@Pumpkinspice: Thinking good thoughts for you and your baby
@sslm: Yay for my due date twin and me making it to full term/37 weeks today! I don't know about you, but I'm hoping (and expecting) for baby to keep baking for awhile longer
pomegranate / 3398 posts
Thanks ladies! Less than 2hrs til we are hopefully told she was just playing hard to get yesterday and that everything is fine!
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
@hergreenapples: I definitely want her to bake a little longer! Ideally she will come at 39 weeks, that would make me very happy :). I'm planning on 41 weeks though haha.
pomegranate / 3895 posts
@sslm: Yes, I think it's good to mentally prepare for 41 weeks! Definitely not expecting any action any time soon over here, but it is nice to reach that milestone
pomegranate / 3398 posts
Well good news to report, she passed her BPP with flying colors! She is measuring 38 weeks and is in the 90th% and is being estimated at 7lbs 2oz. I am supposedly only 34 weeks 3 days but I'm sure all the other info proves we are a bit farther along than they said which is what I've known all along.
We go back Thursday for another NST and see the DR. So we will see what her game plan is.

yay! I'm glad you and the baby are doing well! Even though she's on the big side--does that mean they'll induce you early or anything? I guess it technically wouldn't be early if you thought you were actually further along, heh.
pomegranate / 3398 posts
@blackbird: I'm hoping we will schedule something sooner rather than later. We are going to talk to the Dr. Thursday and see what she thinks.
@hergreenapples: Thanks!

@Pumpkinspice: WHEW! great news, mama....so happy baby girl passed her BPP!

Hey mamas!
We had our hospital tour this evening. both the labor/delivery and post partum rooms are nice and comfy (and private). we love that the baby stays in the room and we found out the hospital treats the new parents with a fancy dinner on the last night of our 2 day stay. the tour was great and it made everything seem so REAL and so SOON. (!!!)
In other news, our little dude's nursery is aaaalmost complete (need to hang a few more prints & buy some soft baskets for his bookcase). I hope he likes it in 4 weeks!
here's my sneak peek how's everyone's week going? Any nursery progress??? Share, please!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
What a stinkin' cute nursery!!!!! Love it!
I had another check yesterday. I'm dilated 1 cm (up from 0) and my doc said she could reach up and feel the head (which did NOT feel good, by the way! Ow!). She says I look like I'll go overdue (past next Saturday). I'm swelling like a maniac and putting on 5+ pounds/week of water weight, but since my blood pressure is fine and there's no protein in my urine, she's not concerned with it (I, however, am tired of seeing a 55lb+ weight gain on the scale, but it should also come off really fast since it's mostly water)

@Pumpkinspice: I'm so happy you got good news!!! Yay!
@sylvie_b: Wow! What a cute nursery!!!! I am so in love
@blackbird: Boo. I feel you on the weight gain. I am so swollen up it's disgusting. I'm also up 55+ lbs. It'll be interesting to see how fast it comes off when we lose all of this fluid. My clown feet are getting old very fast...
pomegranate / 3764 posts
That water and fluid weight will come off quickly, no worries. Hoping we get some babies around here soon!
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
@jaguar: I hope so! And I hope we start having babies on this thread very soon :). I'd like her to stay put for 2 more weeks, and after that, any time would be awesome!!!!
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
Ummm so maybe TMI, but does anyone have leaky boobs? Pregnancy just keeps getting more and more glamorous!! lol
pomegranate / 3764 posts
@sslm: I only get a wee bit of leakage after hot showers. Most of the times, it's ok. (But I'm a bit behind you - so I'll get back to you in a week or two!) xx
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@sslm: no boob leaking here but tons of pee leaking when I cough! Ahhhh!
cantaloupe / 6397 posts
@jaguar: Haha! Lots to look forward to!
@autumnlove: Oh the pee leaking! Forgot about that for a moment, I've had the pleasure of that experience too.

37 weeks midwife appointment yesterday. Not much to report.....baby was partially engaged last week, but has now floated completely out of my pelvis, so I'm going to do even more ball sitting and squatting and my midwife recommended sitting with my legs kind of wide and leaning forward to make use of gravity. Also: GBS negative, yay for that!
Total weight gain now up at 39 pounds at 37 weeks. I try not to think about it
Last night I worked on writing out some positive birth affirmations on index cards. I told DH that I don't know what comfort measures will work best for me during labour so I've decided to prepare for ALL of them...hahaha!
I'm finding that while I have all the concrete stuff (nursery, clothes, freezer meals etc.) pretty much ready to go, I'm feeling a huge need to spend more time preparing mentally for L&D and motherhood. Of course, it's one of those things for which you really can't prepare. Anyone else struggling with this?
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@Jaguar, YES. So much...stuff going on down there. So gross.
But yeah the good thing about retaining so much fluid is that you KNOW it will come off super fast. They're having a "healthy living challenge" at my gym and there's a prize for most weight lost in 2 months. I told our coach that I'd win, hands down, lol.
I'm not really preparing for L&D. I'm going to let our doula and the staff guide us. I'm just in the winging it category right now. But I'm also going for an epidural before transition. I'm just having blind faith that I'll get through :).
As far as when the baby comes, I want to read up on a sleep book and I want to watch the Happiest Baby On The Block DVD a friend sent me. I don't really know how to prepare for that first week. Every time someone finds out that DH and I have no family coming to stay/help us, they're like...."Uhh....good luck" or are generally in the "oh that sucks" camp and that kind of freaks me out. I don't know what to expect
Oh and April 12-14th? When E is 1, maybe only 2 weeks old? DH has to go to some military training for 3 days and 2 nights. She's going to be so young and I'm stressing out big time.
apricot / 348 posts
I'm so glad you're all dealing with the swelling too - my feet are so ridiculous. None of my shoes fit, my ankles/feet get so swollen that they turn completely white, and it takes three hours of laying in bed with my feet up *trying* to sleep for any of the fluid to make its way back up my legs. Between that, the contractions, and all the movement, I haven't slept more than an hour at a time in weeks. Pushing is starting to actually look appealing...
pomegranate / 3895 posts
@blackbird: I'm hoping (we'll see how it goes!) to go unmedicated, hence all the mental prep I've read Happiest Baby on the Block and am prepared to put it into action!
Sucks about your DH being out of town. I know your family isn't being overly helpful....do you have a friend who could come stay with you during that time?
@bpaig: Yes, the human body is a wondrous thing.....it makes total sense to me that the end of pregnancy is so very uncomfortable that it makes L&D seem pleasant by comparison Sorry to hear about your swelling and sleep issues. I've been lucky to not have to deal with any swelling yet, so I'm probably not the best resource, but have your tried compression socks?
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
A friend of mine suggested compression socks. I'm wearing them today at work and I think they are helping! My feet were so swollen yesterday, they were tingling sometimes from lack of circulation. So i hope these socks help today! i'll know more this afternoon
eta: AND my MIL is coming Saturday and my SIL is coming Sunday AM. WHEW! A good friend offered to, but she'll be out of town that weekend. The nights will suck but hopefully I can catch up on a nap during the day and get a load of wash done here and there. That might be a disposable diaper weekend for us!

@hergreenapples: Yay for GBS nergative- I have my test on Monday and I'm nervous about it. I have a plan for labor and delivery that will definitely have to be changed if I need to go in for antibiotics early. Positive affirmations is great- we took a couples' yoga for childbirth class, and that was emotionally the most helpful part for me- I realized how many negative/judgmental thoughts I have about myself and my ability to go through with a med-free birth. All I could come up with is "I'm okay." My husband, fortunately, came up with "she is strong and capable," so hopefully I can borrow some of that confidence from him when the time comes.
@blackbird: I'm super jealous that you are due so soon. I'm 36 weeks on Saturday and right now I cannot imagine being pregnant for another month +. I sometimes wish the baby would come a little early, and then I feel selfish and guilty!
Sorry about your husband having to leave- at least its for a short period of time, and maybe you'll have a nice, easy baby! Prepare with lots of ready-to-go foods so you don't have to worry about cooking!
I'm trying to mentally prepare for the first four weeks to be a messy little crisis. I have been around lots of babies- but I obviously haven't been a mom before, so I have no real idea what to expect for that time- other than messy chaos!

If anyone else thinks that birth affirmations might be helpful, I found this list to be a great resource: http://babydustdiaries.wordpress.com/2009/01/07/positive-birth-affirmations/
@Silva: Hoping that you're GBS negative!
@blackbird: Glad you're going to have some support
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
@silva, for me, it's gotten a little better at the end! I think it's because i'm like, 'OMG SO CLOSE'. i've said it before, but month 8 was worse than month 9 for me. I did more nesting in month 8, too. Whereas now i'm kind of like....um, i don't have much to do!
I have TONS of food ready! I just figure i'll not want to eat the same thing so i'll just order pizza and the like. I'll thaw some soup...I'll send DH to the store Thursday evening for lots of snacks.

Appt today... I'm dilated 1 1/2cm and she's very low. I'm doing another round of blood work and urine collection. Go back next week and will see how things come back. They did my GBS test too just in case. Since she and I are both measuring 37 and more weeks the dr said I really could go anytime. If not on my own in the next two weeks we will likely induce.
The dr actually said " You have a big ass baby in there" lol I love my OB.
pomegranate / 3764 posts
A quick update on the OB front: baby girl is doing great! My blood pressure & proteins are back to average, she's measuring at 40 weeks (I'm almost 36) so no massive growth. Dr. P couldn't feel much of her head, and is sticking to the 2/5 engaged-3/5 palpable pelvic measurement. She's head down and bum up and I'm as happy as a clam.

How's everyone going? Don't go too quiet now ladies - I'll be expecting bebes from here on in!
wonderful grape / 20453 posts
Hey there! I'm having a little wine and watching a movie. There's a big storm coming in tomorrow and everyone seems to think the drop in pressure might send me into labor! Which would be awesome
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@jaguar: Hi! I'm glad your girl is doing well! I have been sick but my baby has been moving a lot and keeping me on my toes.. She likes hanging out near my ribs and bladder!
I'm doing some adorable laundry right now.
@blackbird: Mmmmm...wine!

I am so tired lately. It's so much effort to get off the couch!!! Anyway, as a result we are having a very low key weekend, just tidying up the house a little. Got the dog groomed (see gratutitous doggy photo below). Now I am drinking some red raspberry leaf tea to see what that might do for me.
pomegranate / 3895 posts
Watching Zero Dark Thirty with DH and just relaxing. Had close friends visit last night and they stayed over. Had to take a good long nap after they left this afternoon
Finally got my hospital bag packed. Have my second (and last) baby shower tomorrow and then four more days of work until my leave starts...YAY!
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
We installed the car seat bases today, and I went to a nearby gym and swam...nice to get some exercise without pain (walking hurts now!). We went to dinner and were going to see a movie but I am too tired so we got some ice cream and headed home.
We have an ultrasound on Monday. I'm feeling pretty ready to not be pregnant and to meet our baby, but I'm only36 weeks....so long to wait!
I've started to work on pulling things together for the hospital bag. I treated myself and ordered a petunia pickle bottom bag from the outlet sale this week... Can't wait for it to get here!
