@Smurfette: Yeah, I'm afraid to give Xander food in the car because he often tips his pouches upside down and shakes them out!! Plus you already told me the horror stories of milk!!

So sorry about your night and poor R!!! I hope tonight isn't as bad, especially since you have to work in the morning! Ugh!!! And I have no idea about the order of teeth. Xander already has a bottom molar, but he doesn't even have his two bottom side incisors, so his are coming in totally randomly!

Oh, I keep forgetting to tell this story because I get distracted responding to people, haha! So tonight, Hubs was going to put Xander to bed and I said "Night night!" and he responds "Na na!" It was soooooooooo friggin' cute!!! So I said "Night night!" a couple more times and every time I said it, he'd say "Na na!"

@Adira: So cute! Carter has started going to the bottom of the stairs and saying night night when he's tired and ready for a nap. I love it!

Carter has finally started taking a couple of steps! Nothing consistent yet, but he has taken two steps a few different times. I'm so excited for him to walk.

@Adira: well she woke up at 745 screaming, got her back down at 930. I ran out to get more Motrin, been gone 10 mins and she was up screaming. I talked to the on call nurse and she said we are doing everything right. But if she cries for an hour straight tonight to bring her in.

@jodyblair: Yay!!! He's so close to walking!!!

@Smurfette: Oh man, that's so rough... I hope the rest of the night calms down for you.

    @Adira: that's so cute!

@Smurfette: oh man, i wonder what could be wrong! we aren't experiencing the night wake ups here but J is also going through some really bad fussiness. he's so easily irritable, cries at the drop of a hat, and has been pushing away food and milk - for him, it's definitely teething though! his bottom gums are really swollen, and his top incisors on both sides both poked through.

guys, i'm not gonna lie... but this is my least favorite stage of them all. this weird stage between the 1's and the 2's! they are learning to communicate, but can't really communicate so it's hard to figure out what they want. they *want* to be independent, but they're so clingy at the same time. and let's not get me started on the teething and drool. maybe i'm just tired right now... its been a rough weekend of one too many tantrums!

@ALV91711: Yay, for Isaac being a good cousin. I really hope this will be B's reaction once he is a big brother...

@Adira: Sorry about the car seat incident. Hope the smell got out... But your bedtime story is so cute. Love how they learn how to communicate better and better with every day.

@jodyblair: Go Carter! I bet you'll see him off in no time. B is still only walking and standing when he has something to hold on to... One day even my kid will know how to walk...

@Smurfette: Hope your rest of the night went better and you didn't end up having to bring here to the doc's.

@Mrs. High Heels: sorry to hear you had such a rough weekend. Hope the night was quiet at least.

I'm kind of dreading that wonder week that is coming up for us... Hope he'll not end up being Mr. Fussypants again. So far so good though.

@jodyblair: Yay!! For walking. @Adira: cute story!!
@Mrs. High Heels: It has to be teething. I have never seen so much drool in my life. And she has her hands in her mouth at all times. Poor girl! Sorry you had a rough weekend too. This is going to last till 2?
@Adira: She was up 4 times last night, but luckily she fell back asleep each time. While she wakes me up, I go back to sleep much easier when I don't have to get up. So that in itself was nice.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Sorry to hear she woke up so many times, but glad you didn't actually have to get up and were able to fall back asleep fairly easily!!! Hopefully that's a good sign, especially now that you're back in solo-parenting territory!!! I can't imagine how difficult it has to be to handle all the night wake ups all on your own and THEN go to work!!!

  10. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Adira: I was crying last night cause I felt so bad cause she was in pain and nothing we did was helping. I have never seen her so upset. But also cause I was thinking I can't do this by myself this week. I am hoping tonight will be a little better. Motrin and teething tablets before bed for sure.

@Smurfette: Ugh, I hear you. That sounds like Xander's awful night when he was sick and up every hour. I ended up sleeping on the floor next to him in his room for about an hour (I was in there for 3 hours, but probably only asleep for an hour). It was so brutal. But that was after Hubs handled half of the night wake-ups. I would cry too if I had to handle it all on my own! I hope things get better for you both!!!

@Adira: Sat night I went to the guest room cause DH was snoring. I was trying to be nice instead of kicking him out since it was Father's Day. At 5, I had to go and wake him and have him handle that wake up.
Also, DH's alarm went off at 430, then 440, and then he woke me at 515 to say by. Diet Coke will be my friend today.

How did telling the family go this weekend?

  13. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Smurfette: Same thing here!!! Saturday night I went in slept in the other room because Hubs was snoring!!! And then he got up with Xander and cleaned the house. Best Father's Day to me, ever!

So far we've told Hubs' family! They were all really excited, especially his mom! And we're telling my family tonight!!

@Smurfette: Sorry to hear about the rough night but glad you didn't have to get up. If I have to get up, my current pregnant hormone crazy self gets really antsy and I'm so impatient with B then. And then that gets me even more worked up because I then hate myself and usually end up crying too. Solo parenting sucks sometimes!

  15. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Pumuckl: Yes! DH was like stop crying you are going to make her more upset!
    @Adira: Yay!!!

@Adira: Yay for telling everyone. So looking forward to being able to be open about pregnancy. I'm really glad we told our parents already though - it makes it easier on me to be able to talk to someone about it except for DH.

@Smurfette: And you know the worst thing? They are probably right (Although once I started crying and B like looked at me all shocked then snuggled up to me - as if to say it's ok mama - and peacefully went to sleep. But that was only once).

My kid's also been waking up a TON every night. Like 3-4x/night, just crying. Or at 5:30am, crying into her bed until she falls asleep again. Stupid teeth.

Kind of nice to know that everyone else is going through this, though. It's been going on for so long!

  18. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

    @blackbird: How long for you?

  19. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@smurfette, the few times/night crying, probably a week or two at this point. I don't always hear her, but DH always tells me about it. The early 530am crying is probably more like 3 weeks. She just used to zonk out for 12 hours and wake up happy and now she's very up and down.

  20. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@blackbird: what teeth is she working on? The 530 crap is so hard

  21. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@smurfette, she has a top right big tooth coming in and daycare says it's her bottom incisors that are coming in, too. Thankfully i'm up at 5 or so, but i hate listening to her and wondering if i go in, will it wake her up and she won't go back down, or how long to leave her so she will go back to sleep, etc.

She only has the bottom two and three top ones so far.

Dh has such a good sense of humor about this. He said "well she could just be confused or frustrated. Babies do only have 2 ways of expressing themselves: crying and laughing". Ain't that the truth

  22. Smurfette

@blackbird: poor E! Cutting a couple at a time has to be hard. I wish I could see/figure out what R is cutting.

@Smurfette: I'm probably just being a wee bit overdramatic haha. But I do know the roughest months with my first were 18-24 months... Who knows about this time! Maybe the worst is ending and things will improve soon. I just hope we all skip the 18 month sleep regression. Yea sounds like teething. J is acting the exact same way. Poor kiddos. We go through so many bibs a day!

@blackbird: oh man. Same here. We have about 4 teeth cutting at once. At least it's a comfort knowing we are going through this together! Hope she sleeps better tonight!

  24. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: We boxed up her bibs cause she was done spitting up and never really drooled before. I am going to dig them out tonight.
18 month sleep regression, say it isn't so!

Ladies, thank you all for the good weaning wishes. They are working. I really jumped in with two feet on this thing but it's going well.

Saturday I decided LO was going to eat breakfast before nursing. She was very apprehensive but only cried for about 5 minutes before she ate. Then after breakfast she didn't even ask to nurse. It wasn't until 2 hours later (7am - I have one of those early risers too) that she realized she skipped the boob. So I fed her. Sunday and this morning we just did breakfast and she didn't even ask to nurse. Who is this kid???

Also on Saturday I posted about LO waking up starving at 4:30-5:15 every morning pretty much since newborn stage. Some bees suggested not nursing right before bed. So I changed up LO's bedtime routine (the same day I messed with her morning, poor girl). Now she's eating dinner, nursing, brush teeth, jammies, say goodnight to daddy, a couple stories, a song and bed. Obviously she thought she was going to nurse again after the stories and song but when we didn't her world didn't end. She cried for 5 minutes or so and then fell asleep. What a relief!!! I can't believe we're actually weaning. I have slain the boob monster. And no, changing the routine hasn't improved the early wakeups yet.

She's still having a daily tantrum for the 5:30pm nursing session. That bothers me so much less now knowing that we aren't going to have the same battle for morning and night. What a sigh of relief. Mama is happy.

On a side note, LO was back at the doctor with a sinus infection today so we're starting another round of antibiotics.

@Corduroy: YAY!!!! So glad to hear weaning is going well!!! Bummer about the illness though. I swear Xander's on a new antibiotic every other week for ear infections!

@Corduroy: yay, glad to hear that weaning is so successful. FX it keeps going the way you hope! Maybe the wake-ups will resolve with time. Sorry about the sinus infection... Hope she'll feel better soon.

Would anyone like to borrow two toddlers for a few days?? Anyone?? Anyone at all?

    That is all.

  31. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Blue: I kind of want to borrow them because they are adorable and it would be fun to see Xander with them! But I don't think I could handle three toddlers at the same time...

Can I borrow them for about an hour to get pictures of them with Xander and then you can have them right back? Make sure they are well fed and rested before visiting.

@Pumuckl: @Smurfette: @Adira: If everyone could just take a 2-hour shift, that'd be great. Thanks.

I think I'm just being a big baby.

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

@mrs. blue, you can throw your two in the ring with mine and we'll sit back with margaritas and watch them from a safe distance

eta: i forgot you were pregnant. womp womp. Chocolate for you.

  37. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@Mrs. Blue: You are being human. I am exhausted with one. Plus given everything you are going through, and pregnant, totally normal to feel like this.

Is there anyway you can get a sitter and escape for a couple hours this weekend?

  38. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@Mrs. Blue: I'm sure you're not being a big baby. Sometimes Xander is too much for me to handle and I get really frustrated and upset and just beg for him to take a long nap or go to bed early. And that's just ONE toddler!!!! I can't even imagine what it would be like to have two of them!

  39. Mrs. High Heels

    blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts

@Mrs. Blue: with everything you're going through, and being pregnant, and having to chase around two toddlers... it is A.LOT. can Mr. Blue take the kids and give you a few hours to yourself this weekend?

And did you not see my complaining comments above?? So ready to get this stage over with. I'm complaining and not going through half of what you're going through. We all need to vent a lil sometimes!

  40. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: @Adira: @Smurfette: @Pumuckl: It's decided. We'll follow @blackbird: 's suggestion and throw them all in a ring while we have a beverage...and I'll adhere to a more European view of wine during pregnancy!

My in-laws are coming this weekend to help watch the boys so we can pack. I really need to use the time wisely, but I have a spa certificate from Mother's Day that I think I'm going to use instead of furiously packing the whole day.
