I'm 15 weeks and I've been feeling good for the last 2-3 weeks. Seems like my first trimester problems are done. I like that I'm no longer going to bed at 8:30 :-).

I SO jealous of all of you who already know or will soon know the sex. My next appointment isn't until mid July, and I'm not sure my Ob is going to do the scan then. Gah! There are tons of sales going on here right now, so I'm dying to buy baby clothes, but I find it so hard when I don't know what it is. I don't know how you team green mamas do it! I've barely seen anything I would consider to be gender neutral.

@mynoahbear: ugh, the flu in June?! Not cool! Glad you are feeling better.

@lamariniere: I could never be team green! Dh just told me he wants to be surprised for #2, I was like no way! I'm going to want to know more for the second one since ideally I want one of each!

@mynoahbear: Welcome! The flu during the summer sucks; glad you're feeling better!
@mrsdoily: LOVE the baby clothes! The no pants shirt is too cute.
@MrsCastro: Exciting!! Congrats on your little man
@lamariniere: @Pirouette: I could never be team green either. I say it's a surprise no matter when you find out! I think just having a brand new baby is enough of a "surprise" for one day.

AFM, wow, I've been busy! I thought that summers were supposed to be the relaxing part of teaching, but I've been just as busy as during the school year. Finally, I have this week with nothing major planned other than some fun family celebrations.

I'm 14+5 today, and at 13 weeks we had an appt. The doctor still couldn't get a heart rate count (I'm starting to wonder if their equipment is out of date or something), but said she did hear it three times... the baby just moved around too much for her to get a count. She called the baby a "fart in the bathtub" because that's what she heard when it was moving back and forth. No gender scan scheduled yet, but our next appt is July 24th.

We also revealed on fb on Sunday. I wasn't planning on announcing until we found out the sex, but I'm showing already so there's not really anything to hide anymore!

@amreis: ahhh so cute!!!! look at that face! he perfectly expresses his feelings about no longer being an only child, haha! and i totally agree, a new baby is more than enough of a surprise for me without the gender surprise at birth!

in other news, i finally told my boss! it went SO much better than i expected. I still haven't told the big boss here, but I will likely do that sometime next week. It's great to know i have my boss's support though, i feel so relieved!

and I should be finding out the sex on Friday at my anatomy scan!! I can't wait!

anyone have anything fun planned for the long weekend?

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@amreis: awww, doggy looks a bit sad, like he knows what's going on!

@Pirouette: glad it went well announcing to your boss. And I'm so jealous that you are finding out the sex so soon!

No long weekend here, but Vienna has a number of city beaches, so we have plans to hang out at one on Saturday with some friends if the weather cooperates.

In fun fetus news, I can feel mine! (I'll be 16w tomorrow). I've been feeling little flutters and bubbles for the past two weeks and last night I felt a very clear kick! When I lifted up my shirt to look, I could see some movement on my belly, and DH was there and saw it too, so that is very exciting. I don't think I felt movement until week 17 with my first, but everyone seems to say you feel the 2nd one sooner. I'm also starting to have a little belly. Most people can't tell I'm pregnant still. But I don't think I looked like this until closer to 5 months with my first!

@lamariniere: how cool! i can't wait to feel kicks! (thought i felt a flutter the other day, but decided it was probably gas ) I can't believe you can already SEE movement!

    @amreis: i love your announcement!!!

@lamariniere: how exciting...i will be 16w this weekend and i cant wait to feel baby boy...

AFM, we have our next follow up Dr. apt 2 weeks from tomorrow and our anatomy scan on the 29th...

we are having our bedroom carpets installed this weekend to try and sell our condo... so nothing real fun planned for us.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend!! We had our first of two anatomy scans on Friday and baby looked adorable! Baby was bouncing around like crazy but refused to uncross its legs, giving the tech a tough time, but she is pretty certain... It's a girl!!! She said not to paint the nursery just yet and that it will be confirmed at the second anatomy scan. I'm so excited! All the measurements looked great and none of the down syndrome risk factors were present. Feeling good!

    1) How far along are you now? 18 weeks tomorrow!

    2) How are you feeling? any weird symptoms? some stretching pains, but other than that i'm feeling good! definitely more energetic than in the first tri (though this damn heatwave is sucking the life out of me!)

    3) What is on your current to-do list for baby? choosing a name and trying to start looking at the big items we need to buy - crib, stroller, etc. i think we're gonna do some looking this weekend!

    4) Are you having a baby shower? Do you know when? Yes, I think so, but i'm not sure when.

    5) Are you registering? If so, where? I think we're going to register at Amazon, but we haven't started yet - i feel like a slacker!

    6) Are you showing? Have people commented on your bump yet? No one has commented yet (other than DH) but I'm definitely starting to show! i think i had a growth spurt in the past two days!!

    7) Have you felt baby yet? Only once for sure so far, and it was a few weeks ago! I can't wait to feel her more consistently (and for DH to feel her!)

    8) What are you most excited about in the next few weeks? Feeling legit kicks!!

  11. mrsdoily

    1) How far along are you now? 18 weeks 2 days

    2) How are you feeling? any weird symptoms? I'm feeling pretty good!!! I have been having a lot of round ligament pain, and I have been burping a lot of stomach acid (yay reflux). My biggest complaint is my digestive system...primarily pooping. It's miserable and I have terrible hemorrhoids.

    3) What is on your current to-do list for baby? Start building a registry!

    4) Are you having a baby shower? Do you know when? The second weekend in October!! Probably a Harry Potter themed one, boy or girl!

    5) Are you registering? If so, where? Babies "r" Us and Target

    6) Are you showing? Have people commented on your bump yet? I have started to show. Most people just comment on my cute little bump! (I hate when they touch it though, because I know its 2/3 fat and only 1/3 baby)

    7) Have you felt baby yet? I thought I had, but I think it was just gas. To be honest, I just can't tell. lol

    8) What are you most excited about in the next few weeks? We have our anatomy scan on Monday, so I'm excited to learn if it's a boy or a girl. Then my mom is visiting next weekend to do some baby shopping!

    1) How far along are you now?
    18w1d

    2) How are you feeling? any weird symptoms?
Great! Not many symptoms other than incredibly dry skin on my legs. And my boobs are definitely bigger. I'm going to need some new bras soon.

    3) What is on your current to-do list for baby?
I feel like I'm in a holding pattern since we don't know the sex. I can't even think of names because I don't want to be bothered thinking about names for the wrong sex. Since this is our second, we only need one or two gear things and clothes (I gave away most of DS's baby clothes) and we have most everything else. Of course, there is some fun stuff I want to get too when we know the sex.

    4) Are you having a baby shower? Do you know when?
    No.

    5) Are you registering? If so, where?
    No.

    6) Are you showing? Have people commented on your bump yet?

Omg, in the last week I have gone from beer gut to pregnant lady. I think people who don't know me can't decide if I'm pregnant or fat, but people who do have said they see the bump. And I definitely see it. I feel like I didn't really show with DS until about 5.5 months!

    7) Have you felt baby yet?

Yes! I've been feeling it for the last few weeks. The last week I've had really regular strong movement after every meal.

    8) What are you most excited about in the next few weeks?
The August 16th anatomy scan cannot come soon enough!

@Pirouette: if I were registering, I would definitely do amazon.
@mrsdoily: Harry potter! Love it, please post pics

@mrsdoily: ugh, i'm sorry about the hemorroids - i'm dreading them!

@lamariniere: oh my god the boobs! whenever i see my friends, they freak out at how monstrous they've gotten! No one notices my tiny little bump because they are distracted by the gigantic melons above it, haha. I swear they are growing more every day, and i'm already up 2 cup sizes! i'm still so bummed you didn't find out yesterday baby better cooperate next month!

  14. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@Pirouette: 2 cup sizes! Gah! Enjoy them while you can, I guess I've gone from a very loose C to a busting out C within the last 2 weeks.

  15. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@lamariniere: ha i just want some assurance they are done growing! i was a B pre-preg, bought 2 new C bras in the first tri, and I'm now way busting out of them! bras aren't cheap, and i'm a little worried that I may go from a 32 to a 34 or even higher once i start gaining more weight, so i'm trying not to spend too much $ on new bras, but the C cups seriously don't fit at all anymore! DH is enjoying it more than i am, LOL!

  16. mrsdoily

    apricot / 367 posts

@lamariniere: I totally will!! The baby not cooperating is one of my biggest fears right now, because if he/she does not, we won't be finding out until birth unless another ultrasound is warranted by a real medical reason (which finding out the gender is not). The type-A in me is freaking out that this might happen. I think I'm going to eat pure sugar and do a few jumping jacks before getting down to business I think

  17. lamariniere

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@mrsdoily: haha, I've been swearing I'm going to do jumping jacks or cartwheels to get the kid to turn if I have to when we go the next time.

    pineapple / 12566 posts

@Pirouette: oh, I know! I'm going to wait until I absolutely can't squeeze into my bras anymore before getting new ones. I wish there was something like a Filenes or TJ Maxx here so I could get some decent quality ones that are cheaper.

    So update on my appointment:

Good news: We are having a BOY!!!! We really didn't care either way, but it's sooo nice having a name and a gender to attach to. I love calling him by his name now or referring to him at "Your son" to DH and told the cats when we got home that they were getting a baby brother! Also, I have been feeling the kicks! Turns out baby boy is hanging out breech right now, so all those flutters and kicks down in my crotch area? All him!

Bad news: the ultrasound showed a potential defect with his heart. They aren't 100% sure and the ultrasound tech said that 18 weeks is a wee bit early to do a definitive anatomy scan (meaning not everything is developed enough to tell for sure if everything is fine/not fine). So I have go back in 2 weeks and get another ultrasound. I will then meet with a high risk OB to go over the results and potentially a pediatric cardiologist depending on the results. So fingers crossed that little man's heart is actually find and it was just a blip on the ultrasound!

Also, say hi to Baby boy:

@mrsdoily: congrats on the little man! Keeping fingers crossed that everything is fine with his heart.

    olive / 65 posts

@mrsdoily Congrats on your boy! I agree, it's nice to be able to start thinking of the baby as a little boy or girl, and to be able to begin considering names. If it helps at all, I ended up having to do a fetal echo for a potential heart defect (AVSD) with my last pregnancy, but it turned out not to be there, upon closer examination. I'm hoping for the best for you and baby boy!

    1) How far along are you now? 18 weeks, 6 days (almost halfway there! WHOA.)

    2) How are you feeling? Any weird symptoms? I'm feeling about the same as I have for the last...twelve weeks, give or take. Still dealing with intermittent nausea (which is bearable thanks to wonderful, fabulous Zofran) and a bit of fatigue, but I've busted out the ridiculously-named Snoogle to help me be a little more comfortable while I sleep.

    3) What is on your current to-do list for baby? Just about everything! After the immense relief of a completely normal anatomy scan (here's to a boring pregnancy!), I created a Google spreadsheet of baby gear and shared it with my husband. The sheer variety of stuff we'll need to get is a little overwhelming! We're also going to start looking into classes: birth prep, infant care and CPR, breastfeeding, etc.

    4) Are you having a baby shower? Do you know when? I don't think I could stop my mom and grandma from putting one together-- not that I'm against it! It will probably be in late October/early November, when I'm sure I'll be large and in charge, but hopefully comfortable enough to be willing to entertain.

    5) Are you registering? If so, where? We'll definitely be registering, but I'm not sure where yet. Probably Amazon and at least one brick-and-mortar store. Any suggestions? Target? Buy Buy Baby (I HATE that name)? Babies R Us?

    6) Are you showing? Have people commented on your bump yet? I've officially passed from the "whoa, too many burritos" phase into the "yeah, she's knocked up" phase. No one that didn't already know about the pregnancy has commented, but who knows how long that will hold up.

    7) Have you felt baby yet? I've felt some intermittent kicks or jabs, and I think I actually SAW her move last weekend-- my belly contorted itself for just a second while I was on the couch...so weird!

    8) What are you most excited about in the next few weeks? Feeling stronger, more regular movement, making some decisions and setting up a registry, narrowing down our list of potential names.

  24. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@sosaysmegan: I second your wish for a boring pregnancy!! Re registering, we were going to do Amazon and Buy Buy Baby (i've had terrible experiences in the past buying gifts for people on babies r us, and there isn't a target anywhere near us. but once we got started we realized we really didn't need to register anywhere but Amazon, because you can add anything from any website to that registry! It was super easy and i did it all from home (we did go to buy buy baby to look at some of the items first).

just wanted to share, baby is definitely moving in there, and DH can finally feel her (she's still very subtle, but definitely moving a LOT!) it's so sweet! it has definitely helped us connect with baby, just being able to feel her in there. and i am finally starting to show, at almost 20 weeks, yay! Hi ladies! Sorry I have been absent.... migraines aren't doing that great now a days But I wanted to check in with you all!

    1) How far along are you now?
    20 Weeks
    2) How are you feeling? any weird symptoms?
Not great. Migraines have been pretty bad- so far this trimester I've been to the ER 3 times for that. And my back kills, chasing after a 2 year old and playing/sitting on the floor all day is hard on your back when pregnant!
    3) What is on your current to-do list for baby? Ummmm...... I've done nothing so far..... so everything. We are going to do construction to LO's new room before we can move her in there and start on the nursery, but I've started some artwork to put in there. And then we have to get all the new furniture. Since this one is team green I have to find some more gender neutral things like clothes, mesh bumper, sheets, etc. We already have all the big stuff from LO though.
    4) Are you having a baby shower? Do you know when?
My mom asked me and I said I didn't want one.
    5) Are you registering? If so, where?
    No.
    6) Are you showing? Have people commented on your bump yet?
Yes. Today I ran into a friend and she was like wow, I didn't realize you were that far along, check out that bump! And another girl that goes to the same library class with us every week asked if I was pregnant.
    7) Have you felt baby yet?
Little bit, not as much as last pregnancy though.
    8) What are you most excited about in the next few weeks?
I have to get an upper level ultrasound because of the migraine meds I take, just to make sure baby is healthy. I'm very anxious for that!

Ladies! Our board is dying! Let's liven it up again!

    1) How far along are you now?
    22w6d

    2) How are you feeling? any weird symptoms? cravings?
Feeling very good other than constipation. Booo. I've become a big fan of prunes and flax. I haven't had any unusual cravings lately.

    3) Do you know the sex?
    Yes! A girl!

    4) Have you picked out a name?
We have a few ideas, but nothing concrete yet. It will be a secret until she is born.

    6) Do you know where you are giving birth?
Pretty much everyone I have spoken to here has recommended the same hospital. We are going to tour it on Friday but I'm pretty sure I will deliver there. The big bonus is that all of the staff speaks English and my doctor is fine with delivering there too.

    7) Have you made any baby purchases yet?
We bought a new stroller a few months ago and DS is already using it so that we can get maximum longevity out of it. As soon as we found out it was a girl, I went on a minor clothing shopping spree (all sales).

    8) What are you most excited about in the next few weeks?
We are going to France next month to see family and friends. My SIL had a her 2nd baby last week, so he will be about 6 weeks old when we see him.

    1) How far along are you now?

    2) How are you feeling? any weird symptoms? cravings?
I had been having a little middle back pain, but i got a small memory foam pillow for between my knees and it's been great! new this week...my face is breaking out. I made it this far, and now all of the sudden, boo no cravings yet!

    3) Do you know the sex?
She's a girl! and a very active one!

    4) Have you picked out a name?
    We've picked a first name, but aren't 100% on a middle yet.

    6) Do you know where you are giving birth?
Yes, the hospital where I was born

    7) Have you made any baby purchases yet?
I bought a diaper bag on sale a few months ago, but that's still the only purchase i've made.

    8) What are you most excited about in the next few weeks?
We are going away for a long weekend at an inn/spa in September just to get away for a little. I'm definitely planning on getting a nice prenatal massage! I'm also excited for cooler weather and fall clothes

    2) How are you feeling? any weird symptoms? cravings?
Ok..... I've gotten some meds to help my migraines but for some reason the neurologist doesn't want to give me the higher dose even though the OB says it's safe. But some is better then none
    3) Do you know the sex?
    Yes! A girl!
    4) Have you picked out a name?
Max Aron for a boy, Lillian Hannah for a girl.
    6) Do you know where you are giving birth?
Same hospital that LO was born..... DH and I were born there too
    7) Have you made any baby purchases yet?
I bought a changing pad cover before even TTC because it was on sale for very cheap and I knew I needed a gender neutral one. Other then that.... I've started some artwork for the nursery.
    8) What are you most excited about in the next few weeks?
The high holy days are coming up, excited to celebrate the new year! Also we are currently undergoing some construction in our house in our guestroom/soon to be LO's big girl room. I'm excited for that to be done so we won't have all this banging and LO can nap again, and so we can start moving LO over and preparing the nursery!

    1) How far along are you now? 22w4d

    2) How are you feeling? Overall, really good. I've been having weird, slightly painful stretching and achy sensations in my abdomen, I think from baby growing and things squooshing around, but nothing serious. On the mend from a yeast infection, ick. Baby is definitely getting stronger and has been thumping around in there -- it's definitely not a fan of having any pressure on my belly and really lets me know it! No real cravings, although I was out for a walk last night and thought I smelled baked beans. It smelled delicious and I contemplated going to the store for some, but then realized the thought of eating them was way less appealing than the smell was.

    3) Do you know the sex? Nope, we're team green!

    4) Do you have names picked out? We had picked a girl name and a boy name long before we even TTC. All our kids will have my last name as a middle name, so at least we only had to worry about first names. We're not really telling, though...maybe closer to the due date?

    5) Do you know where you're giving birth? My midwives only work out of one hospital, so yep! It's part of the large university system here but is one of the smaller satellite hospitals. I still need to schedule a tour, but from what I've seen and heard, it's really nice -- it has all private, all-in-one (L&D and postpartum recovery) rooms with showers, jetted tubs, etc and is certified "baby-friendly."

    6) Have you made any baby purchases yet? We got a glider-recliner awhile ago, and we have the crib (but not the mattress). We found a pack-n-play super cheap at a yard sale and have picked up a few clothes here and there. We've also got a dresser which will double as a changing table, but haven't got the changing pad yet. And the nursery is painted (that counts, since we had to buy the paint, right? Haha).

    8) What are you most excited about in the next few weeks? DH is away for work for a couple weeks, so I'm looking forward to him coming back. Also, work should be getting a little less crazy which will be nice! Otherwise, just enjoying what's left of the good weather.

@PurplePeony: haha DH likes to press really hard on my belly to wake her up (and especially with cold hands) and she kicks like crazy - i told him she doesn't like it but he's convinced she's playing with him.

@Pirouette: Oooops, I did, I'm still team green. Thanks for catching that! I've decided on a sun and cloud theme for the nursery so I'm making some canvases out of fabric. One is a quote from a book, one is a sun, and one is clouds. I have no idea what else to do for the room though.... I'm going to make some cloud decals for above the crib but other than that I'm stumped.

@Pirouette: I actually think it's going to be a boy. That was a tired mommy mistake LO's bedding is all pink, plus she's still in a toddler bed and it's the same size as crib bedding so she needs to keep it. I'll probably just find something with a pattern that's blue, green, and/or yellow. For LO we just have sheets so I'll do the same and not buy a full bedding set. Are you waiting because you're moving? With LO I moved at 8 months pregnant so I hated waiting even that long!

we ended up purchasing the britax b-safe and b-ready about 2 months ago when they were having their yearly sale...

hopefully we will get my shower on the books for end of october...i swear its going to be like 50+ people we both have very large families...so it should be fun to see everyone in the same room...

@artbee: yea, we're currently renting, and our "nursery" is actually DH's office, so he'll have an office mate for the first year. sometime next fall we plan to buy a house, so then we can really start setting everything up! the alternative was moving at 8 months pregnant, but I really wanted to be close to work for the first year for pumping/bfing and general adjustment (and close to the hospital in december)! we are doing peter rabbit sheets, so i couldn't resist registering for the quilt as well, even though i know we won't use it on the crib (it's just so cute!) but we didn't get anything else for it, as the sets seemed a waste.

@MrsCastro: nothing for the nursery yet (see above), but we registered for the UB Vista (it is our car basically!) we will need a car seat, but sparingly (we don't own a car, so only when we take cabs), so we will get a convertible one rather than an infant one. my parents will likely also buy one and will have it installed in their car to get us home from the hospital.

If the parents are throwing me a shower (i think they will, but no one has said anything to me yet, and they definitely are not the types to throw a surprise!), i hope it is in October. i think it will be on the smaller side though, which is fine by me

@Pirouette: Love Peter Rabbit! My friend actually made LO a quilt, I have it hanging on the glider. It does pretty up the room, even if it's not on the bed. Now that she has a toddler bed I use it when we have company and I actually care what the room looks like. I think the nursery is more for us during the first year anyway..... LO's nursery is pig theme and it was the last animal and animal sound she learned, even though she's surrounded by them.

Yay! Getting some action on this board!

@Pirouette: my SIL and I's sons are even closer in age, just 4 weeks apart! It's funny that we have been pregnant at the same time both times. My other SIL just found out she is pregnant with her 1st and is due at the end of April, so that will be another close cousin. Your September getaway sounds like fun. I had one prenatal massage with my first pregnancy and it was amazing! Did you ever find any maternity clothes that work for you?

@artbee: I love your girl name choice. And that is so exciting about getting the nursery together. We are doing basically nothing for baby 2, she will sleep in our room and then share with big brother when the time comes.

@PurplePeony: that sounds like one nice birthing hospital!

@MrsCastro: I would love to see nursery photos! I seem to remember you were thinking about doing strips. I think that looks so neat when it's all done. Your shower sounds like it will be a lot of fun with so much family. My 1st shower was small, just close friends, and I'm not having one for baby2. We bought a new stroller since we need one that can handle the snow here. We got a Bugaboo Buffalo. I also bought a used Maxi Cosi car seat from a friend. We don't have a car but we will need the seat to get the baby home and we occasionally rent cars for weekend trips. (With DS we used the car seat maybe 5 times before he grew out if it.)

@artbee: love it! yea that's exactly what i was thinking. and i figured i'd be better off getting the quilt now than having to hunt for it when she's a toddler and i want something to throw on her bed. and yes, the nursery is totally for us, i wanted to go somewhat gender neutral so DH didn't have to work in a pink palace can't go wrong with peter rabbit!

@lamariniere: that's so cool about the other SIL too! they'll all be best friends when they get older. One of DH's cousins is due in about a month, so we'll have her LO right around our LO's age, but that's about it.

the maternity clothes shopping was kind of grueling! everything was massive on me and nothing fit right. i ended up getting some longer normal (non-mat) t-shirts and a few cardigans, and i'm hoping those will last at least through the fall. i couldn't find a single maternity shirt that fit...i bought two pairs of work pants that are completely not flattering but at least they'll fit once i outgrow mine...maybe when i get bigger they won't look so dumpy on me? part of the problem is that i need petite length so the selection is weak. It doesn't help that one of the pairs i ordered off gap online and they shipped the wrong style! so i'm not sure if i want to go through the trouble of exchanging them...sigh...everyone raves about maternity pants, but I am disappointed so far!
