I go tomorrow, and I'm nervous. I know I'm getting another ultrasound, and I'm worried about the part where they measure the baby...I just want to make sure that little one is growing on time.
Oh, and I don't want to get weighed either. I am super worried that I gained weight from last week. But if LO is healthy, how can I complain?

Are you all doing the first trimester screening? I think we are going to do it this time but its not until 12 weeks. That seems FOREVER away. Am I crazy to want to keep this a secret a bit longer until we can confirm everything is ok again? I hope I'm not showing too much by then.

@T.H.O.U.: oh that's weird! I just filled out an online form and they are supposed to call me with the date (it isn't done in my doctor's office internally) so I have no idea how much choice I'll get in the actual scheduling. I should have just called but my dogs were barking their heads off when I was thinking about it so I figured it was easier to do online, haha

@T.H.O.U.: I'll be 10w5d at my ultrasound...I'm guessing they'll bring me in just a few weeks later for the first trimester screening? I'm not sure if that's too early for the NT and stuff. It's funny...for an office who has told me I'll get a lot more ultrasounds this pregnancy, I find it a little silly that I have to wait til 11 weeks for my first one, lol.
That's weird how they schedule you. Mine is always booked solid pretty much, so it's hard to really get a good day and time, but I get my next appoitment scheduled at the end of each one.

@Dandelion: This one is just scheduled funny because basically my doctors office calls the hospital who does the NT scan. So they schedule it and then just call me with the date and time.
Yea, since the NT is between 11-13 weeks, I guess you will get two back to back. Its crazy you don't get a single one until 11 weeks though!

@T.H.O.U.: Ah, ok...our ultrasound stuff is done in office (another reason why I think it's weird I had to wait). My appointment is supposed to be LONG. First with the ultrasound, then a nurse appointment (not sure what that even means) and then with the OB.

@Dandelion: Thats kinda what my first appointment was like. Nurse questions/BP/weight/sample then ultrasound, then meeting with OB. It took about an hour for the whole thing. All the normal ultrasounds are done in office, but the NT is done somewhere else due to equipment.

The appointment went really well. I got to see the little plum, who is measuring at 9w0d. I'm pretty sure I should be 9w1d, but he seemed to think it was no big deal. We also had a good chat about my family history, as I have a sister with a birth defect...specifically, she had a stroke in utero. I've been concerned that her history put me at a higher risk of having a baby with the same condition, but he said that he didn't think so. We could run some clotting tests on me, but they are several thousand dollars, and he didn't see a need to do so at this point. I feel relieved about that, because that is the issue I had been most worried about before I started having miscarriages. And apparently the kind of issue my sister had would more manifest itself in later term miscarriages, so he doesn't think mine are related to that.
Anyways, I am feeling better. At this point, I don't think we're going to do the NT screening, but I do have another ultrasound at my next appointment, which is on 9/16. And DH will get to come!

@T.H.O.U.: I'm really torn about the NT screening. I didn't do it last time, but now I'm tempted. But reading up on it, 5% get false positives. If I got a positive, I don't know if I would proceed with CVS sampling anyway. Would be reassuring if it was negative, but if it was positive...would probably just cause me anxiety the rest of my pregnancy.

It's starting to look like a baby! So in love.@T.H.O.U.: starting to tell people freaks me out, but I'm trying to go with it. It helps that I get to see the babe a bunch. I really am trying to be positive...we've starting talking about post-first tri. That's crazy!

Just came to correct myself from my earlier post about NT. it's not 5% false positive (seemed inaccurate after I wrote it). It's 5% get a positive and that means you have a 1:100 to 1:300 of having an actual genetic issue. So obviously that would make the false positives much higher.

Happy to report that Baby McD is looking GREAT! Had first appointment and u/s today. Measuring 7w 3d (1 day behind), heartbeat of 142 bpm. We didn't get to hear it, just see it, but I was already sobbing anyway! U/s also revealed a fibroid in my lower uterus, just something to watch for now.
My BP seems to be consistenly elevated (130/85), so I'm starting on some meds just to be extra cautious. I'm not really happy about it, but the Dr wants me to take them and come back in 2 weeks to check. Weight wise, though I'm overweight to begin with, I've lost a pound already and will likely continue to lose-- she recommended that I not gain anything all, hopefully.
I feel a huge relief having seen the blob and heartbeat. DH and I are both over the moon. What a great day!

That sounds kinda odd not to gain any weight. I was overweight with my first and even though I lost a lot, I couldn't help but gain.
