EDD: April 26, according to fertilityfriend (based on day of ovulation)

    How far along?: 5 weeks
(I'm a little confused, because I didn't ovulate until day 21 of my cycle- I know usually people track this from LMP, but that would put me at 6 weeks (tomorrow), so I figure maybe I should just add 2 weeks to however far I am from my O day?

    How long TTC: beginner's luck!

    First child?: Yes!

Any feeling about boy/girl: No idea- I asked my husband last night, and he guessed boy, but I think he was humoring me (and he has already told me he really wants girls!)

First doctor's appointment: haven't scheduled yet. I'm planning to call next week.

How do you feel?/Symptoms so far: Fatigue / bloating / constipation have been the worst. I marvel at how big my tummy is! I was hoping to get some cute "before" pictures, but my "before" stomach seems to have disappeared! I'm hoping it will go down this weekend so I can take the photos- my digestive system works better on the weekends when I have more time to sit and relax (TMI? sorry- I talk about poop a lot).

Who have you told?: Just my best friend. She is a midwife & would be our doula. She is also trying to get pregnant right now, so we have been commiserating about the waiting and anxiety of it all. We are going to dinner with some close friends tomorrow night, and my husband wants to tell them. I feel anxious about telling people! We plan to tell both our parents next weekend, when we see them in person.

side note: I have been having a hard time falling back asleep when I wake up between 3 and 4 AM to pee each night. My mind is just racing with sometimes thoughts of work (which is normal), and sometimes thoughts about a baby coming- silly things, like concerns about my maternity leave, we are going to have to move with a 1 month old!, where are we going to put everything in this tiny apartment for that first month! That kind of stuff.

    @mountainmama: woohoo! Welcome, my dear!
I wake up with the same thoughts (and pee urges). We have a 1 bdrm and won't move until after the lil peanut is born....it'll be a challenge to make everything fit!

I'm joining the April 2013 moms! I am 7 weeks and my estimated due date is April 3. I'll have my first appointment next week and ultrasound, hoping for the best!

So far I feel pretty tired. Significant nausea and food aversion but no vomiting. I'm smelling metal every morning and especially when I'm tired. I think it has to do with the hormones or something. Anyways, happy to join the group!

EDD: April 24, according to online calculator.

How far along?: 4 weeks 2 days

    How long TTC: 6 months

First child?: Third! First for DH and I

Any feeling about boy/girl: Not a clue! We just want a healthy, sticky baby right now!

    First doctor's appointment: Sept 14th

How do you feel?/Symptoms so far: Nothing but some moodiness, bloat/pressure and tired a lot more than normal.

Who have you told?: My DH, my two BFF's, my mom and two of my coworkers....oh and the lady in the aisle at Walmart hahahaha

I probably should wait to join a due date thread but I'm too damn excited so here I am.

Love the influx of April babies!!

@mountainmama: welcome! I would add two weeks to your O date. Be sure to mention wonky cycles to your doctor's office because you can probably get an early ultrasound for dating!!

@serendipity: Welcome!! Our ultrasound is next week, too, and I'm sooo excited (and a tiny bit nervous).

@Crisark: Ahhhhhhhh!!!!!! I missed your BFP. Congrats!

I am so tired today. I was on-call this week for work, and got a call at 2:30 AM last night. Couldn't fall back asleep for at least two hours.

I had a session this morning that I made it through, but now I have a couple hours worth of paperwork and I can barely sit upright.

    uggggggh.

@mountainmama: Hope you feel better soon, the fatigue is terrible!

@Mrs. Blue: Wishing you best of luck on next week's ultrasound! I read one of Bee's posts about beating nausea with B6 and Unisom. I might try the B6 twice a day and see if I feel better!

  10. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@serendipity: I have tried the Unisom/B6 the last two days, and it is like a gif from heaven!! I'm still not positive that it's not just a fluke, but I'm praying that this is really just working well with my system. I still have a queasy moment now and then, but I feel like a new person!!

@Mrs. Blue: Did you order the B6 online? It's impossible to find a smaller dose of B6 in the drug stores in my area. I ordered a bottle online along with the preggie pop drops. <--- It's basically a jolly rancher with some ginger

  13. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@serendipity: I could only find 100 mg B6 capsules. I have been cutting them in half and taking one half at night with a half of Unisom and then taking the other half of the B6 in the morning. I need to call my OBGYN and check if that much B6 is okay because when I googled, the recommended dosage was all over the place.

Hi guys. Hope everyone is doing well.

Can I say I'm kind of jealous that our due date is late April? I wish I was up there getting scans and what-not with you lovely ladies.

  15. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@jaguar: It goes by fast, though. I can't believe our first scan is only a week away now! Do you know when your first u/s will be?

  16. jaguar

@Mrs. Blue: They've booked me in for a 7 week scan on Sept 4th!

Happy Friday, April mamas! I'm looking forward to a weekend of closet purging, book reading (the Art of Fielding- a marvelous story!) and cat napping. We have our first U/S scheduled for 9/6 (8wk scan).....can't wait!

What are you gals looking forward to this weekend?

  18. Silva

    cantaloupe / 6017 posts

@sylvie_b: we are just relaxing and running errands this weekend. Planning to call the midwife next week to schedule a first appointment! And next weekend we're planning to tell our parents (when we see them all in person).

We told our inlaws today. They're going overseas for 5 weeks and we wanted them to know before they got back. This will be the first baby for both of our parents, and they have been so happy!

@jaguar: Telling people is SO much fun!! Glad your in-laws are excited!

When is everyone thinking of telling their boss? I had just started a new job when we got pregnant, so I'm terrified of telling my boss! But, because I work in a tiny office (for the federal gov't) I also feel like I should give them as much warning as possible. I'll definitely wait until after our 8-week scan this week, but not sure if I'll wait until the end of the first trimester.

  22. sylvie_b

    apricot / 458 posts

@Mrs. Blue: I'm waiting until week 13, and am equally terrified of telling my boss! I started a big, new position 3 1/2 months ago and thought it would take us some time in the TTC category....whoops!

I think that they'll appreciate as much notice as possible, and as long as you feel comfortable disclosing it, you should

I'm planning on telling my boss at about 16 weeks. I definitely don't want to tell before 12 weeks

  24. Silva

    cantaloupe / 6017 posts

@Mrs. Blue: My supervisor is pregnant, and she told me about it at 7 weeks. I was honestly a little surprised that she told me, because it was so early, and I don't think we're that close. Honestly, it was a little uncomfortable me because she phrased it like, "I didn't want you to wonder why I look so tired all the time" (not something I had noticed!). Of course, she is my supervisor, so the power in that relationship is different.

I plan on waiting until at least 12 weeks to tell her about my pregnancy, and honestly may wait until I don't think I can hide it anymore.

I am close with a few of my co-workers, and have already told them. I trust them to keep the information private.

  25. Crisark

    pomegranate / 3398 posts

I actually told my bosses yesterday and I'm only 5 weeks. I did this for a couple reasons, 1) I'm on my third pregnancy and am so bloated I kinda can't hide that something is going on, 2) We are a team of 3 right now and I'm the only one that works my shift so they need to be aware of what's happening in case I need time off or something. 3) They are in the process of hiring someone to work with me on my shift and that person needs to be able to handle it without me so they need in here ASAP to be trained properly.
My two other coworkers were amazing and we surprised our two bosses with a brunch at our biweekly meeting and told them. It all went really well.

How's everyone doing today? I have been totally good on the emotional front the last couple weeks, but today I keep tearing up at the office. I swear if I start sobbing, which is possible at this rate, I will die of shame. Eek! We have our ultrasound Friday morning, and I'm sooooooooo ready to see Baby Blue!

Also, I helped host a baby shower this weekend for a friend who is ready to pop, and she had some major Braxton Hicks for a few minutes. Whoa! The pain on her face made it very real that I'm going to have to deliver this thing eventually! It was so fun seeing all the cute baby stuff though!

I just had my first midwife appointment! It was pretty good, she was super nice and friendly. I am going for my dating ultrasound next Friday morning, that's when I hope to stop feeling so terrified!

I posted yesterday about how I had to get off the bus to barf, that was lovely. I might have to call and ask the midwife about dilectin if that holds up, I can't go through a 40 minute commute each way feeling like that!!

I just had my first prenatal visit and ultrasound and *phew*, baby is looking good!! The OB tech did a transvaginal and I saw our little baby gummy bear and yolk sac instantly! I almost broke into tears..it was such an emotional experience!

As far as my MS symptoms I'm feeling better compared to last week. I decided to take my prenatal vitamin around bedtime and for the last few days I've been less nauseous. Does anyone use gummy pnv instead? I'm not certain what I'll need to supplement it with, iron? folic acid? I have yet to check the ingredients to see what the gummy vitamins are missing.

@Mrs. Blue: good luck on your appointment this Friday!

  29. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

I take gummy prenatals. They don't have iron in them, but my doctor told me not to worry about it. I do take an extra folic acid, but i take Folgard because my body doesn't absorb folic acid anyways. Gummy vitamins go down much easier

  30. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@serendipity: @blackbird: I've been thinking about switching to gummies. I eat a decent amount of animal protien, so I'm not too worried about the lack of iron. I took gummies while TTC with an extra folic acid supplement, and they were so much better than the prenatals I'm taking now.

Hi gals! I'm officially at 6wks today :). In terms of symptoms, the ladies are more sore than ever and my appetite is endless. The fatigue and MS haven't reared their ugly heads, but I think I've had this undercurrent of nausea periodically through the days. But once I have a nibble or a sip of water, it goes away. Maybe the exercise has been helping?

My mom was telling me she had virtually no severe symptoms when she was pregnant w/ me....I wonder if genes play a role in the symptoms? Did you and your mom share similar symptoms? I'd love to hear!

  32. blackbird

    wonderful grape / 20453 posts

I've heard that, too, Sylvie. However, my mom was sick for all 9 months with me and for about 7 months with my brother--vomiting regularly, said she had to drop out of school, etc. I've had hardly any morning sickness at all--if i eat or drink, it goes away. I've learned to just keep food in my stomach at all times. So i think it's that my previously borderline hypoglycemia is more prominent now. I do find I get carsick, though...and I am still doing Crossfit, and I find i feel pretty darn good after a work out, so I'm also thinking that helps quite a bit!

Hi all! I'm hopping over from the March boards. My original DD was March 30th but they bumped me to April 13 after two early ultrasounds

    EDD: April 13

    How far along?: 7 weeks

How long TTC: Got lucky on round 1

    First child?: First

Any feeling about boy/girl: Leaning toward boy today? No idea really!

First doctor's appointment: Had two already. Measured what they considered behind according to my last period in the first appointment so they had me come back a week later to make sure the baby was growing. Got to see a little blob and heartbeat both times!

How do you feel?/Symptoms so far: Morning sickness ALL DAY. I start gagging if I let myself get too hungry, but don't feel hungry because I feel crappy all the time. I seem to be ok during the work day with the worst symptoms at night. I have a VERY strong stomach so I was totally surprised by this. My mom had bad morning sickness too so I think Sylvie is right about genes playing a roll

Who have you told?: Sister, Mom, and mother-in-law. Totally surprised them all

Nice to meet you April mamas!

  34. Mrs. Blue

    blogger / pomelo / 5361 posts

@savanarunner: Yay for another April mama! Glad the u/s have shown that baby is growing like s/he should!

As for what @sylvie_b: said, my mom did have m/s with all of us to varying degrees, and I've definitely had it to. Maybe genetics are part of it! I'm 8 weeks today, and it'a gotten pregreaaivly worse. At first I was just queasy if I got hungry. Then, around 5 1/2 weeks, I started having constant nausea, which eventually progressed to constant nausea with occasional vomiting. In the last week, I've thrown up more than the rest of the pregnancy combined, but the Unisom/B6 has made life generally more bearable. :). Hopefully, after having an ultrasound tomorrow, the baby will seem more "real" so I'll feel like the m/s is worth it.

    EDD: April 26

    How far along?: 5 weeks

How long TTC: This was my first cycle off BCP. I wanted my body to regulate before actively trying at the end of the year and to be closer to my LO's first bday.

First child?: Second. First child is 8 months old.

Any feeling about boy/girl: No idea! We want to try to be Team Green...for now!

First doctor's appointment: 9/5 for nurse visit and 9/17 with my OB.

How do you feel?/Symptoms so far: No nausea yet but my cheeks look fuller!

Who have you told?: Only HB! Too afraid to tell friends and family since it is so early. Hoping for a baby that sticks!

We had planned to tell our parents this weekend when we saw them at a party, but lately I've been feeling pessimistic and my husband has been feeling scared...so we decided to wait.

I have still felt very tired and hungry, and with somewhat tender breasts, but my bloating has gone away these past few days. I started my sixth week on Friday, and I really keep expecting some kind of increase in noticeable symptoms. I had a dream that I miscarried on Friday night, and without that increase in symptoms I just feel like I can't quite believe this is going to really happen.

Our doctor's appointment is until the 14th, so we have a few more weeks of sitting in this place. Hopefully I get some symptom increases soon to ease my mind- I should probably not complain too much, or I"ll be slammed with awful morning sickness or something!

This is probably all in my head- no reason to actually believe something is wrong- but it being "in my head" doesn't mean it isn't there!
