April 2014 Mamas!

@LovelyPlum: Cute! I've heard that they are similar to the Charlie Bananas which I also have and love!

@Kate6214: I haven't told my principal yet, but I told my grade-level partner and our curriculum supervisor (who is doing my observations this fall). I was pretty sick, and the year has been a struggle so far, so I felt like I needed them to know because it has been affecting my teaching and my ability to really be on top of things. I'm trying to keep it quiet as much as possible, but a number of other teachers have guessed or made comments, which I'm annoyed about (but that's another story altogether). Planning to tell the principal after the first tri is over (just another week for me).

@jhd: My students do not know, and I hope to keep it that way as long as possible. Since I'm still not showing, I figure I should be able to keep it from them for a few more weeks. I teach juniors and seniors, and the majority of my classes are lower-level or remedial, and the kids can be really intrusive. I like to be very selective about what they know about my personal life.

@LovelyPlum: @T.H.O.U: I love the idea of cloth diapers and totally want to do it, but we live in a rented apartment and will probably be putting the baby in daycare...which I'm afraid are two big cons against CDs. But they are totally adorable.

  5. nana87

    cantaloupe / 6171 posts

@gilmoregirl: we have the same issue with CD: we're in an apt with no washer/dryer so I think CDing is out, even though I like the idea in theory! we take our clothes to a wash and fold service around the corner from us, and no way are we making that lady clean our dirty diapers for us, nor would she! I'm sure there must be services in NYC that deliver and do pick ups, but that seems like it'd defeat the eco-friendliness of CDing in the first place...

  6. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@nana87: Oh gosh, that would definitely be a deal breaker. We do have a washer dryer, so I guess I needn't worry about being in an apartment.

Ugh having a full bladder for NT scan sucks! It's an hour away. If I pee now think I'll have time to refill?

  8. megz06

@luckypenny: Honest truth? No, lol. Tell your bladder to hold on for dear life!

  9. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@luckypenny: hope the NT goes well! Tey didn't say anything to me about a full bladder!

@gilmoregirl: as long as you have a washer and dryer you would be fine with CDs. We found a daycare that was happy to take the pockets because they were already together. Most daycares in town are willing to do them. @gilmoregirl: I agree with annoying people "guessing". Just leave me alone, I will tell you when I'm ready!

  10. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@T.H.O.U.: I am in total agreement with "let me tell when I'm ready." It's so incredibly personal and it's my business to share or not share when I want. My situation also involves coworkers speculating about whether or not I'm pregnant, asking others if they know, and those who do know confirming. Which I find kind of infuriating. I've also had comments like, "I know I'm not supposed to know, but congratulations." I swear, it was all I could do to say thank you and not lose my mind. I am so frustrated and it just makes me feel like people do not respect me or my privacy.

@T.H.O.U.: @gilmoregirl: I'm not having a problem with people guessing, but my MIL frankly said the other day "I'll call my sister later this week and let her know" and I said no! I only want our parents and siblings (and ds) to know right now. She seemed taken aback but said she wouldn't tell. I don't know why she's so surprised that I'm hesitant to tell the whole world!

  12. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@gilmoregirl: wow! I can't believe they are speculating like that!! Luckily I dot think anyone at work has guessed yet but I may need some looser clothes to keep the guessing until 12 weeks.

@Dandelion: yes if everyone I think people would be most sensitive to your situation!

Hello ladies I've missed you all! Still catching up on all the pages. I just got back from an overseas work trip to Asia. I was away for a little over a week and work has been hectic. I barely have time to log into HB during the day at the office and when I'm home, well you know how that goes. Killer fatigue. I think someone said they have a work trip coming up. Make sure you get lots of rest!!! I was on my feet all day and I literally crashed every night. It was awful. Then because of the fatigue, the nausea got crazy. It's been a few days since I've been back and slowly feeling normal again and the jetlag is pretty much gone.

I missed an OB appointment last week because my work trip got extended. I dunno how I'm going to carry on in this job while being pregnant. My job is very demanding and I have more overseas travel in November and December. The long hours are also becoming unbearable. I'm currently 10w5d so I haven't announced anything at work. I'm terrified to. Getting pregnant is not really encouraged at my company and is career advancement suicide. I know I don't want to do this long term but just knowing they will be bickering and unsupportive makes me dread announcing it.

Nonetheless I rescheduled the dating ultrasound to today and the baby has grown so much. Heard the heartbeat and it was music to my ears! My due date has been changed to April 11 now.

I think I may have to cave soon and get some maternity pants. I tried buttoning a pair of dress pants today and it was uncomfortably snug! Where do all you ladies shop??

  14. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@SupernovaJ: I shop at Motherhood Maternity. Or at least that is where I bought my maternity pants. I have yet to go into the maternity sections of department stores. I am seriously considering it though because none of my pants fit. I got all new scrub pants for work that are two sizes larger to accomodate my belly, and what sucks is now the legs and butt is too big so I look sloppy. *sigh*

  15. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@SupernovaJ: I'm in mostly maternity clothes now, and all maternity pants/skirts. The two brands I have are Motherhood and Pea in a Pod, but since there's no physical stores around here, the only place that sells them is a special section of Macy's. It's weird, though, because if you search Macy's online, it doesn't show that they carry them. If you search on the Motherhood site, though, it shows a Motherhood store in Macy's. Anyways, that's where I got them, and I like them so far.

Guys, I forgot to take my Zofran this morning. I tried on purpose not to take it yesterday, but I only made it to noon before I caved and took it. The problem is that it makes me dizzy, so I have to lay down after I take it. I was off yesterday, so that wasn't a problem. Today, though, I have to work. I did OK this morning, but I'm starting to feel the nausea big time now. So now I have to decide between taking it and getting big time dizzy, or not taking it and being big time nauseous. Ugh.

  16. PEAPIE

@SupernovaJ: It's unfortunate that your company is not family friendly! That seems so unfair. If I may ask, what line of work is it? And RE maternity clothes... I'm loving H&M. I don't really need maternity-gear yet, but I did a preemptive mini shopping spree the other day and they have some really nice cotton shirts and a decent selection of pants. And H&M is pretty inexpensive.

@LovelyPlum: Gosh lady, I honestly don't think I would survive if I was in your shoes!!! You are a trooper! Hoping that you find sweet relief sooooooon.

  17. SupernovaJ

    persimmon / 1141 posts

@megz06 @LovelyPlum @PEAPIE thank you for all of those suggestions! i'll try to browse the web later today or stop by the mall sometime this weekend. i'm trying hard not to invest too much into maternity clothes and so far have bought a few long / baggy / cozy sweaters that I can wear over leggings. if you know of any great maternity leggings that sit just right, please let me know! is it easier to wear pants super low rise, or right under your boobs? i hate the feeling when the waist of your pants cuts into the middle part of the stomach. i tried stockings the other day and i was absolutely miserably at work all day. couldn't breathe!

@PEAPIE: i work in PR for a global fashion brand

I've had such a busy week, I haven't been checking in! I hope you all are doing well! Nothing new for me to add, really. I've had an eventful week, but luckily, nothing pregnancy related.

I do need some new maternity pants. I'll probably go out looking for some this weekend. I have a few pairs from last time, but when I got them out, I realized that they were really worn out.

  19. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@SupernovaJ: I would like to know about maternity leggings as well. I would like to try to get a couple of cute, trendy outfits, and I have never done leggings and have no idea where to start, but I do know I will need to start with maternity ones!

@LovelyPlum: Ooo I like!!! It is going to take me forever to get used to wearing something over my belly. I wear everything at my hips, slightly under my belly button.

@tbuzz: feel better! I can't wait to snap out of this a bit but I know I can't complain with just heartburn and fatigue.

We are off to a football game Saturday then I leave for work Sunday. Hoping I can hide this from the three guys I'm with.

@jhd: thanks for thinking of me I made it through my work day, but every time I ate, I felt sick, and even when I didn't eat, I felt sick. So I took it when I got home (about 6 p.m.) before dinner so I could actually eat food and maybe feel better. I feel less nauseous, but food still didn't taste that great. Trying to shake a headache and nausea now. But who am I kidding? The fix is probably bed

@megz06: yeah, it's taken me a little while. I usually put on a tank top underneath, so the elastic doesn't touch my skin, which I find irritating. Most of the time, I don't mind the elastic. When they do, though, I usually just fold the elastic over (like the top of yoga pants), and it's helped me. But I'm actually finding I like the support on my belly!

@T.H.O.U.: good luck this weekend! And have fun at the game. Hopefully you are able to enjoy and not feel too sick!

@tbuzz: hi there! Hope you start to feel better soon. I hear ya, nausea and fatigue are KILLER.

Motherhood Maternity has this buy 3 get one free sale on bottoms. They also have a code for free shipping on orders over $75 (MH9).

My total was $74.95, lol. So I added a pair of $2 babylegs and got the free shipping, lol. They were blue, so they could go with boy or girl.

But, after tax, only $80 for 4 pairs of pants and a pair of babylegs. Whoo hoo!

I get to pick up a bag of maternity clothes from my friend this weekend! I have been resisting shopping until I see what she has for me. She said its bags full.

LO and I made the pumpkin muffins I have been wanting and they are SO good.

What are you all up to this weekend? It's pouring here, so we're going to work around the house and spend a lazy weekend inside. I love rain in the fall

@LovelyPlum so glad you are feeling better today!

We were supposed to have the home inspection for our house we are trying to buy (so much happened this week!!!) but the inspector called to say he was feeling very sick. Hoping we can do it tomorrow afternoon. I am enjoying a relaxing Saturday am at home for the first time in months. Made breakfast, doing laundry & about to get caught up on some paperwork for school. It's rainy here so perfect day for a nap!!

    @T.H.O.U.: OMG yummm

So last night I was like a dog stuck choosing between a bone and a piece of bacon I swear. I spent a ton of time looking at baby shoes for our announcement picture. There were many gender neutral shoes that were very cute, so I ended up getting white ones, but then I saw these fuzzy brown boots with a puppy face, and I was going to get those but didn't know if they were too girly. I went back and forth for what seemed like hours before I just bought them both, lol. Then I saw outfits, and I now know I won't be gender disappointed because everything was so darn adorable.

Ladies, hope you all are having a great weekend! I finally caved and got some maternity leggings today. I went to Pea in a Pod and got some leggings - they are currently buy 3 get 1 free. They are a bit pricey at $45 a pair, but the quality is quite nice and isn't the kind that fades too much over time (they are stretchy blends and not all cotton). I figured these are a good investment as I wear leggings most of the time during winter. Just thought I would share - the material is really divine!

I worked the whole time, but went to dinner tonight at cheesecake factory. It was like the best meal I've had in 3 months! I'm 12 weeks tomorrow so I don't know if I'm just having a good non-sickness day or if this is a turning point for me... fingers crossed!!
