Ugh, this day has been brutal! I got up at 5:00 a.m. (after what felt like no sleep) and spent the next three hours in Xander's room trying to help him sleep. And then I called and made an appointment with a pediatrician, so we rushed off to that where he got a nebulizer, steroids, and an x-ray. Two hours later, they sent us off to the ER where he basically just got monitored and had blood drawn. Finally got home at 3:00 p.m. which was my first chance to EAT. I was STARVING!!!! Now Xander has two different inhalers and two other medicines he has to take!!! Poor kid just can't catch a break!

@Adira: I hope your DH gets home soon so you can get a break

@Smurfette: He won't. He's working until midnight tonight and tomorrow. I'm on sick baby duty.

@Smurfette: his naps are going surprisingly well (that was my biggest worry)... he's always been a good sleeper/napper, but I was worried about him going from a white noise/blackout noise environment to a room full of toddlers and daylight everywhere. he's been napping anywhere from 2.5-3 hours. though on monday, he did wake up in the middle, but the teachers were able to pat him back to sleep.
@Adira: Oh man... that is ROUGH!! Poor mama and Xander! I seriously hate the ER - they take FOREVER.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: It definitely wasn't our longest stay at the ER, but it still sucked! Especially since the reason we went there was because of low oxygen and when they hooked Xander up to monitor him, he was totally fine. So annoying!
You ladies remember how the other day someone asked if your LO has ever asked to go to bed?? Well Xander just did! He walked into his room and pointed to his crib! He must be exhausted!!
blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts
@Adira: aww Xander... it's heartbreaking to see them so sick and exhausted, i'm sure he needs all the rest he can get right now. Poor baby.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. High Heels: Yes, definitely! As far as I can tell, he really only got 6 or 7 hours of sleep last night! I'm actually amazed and the pretty good mood he's been in (after he got some breathing treatments)! I'm hoping he's able to have a better night tonight, but he's been breathing a LOT better, so I'm feeling optimistic!

Update on Xander from his 15 Month Well Visit!
Height: 31" (45th percentile)
Weight: 21 lb 3.5 oz (23rd percentile)
Xander officially has 7 teeth now! He has a bottom molar that I've never even noticed, but seems to be fully in, so yay! Let's hope the rest are that easy, haha.
Our pediatrician didn't seem concerned that he really wasn't eating finger foods yet, but just said to keep offering. She also said it was normal that he no longer makes "ba" sounds because it's normal for their babbling to change. Overall, she was very happy with where he is.
And in regards to his illness, he's doing a LOT better! Loaded up on meds, but he slept AWESOME last night and has been in a good mood all this morning!

@Adira: Glad that he is feeling better!! And yay! for a good visit. I can't believe he got a molar and you didn't know. Molars were a bitch for R.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: I know, I can't believe it either! Either I'm the most unobservant parent EVER or we just got really lucky! I hope the rest are this easy!

@Adira: Yay for a good check up!! I'm glad he is feeling better. I really can't believe he has a molar just like that. I hope the rest are all that easy.
@Smurfette: How was the first full week of daycare? Are you enjoying your drive alone?
@Mrs. High Heels: Sounds like a good first week for J? I can't believe how well he naps every day!
Looks like we have a walker. He is mostly walking now and getting more confident every day & picking up speed. It is so fun to watch. He also started blowing kisses today and it is just so adorable.

Sounds like a great check up for Xander!
@alv, yay a walker!!!

@Adira: so glad to hear all is well with Xander! sounds like a great well check too!
@ALV91711: woohoo - go Isaac!! it gets so fun when they start walking!

@ALV91711: It was good. DH picked her up Friday and the teachers told him she is doing great. I love having the drive to myself. We both are in a better mood when we get home.
Yay for walking!!

R LOVED her swim lesson! The instructor said she did great for her first lesson and really time in the pool. Last summer she just sat in the pool in a floaty.
She did not love the pony ride at the bday party. She was so excited seeing the pony but as we got closer she cried and cried. I ended up putting her on it and walked with her and she calmed down but not a fan!

@Smurfette: So jealous of the swim class!! I really should have signed Xander up for something like that!!
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Smurfette: I'm glad she is doing good at the new daycare. The swimming lessons look fun. Hopefully we'll be able to do them in the fall. Everything I could find in our area for the summer is weekdays.
@Adira: Is Xander feeling better?
Ladies, I love walking so much. It is just so cute to see how happy he is to walk around. He's getting pretty good and picking up speed. This weekend he was obsessed with going up the stairs, now to teach him to get back down.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: I think so! He still has a cough, but he finished the course of two of his meds and seems to be in a good mood most of the time, so I think he's over the worst of it!
YAY for walking!!!! And let me know how well teaching him to go down goes for you. We've been trying to teach Xander and he can definitely go down a couple steps, but he's never done the whole staircase... it makes me nervous!

@ALV91711: Yay a walker!!! Congrats I'm so looking forward to B mastering that. He is one heavy dude.
@Adira: What a great update on Xander and so glad his illnesses are getting better too. I may have missed this but did you end up staying in your daycare or did you change after their diary experiments?
@Smurfette: Ahhh, glad R is enjoying swimming. B was in a kiddy pool at a friend's house yesterday and he cried so hard when we took him out... He just loves the water - just like his momma...
So we spent the weekend in Berlin at a friend's house and we had a blast; although it was seriously insanely hot (temp. close to the mid and higher 90s). Our friend's a semi-professional photographer (it's not his main job but he gets paid to take photos) and he took a couple of really cute pics of B playing with his straw hat... He loves straw hats so I'll have to see whether I can actually turn one up in his size. Somehow there seems to be tons for girls but hardly any for boys...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Pumuckl: We ended up staying, but they gave us the menu for the month and I crossed off everything they couldn't give him and now I send lunch with him, so I'm feeling a little more confident about what he'll be eating there!
So jealous you have a photographer friend who took some good pics of B!!! The only pics I have of Xander are the ones I'm taking myself and I'm no professional!

@Adira: That sounds like a really good plan you have with your daycare. Hope they stick to it so trust can rebuild...
Yeah it was awesome. We have some good cameras but by no means are we professionals
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@ALV91711: Seeing them walk is the best. I think it is so much easier too! Don't have to carry them to and from the car as much now.
@Pumuckl: yay for pictures! I am so glad we have done professional pictures cause we don't take good pictures at all.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: How was daycare drop-off for you this morning? Still tears?
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yep Friday she was fine but yesterday and today tears. Today the teacher walked down the hallway with her and then went off to the kitchen and I kept walking and by then she was fine. But it is so hard. Not used to this!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: It could also just be the age. Xander has started doing this too and he's been going to the same daycare forever and has all the same teachers, so it's not a new environment thing! It's just separation anxiety or something! But it sucks seeing them cry.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Well I hope they grow out of it!! Her teachers said that she is doing great otherwise. She goes to them at 8 no issues.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@Adira: @Smurfette: I think there must be a stage of separation anxiety around this time- T has started crying whenever I hand her to her dad (poor guy). She is all about mom right now.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: @Silva: Xander does that too! I usually don't see him in the mornings because I leave before he gets up, but I was home the other day for a dentist appointment, so I got him up and was holding him and when Hubs tried to take him to bring him to daycare, he just clung to me and cried! It was so sad!! It's gotta be a phase.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Silva: @Adira: Oh we don't have that issue, 90% of the time if Daddy is around she wants Daddy. Sun morning she said Dada, walked over to our bedroom door (off the LR/dining room) and started banging on the door. I decided he slept enough and opened the door for her and put her on the bed, so she could wake him up.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: @Silva: I'm betting it's different for you @Smurfette because she doesn't see him during the week, so when he's around, she wants him! Whereas Xander sees us both pretty equally (and probably sees Hubs a little bit more during the week). And I LOVE just dropping Xander on the bed with Hubs to wake him up! He's so excited - it's adorable!!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: Yeah that is part of it. But what am I chop liver?? DH picked her up on Friday and she was so excited to see me when I got home and didn't want me to put her down.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yesterday, the entire drive home from daycare, Xander was just yelling "Dada!" in the backseat. I was like "Uh... Dada's not going to be home when we get there..." And a lot of the time, when we're both hanging out with him if Hubs leaves the room, Xander will just follow him around. He only really wants me when he hasn't seen me for a while or is about to be separated from me (leaving for daycare or me leaving to go shopping, etc).

Dropping in to catch up.
@ALV91711: Yay for a walker!!! Love this stage J has started walking too!! He looks at ceiling most times and bumps into random things silly guy!!
We had 15mo appt. and boy was that difficult! J cried like he was being tortured the entire time and it was quite stressful. We had to get out of the exam room so he could calm down and I could hear what the doc was saying. Stats - J is 23.8 pounds and 34" tall (I think its closer to 33" as he was measured lying down) He also has 11 teeth and bottom 2 molars are in!! I don't know when exactly they came in he didn't make any more fuss than usual.
@Pumuckl: Wow sounds awesome getting pro pics!! and to look back and cherish as he gets older.
@Silva: @Adira: @Smurfette: J hasn't shown separation anxiety but he is a real cling on when out and about.. he doesn't stray more than a few feet from me or DH. Maybe because he is not exposed to more people on a daily basis since he doesn't go to daycare.
@Adira: Melts my heart when I hear LO call for his dada I think of them as my two dudes little & big
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@silver1: Xander's the same when we're out and about! He's cautious around people he's not familiar with.
And yes!! It's so cute when they are shouting for their Dads! Although sometimes it's sad if Hubs isn't around or something.

@Adira: Everynight this week, R has walked into the office looking for DH
@silver1: R has her 15 month appointment tomorrow. Nervous for the shots.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Ugh, that's so heartbreaking! Poor you and R! Will your husband eventually not need to travel for work?? Because this situation seems like it sucks for all of you.

@Adira: the odds that he gets a local client are rare. So not till he gets a new job.
