@LovelyPlum: My appointment isn't until next week. They are going to do a urine test though. I asked what for and she said to test for whether I have a UTI (which I still don't understand-- because I know when I have a UTI but whatevs... lol).

@mrsog: I got a blood test to confirm but don't think it's necessary. I had the appointment about a week after my BFP and prior to my first prenatal appointment at 6 weeks (this was so early because the doctor had to reschedule and it was either that, or after a big work trip overseas and they preferred to see me before).
@T.H.O.U.: Oops I should have updated you before! I will not be having an appointment on 9/4 (canceling with OB#2). Instead, I am having another ultrasound with my now regular OB on 9/12. Thank you!

@mrsog: my ob would not see me until I got a positive blood test at my regular doctor's office.
So the good news is that I can consider myself officially pregnant since the blood test came out positive. Now I'm just waiting for them to fax it over to my ob so I can schedule that first appointment which the secretary said would probably be in a few weeks. However, my doctor that saw me last week found out this Monday that she has shingles. I had the chicken pox when I was in second grade so I should be fine, but I'm suppose to let the ob know. She didn't sound too concerned and I'm trying to stay away from dr google. Just having trouble being patient I guess.

@mrsog: Nope...I just gave them a urine sample and they dipped a test in it and declared me pregnant. That's all they needed to see to confirm.

Appointment went well! Finally saw OB instead of NP which was nice. She is my favorite! Said the little babe is measuring great and had a good heartbeat. Man I can't wait until I can hear it! Next appointment isn't for another 4 weeks

I had my initial bloodwork this morning (the one where they take like 5 vials and check for anemia and all kinds of whatever), and I very nearly passed out. I had three nurses hovering around me, bringing me water and cold compresses. I would have been embarrassed except I KNEW it was going to happen and I warned my nurse beforehand. It's also why I asked my doctor to give me a lab slip so I could get the blood drawn on a Sat morning when my husband could drive me. I am such a fainter. Ugh.

@gilmoregirl: ugh. Sorry that happened, but I'm glad you were prepared. I had 8 (!!) vials taken on Thursday, and I felt awful afterwards. I took an iron supplement when I got home, and that helped a lot.

@LovelyPlum: Just sent my husband out for iron supplements, because I'm still feeling awful. I just noticed that the gummy prenatals I switched to don't have ANY iron, so there's no way I am getting enough (unless there is a lot of iron in frozen waffles, cause that's about all I eat these days

@gilmoregirl: good! My vitamins don't either, so I keep some supplements around to take when I need. I hope that they help! Just fyi, they can make you constipated, so take a fiber, or eat some fiber/yogurt so they don't make you sick!

I am so ready for my appointment at 4pm today. I have not been excited or even wanting to talk about the pregnancy until we see how things go today. Please keep fingers crossed!

I realized I never updated from my 8/30 appt. They just confirmed with a urine test and gave me a lot of info. We go back on 9/4 for an ultrasound. I can't wait to have that confirmation.

I am happy to say that it's starting to feel real now. The ultrasound tech I think knew my history because she turned the screen away from us but right away the sound of a heartbeat came through and she said all looks great for 7 weeks. Heartbeat was 142.
