@Dandelion: glad you talked to your mom.
I actually ended up with a stomach bug Saturday when my mom was here. She asked if it was morning sickness. I lied and said no just because we aren't ready to share yet until we see a heartbeat.

@Dandelion: I had not thought about it. I'm sure you helped a lot of people!
@T.H.O.U.: I'm so sorry, that sounds awful! I understand about not being comfortable-I didn't tell mine until 6 weeks, when I saw her. When is your ultrasound, next week?

Hi Sweet Mamas! This is so weird, y'all. I can't believe I'm on this board! I kind of still have that feeling like, "ok, now what do I do?!"
EDD if you have one: April 25th
When Did You Find Out?: 15dpo / Yesterday / 4w1d
Child Number: First!
Where You Live: Arizona
What kind of provider will you see?: Midwives at a Birth Center
When's Your First Appointment?: Calling tomorrow.
What kind of birth do you want?: As natural and peaceful as possible.
What You're Most Excited For: Becoming a little family!
What You're Most Scared About: Morning Sickness! (I have not thrown up in 12 years. I hate doing it THAT much.)
Symptoms so far: Tender boobs, sporadic light cramping, general bloated-ness, I guess I'm a little tired, and I go from not wanting to eat anything to waking up in the middle of the night to make a sandwich because I'm HUNGRY.
Any fun plans for the end of summer/fall?: We went to Hawaii earlier this Summer, then we're heading to Seattle for a little urban vacation the end of September. (Hopefully I'll feel ok!)

@LovelyPlum: I am only 5 weeks and don't go for a scan until Sept 3. Kinda bummed I can't get excited about this until then but I guess it's better to wait until we see something.
The hunger has set in for me. I guess that's a good sign too.

@cmbknyc @supernovaj: thank you! So fun to hang out with you ladies
OK, today I have this little knot in my stomach. I wrote my RE an email yesterday to ask about medication dosing during pregnancy and she recommended I come in to get a blood test 48 hours apart to check levels. Totally normal and I'm glad she did. However, with my MC, I had blood taken every other day for 2 weeks and all the levels did was drop. It was traumatic to say the least. I'm scared and trying to relax and not burst into tears! @LovelyPlum, I kid you not, I keep going back to read about your lovely levels-rise at the beginning of yours... dunno how I'm going to get through until they come back with levels. On the bright side, my RE is at an academic hospital and they are :fast: when it comes to returning results. I'm hoping I won't have to wait much longer than tomorrow morning for the first measure...

Does anyone know when sore boobs go away? They are so achy, and while I haven't gotten the "overnight boob job" just yet, they are bigger and swollen. I'm thinking about wearing a bra when I go to bed at night now. They hurt!
In terms of other symptoms, I don't have bad MS yet, but I do feel queasy and have an unsettled stomach if I go too long without eating. It's a mixture of that and extreme fatigue that makes me feel yucky. Food wise, nothing seems appetizing. Maybe yogurt and some fruit. Also, dry crusty bread sounds good. I was craving meat like never before a few days ago, and was putting Tabasco sauce on EVERYTHING. Now, both of those seem so unappetizing. My sense of smell is so sensitive too, and I'm not craving sweets for the first time in so long. I used to have a crazy sweet tooth and it's completely gone now. Lol I feel like a different person.
I hope everyone else's symptoms are bearable!

@sweetkeight: awwwww. I am so sorry. I can totally understand the anxiety. Praying for you that your levels rise beautifully. They will!

@SupernovaJ: Thanks - I can use all the hope I can get!
Now that you're away from meat and Tabasco, what's got your stomach calming now? Yesterday, I ate my body weight in hot wings (homemade - go DH! Yum!) so sounds like there's some similarity there Hoping for your sore bb's to calm!

@sweetkeight: haha thanks gf!
I was going overboard with spicy stuff. I was putting it on everything: fried eggs, veggies, meat, pasta, bread, etc. Now, the sour vinegary smell turns me off.
I've been into pizza crusts lately. Haha! Of all things. I was finishing off DH's pizza leftovers yesterday. Today I woke up and craved Greek yogurt with some fruit, and also made a green smoothie / protein shake. My MIL wants to have lunch and I have no appetite now. She doesn't know we're expecting yet, we have our first appointment this Friday at 6.5-7 weeks and if all goes well (heartbeat) we are sharing the news with her.

@PEAPIE: I'm so glad that you're here!!!
@T.H.O.U.: hunger is good I'm sorry you have to wait so long, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you! Today, you are pregnant
@SupernovaJ: unfortunately, I'm not sure the sore boobs are going away anytime soon. Mine have only gotten worse! And I hear ya on the appetizing/unappetizing switch. For two weeks, all I wanted was mac and cheese, now it is the worst smell ever. It changes daily what I can eat, and the general answer is "not much." Fruit and bagels seem to be the consistent answer. Good luck on Friday! I hope you can tell your MIL soon.
@sweetkeight: oh chica, beta hell is the worst. The. Worst. Ever. When my first number came back at 7.8, all I could do was cry, I was so scared. A lovely, lovely, bee tried to reassure me and said, "even low numbers can go up," and I'm pretty sure that my response in my head was "yeah, for everyone else. This one is going nowhere, and fast." But they did go up, and every time they did, I was in utter shock. Then I had my lovely trip to the ER, and I thought, this is it, it's over. But the numbers went up again. I've never had numbers go above 50, so when the nurse told me they had doubled to 213, I almost cried. Two days later, when they doubled to 495, I really did start shaking, I was in such shock. And last Monday, we saw a tiny heartbeat and I even measured a bit ahead. So everyone was right, they can (and often do!) go up.
That being said, your fear is totally, totally justified. I am so afraid for my appointment today. I keep having these (visions? daymares? something) that somehow I am no longer pregnant, and that I'm really going in to find that out and am going to have to schedule a D&C for later in the week. I don't know what is wrong with me, but I can't get this thought out of my head. Having a loss changes you...it makes everything scary. But we are in this together, and we can do it. Hugs, love Let us know!

Anyone else having major bloat? I'm 4 weeks today and last night when we went to dinner I wore a top I bought last time for early maternity wear. I told DH we were clearly having about 6 babies since I'm "showing" so early. ^_^ It really didn't help that I also ate a HUGE dinner. Hunger is my number one symptom!

@jhd: @sweetkeight: @Kate6214: @PEAPIE: Holy moley! Congrats ladies!
I go away for a few days and all sorts of news! I have to catch up big time, but I"m back at work Taking it as easy as I can, and so far so good, but super nervous for my usual "1:15 Need To Nap Now" to happen. I didn't drink my half caff this morning and am saving it for after lunch so hoping that gets me to power through to go home time.

@Dandelion: Oh, I"m so glad you had a good talk with your mom. I read a bunch of that Section thread the other day out of curiosity myself, and I know it made ME feel better about that possibility, so I'm really glad that it was helpful for you too. And thanks for doing it!

@SupernovaJ: about the boobs hurting, I'm about 8 weeks and I have to say they haven't been that bad for the last week or so. I wish I made note of when they stopped being super sore, but I do know that I can give hugs w/o wincing now!

@LovelyPlum: I'll keep good thoughts for you, dearest! (I'm scrinching up my face as a I hope so hard!) With all your good news, I'm creating the good news will just continue and continue!! Thank you so much - so glad we're in this together. I like what you said "Today, you are pregnant." (I know it was to someone else, but I'm taking it!) I will keep that in mind - I took another digi this morning and it said "Today, you are pregnant." That's all we can do, right?

@HazelEyes: Let me know how that half caff thing works out - I'm back at work today, too. After last week, where I survived on sheer adrenaline (Bridesmaid at a wedding, Opened a show I performed in nightly, and a huuuuge deadline for work that meant 60-75 hour weeks for the past two weeks... yikesy!) This week, I'm super ultra draggy! Yergh!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@sweetkeight: today, we are pregnant And for now, that's enough!
@sweetkeight: @HazelEyes: I loooove me some half-caff. Also, I've needed Coke for my stomach, but it's not bad in the energy department! I'm back to work at school today, too, and a little nervous. 4 hours of napping wasn't enough yesterday (I know, I'm pathetic). Fingers crossed for energy for all of us!

I started taking B6 and ginger, which has helped with MS, but I still don't feel great. I did finally find two things that I wanted to eat and now can't get enough of-- Olive Garden minestrone and Chobani Flip Almond Coco Loco.
I took a trip to Trader Joe's and found some carb-friendly breakfast and snack items to help me try to keep GD at bay. I'm trying to follow the GD diet plan NOW so that it will either keep my sugar under control, or so that if I do have GD, the change in diet won't be a shock.
I am SO EXHAUSTED today. I woke up feeling crummy and things escalated from there. I actually burst into tears and told DH I didn't want to go to work. Thanks, hormones. It doesn't help that I've given up my daily coke in the interest of watching my sugar... I hope I am still awake by the end of the day!
@SupernovaJ: HA! I have wanted spicy things ALL THE TIME. I got a sandwich last week with hot peppers which are usually way too much for me, and they weren't hot enough.
@Torchwood: I'm super bloated. My stretchy yoga capris, which are usually super large and comfy felt a little tight yesterday, and putting on dress pants for work today hurt my tummy. I'm pretty much exclusively drinking water now, so I'm thinking it needs to get gone!
@LovelyPlum: I miss coke. Sigh.

@lovelyplum thanks! hoping you find the energy you need to get through the day also!

@babybeemcd: I need some yoga pants! DH may have to suck it up that we're not supposed to spend money until after the move.
Sorry you're feeling all crappy. Hope you feel better!
Also, I was going to take ginger last time, but I read that it might not be safe during pregnancy. Have you cleared it with your doctor?
coffee bean / 37 posts
@Torchwood: I don't see the Dr until September 9, but I hadn't heard anything about it being unsafe. It's a pretty standard homeopathic remedy for nausea that has helped me with motion sickness in the past-- what have you heard?
pomelo / 5607 posts
@babybeemcd: Well, if it's homeopathic, it's fine. That's diluted well past the point that it would be a concern. I swear I found a zillion links back when I was researching it, now I'm only finding a few. I feel like I'm totally losing it, but I swear I read it. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/22196569
coffee bean / 37 posts
@Torchwood: Thanks for the info. I'm going to shoot the Dr an email now and see what she says. I'm taking 250mg capsules, but I can switch to candies or chews if they are better. I'll let you know what I hear!

Oh my hell. I'm shaking.
My quant came back at 34. Doc said that's a pretty good start at 10 dpo, especially since the last one never got higher than 22 at 17 dpo...
Wednesday will be the day for the next one...
(And God Bless FAST labs!!)
