@jill_a55: OB offered it along with two other blood draws to test for Downs and other abnormalities. I only had a $25 co-pay and I wanted another chance to see my baby!

@jill_a55: my doc just gave me a pamphlet on the NT scan. My insurance would only cover if medically necessary, which it wouldn't be, so we skipped it. Not sure how much it would've cost if we paid out of pocket though.

I've read that a lot of those tests have really low accuracy. I don't know if we're going to do them. Can't decide.

@preggomeggo82: welcome!
@gilmoregirl: I hear you on the morning sickness when really tired. I had a grueling business trip and when I got back, my nausea was at an all time high. Really had to give my body a break - lots of rest, sleep, no gym, etc. finally feeling better now. Get lots of rest!
@jill_a55: my OB referred us to the maternal-fetal department for the NT scan, no questions asked. Seemed like it was just a routine exam for patients. Ours is next week and if everything goes smoothly we will finally be sharing the news. I'll be just 2 days shy of the 2nd trimester. I will however double check that it's covered by our insurance.

How is everyone this morning?
I hit a big milestone: 12 weeks!! I think it will feel more real next week at 13, because my NT scan is at 13+1, but I'm still very excited

I told my bog boss today (he was thrilled for me) and will be telling the rest of my work team tomorrow. Telling people is so fun!

@LovelyPlum: YAY!!!! what an exciting milestone. i'm 11 weeks today so exactly one week behind you (my due date hasn't changed, but hoping doc might change it at the next appt!!)
@preggomeggo82: yes telling people is fun! i told another two coworkers today and they were just so excited. makes me happy

@LovelyPlum: yay congrats! sounds like a mini celebration is in order for next week, too.
i'm feeling okay today - i feel like i'm finally getting my energy back and am having less food aversions. i just ordered a salad. before, the thought of lettuce would make me wretch. i'm feeling little pains and cramps in the lower abdomen area and have weird pressure in my pubic bone area too. i dunno, maybe uterus stretching? i've had this off and on during the first trimester and it's back again today. overall good.

@LovelyPlum: so happy for you! We made it I'm 13w5d and it still doesn't seem real!

I'm not getting a NT scan, because I had an US at 10 weeks, and I don't back for a prenatal until 14 weeks, (just my colposcopy this friday, which isn't related, even though it's with my favorite OB) which is too late, and I know an us isn't scheduled. BUT the next appointment after that is my anatomy scan!!! They can check NT stuff there.

We only did the NT scan because it was 100% covered and I wanted to see the baby again...My ultrasound at 8 weeks didn't really show much and I was excited to see the baby look like a baby! They even gave us a 3d picture, which is a little creepy and also pretty cool.

@LovelyPlum: yay for being 12 weeks! I'm looking forward to 14 weeks, too, because then it's outside the first tri no matter what source you're using. I'm 13 weeks now, and I love the feeling that I'm going to feel better from here. At least, I keep telling myself this!

I'm so glad everyone is doing well. I posted in the appointment thread, but I figured I'd mention here too
We had the ultrasound this morning and the baby was only measuring 7 weeks and no heartbeat. I'm going to do 2 blood draws. The ob said my dates could be off. But my period is really regular so I'm not too optimistic.

@Kate6214: I am so sorry girl. Get some rest and hope to see you soon.
I'm back from my trip. No one guessed anything. I did buy a beer at one point and shared it and twice snuck and dumped a bit out. I am finally 10 weeks but the NT scan at 12.5 weeks is forever away. I'm feeling good but that mSkes me question things. We haven't told anyone yet.

@Kate6214: I'm so sorry, lady. Hoping for the best news for you. Know we're here for you, OK? Are you having another ultrasound?

@jhd: @futuremama: @SupernovaJ: @gilmoregirl: thanks!!
@gilmoregirl: a girl can hope, right? I really hope we start feeling better soon. I just refilled my Zofran for what I really hope is the last time!!
@futuremama: lady, it is so hard to believe. And look at you-almost 14 weeks!! So crazy, but I feel so blessed. Yay for spring babies and lots and lots of hope

@T.H.O.U.: welcome back! I'm glad you're feeling well. Hoping all is well with the little babe. When do you next go back?
coconut / 8079 posts
@gilmoregirl: @LovelyPlum: i am so very hopeful that in the next few weeks things will turn around!!!! i'm a little behind you ladies (11 weeks yesterday) but hoping that somewhere between weeks 12 and 14 i won't need the zofran anymore...or at least not around the clock!
our students had an abbreviated day today but i'm stuck here at work until 7 for parent/teacher conferences. i always feel worse in the evenings so just hoping today will go ok.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jhd: good luck lady! Hoping you make it through OK. I'm impressed that you can take it around the clock. I can't-it makes me way too lightheaded. It's a shame, thought, because I mostly need it for the afternoons/evenings, but I take it in the morning when I first hit snooze so I can lay down for a bit after I take it. So far, it's been good to me. But I agree, I'll be glad when I'm just back to Unisom and B6, and then hopefully nothing!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@LovelyPlum: The trip went well but so happy to be home. I am now 10 weeks and have 2 more weeks until my NT scan. I really wish we could tell people, but I really feel like we should wait these last few days until we can make sure everything is still ok.
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: I never have remembered to ask my doctor about unisom. I have been taking B6 though. The Zofran does not seem to give me many side effects (except for constipation--that was fun discussing with the receptionist over the phone while trying to get a message to my doc this week!!)

Colposcopy went fine. Nothing to LEEP or biopsy. Dr. said he saw nothing...chalking it up to a false positive. I'll take it!

@Dandelion: Yea! Great update! How are you doing these days.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I'm good...just busy with school. I'm already burning out, and it's only been 8 weeks, blah. But, school is going fine. Nothing new, pregnancy related, which is good, I guess, lol.
My next appointment is October 11.

Happy Saturday everyone!!
We got in a good family walk to the library. I feel so much better that I was able to keep up with walking this week.

@T.H.O.U.: hooray for a nice walk! I was able to walk w DH & dog 4 out of 5 days this week & it felt so good.

I've been feeling my little person for a couple weeks now but lately its gotten a bit more. I'm really happy to already be feeling flips cause it gives great peace of mind.

@Dandelion: really - already?! The other night I could have sworn I felt them but I thought 13 weeks would be too early. Maybe since its not our first ?
watermelon / 14206 posts
@luckypenny: Yeah, and I'm thinking that since I'm less than 7 months postpartum its easy for me to pick out. There was 6 years between DS and S, so with S it was all like the first time again. In fact, I felt DS at 17 week, but not S until 19. This one I just feel flippity flops, but I definitely feel it!

@Dandelion: that is sooooo cool!! i can't wait until i can feel the babe
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Dandelion: that is so nice! I'm thought *maybe* I felt something this week, but I'm not sure. It was more sharp than flutter-y, so I'm wondering if it was a cramp. But I can't wait to feel baby move! Also, glad your colposcopy went well
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@luckypenny: @Dandelion: I am still way early but I know what you mean about flutters! If I lay really still at night I can sometimes feel a little roll/movement.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@T.H.O.U.: @LovelyPlum: Yeah, I feel it at night, too...and right after a meal.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
I'm excited ladies! My friend gifted me three tubs of maternity clothes! Some aren't my style or are too casual for work but it's great to have that and now I can figure out what pieces I need to add. I am going to wait for our NT scan in two weeks and then maybe shop a bit.

@T.H.O.U.: Glad to hear you were able to fake everyone out on your trip!
I am back from my trip now. It went well, but I have had a week long headache, which all the medical experts I was with said is normal. I am hating normal right now!!
My appointment isn't until Friday, but even though everything is still a secret, my MIL took pics today. She didn't really get the nice foot shots I wanted to, but I let it go because-hey-who badgers the free photographer right? So I compiled a few for our pregnancy announcement, so here it is:
