@wonderstruck: haha, okay, that makes more sense!!! I was thinking "Wow, L's such a shorty!! How does he fit into 2T pants???" Also, I'm totally jealous of your age gap!!! I wanted mine to be under 18 months apart, but it just didn't work out for us. Mine will be 22 months apart.
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@Adira: Yeah, my brother and I are a year and a week apart, so I'm very familiar with the pros and cons! Although it'll be different since they're both boys. At least your little guy will definitely be walking and somewhat independent when LO is born, that's a plus! Carrying L everywhere is getting old. And 2T pants are still crazy long on him. I'm so glad it's summer and I can put him in shorts now so I don't have to deal with them dragging!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@wonderstruck: Yeah, my brother and I are 16 months apart, which is why I wanted mine close! It'll be interesting to see how the two year age gap is! Hopefully it works out okay!! And are you excited to see how the brother bond is since you grew up in a brother-sister dynamic? Part of me wants another boy just because I think they may end up being really close if they're the same gender!
pomegranate / 3791 posts
@Adira: I'm `REALLY trying to focus on being excited to see their bond. To be honest with you, I had a tough time with it both times we found out gender. I always pictured myself as a girl mom, which quickly changed when L came along and I totally fell in love with him. But I guess I always thought someday he'd have a little sister and I'd have a daughter. We're not sure we want a third and are leaning towards no, so that probably won't happen and I can't wait to see how they bond so I can hopefully stop having lingering sadness over it. Sorry if that sounds awful, but I'm being honest!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@wonderstruck: That doesn't feel awful at all! I feel the SAME way. I always always always pictured myself with a daughter! I think part of why I say things like "Part of me wants another boy just because..." is to try to psych myself up in case it IS another boy! I'm trying to just assume that's what it will be so that I hopefully don't get crazy disappointed if it is a boy. Because I do want a girl and this will definitely be our last baby...

She napped 1230-210 today. Cried a little while going to sleep but that is normal for her. All in all they said she did great! The drive to get it was so nice! I got to relax!
I don't like they gave her the 2 pouches I sent as back up as snacks today. They are supposed to provide snacks. And they don't list how much she ate for lunch. So I guess I need to ask about that now.

@wonderstruck: Welcome to the board! And congratulations on LO#2! Sounds like he'll be walking in no time!
@Smurfette: Ugh, you must be so upset about those back taxes. I'm so sorry. $300 is a lot of money each month. Such sh*tty news. Definitely have a margarita on the rocks or glass of wine tonight to unwind. This is my go-to easy recipe of choice:
http://www.chow.com/recipes/28533-the-original-perfect-margarita
If I were closer to Atlanta, I'd deliver you one!
But happy to see R had a long nap and you had a relaxing car ride home!

@Adira: Ooooh, what was the dairy free recipe you tried? Haha, of course Xander wouldn't take a bite. These babies are such stinkers! At least you enjoyed it!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@QueensBee: I will have to try that later! I was going to work out, but our Blue ray isn't working:( and r just fell asleep. Took over an hour and I had to sit outside the crib for 20 mins what is going on? 3rd night we have had to do that.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: The rest of the night was ok. At around 1 I just put him in bed beside me then at least the next time he woke up I didn't have to go anywhere. Although sharing a bed with him I don't get as good of a sleep.
@Pumuckl: You probably weren't as tired since you weren't chasing around a toddler!
@QueensBee: ahhh-ooh is just so cute! Hopefully soon he will realize that you are mama and call you that.
@Smurfette: So sorry about the taxes, that is so crappy. But glad R had a good first day. It sounds like she is going to do good there. And a good nap on the first day is awesome.
@Mrs. Blue: How did the boys do in there new room?
@wonderstruck: Glad you are joining in. What a big guy you have.
There have been three new babies that have started in Isaac's room since Friday. I was kind of nervous at how he would nap since usually the new kids don't nap so well the first days. It seems to not have bothered him at all. Now why can't he nap this well at home?
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@ALV91711: It sounds like it went okay. The asst. Teacher at the end of the day said they took their nap at nap time and even slept last the "end" of nap time. They were suuuuuper tired tonight though. I'm not sure if it was just from only having one nap or just from trying to keep up with bigger kids than what they've been with. All in all, it was good!

@Smurfette: glad to hear R did so well in the new daycare! that sucks about the back taxes!! ugh...
@wonderstruck: welcome!! congrats on baby #2!
J started daycare today, and it was hard letting him go! who knew it'd be this hard the second time around. he did pretty well though. they said he cried on and off, but he took his usual 3 hour nap from 12-3 (even at daycare! i was surprised!)... but he was so tired and cranky tonight and fell asleep by 6:45 (his usual bedtime is 7:30). maybe all that running around wore him out, or maybe his nap wasn't as deep as it usually is?... anyway, it was an ok first day. they said he hardly drank any milk though. i didn't bring his straw cup to school because they provide it, but they suggested that i bring the ones he use at home because i wouldn't drink theirs. gah, thinking about him thirsting for milk all day long makes me sad. the first thing he did when i picked him up was use his "milk" sign!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. Blue: It will take awhile to get use to one nap. R still will take two on the weekends most days.
@Mrs. High Heels: aww poor guy!! The milk sign would break my heart too. That is awesome he slept that long. Super impressive! I hope today goes even better!
R didn't make a peep all night!!!! And at 650 is still passed out. I need to wake her at 7 and I don't want too!

@wonderstruck: Welcome! So many pregnant mommies on here, so cool.
@Smurfette: I'm so glad to hear that R seemed to really enjoy the new daycare and seems to be sleeping better! It just sucks when you have to wake them, B took forever to fall asleep today at 6 and then we had to wake him at 7:30am. Total bummer about the taxes. I sure hope you find a way of still being able to squeeze a #2 into the budget along with it.
@Mrs. High Heels: That update is terrific and sad at the same time. Hope today goes better with his own sippy cup.
@Mrs. Blue: Glad E&F had a rather good first day in the new class room. It must be really neat for them to never be alone
@ALV91711: Yeah, you're probably right. I just really hope that B will learn to walk soon. He's progressed immensly in the last couple of days so I hope that by July/August he might be able to walk unassisted. But then it took him forever to start crawling so, not sure if I'll get as lucky.
@Adira: Bummer about the casserol. Keeping my FX that Xander will finally find the joy of eating.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Decent nap! Do they just list what they gave for lunch but not actually how much? That's annoying. Mine is kind of annoying too because they'll say he had "some" or "most" or something, but I don't actually know how much that is. Glad to hear she had a good day overall!!
@QueensBee: I found a recipe on how to make a dairy free cream of mushroom soup, and then the recipe for the casserole is basically cream of mushroom soup, milk, butter, cheese, and pasta! So used my new dairy-free cream of mushroom soup, hemp milk, dairy-free butter, dairy-free cheese, and regular pasta! It definitely wasn't as good as normal, but it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be!
@Mrs. High Heels: Awww, poor guy! I hope they don't have any issues with your straw cups. I provided one for Xander, but they had issues with it leaking and so they sent it home! But now Xander is used to both kinds of cups since he uses sippies at daycare and straw at home. Hopefully today goes a little more smoothly for him!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Adira: @Smurfette: Interesting that you get told how much they eat. How do they even know? Is it because you send the lunch? At B's daycare they all get a plate full and refills if they want more. Then it is just rated in a smiley category how they ate. Smiley, smiles - neutral, smiley and sad, smiley. I think in the nearly 5.5m B's been there now he only once has had a not smiley, smiley. But then I guess I'm lucky because *knock on wood* so far he is far from picky and eats just about anything in decent amounts.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Pumuckl: She actually woke up right when I went to get her. Perfect.
@Adira: Yeah it just said lunch. I am fine with S(some) or M(most) or A(all) which is what the old one did. But just lunch and the time. Yes I know the menu but how much did she eat?! @Pumuckl: They just look at her plate if she wants more, they give more, but then that will be A for all. But if she eats two green beans that that would be S (some)
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Smurfette: Ah okay, so that's pretty much the same thing that they do with the smileys at our place.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Pumuckl: Yeah, on our daily sheet it'll list the time, what they had for lunch, and then a small note on how much he ate. They usually write something like: Refused, Tried, Some, Most, All.

Tonight when we got home Isaac wanted nothing to do with being in the house. We came in and he just wanted to go out and see his dad, so I unpacked our bags and out we went. I tried to bring him in a couple times and he just freaked out. Finally we all came in because he needed dinner. He was so unhappy. I put his highchair on the deck and he happily ate his dinner outside and loved it. What a crazy baby.
@Mrs. Blue: I'm glad they had a good day and napped well. Hopefully they keep it up.
@Mrs. High Heels: I hope the transition goes well and that he drank some milk today.
@Adira: That casserole actually sounds pretty good. Did you try putting some veggies in it?
@Pumuckl: @Smurfette: @Adira: For eating at daycare all they write on his sheet is what he eats. They don't say how much. His teacher usually tells me if he really liked something that day or if he hasn't been liking something I'm sending. They don't put the times because that is on the wall on their schedule. He used to not eat until daycare so he would get an early breakfast and then breakfast and they would write the time of the first one, but now he eats at home before we leave.

Interesting how all the daycares communicate differently about food. DD's in-home daycare makes her food and often they will text a picture of it and say something vague about how much she ate. She eats really well at daycare so it's usually "she ate more than the big kids," or "she ate an adult portion - more than me!"
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: I didn't try that, but if I can ever get Xander to actually eat it, you can bet I'll be loading that casserole up with as much healthy things as I can!!!
That's funny about Isaac wanting to hang outside! Eating on the deck actually sounds fun! I'm going to have to do that with Xander sometime!
@Corduroy: hahahaha, I love the "she ate an adult portion - more than me!" What a good eater!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: R will throw a fit when we make her come in and she doesn't want too. She eats out on her picnic table (dinner) just about every weekend. She looks so cute sitting there!
pear / 1718 posts
@Adira: Thanks for the sharing the recipe! Very creative!!
@Mrs. High Heels: Awe, that't not enough milk for the little guy! I'd be sad too. How did yesterday go? But awesome that he had such a great nap!
@ALV91711: Pete is obsessed with being outside too! As soon as DH drops him off at daycare, he run to their sliding glass doors and starts to point and shriek because he wants to go outside. His teacher said he would spend the whole day out there if she let him. I also take him out when we get home and he just loves exploring the yard. He collects rocks, acorns, grass, throws a ball. Entertains himself forever. He freaks out when I try to bring him inside. It usually involves me holding him while while twists and screams in my arms. Little naturalists!
Ugh, the little bugger was wide awake at 1am last night. He wasn't crying or unhappy, just ready to party. It took over two hours to convince him to go back to sleep and only once he was laying across out bed again. No sleep for me!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@QueensBee: Ugh, that sounds like such a rough night!!! So sorry!!!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: It melts my hearts seeing them sit in big kid chairs. She must be so cute at her picnic table.
@QueensBee: Hope sleep is better tonight. Right now our back yard is just dirt, I can't wait until it is finished so Isaac can explore out there.
Today it was pouring rain when we got home and after dinner he just sat at the sliding door and whined/cried because he wanted out.

@QueensBee: I hope tonight is better!
@ALV91711: aww poor guy!
@blackbird: aww! You both are going to be so excited to see each other.

@QueensBee: @Smurfette: @Adira: he's doing much better now that i sent our home straw sippy cups to daycare. apparently, they only have the open mouthed cups there so of course he wouldn't drink from it - he didn't know how! he's the youngest (15.5 months) out of a class of 18-36 month olds. i can already see that he's advancing in just the few days he's been there though - he's less prone to stumble and fall (better at balancing when walking), and he even tried to color on our art easel today! his hand eye coordination isn't quite there yet though.
@blackbird: aww it'll be so nice to see her after time away!
@QueensBee: oh man, i hope he sleeps better for you tonight! at least he was in a good mood, but man... mama needs sleep!
@ALV91711: my kids love eating outside too! it's a nice change of scenery for them i'm sure.

@Pumuckl: he's doing better after i sent him with his own sippy cups, thanks! apparently they only have open mouthed cups at school so of course he didn't drink from them - he didn't know how! he was in a much better mood when i picked him up today, and seems to be picking up some new skills too. i'm so relieved things seem to be going well.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: Oh yeah, I tried offering Xander an open cup once and he was just all "WTF?" So that makes sense! Glad to hear he's doing better!!
OMG girls, Xander is soooooo sick. He's totally stuffed up and having trouble breathing and just so miserable. It took him over an hour to fall asleep and then he woke up again only an hour later and now has been up for almost two hours, crying and coughing and just being miserable. I feel so bad for him.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Adira: oh no!! poor baby!! i hope he gets over it soon! after one day of daycare, J already came back with a runny nose and cough... i'm just bracing myself for it to come full force!... sigh. poor babies.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: It's the one thing I really hate about daycare! I was hoping that since he's been going for a year now, we'd stop being sick so often, but it's just one thing after another! And if he's still this sick tomorrow, I'm going to have to stay home with him. Poor sick babies.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: I hope he is feeling better tomorrow, and gets some sleep tonight. I always feel so bad when they are sick.
I'm crossing my fingers and toes Isaac doesn't bring anything home in the next 1.5 weeks. We are going to see his baby cousin and I don't want to bring germs there.
@blackbird: That will be so awesome to see her tomorrow!
@Mrs. High Heels: I'm glad he's drinking now that you have some cups from home there. Isaac will take a sip here or there out of our cups but there is no way he is ready to do it himself. That is awesome that he is learning so much there.
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Adira: the first year of daycare was really rough for us with DD, but the 2nd year was so much better. her immunity is so much stronger now and she hardly ever gets sick. if she does get sick, it's just a typical cold (runny nose and cough with no fever), and she can usually get over it in a day or two. i hope that'll be the case with xander too. hang in there, it is so so hard!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Ugh, last night was so rough. He probably only slept in 30 minute - 1 hour increments and then would be up for 30+ minutes screaming and crying. It was horrible! I'm going to stay home with him today and hopefully get him in to see someone.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: So glad that it is going better!!! How is he napping? R has taken a little over an hour the last two days. One day someone woke her up and yesterday she woke up 4 kids
@Adira: @Mrs. High Heels: R loves to drink out of our cups when we let her. We have to hold it for her but she gets so excited to drink water that way.
@Adira: Poor guy! I hope he feels better soon. And you both get some sleep today. R is stuffy again, not horrible, and was coughing in her sleep. So I think she is coming down with something.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Smurfette: B's the same he loves drinking from normal cups, glasses and even water bottles. It usually involves some spilling but other than that he does pretty well.
Also I got B his own Camelbak eddy kids bottle since I have those in the grown up version and he always tried drinking from mine (I wouldn't let him). It took him like 5 seconds to figure out how it works. So glad it works so well since I really like that it holds quite a bit of water and is totally spill proof.
