@jhd: Thank you, and closing on a house is SO exciting. Congrats!!
@T.H.O.U.: Oops! I hope you can figure something out. I will have only a few people on my business trip that will not know I am pregnant, and I am ok letting them know due to the fact that majority of work already knows anyway. The only thing that saved me at a wedding a few weeks ago was that the wine on the table sucked for everyone, so no one batted an eye when I declined it, lol.
@jill_a55: OMG Cheesecake Factory. We don't have one where I live, so when I get to go it is a real treat because usually I am on a business trip or something. Our closest one is a few hundred miles away! I always have the cajun jambalaya, but next time I am going to do something different. What do you have?

@megz06: thanks! I have some job changes coming up so I can't let anyone know yet. I may have to pull the pickiness card!

@megz06: I always have the fettuccine with chicken and sun dried tomato pasta! I
it!!! We got the sweet corn tamale cakes for an appetizer this time too.. those were really good!

Hope every one had a good weekend
we got my new car and I love it! Still trying to think of how we are going to "announce" pregnancy (family already knows) so maybe next weekend ill try taking a nice family photo of all of us and the ultrasound. I didn't want to post my new car picture on social media because the lines on my shirt make my tummy look funny/kinda pregnant.
Anyone else want to share a picture from their weekend?

@T.H.O.U.: @megz06: thanks, ladies. we're excited!!
@luckypenny: congrats on the new car!
@jill_a55: yum! glad you were able to enjoy your food at the Cheesecake Factory
I am so ready for food to taste good again!

@jhd: congrats, that is fantastic!
@SupernovaJ: yay comfy clothes! Seriously, love leggings.
@megz06: how fun! I haven't even gone into the clothes section yet, but I'm so glad that you had fun. Truthfully, I'm still a little overwhelmed by it! And when I go to Cheesecake, I love their lettuce tacos. They're on the appetizer menu, but they're huge! We have taken to ordering two apps apiece instead of an entree because then you get variety, but just as much (if not a little less!) food
@T.H.O.U.: can you say that you're on medicine and can't take it? That's super frustrating!
@jill_a55: hoping that you are turning a corner! We had Cheesecake about 3 weeks ago, and I seriously thought I was in heaven. Yum, yum, yum. I love it when food tastes good!
@luckypenny: oooh, look at you! New cars are so fun. I'm trying to decide what I want to do with an announcement, too. I think I want to use a little pumpkin, but not quite sure how yet. We probably won't put anything up on FB until after my NT scan, at the earliest. But it may be mid-October before we do.
Our weekend was pretty good. I made a whole bunch of muffins to have for breakfast this week: sweet pumpkin and chocolate chip, and savory egg omelette ones. And we got a bunch of housework done, too, which was nice. The biggest surprise came from my FIL, though. He and DH aren't very close, and he and MIL are relatively recently separated. But DH called him yesterday bc it was his birthday, and he offered to pay for baby's crib! I was really surprised, but what a sweet thing to do. I know that he's really excited about the baby. Hopefully, things will continue to be on the up and up between them. So fingers crossed!

@LovelyPlum: the lettuce wraps are the best!! And a little pumpkin idea sounds precious! Can't wait to see the end result

@luckypenny: Yay for new cars! What kind is that?
My DH thinks that since I'm 12 weeks, it's time to announce it on FB... like now. I don't think I'm ready for that yet! Even though the families know, I feel like it's still my little secret and the world doesn't need to know. lol When are you all announcing? I'm not sure how I want to do it yet either.
apricot / 448 posts
@LovelyPlum: that's so nice of your FIL, hopefully things will be on the mend now!
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@jill_a55: Toyota highlander! Same with my DH. He's getting anxious saying, " I just want to tell everyone already!" I think I'm waiting until I'm showing a little more, maybe 15 weeks?
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jill_a55: I hope so! It's not so much that we want him to spend money on the baby, or that the "stuff" matters to us (we don't, and it doesn't). But I always feel so bad for DH, because FIL is just really distant a lot of the time. So anytime he takes an active interest in our life, I'm glad for DH
Also, announcing scares the crap out of me. Not sure why, because many of the important people know already. Just a few more friends to tell, then I don't care who else knows. But to just have it "out there" is scary!

I've been telling people on a "need to know" basis, at this point. No formal announcement, yet, but I have talked to several friends and let them know...and also let them know that it's completely off the record. I think once I find out the sex, I'll say something to everyone on facebook. Maybe not, though.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@jill_a55: I don't think I want to put out a general announcement or anything for awhile, like maybe nothing on fb until we know the sex. We haven't told my brother and sil yet--I'm waiting until I see them in person the weekend after next--but then maybe after that we'll start telling more people, since I'll be 12 weeks then as well. Only a few friends and some family (our parents and dh's sister) know so far.
@jhd: congrats!
@luckypenny: nice!!

@LovelyPlum: That is so sweet of him! What a wonderful gesture. Isn't it exciting thinking about baby gear and such? Please post recipes of your muffins.
I went to a baby sprinkle this past weekend. I've been to several this year but this was my first after finding out we're expecting. The practical mommy had only requested gifts that would help with day-to-day things as this is her second baby, so I got her a goodie basket from Honest Company (I heard the healing balm is amazing!).
In terms of sharing the "big news", we told a group of friends last night during a church meeting. They asked me if I was open to becoming a deacon at church and I said next year would be really busy for us and one person put me on the spot and said "Why? Pregnancy!?!?" and I sort of paused a split second too much and all of a sudden, people were congratulating us. Overall I'm so happy they're happy for us, but it was so unexpected. I am 11w2d as of today, so I wanted to get through the end of this week and our NT scan next week before announcing. I asked them to please keep it on the DL for a little bit longer.
It was a relief to tell some people outside of family though - oddly it made me less worried and anxious about things.
I hope everyone else had a great weekend!
PS - one of my favorite things to get at Cheesecake are the lettuce wraps! Yum.

@SupernovaJ: i know what you mean about feeling less worried once some people know. i'm glad things went well even though you weren't maybe planning to tell that group!!
all you ladies are making me hungry.
i haven't tried the lettuce wraps at Cheesecake Factory but i LOVE the lettuce wraps at PF Chang's. i already told DH he's taking me there to celebrate the end of the 1st trimester yuckiness. (because i'm hoping & believing that it will end sometime soon and i'll be ready to make up for all these weeks of boring eating!

Cheesecake Factory sounds so good right now!!
We were "outed" to DH's friends this weekend. He chose not to tell his friends/family until the 2nd tri. My family knows, but I neglected to tell one sibling that not to say anything. The good thing is that they will be supportive regardless. I'm good with it either way.
Since I had family in town, we went shopping. DH nearly had a fit over the cuteness in the Polo store. If I had let him, he probably would have bought something.

@preggomeggo82: welcome!
oh my goodness, symptoms have not been kind to me the last few days! i'm not sure if it's one last bout of crazy fatigue + morning sickness before the end of the first tri, or if it's from overexertion--dh's bday was this past weekend so we were very busy and ate lots of way-too-big-for-me-these-days meals out, but either way, ughhhh!

My belly has popped! I'm trying to keep it covered at school but I know that soon it will be too obvious. Only 12 weeks it ahouldnt be this obvious! Maybe I'll post a pic later.

Ugh I am dreading this plane ride this afternoon (I have an extreme fear of flying, and I am trying this drug free because of baby even though the med is approved). Pregnancy makes everything harder emotionally. I usually just hug and kiss my hubby goodbye, but this morning I cried in the shower. I cried doing my hair. I cried saying goodbye to my puppy. I cried packing. I cried while my husband took me to work. I cried when he said he'd miss me and loves me. And now I'm crying because I'm talking about all the times I cried.

@megz06: Relax! Just think of it as a bus and don't look out the window. How long is the flight?
persimmon / 1273 posts
@megz06: Sorry you're having such a tough time. How long will you be away? Take deep breaths, drink extra water, and maybe find some kind of phrase or mantra to repeat to help calm your nerves. I tend to say the Hail Mary on a plane (even though I am not religious) because repeating the prayer is really comforting. I hope it goes quickly and smoothly for you!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@megz06: oh honey! I'm so sorry you're upset. Deep breaths, mama, you've got this. Headed anywhere fun? When do you come back? I hope DH and the puppy spoil you with lots of kisses and snuggles for your time away.

Checking in with you all after being away for a bit
We've had a lot of wedding travel and I've been a little overwhelmed and exhausted. The nausea is slowly letting up, but I still get pretty sick at times, especially when I'm really tired. The midwife from my last appointment told me to expect to feel better by 14-16 weeks, and I'm 13 weeks now, so any day now!
I'm home from work today because of my NT scan this morning, and having the day off is so helpful. We've been traveling for the past two weekends and I seriously was in need of a break. I am just so much less sick when I get enough sleep, which never happens during the work week (teaching is awesome, but it starts EARLY).
NT scan went well and was just what I needed -- it looks like a baby in there and I feel better about all the symptoms knowing that. And it's maybe a boy, Which is also pretty exciting
Hope everyone else is doing well!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@gilmoregirl: oh, yay on the NT scan! What great news
I hear you on the needing sleep and not having as much energy thing. DH is a teacher, and the mornings are b-r-u-t-a-l for me, especially when I have late class the night before. Hoping your nausea abates soon. Mine is dying down, but not enough to stop the Zofran just yet. And congrats on being in the second trimester already-eeek!

@nana87: yuck
Feeling crappy is the worst. Hope it eases for you very soon!

@megz06: awww sorry you're having a tough time! i'm dreading having to travel again for work, I have a long trip coming up later this fall. how long is your trip for? have a safe flight!
@gilmoregirl: yay for seeing baby!!
apricot / 448 posts
@megz06: Hang in there!! I too have an extreme fear of flying! A couple weekends ago I had to fly by myself (for the first time ever) and couldn't take my medication. I did the same crying as you, but made it through! Can you bring a laptop or something to watch movies? That's what got me through!! I'll be thinking of you!
apricot / 448 posts
Did you all ask to have a NT scan, or was it offered to you? I've never heard of it, and it's nothing that my doctor brought up to me... I know on my next appointment there is an optional blood test that I can do to check for problems, but I don't think I'll get another US until like 19/20 weeks!
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@jill_a55: my dr offered it, it was in a list of a bunch of different diagnostic tests by order of when they're offered. it's optional though and not all insurance apparently covers it
apricot / 448 posts
@nana87: Oh Okay, thanks!
I have spent the past hour on the phone with insurance trying to figure out my coverage (something I should have done a while ago, lol) and now I'm trying to find out what prenatal vitamin is preferred by my insurance... ugh. The one I liked was going to be over $100 out of pocket because it's not preferred.. lame.
Have any of you been through this?
