@Mrs. Blue: how funny about your DH! Not really... I may do something fun like a cake reveal or I may just tell her.

We did a cupcake reveal with DH's family and it was so fun seeing everyone's faces. Everyone gathered around his grandma and mom, since we gave them the honor. I just piped dyed filling into the center.
We're registering tomorrow!

@autumnlove: We have a definite boy name picked out, and did before we conceived. We also have two girl names, but I'm pretty sure we will go with one over the other.
We're using my grandfather's names for middle names (Robert for a boy, Elliott for a girl). The first names are ones that we love, others aren't always crazy about them. At first it bothered me, because we were sharing them and got a few wrinkled noses, but I've decided I don't care!

@Silva: Ha! Elliot is one of our boy names. Clearly, we like it, too, even for a different gender! That said, thanks to Scrubs, I've always thought Elliott is such a cute name for a girl.

@Mrs. Blue: We wanted to include my family names as middle names, since the babe will have my husband's last name- Elliott works well with both our girl names, so we are going with it! I think its more and more popular for both genders these days

@Silva: I think so, too. It's so cute for either. We really wanted family names as middle names, too, so I'm all over that!

I just can't wait to see baby's face after she's born to see if she matches the name. Seeing the 4D image of her face so clearly helped already!

P.S. Forgot to add this about our u/s yesterday. This one was a growth scan, and I was super, duper, crazy excited to know that they are at a pound each now! (Averaged anyway--one was 1.1 lbs. And the other was 15 oz.-good enough for this mama!) I have no idea why this caused such a reaction, but making it to the one pound mark made it seem completely real that these babies are really on the way!
Happy Saturday!

Wow that's great, @mrs.Blue! That means that they are on schedule considering how far along you are. Because at 22/23 weeks, a singleton is a pound and now your TWINS are a poud! They're super growers

I had my 18 week checkup yesterday and everything looked good. The blood work from the second part of my nt scan came back and things look normal. Baby girl's heartbeat was strong!

@blackbird: Thanks! May they continue to be "super growers"--although I don't know about two 7 or 8 lbs. babies inside me. There may be a day when I want them to start simmering down on the weight gain, but not today!
@autumnlove: Glad everything went well!

@blackbird: I swear, I've looked at SO MANY baby name websites, that none are calling me anymore. (Except the one I have my heart set on, that is.)
@hergreenapples: I love the idea of using your family names. Sounds wonderful!
@Mrs. Blue: Happy to hear the babies are doing well. Growing so fast!!!
@bpaig: I hope your gender scan went well!!!
@autumnlove: Happy to hear all is well and normal. Squee!

@jaguar: Everything went well! We did the full anatomy scan and saw four chambers of a pumping heart, good strong spine, functioning kidneys... put a lot of this mama's fears to rest! We did not get one single shot of baby's face though! A million shots of its little butt, but it refused to move its hands/feet from its face long enough for us to see
@hergreenapples: We are doing family names too! It's funny because it has me choosing names that I wouldn't have otherwise, but they have so much meaning because of who they'll be named for.
@autumnlove: Who knew "normal" would be such a great word!

We have our name picked out and our 19 week appt on Friday went well. Our multiple marker tests came back all clear and that combined with our full anatomy scan have eased this momma's mind!

@bpaig: We got a lot of butt shots too... haha. Shy babies.
@Pumpkinspice: Oh wonderful news!!!!
This was my 20 week halfway-bump shot!

20 weeks today, and we have our ultrasound this afternoon! Can't wait! I don't have a pic from this week because I've been lazy- going to take it tonight after the appt.
The floor my office is on flooded at work, so I'm really dreading going in to work today. I have a new office, but I have to move everything- & still figure out how to see my clients and get paperwork done. Uggggh.

I can't believe how far along we all are. I'm 19 plus 4 days today! Crazy!
@jaguar: Looking good!

@Pumpkinspice: Isn't it crazy that we are all just past or just about to hit half way? Time flies when you're growing babies, I guess!
@Silva: Eeew. That sounds miserable. Good luck at the appointment!

@Mrs. Blue: LOL It's been going really quickly. I can't believe in 3 days I'll 5 months.

I'm starting to look into daycare/nanny options, and I'll be visiting a daycare this afternoon. Has anyone decided what they'll choose?

@Mrs. Blue: BTW, I love your list of questions to ask at the daycare! I'm bringing the list along to my visit!

@jaguar: Looking great mama!!! Love that color on you!
@pumpkinspice: Cuuuuute!
@bpaig: Wow, you look awesome!
@Serendipity: We have no idea what we’re doing, because we’re not sure which city we’ll be living in!! It’s a bit stressful, but I have lots of time, I’m taking a whole year off.
So we had a midwife appointment yesterday and it went pretty well. She went over our anatomy scan results, and everything looks great. There was one small thing, I guess I have a low-laying placenta right now. She stressed that she sees this all the time, and it usually moves up as the uterus gets bigger. It does mean that we’ll have another ultrasound to check after 30 weeks. Fingers crossed for me please, as if it doesn’t resolve itself it’ll be a c-section delivery for me L. Just typing that out makes me feel teary!
Here’s my 22 week photo!

@serendipity: Good luck! We toured 5 different daycare centers and talked to one in-home provider (who we already knew) on the phone. We chose a Christian daycare center about 5 minutes from our house, and right on my husband's drive to work. We are really excited about it- but in case it doesn't work out, we have my younger sister as a backup option, who is moving in with us next summer after graduation to work/take classes, and if the daycare just isn't working we are going to ask her to be our nanny.
My husband went with me to all the tours and it was really nice because all my girlfriends with kids in daycare kept telling me to go with my gut, and it was nice to check our "guts" against each other. And we ended up agreeing on the place, so that's the one we went with.

@sslm: Oh that must have been really hard to hear I'm sure that the placenta will move up though, if she sees that happen all the time? I hope so! You look gorgeous at 22 weeks! Where did you get that dress?
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@serendipity: Thanks! It was helpful to me just to have something to remind me of what they might not have mentioned in conversation! I thought the process was a little bit hard, but in the end, knowing we chose a great daycare makes me feel better about leaving them with someone else! Good luck and keep us posted!
@sslm: Hopefully, it will move up and won't be an issue at all!

The ultrasound went great- everything looks perfectly healthy! Feel very happy and relieved!
My husband was learning about prenatally diagnosed kidney disorders this week in his rotation on the pediatric unit, so he was relieved to see that the kidneys are in good working order :). He gets pretty anxious from time to time because he spends all day working with medical issues, and knows all the things that could go wrong!
Next up is my glucose test in 4 weeks. They have a "breakfast menu" option, which I'm going to do instead of drinking the orange drink. My appt. is in the morning, so I just have to eat their prescribed breakfast (2 eggs, english muffin or toast with butter, orange juice, and milk) one hour before the appointment / blood draw.
Never heard of this before, but very happy as I wasn't looking forward to the orange drink based on stories I've heard.

@Mrs. Blue: do you plan to start daycare at around 6 weeks? I posted on the child care forum about nanny vs daycare and I'm still stuck on what to choose. I almost feel guilty for choosing a daycare at such an early age based on the responses. I visited the daycare near my work and it was nice. There were only 4 babies in one room with one daycare worker. I guess I'll look into possible nanny options too.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
We have *just* started talking about Daycare. I'm almost 24 weeks, it feels like we need to get a move-on. I'm just not sure what we want to do I'm hoping that as we look into it, one option just feels "right". We could technically afford a full time nanny, but it'd be so expensive (~2K/month) that I'm just not sure I feel like it's that much more worth it than some of the other options. We talked about a nanny share and we both think that could be a good option, as could in-home daycare. So we have talked about doing one of those options for the first year and then transitioning into a regular daycare at 1 year. I get 6 weeks of maternity leave for a vaginal delivery plus 12 weeks of FMLA so we are thinking of picking a firm start date in mid-July for the baby, so she'll be in the 3-4 month window, depending on when she comes.

We've been on the waiting list for infant care at our LO's daycare since I was about 12 weeks.
We may not even use it because DH is wanting to stay home if possible since I make the majority of our income.
But, we are def set with the daycare route if we choose.
I'll get a max of 13 weeks short term dis and then 12 weeks of unpaid FMLA if needed.
