@shopaholic: Oh I totally missed this... She sounds so close - you'll have a walker in no time!
@Smurfette: I know it is not the safest spot in the car and I'm not sure about American laws but would it be a possibility to have her on the front/passenger seat (w/o the passenger airbag being active)? That would make you notice if she's drifting off and you could talk to her and keep her from falling asleep?
All you bees with walking kiddos - I have a question for you:
One of my PT friends mentioned that it is usually 15w from when the kids pull to standing to walking unassisted. Was this true for you?

@Pumuckl: I wouldn't feel comfortable with that at all. I don't know if it is even legal. We want to keep her RF until 2 and hopefully even longer.
R pulled herself up standing like a week after she started crawling. So a week or so before 7 months. First step was a week or so before 10 months and started full on walking a week and half before 11 months.

@AprilFool: Insanely cute. Like whoa.
Is anyone else now 1 year olds very "emotional" as we've been calling it? The last couple weeks have been rooouuuugggh. They did have shots, but that should only have bothered them for a couple of days. I can't tell if they are getting molars or not; they never let me look that far back. They've just been sooo fussy, needy, and they'll by super happy one minute and wailing the next. They're not sleeping as well and waking up early (like 4 a.m.) when they do sleep "through the night." I don't know what's going on, but I really, really hope this isn't just toddlerhood and it's going to be like this until they're three....oy.

@Smurfette: @Pumuckl: At least in our state, I'm pretty sure the law is that they have to be in the backseat, unless you drive a single-cab truck and therefore have no other option. I wouldn't absolutely swear to it, though.

@Smurfette: Oh I would def. keep her rearfacing. But as I said I have no idea whether this is legal I know some parents here have their rearfacing seats on the passenger side.
So if my tired brain did the math correctly that be about 15 weeks! So maybe there is some truth in that... That would mean I'd have a walker come mid/end June...

@Mrs. Blue: I don't think R has been herself since she got her shots either. I know she is teething. One molar is in and the other bottom one is ready to break though. She is so fussy, starts crying and no clue why. Not eating as good. And so so tired.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Pumuckl: I think that when LO that pull, crawl, etc later, move on to walking faster though. So it might be sooner!

@Mrs. Blue: Oh that sounds like not too much fun in your house right now. But've also had some epsiodes of that. For us it is usually linked to not enough sleep and getting theeth - oh those theeth... I'm just going to be so glad when that chapter is over!!! Also there seems to be a 55w wonder week:
http://www.thewonderweeks.com/mental-leap-8/
Maybe that has something to do with it?
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Smurfette: I wouldn't mind at all if it were sooner. B weighs around 26lbs so all the carrying is getting really exhausting. But we shall see.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Pumuckl: My app does say they are in the 8th leap "for 24 more days" Why the &*%# are "wonder weeks" not a WEEK?!?! Gah..
nectarine / 2591 posts
@silver1: I wish I took these! My pics of her are all a blur.
@Mrs. Blue: Emotional is a good way of putting it! The head on the floor sobbing tantrums have really ramped up these last few days when she doesn't get her way.
@shopaholic: H and K seem to be at the same stage with walking. I just want her to take that first step already. I know she can do it but sometimes she is overly cautious and other times she has no fear at all.

@Mrs. Blue: Argh! How long the "weeks" are getting are killing me! The 7th leap was torture.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Pumuckl: @Mrs. Blue: We have 5 days left. Sweet Jesus I hope that is true!

@Smurfette: @Mrs. Blue: Haha, it is still looming for us... My EDD was 03/26 so it is right around the corner...
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@Smurfette: I was really confused, until I remembered that the wonder weeks goes by what adjusted age, which is why we have 24 days and R has 5. Dear Lord, I hope you can give me good news in a week that the "emotional" state is just due to a wonder "week."

@ALV91711: I'm so sorry that the teacher made a big deal about that sippy cup! That would make me furious too! I do thinks it's smart to save your complaint for something more major, unless you have an easy opening to bring it up to the main teacher.
@Smurfette: Pete is the same way! I've been off for two weeks and he has been a dreamboat when it comes to his sleep. Long naps and 11+ hours at night. All of a sudden, on my last night of vacation (of course!), I noticed his bottom left gum was big and swollen (molar). Now, he is just beside himself at night. He cries nonstop for hours, even if I hold him. He woke up every two hours last night until we finally brought him into bed with us at 4am. I am so tired at work. I CANNOT wait for this thing to break through, although it kills me that there are seven more lurking under the gums still to come...
You are a trooper for taking care of her alone! I have my DH home and my in-laws staying with us this week to help out, and I'm still exhausted and run down.
@shopaholic: Yes, it sounds like she will be running around the house any day now! Have the camera ready!
@AprilFool: Awwww great pics! I love her expressions in both of them! Sooo cute!
@Mrs. High Heels: I was so sorry to read you had mastitis, especially this late! How are you feeling today? I hope its starting to feel less tender.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Mrs. Blue: So I don't know anything about wonder weeks, but Xander has definitely been more emotional lately. He's been waking up from his afternoon nap crying, he'll start freaking out in the middle of dinner, he'll throw things when he's frustrated, and he'll throw himself around in his crib if he's fighting a nap! It's been ROUGH!

@QueensBee: ahh sorry to hear about Pete's teething. Hope it'll break trough quickly for you!

@Pumuckl: K started pulling up to stand and crawling I think about the same time (7.5-8 months?). A week away from 13 months and still not walking unassisted yet.

Ok, here's our update
LO's name: B
Age: 13 months and change
Weight: a lot, like 25 lbs maybe?
Length: I think 30 or so inches
Number of Teeth: 5 and 3 more just breaking through
Clothing Size: 18 months, some 24 month pants over his cloth diapers
Cruising, Crawling, or Walking: walking; he's picking up speed (i.e. trying to run) but doesn't really do well with shoes on yet
How many ounces of formula/BM/milk per day: not sure, nursing 4-5 times a day, plus if there's a night waking, but that's usually only when he's teething
How many solid meals a day (and how much): 3- breakfast is just puffs or something to nibble on, lunch is fruit and leftovers from dinner the night before, and dinner is whatever we're all having, sometimes deconstructed
Any Words: thank you, this, water, buzz (like a bee); he imitates a lot of what we say though
Milestone you're most looking forward to: potty training? I am so sick of washing diapers (going on 3 years now)...
How's sleep going: decently well- 2 naps 1-1.5 hours each and then around 11 hours at night
Any plans for TTC: not in the immediate future, but we'll have to see how things are going/where we are a few months from now

@Adira: Wow, good job Xander!!! Love the excited look on his face!
@Baby Boy Mom: @photojane: Welcome! The more the merrier!
@blackbird: Did she sleep well for you though? Hope she did!
@photojane: We're doing good! Today was the first day in what feels like forever that I dind't have to wipe a runny nose!!! (And B hates it when I wipe his nose!) So I had a happy baby this morning aaaaand he still hasn't adjusted to daylight savings so he slept till 7am! Enjoying it while it lasts!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: @shopaholic: @ALV91711: Yeah! I had never seen him do more than 4 or 5 steps before, but once he started towards me, I just started backing up and he kept going! I was amazed at how far he went!!
@photojane: Yay! Welcome!! What is your LO up to these days? For us, Xander's FINALLY bottle weaned and FINALLY starting to drink more milk from sippy cups. Now I'm in the process of switching him from breast milk to hemp milk (he's allergic to dairy). And apparently walking is his new thing!
@Baby Boy Mom: Yay! Welcome! We need more Feb Mamas! How does your boy do with shoes in general? I've only tried putting shoes on Xander ONCE and he FLIPPED OUT! Now I'm afraid to try again, haha.
Ugh girls, this morning was rough! Xander woke up whimpering around 6:00, so I went in to nurse him, but when I put him back in his crib to go back to sleep, he immediately stood up and reached for me. I gave him a hug and rubbed his back and told him that he needed to go back to sleep and that Mama had to go to work, and he just kept looking at me with these sad eyes. I laid him back down, but he just sat back up again and reached for me and when I left the room, he started crying. Gahhh, breaks my heart!!

I'm so tiiiiiiired. I swear, its so much worse when you've had a glimpse of good sleep and then its taken away from you. I had a month long period where I started being able to function again, and realized how totally bananas I'd gone from sleep deprivation.
And now I'm slowly returning to that dark place. sob.
sorry- pity party over here. If my little baby is going to continue to grow, despite my strong insistence that she not, the least she could do is stop sleeping like a mother f-ing newborn.
If anyone is looking for an activity- we planted some wheat grass yesterday for our spring nature table (sorry, big fat hippy) and I let her play with the extra seeds (they are about the size/texture of pearled barley). They'd been soaked overnight so they were soft and kind of stuck to her hands a bit. I gave her two bowls and she spent 20 minutes taking them out of a bowl and putting them in another bowl. It made a giant mess, but was easy to sweep up. I guess its kind of like a rice table, but it was only maybe a half a cup of seeds so there wasn't that much to clean up. Fun times!
She didn't try to eat any of it, which shocked me (but that could have been because she was holding on to a little peanut butter toast leftover from breakfast, and taking a nibble of that occasionally. weird kid.)
And, in case anyone is still reading- I got a job interview! Its on T's birthday (good luck, hopefully?)! Its a perfect position for me, 2 or 3 days a week, and they will wait until August or September when I"m ready to go back. Such a relief- I was panicking about not being able to find something part time in my field/at the masters level, but this opportunity looks great (I don't know about pay yet, but we'll see).

@Baby Boy Mom: Assuming you have him in soft soled shoes? If not that will help. R still wears them most of the time. I ordered hard soled and they should be here tomorrow. Good sleeper!!
@Adira: I am sorry!! Do you think he just wasn't tired?
@Silva: Sorry about the lack of sleep!! It is so hard to readjust to no sleep after getting some. 20 mins! I can't imagine anything holding R's attention for 20 mins. That is awesome about the job interview. Fingers crossed!!
So I successfully kept R up on the way home last night. She was asleep at 645. Woke up around 530, but trying to get back asleep just never did. So far still just one side of one bottom molar is through, but her gums are just white and swollen. Hurry it up!!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Silva: Oh hugs mama And it is totally true that once you're sleeping like a human again going back to the night wakeup/get ups is SOOOOOOOO much worse!
Congrats on the job interview though! And it has to be a good sign its on T's birthday! What a good luck charm!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Silva: Yikes - so sorry to hear about your sleep issues! But yay for the job interview!!! That's exciting!!! I hope you get it since it sounds like it might be the perfect opportunity for you and align well with what you're looking for!!
@Smurfette: Yeah, he was definitely tired! He'd only slept about 10 hours at that point, so he needed more sleep. But he just wanted me to hold him and I wanted to so bad but couldn't! Luckily he only cried for a few minutes... but then I heard hm going "Dadadada. Dada! Dadadada. Dada! Dada!" Maybe he gave up on me? LOL
Wow! How'd you keep R from falling asleep on the way home? Good job, Mama! And that's awesome that she went to bed so easily! Bummer about waking up early though!
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@Smurfette: Oh no not the teeth again!!! But good job about keeping her awake! Did she nap better so she wasn't as tired?
