@sheskrafty: He's still on breast milk, but we're starting to switch him to hemp milk. It's the closest in nutrition to cow's milk and has a decent amount of fat. The only thing it's lacking that cow's milk has is protein.

@AprilFool: yeah on the photog! Happy dancing with you! And I'm with @Queensbee the photos will be worth it.

@Adira: yupp, we're totally and utterly crazy!

@tororojo: @Adira: I hear you on the weaning. B has daytime weaned a long time ago but I'm not sure how completely weaning will go. Somehow I'm not sure we're ready yet...

@sheskrafty: The recommendation here is to only use milk with at least 3.5% fat.

@Adira: @Pumuckl: I caved and did an afternoon session again today. It just breaks my heart to refuse her! But she's sick and teething so I think that makes her want to nurse more and me take pity more.

@Adira: Where do you buy hemp milk? Maybe Trader Joe's would have it? After 10 months of paying for Alimentum, I'm not super excited about spending $10 per gallon on something at Whole Foods - especially since Jack doesn't seem to like anything EXCEPT Alimentum and all the juice

  5. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@keepcalmcarrie: I just buy it at our local grocery store. It's in the non-dairy creamer section because it can be stored room temperature for months! I buy the tempt original version. It's about $4/32 oz, which sucks, but it's the closest to cow's milk nutrition-wise that I can find!

@tororojo: don't feel bad about it! What are two or three additional days compared to the months we've already been doing it. There not gonna be nursing when they go to college...

@Pumuckl: it's true! Gotta remember the big picture. I just feel like I'm on a time budget with a baby due in Nov. I want to wean and have her forget all about boobs by the time I'm feeding her sibling with them! But still, I know there's time.

It is 7:30am and everyone is still sleeping. Nice but weird

Ah I have mastitis!!! I was planning to completely wean after DH came back from his bachelor party this weekend too. It seriously hit me like a ton of bricks. I had chills, 103 fever, migraine, nauseous ness all day just out of the blue.

Seriously can't believe I'm getting this when I'm down to two nursing sessions a day and rarely even get engorged anymore. I should've just weaned earlier!

Solo parenting this weekend will be interesting. I hope this passes soon. Worst timing ever.

@tororojo: I hear you! I haven't fully weaned either because J was sick too. Don't feel bad!

@AprilFool: Nice! I love those quiet mornings... Haha but can't remember the last time I had one of those!

    @Adira: that's great!! Go Xander!

@Mrs. High Heels: oh noooooooo! Hope you feel better soon! And booo for DH being out of town.

It's midnight here so I'm off to bed! See you tomorrow

So hard to keep up when I'm at work all day. I've been reading through but haven't had a chance to respond.

Welcome to the new faces here. I'm glad that you all have joined.

Isaac's second week at daycare went better. He still cries for a minute when I drop him off, but stops as soon as he can't see me. He is fine when I pick him up. He is still sick and teething. I failed today and forgot to send his sippy cups to daycare. They phoned me at work. So they helped him drink out of a normal cup since they don't have spare sippies.

@Adira: That is awesome that Xander drank so much at daycare, I hope he keeps it up.

@Mrs. High Heels: I hope that your feeling better, I never knew that could happen so late in the game.

@Smurfette: Loving her photos! Such a cutie.

@jodyblair: Happy Birthday C!! Did you/are you having a party?

@tororojo: I would love to wean and have been trying with no luck. First I had him almost daytime weaned, then I stopped nursing at night with no problem except he wanted to nurse more in the day. Now he goes all day at daycare without but gets up a couple times in the night to nurse again. Once he is settled into daycare I'm hoping to at least get down to twice a day and then wean completely. He loves whole milk but he loves the boobs even more!

@cheert16: I have to pack a lunch for him and it is hard. I send yogurt and a pouch every day and some cheerios. Last weekend I cut up a few types of fruit and send some every day. I also prepared a couple veggies and then just send some leftover meat from what we had for dinner. His first week I boiled a couple eggs and had that ready. I found this week having things cut in the fridge and just having to put them in smaller containers each night worked good.

@travellingbee: I definitely do not have baby fever. I couldn't imagine having a second one right now. It is hard enough to get through the day and be organized with just one.

@tororojo: Aww… you'll have time! Poor girl! Hope she gets better soon!

    @Adira: Yay for progress!

@Mrs. High Heels: Oh no! Poor mama! Do you think it's because you're starting to wean? I had a really painful clogged duct last week. I almost thought it was mastitis. But I didn't even realize that it was a plugged duct for probably 2-3 days. I just thought it was soreness from a bra or a bruise. It didn't even occur to me that it could happen so late in the game. Hope you get better soon! Do you need antibiotics for it?

@Pumuckl: I did! She woke up 10 mins later. It was nice while it lasted

@Mrs. High Heels: oh no!! Hope you recover quick.
@ALV91711: Glad day care is going better! I keep a spare sippy there just in case. How's his night sleep going?

  21. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

Of course now it's the weekend and I'm trying to give him milk in a sippy and he's having none of it! Gahh!

  22. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Smurfette: Night sleep is bad again. Him being sick isn't helping though. At least this week he went to bed easy.

I'm going to get a spare cup or two to leave there. I followed your advice of laying out clothes for the week and it makes the mornings that much easier.

@Adira: Keep trying. He will get used to it. It probably helps that at daycare other kids are doing it too.

Isaac had a 40 min morning nap, woke up for a few minutes and has been asleep so far for another 30. He must be catching up from the week and from being sick.

I think pretty soon we will be on one nap. At daycare he has been taking one 2-2.5 hour nap. Only a couple times has he had a short morning nap.

  23. Adira

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: I had spoke too soon! He didn't drink much this morning, but this afternoon and evening, he's had a bunch! I think he's had a good 14 oz for the day!

Oh wow, I can't believe he's moving to one nap! Xander's still firmly on two naps! At least on the weekend. At daycare, sometimes he only has one, but usually he still has two!

  24. Smurfette

    GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts

@ALV91711: we were going to do one nap today but she was ready for a nap at 8:30 after being up two hours. She took two one hour naps. And is now fighting bedtime. So overtired!
@Adira: I wouldn't worry about it. He will drink when he is thirsty!!

  25. ALV91711

    pomelo / 5621 posts

@Adira: I'm glad he drank that much. Has he taken more steps? I think if Isaac was just home he'd still be on 2 naps. But he has one good long one at daycare and today he just had a nice long one. I'm hoping that it stays this way.

Being sick and not sleeping good is giving the poor guy red puffy eyes. I feel so bad.

Tooth 8 is on its way, I hope it hurries up and we can have a break before the molars.

    wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts

@ALV91711: He's still practicing with the walking! He'll walk while holding our hands and then stop and let go and wait for us to back up a few steps so he can walk to us on his own! It's so sweet! But he's only done like 4-5 steps before he topples.

Thank you for the birthday wishes! We had a monster themed party yesterday and it was so much fun! C can be on the shy side so I was worried about how he would react with all those people staring at him and singing happy birthday, but he did GREAT!!! It was way better than I expected. He smiled and waved the entire time...so adorable. He loved his cupcake and even started eating it face first. It made for some awesome pictures. His one year well visit is in Tuesday and I'm excited to finally get some updated stats. Hopefully he's at least 18 lbs now. Such a little peanut.

@Adira: Aww that is so sweet walking towards you!!! And great to hear he is drinking out of sippy!! J has just started standing by himself can't waitfor walking!!

@Pumuckl: @Adira: @tororojo: @ALV91711: @Silva: @shopaholic: @AprilFool: @Smurfette: @silver1: thanks for the well wishes! Saturday was a bit rough because I woke up with a headache and was still running a low grade fever. No amount of coffee was helping, and it was so painful anytime I held my kids (sometimes both at once) because every time they pressed against my left breast it was scorching pain! Today has been tons better! I woke up refreshed because I got a good nights rest, and I took them to church so dropped them off to children's ministry for a few hours. By the time I came home, it was lunch then naps. They had synchronized naps so I napped too. N is now watching my little pony while I type this and J is still napping.

Speaking of naps, J still takes 2 naps on weekdays, but when it's the weekend I usually try to get him to do one nap so I can sync up both my kid's naps.

@silver1: DH isn't coming back until tomorrow afternoon!

@jodyblair: so adorable! Glad he did well for the guests! I know the feeling about being worried in social settings with a shy kid because my daughter is on the shy side, but she's come out of her shell a lot with each passing year!

  32. Mrs. High Heels

    blogger / eggplant / 11551 posts

Speaking of milestones and walking... I said I can't wait for walking , but what I really can't wait for is for J to stop putting every random thing in his mouth!! It'll make life so much easier the day that happens. Yesterday I took the kids to the park, and before I could get to him (bc N needed my help with something) he had stuck a piece of dried chewed up gum in his mouth, yuck!

  33. jodyblair

    kiwi / 611 posts

@Mrs. High Heels: Carter puts EVERYTHING in his mouth. Our dog loves chewing up sticks and always manages to drag them in the house, and no matter how well I vacuum, Carter will find every microscopic piece of the stick to put in his mouth. It's so gross.

Anyone else's baby nowhere close to walking? I know Carter is on the cautious side, so I'm not worried, but he's hardly even cruising. He pulls up on everything, but instead of cruising he will get down to crawl and pull back up again to get where he wants to go. He has taken a couple of steps behind a push walker but he would much rather pull up on it and then sit back down.

@jodyblair: OMG, your little boy is sooooooo adorable!!!! Glad he enjoyed his cupcake!

@Mrs. High Heels: Glad to hear you're feeling better! Now that I'm done pumping (Friday was my last time), I'm scared of getting mastitis! Especially since you just got it!

Also, that gum incident - yuck!!! I hear you on wanting them to stop putting everything in their mouths!

@jodyblair: While Xander's starting to take his first steps, he still crawls a TON! And he'll cruise around on some pieces of furniture, but usually he just drops down and crawls where he wants to go! And he only really started some serious cruising this week (at 13 months), so I don't think C's too far behind!

@Adira: That is awesome that you are done pumping!

@Mrs. High Heels: @jodyblair: @AprilFool: @Smurfette: @Adira: I hear ya, B puts EVERYTHING in his mouth! I'm so over pulling everything back out...

@Mrs. High Heels: So glad your feeling better! We have the same schedule albeit for different reasons. B takes one nap in daycare and two on the weekends (except for when we are out'n about).

@Adira: Yeah for being done pumping. I'm sure your body will adjust just fine! Think positive!
