@Kate6214: those were basically all of the foods I could stomache too. When's your due date?! I must have missed your announcement. Let me add it to our list

@Kate6214: bland foods are working for me...plain rice or noodles, mashed potatoes, toast with jelly. Hang in there!

@sweetkeight the Zofran does not make me sleepy at all but medicines rarely do make me sleepy! Hope it works well for you!

@lovelyplum I haven't had any graham crackers but that sounds good! I did have an animal cracker & vanilla wafer kick a week or two ago!

@luckypenny: I'm on there I'm just barely squeezing into April. @jhd: thanks for the ideas

I'm so sorry those of you are stuck with bad Ms still!

I am finally 9 weeks. I can't believe I still have a month to go before my NT. I've got a big work trip next week and it'll be tough to hide (drinks and going to an amusement park) but hopefully it'll go ok.

  6. PEAPIE

I have been feeling gross but not overly nauseous, thank goodness. Sorry to the ladies who are suffering!!! I hope it eeases up soon for y'all! I got the most delicious grapes I've ever had at whole foods today- those are pretty easy on the tummy and good against constipation, if that's happening.

We are going on a weeklong (urban) vacation to Seattle next week and I just pray I'm not miserable and ruin it for DH. We're staying in the city and will hopefully get some good exercise and fresh air. I'm just so tired and grumpy- it worries me.

@T.H.O.U.: Amusement park? Work trip? I want to work where you work!

@PEAPIE: Its really not that exciting but just a conference I am going to.

So, I am letting myself to start thinking about names. We are really at a lost so I appologize now for all the upcoming posts! Plus, who doesn't like to offer their opinion about names!

@megz06: We waited for our 12 week appt too. It was a couple days before, but it was worth it to have that reassurance.

@jhd: I'm glad that you are sleeping better! I would be, if I didn't have to wake up to pee. That's when it gets me. But only one wake-up last night, and it was relatively early (1:45 a.m.) So a good amount of sleep to be had after that!

@sweetkeight: I'm so sorry you're so sick. I hope that the Zofran and graham crackers are helpful to you. In case you didn't know, though, Zofran can really back you up, so you may want to be prepared with some yogurt/fiber/prunes/all of the above. It's gotten better for me on that front, but it does hit some people really hard. Honestly, even when it was uncomfortable, I needed the Zofran to function, so I wasn't about to not take it! Also, about it making you tired-it did not make me tired, but it did initially make me lightheaded. So now I only take it when I can lay down immediately afterwards, like right before I hit the snooze in the morning, or can lay down for a nap. It took a little while to get used to, but now it's better. And in a pinch, if I really need, I take it during the day. But it does make me a little woozy. How do you feel this morning?

@gilmoregirl: @Dandelion: sleepy here this morning, too!!

    @gilmoregirl: I can't believe you're 12 weeks! Craziness!!

@luckypenny: real food is starting to taste good to me, too! Not always, but I'm snacking more on veggies, fruit, and trail mix. It's a great relief to be able to eat something (anything!) other than carbs!

@Kate6214: for me, I literally had to take it day by day, or sometimes even hour by hour to find something that I could eat. Smoothies were really good, as was watermelon, pineapple, pizza, and bagels and cream cheese. And weirdly, raw green beans-I have no idea why. Also, seltzer water, green tea, and regular Coke help sometimes. But when it's really bad, as it's been the last few days, it's been a lot of "what can I possibly stomach the smell and taste of today?" and then going out and getting it. It killed our eating out budget, but what can you do?

@T.H.O.U.: work trip sounds fun! I don't think it would take much for me to hide it at an amusement park, though...I'm a total scaredy cat!

@PEAPIE: that sounds so fun! I'm a total anti-social pain in the butt now, because all I want to do is sleep! I went out to dinner last night with friends and got back at 9:00, which is now past my bedtime. What do you know, I slept through my alarm this morning. I'm ridiculous, and pretty much no fun anymore. Poor DH.

    As for me...

We're mostly out to extended family now. I called my grandma, and she cried. It was so sweet And my other grandma, who is super overprotective of me, was also really, really happy. We're going to call DH's grandparents this week as well. To be honest, we've been letting people know as we need to, so it's not a huge secret, and hasn't really been able to be for a long time. I figured, I saw the baby at 10.5 weeks, so even if something has gone wrong before our NT scan, people are going to find out one way or the other. Now, we just need to send an email to our out of town friends! Eeek!

@T.H.O.U.: exciting! We're thinking about names, too, but I'm not quite sure what we want to do yet. Either way, we won't be telling them to people IRL until baby is born

I had my first pair of pants not fit this morning. They are generally tight pants, but I just wore them last week! Totally threw my morning off! I just bought some mat shirts so I can maybe get away with an elastic for a bit. Trying to get as much use out of regular fall/winter clothes now as I can!

  11. jhd

    coconut / 8079 posts

@HazelEyes: I'm wearing a dress today & wore a skirt yesterday but I feel like all of a sudden my belly is sticking out a little. Hoping my pants will fit at least a little while longer! We'll see. That would totally throw off my morning routine too!!

@lovelyplum here's hoping that middle of the night nausea leaves you alone soon. It really stinks. And 9pm is totally past my bedtime now too!

@sweetkeight @kate6214 how are you ladies feeling today?

I am pretty sure there were girls whispering about me in 2nd period but none were brave enough to straight out ask me if I'm pregnant!! I'm not sharing with students yet if I can help it!

  12. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@HazelEyes: @jhd: I have totally given up on non-maternity bottoms, except for my knock-around leggings and pj pants, and even those are questionable. I have a few non-maternity shirts and dresses that are in the rotation, and I will have more when I pull out the fall sweaters. Honestly, though, the majority of my clothes were so ratty that I was quite happy to ditch them for a maternity wardrobe. And seriously, it is so comfortable!

@sweetkeight: Good luck with the Zofran. It saved my life... for about 10 days. I was so constipated that nothing worked (including everything @LovelyPlum: mentioned: yogurt, prunes, whole grains, water, Colace, Metamucil) and the Dr recommended that I stop taking it and try a Dulcolax suppository. It was THE WORST PAIN EVER, but I finally got some relief. I'm sick all the time again, but able to poop... I'm considering maybe starting to take one Zofran in the morning to get me through the worst of it, but not sure if it's worth the risk again. Good luck, I hope you are feeling better soon and I hope all of our nausea goes away soon!

@LovelyPlum: i'm excited to get some comfy maternity pants...and maybe it will be sooner than i thought! i'm not a big shopper but it is always fun to have an excuse to buy new clothes! glad you found some comfy ones.

@babybeemcd that sounds awful. i hope you feel better soon.

@HazelEyes: I had the same thing happen yesterday. The pair of work pants I had set out were way too tight. Not sure if the clasp on them will work with an elastic, but I'm going to give it a try. Luckily, all of the others fit for now. Hoping to make it a few more weeks without purchasing any maternity clothes.

  16. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@futuremama: @hazeleyes: I'm able to elastic my jeans, but work pants (except for one pair) are pretty much out of the question. Mine aren't stretchy enough, and I've gained enough weight that lots of my stuff doesn't fit. I'm not showing at all yet, but I've gained about 8 lbs and my clothes are just too tight in the hips/butt. And I'm a high school teacher, so it's a no go

I haven't bought any maternity clothing yet, so I've been getting by in skirts and dresses. The chillier it gets, the more I'm going to have break down and buy some maternity things.

I'm going to try to wait as long as possible to get any maternity pants. Luckily all of mine still fit, for now anyways! They moved my NT scan from Friday to tomorrow and I'm so excited to get to see the little babe earlier and it's at 3:30 so DH is leaving work early and that makes me happy too.

@T.H.O.U.: You have a work trip next week? I have a work trip next week! I will freak if you say Alabama...lol

@luckypenny: My mommy had to go buy me bigger pants this morning (not maternity because I am uncomfortable in them right now) lol because I only have two pairs of pants that I kept from when I was 25 pounds heavier. The rest are all my smaller pants. *le sigh*

@luckypenny: yay for getting to see your baby tomorrow!!

@gilmoregirl do your students know yet? i teach high school too. i'm 10 weeks tomorrow and trying hard to keep it a secret...but i think some of them may be on to me.

@megz06: nope, off to Orlando! I agree with bigger pants. I am down to just a few of pairs in larger size right now. I can't wait to get the maternity clothes stash.

@LovelyPlum: Thanks for the advice. I'm willing to try anything. A smoothie doesn't sound too bad. Maybe I can convince my husband to run to the store.

@jhd: Today I was able to get down a bowl of cereal, some eggs for lunch, and some broccoli and tator tots ( I feel like they cancel each other out) at dinner. I made sloppy joes in the crock pot so I didn't have to cook and my poor husband would have something to eat.

@luckypenny so excited that you get to see your baby tomorrow!

I know there are a few teachers here. When are you telling your administration? I know a few of you teach high school and I cant imagine trying to hide it from my coworkers and the students. Monday I must have had 4 teachers ask if I was ok. Telling them its the Monday blahs is only going to work for so long. :

@Kate6214: I had my first ultrasound last Wed & found out I was 9w & not 8w2d as I had thought. It "helps" that I had a very bad case of mono in April so my coworkers are used to seeing me look crappy! Many have just assumed I am still recovering etc & I have let them! But I asked to speak w my principal last week & told him. I know I can trust him not to tell anyone at all & I just really wanted him to hear it from me & not someone else. Just in case the kids figure it out & the gossip chain starts he knows already. Also I needed him to know so I can pass off at least one of my extracurriculars to someone else!! Sorry that was long.... Short version is told school nurse at 6 weeks & principal at 9 weeks!

@Kate6214: and yay for food! basically I find something that sounds good & stick with it for a few days til suddenly I find something else that sounds better. It's been lots of instant mashed potatoes at lunch!

@babybeemcd: yep, once a day is my limit, even though I feel like I need it more often. But if I do it more than once, misery ensues.

@Kate6214: Well, my supervisor is one of my best friends, and another AP is another good friend of mine (she's preggers too), but they waited until I told my department before telling the rest of Admin.

As for my students, I dont think most of them know, but when I told the dept. our admin assistant told every single person walking in our door for the rest of the day--students or staff-- so some of them know, haha

Is anyone else feeling really faint? I've nearly passed out twice today after for standing for just a few minutes. I've eaten my normal breakfast of a breakfast sandwich and banana and had plenty of water. If it doesn't get better in the next hour or so, I'm going to call the doctor. I'm in a wedding this weekend and would rather not pass out while I'm standing in the altar.

  27. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@futuremama: this happens to me all the time. It is incredibly annoying. Sometimes, it's right after I stand up too quickly, but sometimes, it is for no real reason at all. I can't figure out what it is, but if you're in a wedding, I would definitely call! The only thing that seems to help for me is to drink something (usually juice or water) and lay down for a bit. But that's not going to do you much good at a wedding...

Happy Hump/Bump Day everyone, who is around today?

@T.H.O.U.: I think I'd much rather be in Orlando

@futuremama: I have this week. I read on one of my pregnancy apps that it is normal to feel this way for the last few weeks of the first trimester.

  30. jill_a55

    apricot / 448 posts

@futuremama: yes! I asked at my doctors office a while back and the nurse said that your uterus sits on (or near... I don't remember) a main artery, so you will get faint from time to time, and if it happens just to sit down till it passes.. It's also in my baby app update for things happening this week... due to progesterone and increasing blood flow to the baby...

  31. futuremama

    clementine / 854 posts

@jill_a55: @megz06: @T.H.O.U.: @LovelyPlum: thanks for the replies. My doctor agreed that it is normal. I just need to stay hydrated, make sure I stay hydrated and sit down if I'm feeling faint.

I'll take feeling faint over nausea any day. I've had a couple mild bouts of nausea the past few days, but it feels like the worst has passed. Can't wait to see which lively symptom is next! This baby better be worth it

@T.H.O.U.: I'm here! Work is slow, so I'm doing online baby research

  33. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@jill_a55: aah, that explains it. It's annoying, but I agree with @futuremama: better than nausea! Too bad I still have both But this, too, shall pass!

  34. jill_a55

    apricot / 448 posts

@LovelyPlum: It's SO annoying! I've been walking around work feeling like I'm walking on a boat, swaying back and forth! I totally have both too, so I feel your pain. Every day is a challenge.. I will not throw up and I will not fall over!

  35. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@LovelyPlum: What are you researching today? Since this is our second, I figure we don't need much.

  36. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@T.H.O.U.: cloth diapers Honestly, we're not going to be able to get a lot, because we live in about 700 sq. ft. So I research the crap out of everything I think I want, change my mind about a million times, and who knows what we'll end up getting

  37. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@LovelyPlum: Oooh cloth diapers are fun. We used them with ours and will continue with #2. Have you seen any in person? I had researched them a bunch online but still was surprised the first time I saw them in person.

  38. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@T.H.O.U.: I have two friends who have used CDs, so I've seen them on babies, but I've not gone to the store to look at them yet. The thing that surprises me most is that they seem so bulky compared to the disposables, and I was really surprised how it seems like the little ones of my one friend who uses CDs don't often wear pants. I mean, we're due in April, so that will be easier in the summer. But I don't think I'm going to be able to do that in upstate NY in the winter!!

We're going to go to the local CD store in a few weeks to see some different brands for ourselves. I'm excited. Which do you use?

  39. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@LovelyPlum: Yes, they are bulky. But they are REALLY cute. Plus, all babies used to have fluffy bottoms back in the day when that is all there was.

We didn't start CD until she was a bit older, so we didn't do it during the newborn stage. I'm not sure if I want to invest in newborns this time around. We have tried BumGenius (BG), Thirsties, and Grovia. We mostly use pockets but I have tried a flip, hybrid, and AIO too.

  40. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@T.H.O.U.: they are super cute! I think we're going to look at the Applecheeks brand. They're Canadian, but we live 5 miles from Canada, so they carry them at our local store. I like that you can make them tighter/looser and use them as either pockets or covers and inserts. But the store has other ones, too, so I'm sure I'll look at them, too.
