@SupernovaJ: Such good news! I have yet to hear the heartbeat because she couldn't find it at my first appointment and my last u/s we saw it, but she never did switch on the sound (I was so overwhelmed with looking at the baby I forgot to ask), but I am going to at the 12 week for sure!

@luckypenny @megz06 i never knew it was so hard for the ob to get a good read of the heartbeat! it's very tricky to locate just the right spot and she had to try several times and still wasn't 100% happy. it's so tiny at that point and the baby does move around, plus any little shift in your body will throw it off easily. i'm sure you will hear it really soon!

@SupernovaJ: That's the exact reason why I am too chicken to get a doppler. I don't want to be at home, trying to find the heart beat and freak out when I can't. I suppose if I really wanted to try I could come into the clinic after hours and use their's

@megz06: I'm too scared to get one, too! My OB tried it once at 9 weeks, but we couldn't hear it. He didn't try again last week, either, but we saw it on the u/s. I'm imagining that he'll try at the 13 week one. It's so hard, even with an u/s, that I'm sure I would not be able to find it and freak!

Had my appt. today at 12w1day! Heard the little heartbeat and all looks good. I am officially in the second tri and maternity pants are on the horizon...had to try on 4 pairs of pants this morning before I found a pair that worked. Hope everyone gets to feeling better soon...the second tri is around the corner!

And be careful with those home u/s! It took my ob a while to locate the heartbeat so you might get yourself worked up over nothing

Had my appointment yesterday! Got to hear the heartbeat for the first time!
It's such an insane thing to hear, makes it all seem a lot more real!! My next appointment is 10/24!

YOU GUYS. We had the NT scan this morning, and the baby flashed its parts. So we have a possible BOY on our hands and I am so excited (I secretly wanted a boy, but since it's our first and we really want one of each eventually, it super doesn't matter this time). The tech said it's too early to be definite, but she doesn't often see it that clearly. So we're keeping it secret until we have the anatomy scan (in NOVEMBER) to confirm/show otherwise but for now I am holding onto this joy.

So at our ultrasound this morning the baby is measuring at 7 weeks and should be at least 9 and there was no heartbeat.
The ob said its possible that my dates are off, but I'm not optimistic. I have very regular periods. She ordered a blood draw to look at my hcg levels today and Friday. She said he would do her best to get back to us on Saturday.
I just don't really know what to say.

@T.H.O.U.: I don't know that it matters, but I assume this Friday is my NT Scan, like everyone else. My doc just calls it an u/s. As long as I can see baby, I don't care, lol.

We just had our NT and everything looks good although the full results and bloodwork will be available Monday. The baby was hiccuping like crazy but overall was very mellow and stubborn. I had to cough, move around, and the ultrasound tech had to jiggle the wand on my belly several times because she couldn't get the money shot. Baby was just "chilling on the hammock" and would not move its head up for the measurement until we nearly gave up and the tech went to check my ovaries. We went back to the uterus and there it was, in a perfect position to finally get the NT measurements. Lol. The tech thinks it's a girl - she said boys are usually crazy and all over the place.
I'm measuring 12w5d so we are finally sharing the news with friends! Praise God.

@megz06: I actually had to make an appointment at a different office for my NT scan. And I had my regular 12 week appt with OB as well where they just listened to heartbeat and took my vitals. I'd double check

@luckypenny: I will be sure to do that. They took measurements last time, so I assume they will this time, but I don't know exactly what is all different between the NT scan and what the tech already did with my u/s.

Thank you ladies! Yes, I'm so relieved to just tell people now. I feel like I've been uptight and paranoid the entire first trimester (just my personality) even though it should really be a joyous time. We told some friends today and they were so, so thrilled for us.
There are lots of NT scans coming up this week for our April mamas! I know they will all go so well and you will be able to breathe a sigh of relief. If you decide to share with friends shortly thereafter, it really does sink in and gets so much more exciting, and helps to keep the fears at bay. I'll be thinking of you all!
