@LovelyPlum: Owwww your poor perineum! And sorry you were so stressed, that's crazy that your bp changed so much! But that's wonderful that baby was looking so great, hopefully you can relax now!

@LovelyPlum: Yay for a healthy, thriving little one!
I am super impressed with all you TG mamas. I can't wait until each one is born so we can see how April netted out with the sexes!

Hope everyone is having a great week with no nausea, increasing energy, more baby movements and all that fun stuff.

thanks ladies. The magical cream really is helping, but it's still kind of awful to pee. And I was so sore yesterday, because, well, the exam didn't really help matters. But hopefully it goes away soon. It does not make me look forward to tearing during labor, though...

And thanks for the support over the u/s. I'm glad it's over, but I'm so glad that little one is doing well Can't believe we're practically halfway done already!!

One more week til our anatomy scan!!!! Getting impatient over here. I know of three Facebook friends who are due March/April and all three of them found out the gender this week--and all three are boys!

@jhd: so exciting! It's a week and a half for me! I usually stay pretty chill about most everything but I REALLY can't wait for the scan! And that's a lot of boys! Maybe you'll have a girl just to be unique!

@LovelyPlum: Oh yikes. That sounds awful. I'm afraid of the aftermath if tearing too now!

@jhd: @PEAPIE: I'm excited for you ladies, too! Living vicariously through you

@PEAPIE: thanks. Yeah, it's not great, and it has made me a little bit gun shy about tearing. The good news about PP, I guess, is that there is a cute squishy baby to snuggle to keep your mind off of it

I'm so excited for all you ladies that are finding out what you're having!!! We don't find out until Dec. 16...ugh.. I don't know if I can make it another month! By that time I will be 22 weeks! That seems kind of late to me...but maybe I'm nuts. Are you guys finding out sooner than 22 weeks???

Oh and btw, I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon but it's just a regular appointment. I'm excited to hear the baby's heartbeat again though!

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@CharityAnne: someone else's office doesn't schedule until 22 weeks...@gilmoregirl, maybe? Mine could have been anywhere from 18 to 22 weeks, but they had an opening on a day that DH was off from school, so we went with 18w5d. Enjoy hearing LO's heartbeat tomorrow!

I cannot wait for all these upcoming scans!!!! I'm impatient for you all

@CharityAnne: I think the timing really depends on the doctor/practice. I found out the sex super early, at 16 weeks!! And my dr looked at 15 weeks, though baby's legs were crossed so she couldn't tell for sure then (though she guessed girl and was right!). My doctor seems unusual though in the frequency of ultrasounds--in addition to ones she sends me for at the hospital at 12 (NT), 16 (as), and 20 (as) weeks, she does ultrasounds at her office (with a lower resolution machine) at every appointment I have with her, which is every 4 weeks for now (every 2 weeks later on). But from what I gather from other posters, and people I know IRL, that's waaaay more than typical! I think it's really because she has the ability to do them in-house: she doesn't even bill it to my insurance: I've only had to pay 1 co-pay to her so far (not including for bloodwork and hospital stuff--that stuff gets billed separately)!

  18. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@nana87: After this one, I think I get frequent ultrasounds, because of my history. At least in the third trimester I do. It'll be weekly towards the end.

  19. nana87

    cantaloupe / 6171 posts

@Dandelion: that makes a lot of sense, and I'm sure it'll be reassuring to have frequent ultrasounds! I don't have any risk factors and this is my first pregnancy, so I think my doctor just does this for all of her patients. I'm actually not even sure what one would do at a prenatal appt without doing a scan--my exams are so quick! I leave a urine sample, then the nurse takes my weight, then my dr takes my blood pressure and does the ultrasound, and answers any qs. I usually am only with her for like 5-10 mins!

  20. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@nana87: My doctor has an in-house machine, too, and he pulls it out a lot. I think he just prefers seeing the baby to hearing it on the doppler, so it often gets pulled in during an appointment. It's nice!

  21. jill_a55

    apricot / 448 posts

@nana87: I am jealous! I have only seen the baby once, and that was at my 8 week appointment! My next US is at 20 weeks and that's the gender one. My dr. has an in-house machine as well, he's just old school I think... because I know my insurance would cover more! Once I'm in the room, I think my appointments are like 5-10 minutes long max, and that is mostly because him and my husband talk sports the whole time!

  22. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

So, besides finding out LO is a boy and that he's doing well...

I have to start going weekly for progesterone shots. DS was 8 weeks early, so this is to prevent this. Don't bother putting that on the "upcoming appointments" list, though...my next actual prenatal visit is the 13th of December.

  23. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@CharityAnne: Yup, I'm also later. My doctor's office just does the anatomy scan at 22 weeks; I haven't asked why. Mine will actually be at 23 weeks, because of Thanksgiving and scheduling issues. C'est la vie.

  24. luckypenny

OK I have an appointment wednesday for an ultrasound. It is at the same place where I had my NT scan done so I thought it was genetic testing related also. Now, however, I'm begininng to think that since they did such a detailed anatomy scan at my OB's office, that this ultrasound is no longer supposed to happen and maybe my insurance won't cover it. But I really want it! I told DH not to go to the other one because we had this next one coming up. AND MIL wanted to come too

Should I call and double check or just show up and get it and deal with consequences later? I have super super good insurance so maybe they won't give me a hard time about it?

I had my anatomy scan today. Baby was moving like crazy so we didn't get great pics to bring home, but we got to see everything and found out we're having a BOY! We are thrilled!!! Everything looks good.

My mom & MIL got to come with us & DH was able to take the whole day off so we all went to eat afterwards to celebrate.

@LovelyPlum: My next OB appt is 12/20 & we have another ultrasound scheduled for 12/30. Little guy was positioned weird & moved so much they didn't get all the measurements they needed.

It's a boy! Everything looked and measured great on the ultrasound today! Baby boy was staring straight at us, so we didn't get the best pictures, but got to see and measure everything that was necessary! He's got long legs like his mama!

Next appt. is 12/19 for I think just an ob check.

@jill_a55: Congrats on a baby boy!

We've got lots of boys coming in April! I have a hunch we're having a boy too! But maybe that means it will be a girl. We'll find out next Tuesday at the reveal party!

    @jill_a55: Congrats!

@SupernovaJ: Looking forward to your scan results today. Good luck!!

Seems like this board is more male dominated thus far and the WB boards are definitely female dominated. Pretty crazy!

    @PEAPIE: @megz06: Thanks Ladies!

@megz06: It's funny because everyone I know IRL that is pregnant and due around me is having a girl!! Guess there needs to be a man for all those little ladies to swoon over

  36. jhd

    coconut / 8079 posts

@PEAPIE: that's so fun you are having a reveal party! will it be friends and family or just family? our folks aren't party people but i love the idea. MIL was so excited she texted FIL and SIL before we even got a chance to tell them.

    @jill_a55: congrats on your boy!!

  37. PEAPIE

    apricot / 344 posts

@jhd: It's just family from both sides. Since we all live pretty close to each other, I thought it would be a good way to let everyone know at the same time. We're just having dinner and doing the cake at the end. (Blue icing in the middle for boy/Pink for a girl) Nothing too crazy. But I'm going to want to cut that cake before dinner! I don't want to wait till the end!

I think it's so fun to see family get so excited about the baby (My mom drives me crazy about it sometimes). But that was extra special that your mom/MIL got to see the whole ultrasound. I'm sure they treasure those moments!

  38. jhd

    coconut / 8079 posts

@PEAPIE: they are super excited. it is fun. MIL texted me this am & told me to hug my belly b/c she wanted to send her grandson a hug. she's too cute. i'm not sure i would have the willpower to not cut into that cake!!! but it will be such a fun surprise to share with everyone!!

Our anatomy scan went well, they were able to get all the measurements and they re-confirmed we're having a little girl. Baby girl is about 12 ounces currently at 20 weeks. Heartbeat is good in the 140s. I'm feeling her move a lot more these days and can even see from the outside when she punches or kicks (I can't tell what is what yet), buy my stomach will ripple in small peaks and waves. It's crazy.

Next appointments are on Dec 17 - regular OB appointment and monthly growth scan.

Hope you all are having a great weekend so far!
