing too much at once. A couple of nights of confusion, but he loves it now.
I am having a lot of BH this time, too--it doesn't hurt, but everything feels so tight. I think the baby being sideways is making all the movement and contractions more uncomfortable this time.

Umm I just saw the "August 2016 Labor Watch" thread and thought "Oh shit, we are next"! I know I technically have two months, but it really is almost here. A few of them have had their babies already.

@tlcbaby: Yes, it's a little freaky, especially because I have 10.5 weeks to go!

@MrsKoala: yay for a great scan! So happy the baby flipped for you. I think mine is still transverse most of the time but is still flipping around a lot so hoping s/he will get in position soon too.
@tlcbaby: I think they have July mama's in their group if it makes you feel better. But yeah if an early Sept mom goes at like 37 weeks...that's in like 2 weeks, right?
pomegranate / 3350 posts
We still haven't moved LO2. Our visitors will be here next week and then we'll be away for almost 3 weeks so I guess after that. My next appointment is Friday so fingers crossed that my belly is actually growing now and I won't need a ton of monitoring until the end.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
How is everyone? Anyone have updates?
I went to my 32 week appointment Friday and was still 2 weeks behind but baby is now head down! And I had a growth scan today and I am so happy that baby seems to be growing fine, around 40th percentile. Good news all around! Now if only this heat wave would quit...
Hope you are all staying cool!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@skipra: Well, H seems to be doing okay in her big girl bed. She hasn't asked for the crib at all and she stays in bed until we come and get her. This heat wave is brutal! It got up to 78 in our house on Sunday and that's with the fans on, lights off, blinds closed and the windows drawn. I was only out long enough to let the dog in and out. We bought a table fan yesterday and aimed it at the thermostat to trick it into thinking the house was cooler and it seems to be working.
9.5 weeks left for me! I'm almost finished in the girls' room. I got my closet shelves built this weekend and there is SO MUCH ROOM in the closet now. I also unpacked all of our diapers, NB/0-3/3-6 month clothes, folded the sheets (everything was already clean), and we put more supports under H's bed. Now T needs to raise the crib up so I can put the crib skirt on. The carseat has been washed (my cat is sleeping in it though) and we are thinking about putting our car search on hold for a little while.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@skipra: Yay for head down and 40th percentile! Not much new here. Miserable in the heat, feeling huge. I've got another work trip for a couple days that I really don't want to do but oh well. Only about 7 weeks left of work I guess.
clementine / 777 posts
@skipra: That's wonderful news! I'm it's a huge relief for you. I hear you on the heat wave. It was 81 here with like 100% humidity when I was on my way to the gym at 5:45 a.m.
@avivoca: I'm glad H is doing well in her big girl room. You are so much more prepared than I am! We put the crib together yesterday but her room is basically in shambles and boxes.
As for me, I have 6 weeks and 3 days left until my due date. I feel pretty good, some mild discomfort mostly due to back stiffness. Going to the gym this morning helped a lot. My sleep is total crap, serious insomnia. I actually lost a lb between my 32 and my 34 week appointment so I've had a pastry and ice cream today. Otherwise just hoping this girl stays put until the bitter end.

@skipra: That's awesome--I have my next appt. tomorrow. Hoping I am measuring back on track. My weight gain seems to be fine, so I think it'll be okay. Glad you had a good appt!
@avivoca: I cannot deal with this heat much longer. I feel guilty keeping A inside so much during the day, but I can only stay outside for short spurts and then I need a break.

Ladies! I feel like a broken record when I explain my sporadic posts but I have really missed being out of the loop here... and all of you. I've been checking in periodically but life has gotten, well, just nuts again. It's hard to believe that we are nearing the end and I am excited to get back into posting more and seeing how you're all doing.
I am going to be 31 weeks tomorrow and all in all (baby wise), things are mostly good. I feel HUGE most days but am hoping that I am still on track. I am waiting for the weight gain to take off because it's been much slower this time than with my first pregnancy. I have been dealing with a crazy amount of stress these past few months-- same issues with my job as I had earlier in the summer but perhaps now with a possible resolution in sight-- and trying to stay on top of eating. All in all, my doctor is not concerned and I'll be curious to see where I am at next week's appointment. Baby is so incredibly active and I am loving almost every minute of it... except right as I am about to try to sleep!
My one real complaint of late has been some discomfort and pain in my back. I think it's all normal but just annoying. I need to get back to yoga to see if that will help at all.
@skipra: So happy that baby is facing down and growing so nicely! This heat is also so incredibly tough to deal with where I am (NY area) and I'm finding that to be one of the toughest things to contend with this time around. I am trying to be so much better about drinking water and have found a solution which is working for me at least for the moment. My old water bottle was awesome but not insulated and halfway through I would just sort of put it aside. I bought a Hydro Flask and am in love, as much as one could be with a water bottle I am finding a big difference in how I feel compared to how much water I am drinking.
@avivoca: I am so jealous to read about everything you've done to prepare for the baby! I have so much guilt and frustration about the nothing we've done so far. We are still having some repairs done to our home and I am hoping that, as long as we have everything set and ready to go, once the repair work is done (hopefully by the end of August, gulp!), we can rearrange what needs to be moved and get the nursery set up. I am just so nervous leaving everything until the very end and it's not sitting very well with me. I've been following your car search and hope that it's a stress reliever to you to put it on hold-- looking for a new car can be exhausting!
@MrsKoala: I hope this is a much closer work trip???? I'm sure you're ready to just be home. It took me a good week and a half to recover from my work trip to Asia in June and I hope you got back into your routine more quickly than that. Cheers to so few weeks left before your leave!
@mrsjd: I hear ya on the back stiffness. Not like I've been in many weeks at this point, but I found that the stretches I was doing in yoga helped a ton. I am so glad you got some relief from the gym. And now I want an ice cream and something else sweet!
@tlcbaby: Looking forward to hearing about your appointment tomorrow
@maddyz: I just read your comment from last week about iron. I have the same thing and started on a supplement last week. I already feel a difference which is nice. I am also hoping it helps me feel more energetic too.

I had a great appt. today. Gained two pounds since last week and measuring right on track! The baby is still transverse, but she said they don't need to see that baby is turning head down until 37 weeks. I go back in two weeks and then it's every week until the end!
They also said there is basically nothing I can do about my acne, which is worse than when I was a teenager. The only thing keeping it calm (it won't go away, but it at least isn't red and angry) is cetaphil gentle wash and lotion and this essential oil type of neosporin that I have. I can't wait for my hormones to go back to normal.

@Periwinkle: Glad you are feeling mostly well. I hear ya on not keeping up. I read the thread all the time, but sometimes I don't respond for a while.

@tlcbaby: I'm glad you had a good appointment! I ended up switching from Burt's Bees soap bark cleanser to Say Yes to Cucumbers sensitive skin cleansing milk and moisturizer. It's definitely cut down on my acne, so maybe give it a try if you run out of what you are using?
nectarine / 2750 posts
@avivoca: Ooh I might. I tried the cucumber cleansing cloths and they burned my skin so I haven't tried any of the other ones. But the cleansing milk sounds more gentle.

@tlcbaby: glad you are measuring on track! Have you tried that inverse position on spinning babies where you are upside down off the couch? I did it for 2 or 3 days and the baby flipped from transverse to head down. I still do it daily and baby has stayed in position. And sorry about the acne. Mine was really bad for a while and just randomly cleared up. The Clarisonic was the only thing that helped.
@Periwinkle: Glad things seem to be going well! I have been dealing with sacrum pain. Not fun! Bouncing on the exercise ball and cat cows help a little. Good luck with the work stress and hope it resolves soon!
Sorry I will try to respond to everyone else soon but I have to run. Stay cool everyone!
nectarine / 2750 posts
@skipra: Don't tempt me into spending more money on skincare stuff. I'll try that spinning babies position because, honestly, I think a lot of my discomfort is coming from the baby being transverse. It always feels like it is trying to push its way out of the side of my belly!
pear / 1879 posts
@tlcbaby: So happy you had a good appointment! It's all so real for me when I start thinking about the weekly appointments which are not that far away. Glad to know that your doctor is comfortable with the transverse position for a few more weeks.
@skipra: Thank you! The cat cows are helping a ton... I always love doing them but the first few now always hurt, so I put it off! Great suggestion re the exercise ball... I will try that again.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@tlcbaby: Yes, transverse is SO uncomfortable. My quality of life improved when she went to head down (though I'm worried that she might be trying to squirm back based on what I'm feeling on the sides).
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Periwinkle: just a quick trip to western NY! Glad that work will hopefully settle down for you soon!!!
Is anyone getting nausea coming back??? I've had like 2 good weeks and then I started throwing up again this morning.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@MrsKoala: I find that if I don't eat, it tends to creep back in. It's lovely considering I have the diabetus, so I can't just snack all day like I used to.
I'm almost 31 weeks and it feels like her head is shoved down into my pelvis. I don't remember feeling like this until closer to 37 weeks last time.
pear / 1879 posts
@MrsKoala: Very glad you're not going too far afield! Still, not fun to be away from home when we're feeling uncomfortable.
Oddly enough, I have had some nausea this week too which cam out of the blue. Making sure I eat helps (I'm sorry, @avivoca:!) and getting enough water and rest.
I hope everyone is having a good day so far. I am like the complaint factory today. For some reason, I cannot get comfortable anywhere. I have been trying to work standing and sitting (in every variety of pretzel-like posture too, might I add) but my back is just so unhappy today.
