So I just went to lunch and walked around Buy Buy Baby afterwards... Holy overwhelmed. Where do you even begin in there? So many strollers with so many attachments!

I'm 12 weeks today!!! I haven't been exactly crampy but the past few days I have felt maybe some stretching or tightness in my stomach muscles. Does that make any sense?

I had some sharp pain on my left side today during my wildest class of the day. I think it may be from that stupid big cyst. I called & left a message with the nurse because it scared me. I have another ultrasound scheduled for 10/14 just to check on it but I should hear back by Fri if doc wants to see me sooner.

@jill_a55: it's really hard!! I found that research online and thinking about your style and needs is a best place to start. Will it be stored in your house or car? Do you have rough terrain or just mall shopping. Do you want it to expand to a double, have a bassinet or face the parent?

For us we knew we wanted:

    Parent facing option
Good for tall parents (high handle bar and easy stride)
Somewhat rough terrain ability (like at the park)
Good sun cover (we live in Florida)
Bonus - ability to go to a double.

We have an SUV so size wasn't a big issue.

@tbuzz: exciting about telling! And I started cramping this week, too. It's a little frightening, but the nurse said today it likely wasn't a huge deal. She told me to drink more fluids than normal and to come in to give a urine sample if it feels like I'm getting a UTI. Still, I'll be really ready to see baby tomorrow!

@jill_a55: I have been obsessing over strollers for what seems like forever! There are so many options. I've been taking to looking at every stroller of every person I pass on the street, in the mall, etc. DH thinks I'm insane, because we'll be somewhere, and all the sudden my eyes will wander to a stroller! I *think* we are going to try to get a UB Cruz, but I reserve the right to change my mind a million times!

@jhd: yay 12 weeks! I hope that the pain goes away soon. Sounds like you did the right thing by calling!

So I spent an hour making a yummy sounding dinner tonight-broccoli cheddar soup and rolls-only to take the dog outside and promptly throw it all back up. Yuck. I'm crossing my fingers that I am not one of those people who suddenly starts throwing up a lot in the second tri!

@LovelyPlum: oh no! Sorry you got sick. After reading about it I'm wondering if it could have been round ligament pain but still glad I called because it did last several minutes. Been resting all evening & DH made a special trip out to find sour jelly belly jelly beans.

@T.H.O.U.: that is good stroller advice. I will keep those things in mind. Like @jill_a55 I think stroller shopping is a little overwhelming. So many to choose from!

@LovelyPlum: oh no! Hope it was just a one time thing

@jhd: best stroller advice I can give is really think about if you want to use it for one or more kids and go to a big store and test drive them all in person. Go a few times before you make the purchase. Really let it sit in. I made an impulse purchase and while I love my stroller and it was great for our one kiddo, I really wish I would have got something that converted into a double from the get go knowing that we were going to have two close together. UGH

@T.H.O.U.: thanks for the great tips! I will have to start researching and really narrow it down. All I look at now is if it's pretty unfortunately most of those pretty ones are the crazy expensive ones!

@LovelyPlum: I hear ya on stroller watching! I work in retail and there are so many strollers in my store on a daily basis! I'm constantly checking them out and trying to remember the brands that I've seen come in.

@LovelyPlum: I get weird sharp cramps / pains pretty frequently now and the best way I can describe it is stretching of the uterus / RLP for sure. It's the oddest sensation. They are sharp little stabs or pricks but when I envision the pain, it's definitely a stretching pain. Try not to worry!

My favorite gear is also the stroller. I'm always browsing. I hope your nausea was a fluke and yay for seeing the lil bebie tomorrow!

@luckypenny: EDD is now 4/11 thank you!!

  13. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@jill_a55: Yes they are really expensive. Another thought is the carseat obviously. For example, I really was in love with the UppaBaby Vista (this was before the cruz was out). But I couldn't spend $600 on a stroller and then still need to drop money on a carseat. So I started looking at other options and took my mom to try out the Chicco set. It would have been about $300 for the stroller and car seat. However, when I looked further I found the Britax B-Ready that was having the buy one get one free event so I got the stroller and carseat for $400. For the extra $100 I got a lot of extra features on my list like, better wheels, higher handles, better sun shade, seat sits up higher, option to face parent, and option to make a double.

@LovelyPlum: I'm getting nauseated, too. Yesterday I ate some cheese that almost made me throw up...I was gagging. The sad part is I love cheese, and it's a great protein snack, so I gotta figure out how to make myself love cheese again, because it's the one snack I've been hanging on to with dealing with GD. I might have to start snacking on some nuts or something.

We're going to be buying a new stroller for this baby. With S, we planned on using DS's old stroller, but we decided that we're just going to go ahead and get a new one for this kid. I have no idea what kind we're getting, though. We're trying not to think about too much gear, yet, til we know what it is. If we have to buy a bunch of boy clothes, then we'll have to budget it out a little more, but if this is a girl, we just need to get a carseat, so we can get the little things we wanted before but didn't get (like the stroller and a&a blankets). I'll probably get some a&a blankets, anyways...I was really coveting them last time, lol.

@T.H.O.U.: I did get her one but we returned it after we lost her. It was very pink and we didnt know how long it would be before we had another baby.

@Dandelion: ahh ok that makes sense. This way you can make sure the car seat works with the stroller too!

@T.H.O.U.: yeah but we're getting a convertible carseat. So that part doesn't matter so much.

    Happy Friday Everyone!

Lets share a GTKY Question today!

    1) What are you thankful for today?
    2) Any confessions (no flaming)

    1) What are you thankful for today? I am thankful for God today. I am not a super religious person, and I haven't always been the best Christian I can be, but this morning, in the shower of all places, I placed a hand on my belly and prayed that baby's heart be beating away when it comes time for my u/s today. I know God will take care of it.

    2) Any confessions (no flaming): Haha I am so honest I have no confessions other than I haven't done #2 in, like, 3 days. What gives?!! Must be prune time :-\

    1) I am thankful today for fall weather. I love summer but in Florida it can just be too hot. I am starting to exercise more and I love it!

    2) I haven't given up caffeine or been drinking the water I should be. I don't think the tea is the worst thing but I do need more water. Overall my diet has been pretty bad including several lunch meat sandwiches that I just heated in the microwave.

@megz06: That is so, so awesome and I loved reading your post first thing this morning. I think being preggos makes a lot of us more spiritual and that can mean different things for different people. I grew in a super Christian home and it's a part of who I am but I think growing this life inside of me has given me a totally different perspective on life....and pure adulterated love (His love). Thanks for sharing.

    1) What are you thankful for today?
Thankful that it's Friday. It's been a tough week at work. And I am officially 13 weeks today. CRAY!

    2) Any confessions (no flaming)
My meeting was just canceled and I am so happy...heh. Now I can dilly dally on HB.

I was constipated and really bloated for 5 days. During my scan on Wednesday, the ultrasound tech said she could barely see anything in there because I had so much gas (she had trouble finding my ovaries...hahaha). Yesterday was the final straw so I called my doctor and asked about a remedy. She suggested Milk of Magnesia, so I picked some up from the drugstore and finally got some relief a few hours later. It was the worst case of constipation ever - it was to the point I had shortness of breath. I'm not backed up anymore but now I'm having the opposite (diarrhea) which is always a side affect of these kinds of meds. Fun stuff, looks like I'll be making lots of trips to the ladies room today.

    Happy Friday all.

@T.H.O.U.: my diet has been SO bad the first trimester and it's finally looking normal. one night, i convinced DH i needed to eat both a junior whopper and fish sandwich from burger king. we got there, i got both (with fries) and ate almost all of it. at the end, i said it didn't really hit the spot so we made our way to mcdonald's where i ordered a cheeseburger, filet-o-fish and fries and again, ate most of it. i felt so sick afterwards but it hit the spot in the moment...

i'm also loving the weather!! we live in the northeast and it's unusually warm these days, around low 80s. Woo-hoo for exercising again.

it's okay to drink caffeine. i made a conscious effort to cut cold turkey but then i'll go to a restaurant and have a whole pot of dark black tea all to myself. hahaha. so my for not having any caffeine...

    1) What are you thankful for today? We saw baby this morning at our NT scan! Everything is looking good so I'm super relieved and grateful

    2) Any confessions (no flaming): I have barely done any work recently...At least though I've gotten a lot done on organizing our apt and getting rid of things that take up too much of our limited space! That helps me feel a little productive but I really need to get my butt in gear...this dissertation won't research itself...

    1) today I am thankful for the gorgeous weather (it's going to be in the 80s today) this morning because I got to sit outside with my pup and watch the hummingbirds. I'm basically an old lady that watches the birds hahaha

    2) I had a complete meltdown yesterday. Sorry to swear, but I lost my shit! Crazy hormones plus not feeling well did me in. Thankfully my mom was over during the meltdown and did some stuff for me around the house, and when my husband came home he thought it was me!

Not to interrupt our wonderful GTKY talk (I am enjoying what everyone is thankful for), but I posted my u/s story over in appointments. Baby was dancing, heart beat at 173, measuring 2 days ahead (but I'm going to stick with April 13 anyway), and we finally got to hear the heart beats.

So to add on to my GTKY talk, I am thankful baby is healthy and beautiful.

    1. I am thankful for my DH. I'm thankful for him all the time, but he has just been especially wonderful this week.
I'm also thankful that my next ultrasound is only ten days away. It is hard to be patient while waiting to see baby again!

    2. Confession: I took a sick day yesterday. I had some sharp pains on Wed. and it scared me. I'm thinking now it may have just been RLP. But I was just completely exhausted. So I stayed home, ate chocolate chip pancakes, watched TV, and took a long nap.

    1) What are you thankful for today? I'm thankful for a "day off"...DS is off school today, and it's his dad's weekend, so he left last night. DH still had to work, so I slept in and vacuumed the house in very much detail. We have red carpeting (it's a rental, so we can't change that) and 2 white animals (and 2 dark ones, but the white is horrible on the red). And, while I vacuum at least every other day, once in a while I need to do a deep down carpet cleaning and today was my uninterrupted day to do that. It's very weird thinking that I'm not going to have to stop everything and go pick up DS from school later, lol.

    2) Any confessions (no flaming): My anxiety is through the roof. Between school and this pregnancy, lately I've been in what my mom calls my "shutdown mode". I don't freak out...instead I just don't do a whole lot at all. I know the vacuum situation doesn't sound like it, but today is the first day I've felt any motivation in a while. It's partly why I've been so quiet these days. I'll get through it...usually just takes a few days like today to start feeling like myself again.

@Dandelion: I'm sorry you are feeling anxious but yay for motivation & getting things done today!! Our apt is a mess!!!! Like I would die of embarrassment if anyone saw it. I just have no energy or motivation to clean it up!

    1. I'm thankful it is the weekend, and even though I had to Procter the SATs, it is almost over and I'll have some snuggle time w my hubby soon.

    2. Confession: I ate like a total pig this week. We had a work potluck and I "had" to try everything despite the fact that I usually eat a salad every day. Then did it again w leftovers yesterday. Indulging is fine if I balance later, but dinners have not been any better and i sucked at working out. Can't wait til my appt next week. That weigh in... I'm 14 weeks! Hello 2nd trimester...what??? I feel like this pregnancy is going by so fast! Probably because I'm not paying as much attention to it as I did with S. Also, I'm in school and staying busy in other ways. The holidays did help last year during my pregnancy with S, for time to go by faster, so I'm relying on them again for this one. It's nice to be pregnant during the holidays!
