@Silva: Definitely noticed a change in movement starting about...10 days ago maybe (I'm 34 weeks tomorrow). My midwife had warned me about this. It went from feeling like kicks and jabs to feeling more...slithery (sorry..I'm sure that description makes sense to no one but me....sleep deprivation is messing with my brain!).
As for weight, I was up 30 lbs at 32 weeks. I really want to keep it under 40 lbs, so hopefully that's doable at this point!
@sslm: Starting mat leave four weeks from this Thursday (the day before Good Friday is my last day). It honestly can't come soon enough! I love my job but lately all I can think about is how much more productive I could be getting stuff ready for baby if this darn job wasn't always getting in the way!
@blackbird: It must be so cool to get to see baby on an u/s at this point! I haven't had one since 19 wks and I can only imagine the huge difference between then and now! Glad to hear that all is well
My workout clothes still kind of fit..but they look kind of ridiculous, so I went out and got some new shirts a couple weeks ago at Winners (Canadian name for TJ Maxx). Still wearing the pre-pregnancy pants...hopefully they'll last for the next six weeks.
@jaguar: The nursery is looking awesome and you are looking absolutely radiant! Yay for 32 weeks!
AFM, 34 weeks tomorrow! Busy weekend with baby preparations. My brother and I popped across the border to MI on Saturday and picked up the glider and I LOVE it - super impressive quality for the price (we got this one in grey and white: http://www.target.com/p/little-castle-charleston-swivel-glider-collection/-/A-14236372#?lnk=sc_qi_detaillink ). Also picked up the fabric for the curtains and I hope to get started on those tonight. Yesterday I started making some freeze-ahead foods for post-partum. My feet were SO sore and I was exhausted by the end of the day....and then I had the worst sleep ever. Feel like a zombie today Happy to have accomplished quite a bit over the weekend though!

Thanks, lovelies. I'm always chugging along just a few weeks behind you guys.. but that just means I get to ogle your babies quicker. Squee!

@jaguar: I love the nursery!! That owl is too cute.
Just found out from my high risk dr that there is a chance he'll be willing to let me deliver vaginally even though both boys are breech. I had zero idea that this was an option, so I have a lot to think about!
I posted this in the bump thread, but here is my new discovery: I no longer need hands to hold my ice cream! Also, it is impossible for me to act normal in a photo.

Hey ladies! 34w1d for me. I had the most amazing awesome midwife appointment yesterday. She really made me feel a lot better about everything. Last appt I saw her partner and she didn't make me feel very good. My midwife let me know my placenta had actually moved 2.5 cm, so it was actually 1 cm over the cervix at my first u/s, and is now 1.5 cm away. She seemed confident we'd get that extra 0.5 cm to avoid a c section, but if not she let me know that she would still attend the surgery and the baby would be placed in her care as soon as she is out and cleared by the pediatrician. This was such a relief as the other mw told me they probably wouldn't be there.
My blood pressure was great and baby girl was head down. It's so cool how they can tell that just by feel! Baby girl was also moving A LOT so her heart rate was high, but as soon as she slowed down the rate went right back to normal. My mw tells me they really like seeing that so then I felt really proud of my little girl
Lastly, I had a contraction while she was feeling around. She asked if I noticed it and said it seemed like Braxton hicks. I was happy to have her point that out bc I have been having them for a while and assumed they were BH, it was nice for that to be confirmed! All in all I left the office feeling just awesome

@sslm, that's so great! i haven't noticed any contractions yet. Just a lot of stretching/pinching/pulling sensations in my lower stomach!

@blackbird: that sounds promising though! I like signs that something is happening down there, even though I don't want her to come for a few weeks!!

@Mrs. Blue: You are adorable!!!
@sslm: Great news - sounds like baby girl is doing beautifully.

@sslm: So glad to hear you had such a great appointment! Go baby sslm!
@Mrs. Blue: OMG - that's hilarious! (And now I want ice cream!)
Anyone else feeling a little overwhelmed on a bunch of different levels? *sigh* I think part of it is pregnancy hormones, but I'm feeling like I'm barely keeping my head above water. I'm in a busy time at work and trying hard to stay on top of that (fairly successfully so far). I'm trying to prepare myself mentally and emotionally for labour and delivery and, more importantly, becoming a mother, and I'm also trying to do a thousand practical things around the house to prepare (finish the nursery, prepare freeze-ahead meals, collect postpartum supplies for me and a first aid kit for baby etc. etc.).
DH is, I think, trying his best, but he can't seem to grasp that not only am I running myself off my feet, I'm also doing it while growing a human and carrying 30 extra pounds. I swear, I'm not trying to be a martyr, especially because this is something women have done for millennia, but a little recognition/help would be nice, you know? My mum has been away in Florida for the last month, but she gets home today. I'm hoping that her help and support will relieve some of the stress
End rant - thanks for listening, ladies!

Hi ladies! Feel like i've been away for so long so this will be a long post! The past few weeks have been a little mad with work, then my baby shower. It's been a little stressful, but I'm getting back to normal. I'm at 31.5 weeks now!
A couple weeks ago I was trying to launch a campaign at work, plus a gal that I managed got let go, so I had to pick up her work the week of launch. Not fun! Lots of late nights. But we're launched now, and things have gotten a leetle lighter at work.
My "friends" shower was last weekend, which was a lot of fun! Although exhausting! It was about 50 people or so, and kids, so it was a bit mad. I thought a co-ed shower would be fun, which it was (felt more like a cocktail party than a traditional shower), but that means a lot more ppl. I also had a girlfriend fly in from LA the Thurs night before, so there was a lot going on!
I ended up planning most of it, and while it was a lot of work, it was good in that I could set it up exactly how I wanted it. It was in my building's common room, and it turned out really nicely! My girlfriends helped with all the set up for stuff I'd bought: roses from Costco, speakers & ipod, paninis, veggies/dip, cheese/crackers, dessert trays, and sugar cookies for favors. We hired a bartender (Columbia has a bartending program with cheap bartenders - who knew??) who served drinks and some boozy punch that my friend made. My husband got drunk. A good time was had by all.
I'm including pics of some of the cutest items - sweet little red shoes and some adorable clothes from Baby Gap. Baby shoes are the cutest!
Oh - and including pics of the sugar cookies that we had as favors. I got cellophane bags from Michael's and had my girlfriends wrap them & put ribbon around the top. They came out really cute!
I got lots of gifts (mostly off my registry) and it looks like a bomb went off in the home office. Half the gifts are still in their boxes. I don't have the energy to go through it, as it's overwhelming, and I'm not sure where we'll put it all! In the scheme of things, this is a good problem to have.
We finished our last childbirth class this past Tuesday at the hospital where we'll deliver. It was a 4-week series and had some interesting topics and guest speakers. The most interesting were on breastfeeding, pediatrics, attachment parenting, and general mental health issues. There was a lot of info that I already knew, but it was good for the hubby to hear that stuff, since he hasn't been so keen on the reading. There's a free infant CPR that comes with the course which takes place next week. I did wish there was a Lamaze component to it, though. I hope I can find some stuff online/videos to find out more on that.
I've also been realizing that although I'm thinking I have 2 more months, I could go early. And I don't feel ready yet! It's seemed far off before, and now it's starting to freak me out!
My bump has gotten noticeably bigger. It's kind of crazy! My coworkers commented that a couple weeks ago I wasn't looking so pregnant, but now... ;P I'm up about 22 lbs so far at 31.5 weeks. It's funny - I usu gain weight like the dickens when I start to eat a lot, but maybe this baby is taking in a lot of calories or something! I know some women who gained 50 lbs, and after the baby, it came off from breastfeeding. I'm hoping that'll happen for us all.
I have my family shower coming up in 2 weekends. A much smaller thing at a Chinese restaurant, so hopefully that will be just fun & not very stressful. I have another friend coming into town to stay with me over the weekend. I feel like a very busy mom-to-be!

Oh - and including another bump pic for 31 wks.
@hergreenapples - so glad to hear you liked your prenatal class! I was looking for something like what you described (lamaze, infant care, exercises with partners). Hope I can find alternatives to an actual class!
I'm with you on feeling overwhelmed, but then I have to take a breath and remember that I'll be ok, no matter what happens. I have to remember not to stress too much, accept help, realize that I don't have to be as "prepared" as I think I need to be. For ex, I ordered all these books and am disappointed that I probably won't finish them before the baby comes. I will prioritize the ones that I really think I should read before, and hope I can get to the others afterwards (and if not, it'll be fine!). My girlfriend keeps telling me I'm way more prepared than she was, and she's been a great mom so far to her 8-mo-old! I'm just a worrier at heart.;)
I hope that your mom coming back home will be a big help, both physically and emotionally/mentally. Sending good vibes!
@SSLM - my due date is Apr 25. Thanks for putting together a list for everyone
Glad to hear the great news about the midwife appointment!
@ Mrsblue - so excited you're due to give birth so soon! your boys are almost 5lbs - that is a lot of baby you're carrying in there!!! kudos to you!
Um - and your photo made me die. I love that you're making faces and balancing the ice cream on the belly. That, to me, is the ultimate characteristic of pregnancy - being big enough to use your belly as a shelf. lol!
@Pumpkinspice - great news on all your test results and what an amazing picture of baby girl pumpkinspice! Perfect profile shot!
@jaguar - so jealous that you've been on maternity leave already! man - i can only dream. i'll be working until the end so i can conserve my time off. And love the nursery pics! It's all come together so nicely and early! (you should see the state of our "nursery")

@nycbee: LOVE the Peter Rabbit Gap stuff!! I almost ordered some of that, but haven't pulled the trigger. Also, those cookies are adorable, and now I'm craving a cookie.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@nycbee: Wow, you must be exhausted! Such beautiful gifties. Seriously, the GAP stuff makes me sad we don't have that store here. Just beautiful, and the cookies look amazing!!!!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@hergreenapples, YES YES YES. I've hit this OMG stage of pregnancy. I have <4 weeks to go, my parents are massively stressing me out with stupid shit (my dad's having plastic surgery 2 weeks before my due date and my mom just had major plastic surgery and won't be healed by my due date, WTF), my body won't let me clean and do what I want (not without serious pain the next day!), I have books I wanted to read, I have grad school, I have tons of food on the calendar to make and freeze (and i wonder...will i even get to them all? What if the baby comes?) and i'm just....sigh.
I ordered a lot of stuff online. Postpartum stuff, etc, so that i don't have to go shopping. The nursery is kind of a mess because all our registry completion items came in this week. And I haven't finished her wall quilt because it hurts to sit on the couch and bend over the sewing machine.
You are not alone =P I realize none of this *absolutely* has to be done, but STILL! I don't feel prepared! i hate that feeling.
@Nycbee, i LOVE that onesie and hat. What an ADORABLE shower!

so, I don't want to alarm anyone, but we are DUE NEXT MONTH.
This seems bananas to me.
I've enjoyed all of your updates
We are going to a couples' yoga for childbirth class tonight that I'm looking forward to. Had our shower last weekend- tons of beautiful homemade items, but not much of the registry. I'm actually okay with this (at first I freaked out about how much we have to buy) because I get to pick out everything I want. We didn't get many clothes either, so I did a bunch of shopping (in person and online) this week.
Also got my order of prefolds, so I've been running the washer/dryer non-stop this week to prep them all.

@Silva: Next month - crazypants eh???? And THIS month for some of us!!!
My belly is getting so big, that it's starting to hurt from the heaviness/stretching. Ouch!

Well ladies here are some updated pictures!
We have a BPP scan, Growth Scan and NST tomorrow so I'm sure I'll have some more pictures of baby girl to share then.
@jaguar: Here is the owl bedding And you are looking great as usual!
All of you ladies look wonderful!!

YAY!!!! I had my ultrasound today and my placenta moved to a good spot!!!!! No scheduled c-section for me!!!!! I am so happy. Here's an awesome picture of baby girl's face, and my 35 week bump!

@sslm, YAY!!!! So jealous your baby cooperated for photos. At 35 weeks, there was NOTHING to be seen in my scan. The tech said mine was way too squished up!

@jaguar: you look wonderful! isn't it funny how much we (and baby!) can grow in a week?

Bellies are growing beautifully ladies!
@sslm: thanks for doing the list! It is so weird to see myself at the top, even though I won't be the first to go.
@silva: everytime I think about it being next month I get so excited and a lil scared. I am so ready but not at the same time
@nycbee: your shower looked lovely! those cookies are adorable.
@Mrs. Blue: am envious you can use your belly as a shelf. Mine does a horrible job. It is good at catching everything I spill tho. ooops! hehe
AFM - we have finished the nursery and are so happy with how it turned out. The decal was so easy to do and just looks great! I also had my maternity pics and shower which was just lovely. Baby girl was so so spoilt and loved! We just have to install the car seat now and I have to pack my hospital bag. Has anyone else packed theirs? Oh and need to wash everything as well but it has to stop raining for me to do that.
Am 36 wks yesterday so really feel the clock ticking and only have 2 more days of work. Super excited about that as my body is really starting to feel the pressure of carrying around my little lead weight. I had a fall the other night which lead to a night in hospital to make sure everything is ok....which is it! Was more to be safe than sorry since I could feel here moving around but seemed to be having some contractions. The best thing to come of it was we got to have an ultrasound! Baby has a big head and little legs. Might of preferred it the other way ;). Knowing these things about her just makes her so much more real!! I can't wait to hold the wiggly worm in my arms.
Now some pics

@AprilFool: I haven't packed my bag yet, but I started buying stuff this weekend and am going to pack next weekend!! I just bought granny panties... lol. That was "fun".
Your nursery looks so cute, I love it!
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@AprilFool: you look great- I love the photos!
@sslm: I was thinking about buying some new pajamas for the hospital bag- I don't have any sets, and thought that a set with a button down top would be good for the hospital (easy skin to skin & nursing). But I also kind of feel like its silly to spend money on something I will probably stain, right?
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
@Silva: how about some nursing pajamas? I think they'll be really useful!! I also feel like it's important to feel pretty and good about yourself, so anything that can help with that is not a waste
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@sslm: That was kind of my thinking- if I can't justify new pajamas for birthing a child, I'm not sure when I can justify them
I've been drooling over these: http://www.eberjey.com/intimate/pj-sets/gisele-pj-set.html
for about a year, but I will probably get something a little more affordable from victoria's secret
nectarine / 2591 posts
Thanks guys You make me blush hehe
@Silva: I have bought a great pair of nursing pjs but I don't plan on taking them to the hospital. They're my 'treat' for after all the ickiness stops. Am just taking some cheap black lounge pants to wear instead and plan to live in nursing tops for awhile.
@sslm: haha granny panties are on my list. I have been slowly picking things up but think it is time to get organised.
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
What are you guys packing clothes wise? I have yoga pants, a nursing top, and a thin robe. I figured I'd wear the hospital gown mostly-ick all over that and not my good stuff.
I haven't really bought nursing clothes yet. I don't know what to get I have a nightie, two shirts, and a tank top.

I wrote a long post over the weekend that included a ton of replies....I hit submit and the whole thing disappeared. I haven't been back to this thread since because I was so mad that the internet ate my post! I'm going to try again now though
@nycbee: Holy moly, you've been busy lady! Glad that you found the prenatal classes helpful even if they didn't have all the elements you were hoping for. Love those cookies. And thanks for the good vibes
@blackbird: Thanks for the commiseration, and I'm sorry that you too are feeling a little overwhelmed. I've read about your issues with you parents in some other threads....that must be so frustrating
I'm feeling a little better this week and am just trying to break everything I need to do into bite-sized pieces. Easier said than done for this Type A!
@Silva: When I woke up on Friday morning and realized it was March 1 I had a mini-panic attack! EEK!
@autumnlove: Your bump is beautiful!
@jaguar: 33 weeks and looking beautiful!
@Pumpkinspice: Your bump is so cute. Love your baby girl's beautiful bedding!
@sslm: OMG! Great news! So happy to hear that..and what a cute baby girl you have in there
@AprilFool: Beautiful baby, bump and nursery! Sorry to hear about your fall, but glad that all is well. We're doing a grey and yellow (and aqua) nursery as well!
I haven't packed my bag yet, but I did make a list over the weekend of everything that will go in it. I will start assembling things soon.
@blackbird: I'm going to pack a robe, yoga pants, tanks with built in bras (because I refuse to pay $35 for a "nursing" tank) and some yoga pants. I only plan to stay in hospital for as short a time as I can muster though (midwifery patients are allowed to check out as soon as three hours after baby is born).
AFM, had my 34 week appointment on Friday and got to meet my alternate midwife (the one who would attend the birth if my primary midwife is sick or attending another birth). She was super nice We both think that baby flipped back to head down, but she's sending me for an u/s to confirm...that won't be until March 13 though (36 weeks).
We got a lot done over the weekend. The nursery is done aside from hanging some art that I'm waiting on from a variety of Etsy sellers, DH assembled the swing and installed the car seat. My mum came to visit yesterday and we went to Motherhood to try to find a dress that I can wear to my showers. After trying on everything in the store we decided that we both prefer one of the dresses I already own
Hope everyone's week is off to a good start. I'm counting the days until my mat leave starts......24 and counting!
