@skipra: The size comments make me crazy. I carry really small, I did with LO 1 too and he was 9 pounds.. There is SUCH a difference in how people carry and really only what your doc has to say counts. I find the body comments to be really harmful and hard to handle. Being pregnant seams to give people a pass on comments that are totally out of line. Someone told me yesterday they thought I had worms and should be check because I am "so small" really???? IUGR is so scary, but that's something for you and your doc to figure out and no business of anyones else.

@katsupgirl: I took my rings off this week because my fingers are getting puffy by the end of the day. I wan't nearly this swollen with DS1, but I think that might be the difference between a winter baby and a summer baby.
The last few weeks (including this one) have been pretty crazy at work. But soon I should get a little bit of a break.
Next week is my glucose test.... oh so much fun.

@maddyz: I miss my rings! My first was due in October so I spent that summer swollen as well.

@katsupgirl: My daughter has a sinus infection, so no one is sleeping well. I'm so tired.
Baby girl is punching my cervix right now. OW.
My friend just got a 2015 Kia Sedona and I have major minivan envy. My husband is so anti-minivan but I puffyheart love them.

I'm in love with our new minivan. I'm so much more comfortable. It's harder to find a parking spot but that's a small price to pay.
@avivoca: I hope she gets better soon. Sinus infections are the worst!

I bought a going home outfit. Has anyone else gotten one yet? It's nothing fancy; just a sleeper from Target but I'm glad to have it off my list! I feel like we don't really have to do much before baby comes now except get LO2 into his new room. But if that doesn't happen it's not a big deal since we'll keep the baby in our room through the winter anyway. How is everyone else doing with baby prep?
@avivoca: Are you getting a new car too? I thought you were shopping. We got a new one and never even looked at any mini vans even though I insisted we'd check them out since there is so much love for them!
@maddyz: Good luck with the glucose test!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@skipra: We have to get a new car, there's no way the four of us plus our stuff could fit in our Versa, especially for any kind of trip. We are in the process of getting things together to get a loan and I'm insisting that we test drive vans and smaller SUV's.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@maddyz: My DH wants an SUV with AWD/4WD. We don't do any off-roading and we don't get tons of snow/ice here in KY.

@avivoca: From our research, Honda seems to be the best for car seats. I wish we had gotten a CRV instead of our last Toyota because then we would not have needed to get a new car this time around. A Toyota mechanic actually recommended we get a Honda!

@skipra: I got one, too. It's a little onesie with bikes on it and some little pants to match. It's kind of a robin's egg blue so I think it'll be cute for a girl or a boy.
nectarine / 2750 posts
We are doing a preliminary car search, too. We just paid both off so I'm not ready to jump back in yet, but I guess we will be getting the dreaded minivan eventually, so we are doing some research. I'm still holding out for a third row SUV, but it seems like the car itself and the gas would be much more expensive!
My great blood sugar experiment has begun! I'm on day 4 and so far everything seems normal. I haven't had anything abnormally high and I have an appt. tomorrow. I am hoping they won't make me do it for another week, but I will if they want me to. I guess I'll be going every two weeks now, too!

@tlcbaby: I am trying to convince my husband that a minivan is the way to go. He wants a 4WD SUV. I want something my toddler can climb in to because it's getting harder to lift her and I would also like to find something that I can haul more than just our family in.
nectarine / 2750 posts
@avivoca: I think I'm on board, but I bet thought I would get a minivan!
@MrsKoala: How was your trip? How was the flight? I think you could be right about people just not having babies in those areas--we were in the bigger cities in Italy and I don't think that is where most people are raising families.
I had no idea we would be doing so much climbing! We climbed so many domes and bell towers and I certainly got a lot of funny looks for being pregnant, but te views were worth it!
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@tlcbaby: Japan was great! The flight was long but not too horrible. I felt bad for everyone else since they had to watch me get up and pee about 8 times each flight. Haha! How was Italy? Where did you go? We did a lot of walking as well! I got tired much easier than I'm used to but I felt pretty good for most of it.

@tlcbaby: Yay your blood sugar seems normal! Hope you don't have any more issues with your practice. That outfit sounds really cute. Love the robin's egg blue color. And yes, the gas mileage is terrible on our "new" third row SUV. If we didn't need 4WD and Toyota was better with car seats we probably would have gone with a mini van too...although there seemed to be better deals on the SUV's, at least used.
@avivoca: I know you are leaning towards a van and it doesn't sound like you really need and SUV but fwiw, my just turned 2 year old can climb into his seat of our new, massive SUV.
@MrsKoala: Welcome back! Glad you had a great trip!

@skipra: H is still tiny, but I mean climb in from the ground. Everything he wants is tall.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@avivoca: Yeah my guy is tiny too - like 20% for height and just turned 2 last month. We have a Pilot which is ginormous and he manages to get in from the ground.
ETA not trying to push you in that direction just letting you know in case it becomes a battle you can't win!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@skipra: No, I'm being stubborn as hell and if we get an SUV, it's only going to be because I test drove them all and decided to get one because it was the right car for us. If I'm going to pay for this thing (we own our car outright right now), I want to like it and be happy with it.

Anyone else have a lightheaded feeling lately? I've been drinking my water and eating as much as I need to but feel like my head is floating.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@MrsKoala: Yes and I think it's mostly tiredness but I also have kind of low blood pressure too. For me it feels kind of like the really out of it feeling that I get as a migraine hangover and it's worst when I am most tired. The midwife just told me it's extra important to drink a lot of water with low blood pressure.
clementine / 777 posts
@MrsKoala: Yes! But typically only when I'm really tired or after I exercise. The amount of water I have to drink right now is ridiculous. It could be because it was 83 degrees and 100% humidity at 5:45 a.m. when I was on my way to the gym. This is the part of the year it sucks living in the deep South.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@skipra: Yes, that is exactly what it feels like! I'll up the water intake then and see if that helps!

@skipra: That might be my issue too! I've always had low BP! I gotta up my water intake.

Okay second time moms. I have a question. My family typically takes a ski vacation in January and we stay at a friend's house (so it's very cost effective). My baby will be 4 months old by then. Am I crazy to think of travelling with her then? I wouldn't go without her.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@mrsjd: Not crazy at all. They are actual super portable at that time period and traveling is pretty easy since they are not mobile yet and don't need much to be entertained. I'd go if I were you. We did a week at the beach at around 4-5 months with our first and it was a breeze!
ETA: My only caveat is that if you decide to breastfeed, you'll still be feeding a lot around that time so just be prepared for that!
watermelon / 14467 posts
@mrsjd: It's definitely doable and not crazy. I took H to the inlaws for Christmas when she was 11 weeks old. If you BF, you will be feeding a lot and you might be stuck inside a lot with the baby, but it sounds like fun!
ETA: We took H to the beach for a week when she was 6 months old and yes, it was a breeze. She napped on the go, I could hold her for naps, and I could just pop out my boob from my bathing suit whenever she needed to eat. It was awesome. Now she needs tons of toys, food, and only naps in dark places in the bed, so it would be more stressful.
clementine / 777 posts
@avivoca: @MrsKoala: Thank you both! That's kind of what I was thinking, she'll be little but also still captive and not mobile by then. The flight is long but not horrible. My husband will be with me so I feel like we can do it together.
I'm planning to still be BFing by then. But because I have to go back to work before, so I'll be pumping and bottle feeding. My mom will be along so my husband and I might get a little alone time too, which will be nice. That said, I'm not planning on skiing much if at all. If I get to ski, great, but she's the priority. Plus, it'll be great time to just relax with my mom and the rest of the family. I love it there!
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@mrsjd: definitely do it! We traveled with both of ours when they were 3-4 months old. They basically just sleep the entire flight and hang out during the trip. Usually I think they'll still nap on the go or in a baby carrier so it's probably the easiest time to travel with kids.

Ok ladies, had another ultrasound this morning. His kidneys are still dilated I have to have another one in 4 weeks. I guess the good news is that everything else looks normal. He's a little big for his gestational age, he's 3lbs (I'll be 29 weeks) I just hope everything is ok! I've been reading a lot of stories about similar cases. I have hydronephrosis of my kidney so there's a chance he could have it as well. I'm worried now and hope everything is ok.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@Christy412: Oh I'm so sorry to hear that! Hopefully it resolves before the next ultrasound in 4 weeks. That is good regarding his size! I will be crossing my fingers for you!

@Christy412: Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear this! I hope that it resolves soon and that everything is okay.

We had our follow-up ultrasound to check on A's kidneys yesterday. The size difference was very slight, but it was still cause for concern. I'm happy to say that her kidneys look perfect and she is on track with her growth. Stubborn girl is sideways right now, but it won't be a problem unless she's still transverse at 34 weeks. At that point, I'll have to consider either having an ECV or probably a c-section, since I'm not sure I want to do ECV.
Also, the painter asked me if I was having twins today. I told him no, and he asked me if I was sure. I'm pretty sure my eyeballs started twitching.
cantaloupe / 6869 posts
@avivoca: Argh, what a jerk that guy is.... It's so frustrating. This baby is breech right now but they told me not to worry until we do the 32 week growth ultrasound (which I did not have the first time but apparently, I need to have it this time since my kid was huge). I'm getting a bit nervous about it. Have you been looking at Spinning Babies at all? I think I'm going to try some of the exercises and do some extra walking to see if I can get baby to turn.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@MrsKoala: I haven't yet this pregnancy, but I did find my Empowered Birth binder from the last one and there was info in it about that. I will probably start going to the chiropractor soon anyway to see if they can get her to turn. Transverse is hella uncomfortable because she keeps punching my cervix and I have a backbone in my ribs.
pomegranate / 3350 posts
@Christy412: I am so sorry to hear that. Sending you lots of good thoughts and wishes that they will go down in the next 4 weeks.
@avivoca: Ugh I hate the size comments!!! I'm sure I mentioned before that this idiot I used to work with asked me if I was sure I wasn't having twins - after we had found out baby was not growing enough and I was measuring a month behind. Everyone else only commented on how small I was so really, just take it with a grain of salt.
@MrsKoala: @avivoca: Hope those babies turn for you both! Aside from ultrasound, how do you know what position baby is in? I'm pretty sure mine is head down but I was certain LO1 was transverse and he was head down. I think I can feel the butt up at the top of my belly and hiccups lower so that's all I'm going by.
watermelon / 14467 posts
@skipra: Well, my midwife palpates the belly to see where baby is. Other than that, I thought she had moved because now I'm feeling kicks on both sides of my belly as well as underneath. My shape has changed too.
