Yesterday, DH decided to gamble with the kids bedtime, and instead of waiting until J was asleep he walked in with N while he was still trying to settle.... But even after 15-20 min of distracting each other, the kids fell asleep! Whew. I thought we were in for it and was annoyed he "went against the grain" of what's been working, but now we have peace of mind knowing that even if we do put the kids down around the same time with them both awake, it'll still be fine. +1 for daddy.

@Adira: the nom nom nom thing is so cute! How is Xander feeling today? Is it overwhelming trying to keep up with the nebulizer stuff?

@ALV91711: Is Isaac feeling better today? Were you able to get some rest too?

@QueensBee: good for Pete!! Hope last night made 5 straight days of 12 hr sleep.

@Pumuckl: hope your night was better! How did the vaccinations go?

Smurfette: How's R doing today? Is she feeling better? Hope she gets some good daycare naps in too!

@blackbird: that's a good point. Sometimes it can be hard to tell the difference between colds and allergies. Mine are pretty bad right now.

Hope ALLL the sick babies are feeling much much better today!!

@Mrs. High Heels: That's awesome that they both fell asleep without issue despite essentially going to bed together!!!

Xander was in a pretty bad mood this morning, but it was probably because I woke him up. And changed his diaper. And outfit. And gave him his inhaler. And put him back in his crib. LOL!

So far, keeping up with his meds have been okay. I do his inhaler in the morning and Hubs gives him amoxicillin before daycare. Then daycare does two doses of the inhaler. I do prednisone when we get home, and right before bed he gets more amoxicillin and another dose of the inhaler! But tonight's the last dose of prednisone!!

@Adira: whew, that's a lot but glad it hasn't been too bad! Yay for his last dose of prednisone!

    @Adira: So cute!!!!
@Mrs. High Heels: Score one for Daddy!! R is ok, her lip is almost healed. She had a 2 hour nap on Monday but still had a complete meltdown that night on the drive home. She just wanted to be held all night and was so tired. Yesterday the bad napper is teething, he was crying when I picked up R, so I think that was the reason for the hour nap. So we had another meltdown in the car and she fell asleep. So it was 8 before she went to sleep and I had to wake her up at 630 (luckily she went back to sleep after her 545 wake up). I really am ready for the new day and not having to do this drive with her.

Ahhh- I am so far behind....

@Mrs. High Heels: score for dad!! Glad to hear they can go to bed a the same time- such a time saver for you guys!

@Adira: glad to hear that Zander is feeling better!! Poor lil guy

@Smurfette: When are you switching daycares- sounds like it will make life much better for both of you guys!

Nothing exciting has been happening here- except I found out I am 5-6 weeks pregnant! Whoops! Apparently we aren't going to need fertility treatments for #2. I told DH and he was shocked- and is now excited. (although he hates the idea of a Christmas baby because the baby wont get to have a good birthday) I got a blood test and they said 5-6 weeks- but am going in on Monday for a dating ultrasound to find out more info! Then setting up some OB appts. I still cant believe it- its crazy to think we are going to have another child.

@cheert16: She starts June 2nd. So 3.5 weeks left of the drives. At least the end in site will help me get through it.
So excited for you!! @Adira: and you due in the same month.

BTW, last night I stood at one end of the drive and DH at the other and R ran back and forth between us for a good 15 mins. She thought that it was the best thing in the world. If you need an activity to get out some energy!

@Mrs. High Heels: Wow, that is an accomplishment! Can Mr. High Heels write a guest blog post on how he got two babies to sleep in the same room within 20 minutes? I can barely get one baby to sleep, I am going to need all the tips I can get!

Sadly, the twelve hour streak was broken last night. He woke up around midnight, which was when his Motrin was due to wear off. I gave him some more and then he fell asleep right away but woke up at 5:30am instead of 7am. It wasn't a terrible night but not a glorious 12 hours straight like the others!

@Adira: Wow, that is an intense routine of meds! It's nice that daycare will administer some of the meds, not all of them do. Glad he's feeling better and I hope he's hungry to nurse later today so you don't have to stress over your supply.

@Smurfette: Sorry that it was such a rough night. You guys only have a few more weeks until the closer daycare, right? I love the image of R racing back and forth between you and DH. Must be so nice to have him home to play in the driveway!

@cheert16: Congratulations! What an awesome surprise!

@QueensBee: Sorry no 12 hour last night. Teething?
She starts June 2nd. R is in hog heaven with DH home. When we get home and she sees, her smiles melts my heart.

@QueensBee: sorry the streak broke! Ah kids... Just when there's some predictability they change it up again. there have been a few guest posts I've been asking him to write since forever! Sigh. I'm thinking after a week or two of this to make sure the transition sticks, I'll write a post that incorporates all of this.. And list out some of the successes and failures.

@cheert16: YAY!!!!! Mine's due in December too, so we'll both be going through all the same things, including the age differences!!

@Smurfette: OMG, I can just picture R running back and forth between you!! So cute!!! Xander was doing something similar last night, but he was running (well, walking fast - he doesn't really run yet) between one end of the living room and the other end of the kitchen while I "chased" him and he was just laughing! I got exhausted, haha, but I was glad to get the energy out of him!

@QueensBee: Yeah, I was really worried they wouldn't do the inhaler and someone would have to stay home with him all week, but I guess other kids have asthma and stuff and they have inhalers, so they were fine with it!

Bummer the streak broke for you! But at least he went back to sleep after another round of motrin!

@Mrs. High Heels: we actually weren't able to vaccinate because of the virus infect going on which came with a slightly elevated temp this morning this is the third time we had to postpone it... We still went to the pedis to get the cough checked out though but we were doing all the right things anyway so we're just supposed to continue what we were doing.

@QueensBee: sorry about the rough night. Hope tonight Pete goes back to 12h of solid sleep. And isn't teething the devil?

@cheert16: congrats on the pregnancy! So exciting and you and @Adira should definitely do playdates with two LOs the same age

@Smurfette: the running back and forth sounds soooo cute!

@Smurfette: So cute!! We don't have driveway but will try it inside for naps for the weekend. Those are the hardest!!

We made it through the day of daycare and work with no puke. He still doesn't have his appetite back, but they made sure to give him plenty to drink. About 10 min after we got home he was ready for a bath and bed.

@Adira: nom nom nom, way too cute!! That is a lot of meds to do in one day, I'm sure you'll be glad when they are all done.

@Mrs. High Heels: I'm glad DH's gamble paid off. It would be nice to be able to put them down at the same time.

@cheert16: Congrats!! That is very exciting. And how awesome that you and @Adira are so close together.

@Smurfette: That is so cute that she is running!

@QueensBee: I hope he goes back to 12 hours for you. I can't wait for us to get there, or even close to it.

@Pumuckl: Hope he's better soon. These little coughs are terrible.

I started a thread on this, but got no responses....so I'm going to hide in my corner of shame and embarrassment and ask you guys instead.....:
T started walking about 1 and a half weeks ago. Its all she wants to do all day long. But she seems extra tired by the end of the day- very cranky, begging for food but not eating it, etc. I know that the crankiness could just be a stage or who knows what---
but, after her bath until bedtime she is so exhausted she can't stand up. Like, she will try and just jello leg. She gets really hyper and frantically tries to stand and walk, but just falls over immediately. She keeps getting hurt!
Will this go away soon? Did you notice this when your LO first started walking?
I can't get her to nap longer than an hour in the morning and afternoon and she keeps waking up for the day at 5:30, so I'm sure that's part of the problem...

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @ALV91711: Glad no puking today!
@Silva: I didn't notice this. But I would think it is normal. Her legs could just be tired. What does your DH say?

  21. Silva

    cantaloupe / 6017 posts

@Smurfette: he's useless. he thinks she has cancer or something equally terrible because she is too tired. I think it seems normal and reasonable that she'd be exhausted- she just learned how to support her body weight on her legs and move forward! That's huge!

  22. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: Glad to hear you made it through the day without him being sick! Hopefully he just continues to get better and better!

@Silva: I know with Xander, we can tell when he's tired because he'll try walking and just fall over! And another woman at my daycare was saying the same thing about her son. So I think it's normal!!

  23. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Silva: Sounds like it's just normal exhaustion. Any chance of her getting to bed earlier so she doesn't topple over in the evenings because she is so tired? I nearly cried for her reading that she gets so upset because she can't support her weight anymore, must be so scary for her. She probably thinks she has forgotten how to do it

  24. Silva

    cantaloupe / 6017 posts

@Pumuckl: she has been asleep by 6:30 most nights this week! But yeah, I'm thinking we may need to do a few nights even earlier. I put her down early for her morning nap....guess we need to do a little sleep catch up. Maybe it's why she is waking up so early, too!

  25. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Silva: I think when Xander started walking and started missing naps, we often put him to bed at 6:00!!

Also, I was all set to not nurse this morning and was planning on not seeing my baby at all, when he decided to wake up! So I went in, not letting my hopes get up, but he nursed!!! Although only from the left. Guess the right's not doing much these days, haha.

  26. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Adira: Ahhh, Xander snuggles in the morning for you! Yay...

@Silva: I would guess it might be worth a try to see whether she'll do better with an earlier bedtime.

B's cough was way better this night. Hardly any coughing. I'm just so glad that he is such a champ getting the nebulizer administered 'cause it really seems to help a ton. I still slept horrible though - woke up every hour without any reason. So weird...

  27. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Pumuckl: I'm impressed B takes the nebulizer so well! Xander screamed the entire time when we did it in the pediatrician's office!!! 10 minutes of torture!

  28. Pumuckl

    pomegranate / 3601 posts

@Adira: This is what the first time looked like for us too but then DH discovered that the pacifier fits under the mask too. From that point on it was smooth sailing. We just nurse for the night now, B gets his paci and then we do the nebulizer for 10-15min. Usually he falls asleep during the nebulizer treatment. I'm still amazed he does because that compressor is LOUD.

  29. Smurfette

@Pumuckl: glad his cough was better!

I am home with R. She had one really loose diaper and it leaked all over her bloomers. Fever was 102.8. When I got there it was outside time, she was passed out asleep in her teachers arms. I know she doesn't feel good if she doesn't want to play outside. She slept in the car and has been passed out in the crib for an hour now. Poor girl!

@Smurfette: Awww, poor R!!! I hope whatever it is, she gets over it quickly!!

@Silva: So sorry that I must have missed your question posted on the boards! I never noticed that Pete was as tired as you described when he started to walk but he definitely does get "sloppy" in the evening due to exhaustion. He's a really solid walker during the day I notice he trips and falls a lot more right before bed. His bedtime is 6:30pm and he out like a light. I would second the suggestion to have bedtime moved a bit earlier to see how she does. If it continues, it can't hurt to call the ped and see what he/she thinks, but I definitely wouldn't be too concerned yet.

@Smurfette: Aww! So many sick babies this week. I'm sure she is happy to be home resting with her mama. Hope she feels better soon!

@ALV91711: Glad he did okay at daycare! I hope his appetite starts to return today.

Shucks, my lucky streak of good sleep is definitely over! Pete was awake at 9:30pm and then again at 4:00am. I definitely think teething is the culprit and I gave him some Motrin at 9 which seemed to help. DH is away on business this week so I'm stuck with all the night waking. Waaaah.

  32. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@QueensBee: Booo!!! Sorry to hear your very short good sleep sprint is over! I hope the teeth don't take too long to come through! Which ones do you think he's working on?

  33. Silva

    cantaloupe / 6017 posts

@Smurfette: oh, I hope she feels better!

@QueensBee: How many teeth does he have? We've been waiting on a molar for what feels like about a decade.

@Pumuckl: Probably works like the vacuum cleaner- white noise!

  34. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@QueensBee: Boo!! Teething sucks and if it is a molar they take FOREVER and a day
@Silva: they took like 2 months over here.

she woke up for maybe 45 mins, got her to eat a pouch and half of applesauce but won't drink anything. I hate seeing her like this. I put her in the crib cause she was falling asleep on me but she is rolling around playing.

Side note I don't know how people work at home. I am doing everything but working.

  35. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Awww, poor girl! Luckily a pouch and applesauce are pretty watery, so she's probably staying hydrated. Xander wouldn't drink any milk last weekend when he was sick, but he had a ton of applesauce and seemed to be staying hydrated that way. I hope she feels better soon!

And I hear you - I can't work at home. I just end up turning on the TV.

  36. Adira

So I don't know if he's been doing it on purpose or not, but Xander's been "walking" backwards a bunch this evening! I think he's just "dancing" by standing in place and lifting his feet up and down, but he's moving himself backwards, haha. It's so cute!

  37. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@silva, e used to turn into a "drunk baby" when she would get tired. Could hardly use her legs and would wobble like crazy or revert to crawling. I bet T's walking all day and night soon

  38. Silva

    cantaloupe / 6017 posts

@blackbird: they kind of buckle underneath her but yeah, she looks like a drunkard. glad to hear its not just her! my husband is freaking out. I'm sure she's just tired, she is doing really well with walking during the day.
she did have a couple spit up incidents today which was strange, and didn't eat much, so I'm thinking she may be feeling a bit under the weather, too.
