@sslm: Hope your placenta moves up - we still have time on our side
@Silva: My mum was also very concerned about kidney function (she's a retired professor of medical imaging). We got our results yesterday and everything is normal
I want to reply to more of you, but it's tricky with the reply function since your posts are on page 21 and I'm on page 22...is there a way around this that I don't know about??
XP from WB: I had my second midwife appointment yesterday. I am kind of in love with my midwife and the whole atmosphere in the office. I love that I get to weigh myself in the privacy of the bathroom and even test my own urine. I love that my midwife says that she isn't concerned about me gaining too much (within reason, of course), but is more concerned about mothers who don't gain enough (I'm up 17 lbs at 22w1d). I love that we get to sit and chat about whatever concerns I might have and that our appointments last a whole 45 minutes. So glad I was able to get into midwifery care.
She went over all the blood and u/s test results with me. Everything was totally normal at my 19 week u/s, which is great news. My IPS screening/NT scan shows the risk of Down Syndrome at 1/100,000 and no increased risk for spina bifida. Got to hear the heartbeat again - it's right around 145 bpm. I know we are all hoping and praying for healthy babies, so it's nice to have a little bit of peace of mind
Happy Thursday!

@serendipity: We're not starting that early, but I'm not sure when we are starting for sure. I think I'll have about 8 weeks off, and then DH is going to take a couple weeks off and stay with them. Our hang-up is that the daycare we chose doesn't know if they will have room for us in the summer, so we may not be able to get them in until September. Thankfully, my mom is a stay-at-home-wife, and she agreed to come take care of them during the summer if we can't get them in daycare. I'm really hoping to be able to put them in when they are about 12 weeks, though, because I feel like with so many different people watching them it will be really hard to establish a routine/schedule. I think a nanny is a great option, but there were a few things that made us veer away from that: (1) the cost of really good nannies here is way more than daycare, even for two kids; and (2) if the nanny get sick, etc., we don't have any backup childcare available at the last minute b/c all our families live several hours away.

@jaguar: Me, too, friend. Getting through work is pretty much all I can do!
@hergreenapples: Glad everything is looking good! Your midwife practice sounds awesome! I spend maybe 5-10 minutes with my OB-definitely not the same feel as your practice.

@hergreenapples: I feel the same way, I love my midwife!!!!
So my parents are visiting this weekend and we're going to do a bunch of nursery stuff! My dad is going to paint, and my mom is making a roman shade. We're also hanging curtains and a chandelier. I'm so pumped! It's so bland in there right now.

@hergreenapples, that's awesome! Also, we are basically on the same weight gain schedule, within a pound or two of each other! Considering we're the same height and activity level, I thought that was neat

@Mrs. Blue: Thanks I feel very lucky to have gotten into the practice that I did.
@sslm: Yes, we're super lucky in Ontario to have access to such awesome, well-trained midwives...and to have it all covered by OHIP! How exciting about your parents coming to help with the nursery - you'll have to share photos with us when you've made some progress!
@blackbird: Wow - that is interesting! I don't feel upset in any way about how much I've gained so far, but I can't say I like the number on the scale very much. One of the downsides of being tall, I suppose, I'm never going to see a teeny tiny number! I can't remember if you've said if you're sticking with a paleo-ish diet during pregnancy? I have failed miserably
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@hergreenapples, my only issue is that I'm very close to hitting 200 pounds. My husband called me "Deuce" the other day at the dr's office! It's just very weird to see the number go up and up.
I haven't been paleo-ish. i was thinking I'd go towards primal but i had a cold last week and just felt too crappy to eat well. I'm being mindful of what I eat and trying to pick healthier snacks, but I'm also enjoying that I can eat something like a slice of banana bread and not have it go straight to my butt
pomegranate / 3895 posts
@blackbird: OMG - bless you! We must have been separated at birth. I am in the 190s and that's the part that's most difficult to swallow!
I hear you on the diet. I keep trying to go back to paleo/primal (more primal, as I don't think I can give up my full-fat Greek yogurt!), but I can't seem to get there. I'm still careful about what I eat, but grains seem to make their way onto my plate every day.

@blackbird: @hergreenapples: omg. I'm 5'11" and last time I checked I had entered the 190s. That was hard, even though intellectually I know it's for a great reason!!

@sslm: @hergreenapples: @blackbird: Have no fear ladies...I'm at 230 and am doing just fine! lol I've only gained 2lbs thankfully cause I surely don't need to gain much.
You all are just perfect!

Thanks @Pumpkinspice ! I've just struggled with the # on the scale my whole life, so it's strange to accept the weight gain... I know that makes very little sense!!! I'm working on it
pomegranate / 3895 posts
@sslm: @Pumpkinspice: Well I'm so glad not to be alone! Let's hope this means we're all growing healthy babies

I just converted my weight to lbs... 215. Well, that was from the last time I weighed in... I guess we'll find out if that's gone up at today's OB visit.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
@hergreenapples: @blackbird: @sslm: I'm joining your club on the weight issue. I'm actually pleased with my total weight gain number when I think of that seperately, but seeing the scale hit numbers I've never seen before is . . . unpleasant. I actually make DH turn around at the doctor's office so he can't see. I don't care if that's silly; by gosh, he does not need to know what I weigh pregnant or not!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
It's a very surreal feeling to lose control of your weight. Funny how the three of us are the same heights and weighs though lol. Everyone has that number on the scale that freaks them out, I guess :p.

OB said he was happy with the weight gain (trying to keep it minimal) - 3-4kg since the beginning of pregnancy is good.
Appt went well. Morph scan showed all normal results, and baby seems ok. We have to have our gestational diabetes test earlier than normal (thanks PCOS/insulin resistance!) so that'll be just before Christmas. I'm expecting to fail already.
Quick photo for today at 20 weeks + 4 days!

Hi all! I have my anatomy scan today and I'm feeling nervous!
Hope everyone is doing well!

@autumnlove: Good luck! I hope all goes smoothly, which I am sure that it will! I was super nervous, too.

@bpaig: Thanks! The hospital just called and the tech went home sick so my appointment is rescheduled for tomorrow. I get to be nervous for one more day!

@autumnlove: One more day.... good luck lovely! x
I took my 21+1 week shot today... same outfit as last week (oh how embarrassing) haha.

@autumnlove: Hopefully the tech feels better today! Can't wait to hear that it went great!
@jaguar: you look gorgeous!

I'm traveling for work this week, and I'm soo tired! It's times like this that I realize just how much pregnancy really affects your body!
I'll be back in town tomorrow in time for my appt with my old/new OB. Basically, the OBGYN I saw pre-pregnancy had double knee surgery and has been out my whole pregnancy. They've had me see one of his partners, but I'm really excited to have him back and get his take on everything.
How is everyone doing this week?

@autumnlove: hope your scan goes well!!!
I'm having a big meeting with my boss today. I want to talk to him about the possibility of my being transferred to my hometown while on mat leave. We'd live to move next fall. Wish me luck!
Also, I stepped on the scale for the first time in weeks and it wasn't as scary as I thought! I'm up 22 lbs. now hoping to keep the gain under 40.
Here I am at 23 weeks

@Mrs. Blue: I had that exact same experience last week traveling for work. It's amazing how exhausting growing a human is!
@sslm: Good luck! Big work chats like that always make me so nervous. I hope it goes well.
I'm having a lot less back/tailbone/hip pain since I started doing my squats all the way to the floor and sitting/bouncing on an exercise ball. So I'm grateful for that. I'm growing like crazy right now though. I am wearing a dress today that was way too big only one week ago. Stay away stretch marks...

@autumnlove: & @bpaig: Thanks, ladies!
@Mrs. Blue: It'll be good to have your regular guy back. Yay! All smooth sailing here. How are you feeling?
@sslm: Good luck with your meeting. You are gorgeous - totally all belly, that weight is. xx
@bpaig: I LOVE those balls. Seriously awesome.

Meeting was basically a bust. Kind of disappointed really. Apparently I shouldn't be worrying about my career right now bc I am pregnant...
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@sslm: Are you serious? Ugh. Last thing you need. Yes, it's amazing being pregnant - but you have every right to be thinking about your career too!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
I had my anatomy scan and the baby is still a girl! My tech wasn't very chatty and I almost fell asleep a few times since it took soooo long...one hour and 15 minutes.
She said my placenta is anterior and the baby looks good but didn't elaborate!
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@autumnlove: Sometimes the least amount of news is a good thing! I'm glad she's still a girl and things are ok. xx
apricot / 348 posts
@sslm: What...? I worry about my career more than ever now that I'm pregnant... I have college to pay for! Sorry the meeting was a bust So frustrating!
apricot / 348 posts
@autumnlove: Glad nothing popped up different than expected! Normal is such a boring diagnosis Yay for (still) baby girl
pomegranate / 3895 posts
@sslm: Loving your belly, it's very cute! Sorry to hear about your meeting. I would be seriously frustrated if I got that kind of response from my boss. Ugh!
@autumnlove: Glad all went well at your scan. Nice to know there's still a girl in there!
My baby has turned into some sort of kick boxing maniac. The movement has gotten so much stronger and is now very easily felt on the outside (except, of course, when DH is trying to feel it!). Last night I was sitting on the couch with my phone resting on my belly and every time the baby kicked my phone leapt into the air a little bit
Hope everyone's feeling well. I am a bundle of energy (on Sunday I did our groceries for the week, baked two loaves of bread, made a pot of chili and baked 50 chocolate chip shortbreads....I'm like a maniac. Apparently, my mother was the same way when she was pregnant...so I blame her), but am still looking forward to the almost two weeks I'm going to have off over the holidays...can't come soon enough!

24 weeks and 4 days over here!
That's great, @hergreenapples! I crash after I get home from the gym. The last 2.5 hours of my day is just useless.
blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts
OB appointment went good today! It's so nice to have my real OB back. I'll be 24 weeks on Saturday (Yay, viability!!), and I was measuring . . . wait for it . . . 32 weeks!! Whoa. No wander I can't tie my shoes anymore.
In other news, like @hergreenapples: was saying, the babies have suddenly turned into kicking fiends. I finally, finally felt them from the outside (didn't until 23 weeks) and so did DH. I told DH that I thought one was head down and one was breach because I could swear I'm getting kicked in the bladder at the same time I can feel kicks at the top of my bump. Turns out my appt today confirmed that they are positioned just like that. I am LOVING that I feel like I can interact with them for the first time. I push in on my belly and they kick or punch my hand as though they are saying, "Mom, stop squishing me!"
@jaguar: I'm feeling pretty good all things considered. I'm definitely getting to the point where I'm uncomfortable a lot, so I've made DH take over household duties like tying my shoes! How have you been feeling? I know you were saying a few days ago that you've been pretty exhausted.
@sslm: That. Sucks. They should NOT be responding that way. Ughh. Sorry.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@blackbird: Looking great!
@Pumpkinspice: Beautiful belly!
@Mrs. Blue: Great news. No WONDER you're feeling it - you are a rockstar, twin mama, seriously. I'm ok. The pregnancy isn't kicking my butt - my stupid workplace is. Another week to go...
No outside kicks for us yet - but I'm still 21+4 so I'm happy if it's still too early. I've only just been having softer kicks more regularly, so I'll hopefully get more soon.
I just want hubby to feel her move!!!

I have to have my Glucose Tolerance Test (the full one, yick) early .. coming up this Monday. It's scheduled for when I'm 22 weeks, instead of the usual 28, since doctor P is concerned that I'll have it thanks to the PCOS/borderline insulin resistance levels. That's why he kept me on Metformin, too.
I'm supposed to have a carb-heavy diet this weekend, then fast from Sunday night before the full 3-hour test. He skipped the quicker one, since he wants to know my fasting levels too.
Anyone got any advice for me?
