@travellingbee: Just under 5 weeks left!
Good luck with your fertility treatments. Did you end up needing treatment to conceive L?
28 lbs is great!! I think Xander's only 25 lbs. And that totally sucks about the terrible twos and how he's acting with you. Xander definitely acts worse for me too.

@Adira: No! We got pregnant the first month we tried! We were really surprised to have a problem but I now have DOR. I'm 37 so I guess that's a major factor.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: Ugh, I'm sorry! That's so frustrating. What fertility treatments are you doing first (if you don't mind me asking)? I hope it happens quickly for you once you start treatments!

@travellingbee: I am so sorry that you are having to get some treatments. What does DOR mean?
I am pretty sure R is around 27lbs now. She is getting heavy!!
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@Adira: @Smurfette: DOR is diminished ovarian reserve. Next cycle having a small polyp removed in my uterus and starting IUI with injectibles and a trigger. They are starting a bit aggressively because of my hormone levels. They doubt I'd respond to clomid. Sooooo hoping we don't have to do IVF. It's so expensive and none of this is covered.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: REALLY hoping that the IUIs do the trick for you and you don't have to move onto something even more expensive. It really sucks that most insurances don't cover fertility treatments.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@travellingbee: Fingers crossed for you! IVF is so expensive and it is a shame that it isn't covered with insurance.

@travellingbee: My fingers are crossed for you too! I'm sorry you have to deal with the fertility treatments plus a tantrum-ing toddler. Pete also whines and cries way more with me than anyone else. The joys of motherhood!
Has L settled into the daycare now? I remember that it was a rough adjustment for a while.
I really hope this round of treatment works for you guys!

@QueensBee: Yeah, he loves school now. It just took a couple of weeks... Now he gets so excited to go to school. He has a best friend there that he talks about constantly. It is sooooo cute.

We are still away and having lots of fun. Isaac is such a Grandma's boy this trip. Sometimes he calls her ama and sometimes mama, so it can get confusing. He is the best big cousin. His little cousin is 6 months and he loves hugging and kissing her, helping feed her bottle and playing with her. Yesterday he even wanted to pick her up. She pulls his hair and eats his fingers and he completely tolerates it.
@travellingbee: I hope the treatments work the first time and you are pregnant with #2 soon.
@Adira: Can't believe how close you are to having #2 here. I like the name you have picked.
@Adira: You asked about vitamins. We aren't giving anything. I did give him vitamin D but around 10 months or so I just forgot about it. At his check up at 18 months I was told they've changed the recommendation and they should be getting it until 18.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: They should be getting vitamin D?? Ahhh! I was actually wondering that because I know my OB told me I should be taking a vitamin D supplement since I live in New England. Maybe Xander should too.

Today I was that person with the tantruming toddler on a plane. All over goldfish.
We are home and exhausted. I'm going for a good nights sleep as I'm back at work tomorrow.
It broke my heart tonight when Isaac was babbling away to DH and asked for more Aria, that is his baby cousin. Those two kids love each other so much already.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@Adira: I'd ask his ped next time about it. I have to remember to pick some up, especially now that it is winter.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@ALV91711: Awww, sorry about your flight!! Hope you all got a good night's rest! And that's so sweet about Isaac wanting his cousin!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
So Xander has finally come around to something OTHER than sausage at home! I've been feeding him chicken nuggets and he loves them! What should I try next? Hot dogs are supposed to be good, right?
Also, what kind of veggies do you guys feed your kids (that they eat)? We're still mostly just giving Xander the stupid Gerber carrots because he eats them, but I would love to feed him something CHEAPER. Actually, I guess I should try just NON-Gerber carrots and see how that goes...
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@Adira: LO 2 likes (every other day) steamed broccoli, butternut squash, corn and cauliflower. She also likes raw carrots.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@autumnlove: Thanks! I'll have to try those. I tried sweet potatoes but he didn't seem to be a fan (crazy kid).
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: R still won't eat veggies. Give her some just about every night and she looks at them, and takes them off her plate. Roasted cubed sweet potatoes, maybe 2 times a week, but that is pushing it.
R will eat turkey meatballs, chicken sausage, turkey sausage, ground turkey/beef, chicken (at day care), chicken nuggets, hot dogs, fish sticks, some fresh, turkey deli meat. She won't eat grilled chicken, but has eaten some rotisserie chicken I bought at the grocery store. Of course it all depends on the day.
Not gonna lie, last night she was a mess and wanted to eat 5 seconds of being home and I didn't have the energy solo, so she ate vienna sausages. My Mom told me to buy some to keep on hand. Girlfriend ate almost the whole can.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Thanks for all the details! I definitely need to try more meats because now my current rotation is sausage one night and chicken nuggets the next. Although he eats a lot of different meats at daycare... not sure why he's so picky at home. Bummer R still won't really eat veggies. I don't have any advice because Xander still just eats those Gerber carrots or a pouch. I give him a pouch every day just to get more veggies into him, but the pouches are so friggin' expensive.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: yeah pouches are the only way she does. Sometimes she will eat them at day care. She loves fruit at least.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: That's good about the fruit! Xander JUST started liking bananas, so now he likes watermelon and bananas, which I think is crazy that he doesn't eat more fruit. Although he supposedly eats it at daycare... guess peer pressure really does work.
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: She will eat fruit cups (oranges, peaches, pears) packed in water. Then most fresh fruit. I just don't buy a lot since it is winter and they aren't in season. She won't eat banana's anymore. She used to eat them all the time. Then around 14-15 months, she decided they suck along with avocados.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Friggin' picky kids liking one thing and then suddenly stopping. Xander's starting to not like his Gerber carrots too... probably because I give them to him EVERY SINGLE DAY - I'd get sick of them too! But now I don't know what to feed him. I need to try fruit cups again. I tried them a while ago when you suggested them, but Xander wasn't having any of it. Maybe he'll like them now.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
I don't know if we're starting the beginning of the Terrible Twos or if today was just a bad day, but Xander has been an absolute nightmare ever since we got home from daycare! Just tantruming left and right and crying over nothing and clinging to me and refusing to have dinner and just being sooooooooooo dramatic! I had to pass him off to Hubs before I lost my damn mind.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Ugh, and now Hubs is being a jerk. He got Xander down to bed and I said that it sounded like he had better luck with him than I did and he was all "Yeah, because I actually played with." F you - I had to make Xander dinner and then start making OUR dinner - obviously I couldn't devote all my time to playing with him unless the whole family was just supposed to go hungry. Grrrr... need angry emoticon right now...
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Especially since he was just playing video games while I was dealing with a freaking out toddler while trying to make food! He's in for a rude awakening when baby #2 arrives and it's all hands on deck all the time!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
@Adira: playing video games isn't playing with your son!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: No, that was when I wasn't playing with him because I was making dinner and stuff. Once I handed Xander off to him because I couldn't handle the whining anymore, he stopped playing video games and played with him for a good 30 minutes and then did bedtime. So at least when he was watching him, he gave him his undivided attention!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@Smurfette: Yes! And it gave me a much needed break! I'm hoping tonight was just a fluke and Xander will be in a better mood tomorrow!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@travellingbee: I congratulated you on your other thread, but will do it again here!! CONGRATULATIONS!!! And so awesome that you got the BFP right before you were going to start treatments!!

@travellingbee: OMG, congrats! Welcome to the pregnant mommys of spring 2013 club. So, so happy for you.
Not much to report here. Still only sleeping the first part of the night in his crib before having to move him to bed with us.
ETA: Not sure I ever told you guys I was put on (modified) bedrest. I still get to get up but most of the day they want me laying down.
pomelo / 5621 posts
@travellingbee: Congrats!! That is so exciting!
@Pumuckl: I'm hoping his sleep gets better. Are you on modified bedrest for the rest of your pregnancy?
@Adira: Do you ever just try saving some leftovers and giving him that? Isaac loves to eat whatever we are having, I know that you tend to eat after Xander goes to bed. Some nights we eat after Isaac is in bed but I've been putting in an effort to have more family dinners. He will eat almost anything and way better portions this way.
@Smurfette: Nothing wrong with quick and easy meals some nights. Especially when you are solo so much.
The last two nights here have been super rough. While we were away he slept decently, although I think sharing a room we woke each other up a bit. Monday night it took 2.5 hours for him to go to sleep and then he had one wake up and was up just after 5:30. Last night he went to bed fine then woke up 2.5 hours later and took almost 2 hours before he was back sleeping soundly. Only to wake up at 4, although he quickly went back to sleep and up for the day at 5:30. He seems to only want to sleep with one of us there. He will lay quietly in his crib if one of us sits there. We are exhausted. I'm sure hoping tonight is better.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
@ALV91711: sorry your sleep has been rough too. Same thing with B - he'll (sometimes) quiet down if one of us is with him in his room but as soon as we get up his eyes blink open and he is back to screaming bloody murder. So usually we just take him to bed with us where he curls up and just goes to sleep. We tried transferring him back to his crib a couple of times but he'll just wake up and - yes you guessed it - scream. I just hope that one day he'll magically STTN again.
With bedrest I guess I'll have to be careful until around Christmas which is when I'll hit 36 weeks.
hostess / papaya / 10219 posts
@Pumuckl: this describes our exact situation with L right now too. hoping he goes back to STTN again soon. I want my bed back!
