@jhd: I ended up with a heat headache yesterday. I took LO out and it was way hotter and humid then I expected. Ended up in bed early.

My hormones are crazy. I serious watched a YouTube video of a shuttle launch and I teared up.

Hi! I haven't been on HB all weekend, because scrolling has made me nauseous. Bonus: it's kinda fun to be computer-free for a few days! But it looks like I missed a bunch, so let's see what I can do about that

Get to know you fun facts:
    1. I am so grateful for my family today. It's been a rough few weeks for them (my dad is on furlough), but everyone has remained positive. And, I'm grateful for the time that I got to spend with our little growing family (me, DH, baby, and pup) this weekend!

    2. Confessions! OK, I have a few. First, I ate sushi a few weeks ago, raw fish and all, and I do not feel the least bit guilty about it. And slightly more risque, I'm terrible with keeping up with shaving my lady area. I just hate doing it, so I usually don't. But I bought a new razor yesterday, and I had a successful go at it this morning. Feels much better! We'll see how it goes tomorrow-day after feeling is what I really hate!

@megz06: I am so glad that baby is doing well! That is the most amazing feeling. Hope you've gotten some relief-constipation is no joke! I don't think that I've been regular or normal in 3 months. Sadness.

@T.H.O.U.: I've been trying so hard with the water, but it's hard! Also, I haven't even tried to give up caffeine. Limit it to under 200 mg a day, yes. Eliminate? Heck no. And I had a really good weekend, thanks! Going to do a bunch of cooking today.

@SupernovaJ: my diet hasn't been great, either. I'm trying so hard to get better, but it's hard when things still don't sound good! Confession #3 would be that I've gained 8 pounds-eek! I blame it mostly on the fact that I wasn't eating carbs before I got pregnant, but now all I want are carbs. But I don't look bad, and my doctor isn't worried. The number was making me insane, though, so I put the scale away. Focusing on healthy eating is helping, I think!

@nana87: yay for a great NT! And I'm having a terrible time concentrating as well. It's bad, and it needs to get better soon!

@jill_a55: I hope that you're feeling better. I haven't had a meltdown in a while, but I have noticed that my hormones are making me super emotional. I've almost cried at more than one commercial this weekend.

@jhd: A sick day sounds totally delicious. I love sick days (well, not the sick part). I'm kinda taking one tomorrow. I have a doctor's appt, and I have to go back for my repeat NT, so I'm not holding office hours. Pretty pumped about it, actually.

@Dandelion: I hope your weekend off helped you to feel a little better. I'm sorry about the anxiety-it really throws everything off. But congratulations on 14 weeks, lady. That is so awesome! I'm loving the fact that we're in the second tri-I'm 13w4d today...how did that happen?!?!

@luckypenny: I hope that you had a great trip away! Just because trips are the best And we love candy over here...it's almost Halloween, right??

@HazelEyes: weigh-ins are my nemesis. Seriously, I hate, hate them. Tomorrow morning will not be fun.

@T.H.O.U.: I'm with you on hormones. I've been crying both weeks at Glee, and I'm literally dreading this upcoming week, because it's the tribute to Cory. I want to watch it, but I'm already such a mess. And, I'm not usually this sappy over stuff like that!

Cat is out of the bag, and people are excited. I went to tell my aunt, who I am close with and said, "You're going to be a great aunt." She just giggled and said, "Yeah." Then she started talking about this heated mattress pad she bought for DH for about 5 minutes. I was so confused. All of a sudden she just says, "Wait, are you pregnant?!" I said, "Yes!" Then she started crying. Everyone always thinks we are talking about the dog, lol.

It's been overwhelming but good. My MIL is already buying stuff and driving me absolutely crazy (the story about her is too long). So overbearing grandma and great-grandma are rearing their ugly faces, but I don't have to see MIL until end of October, so that will buy me a few weeks of peace

And I need peace because I have been way more tired lately. Whoever said you will get a burst of energy in the 2nd tri is liar!

@Dandelion: I have a love/hate with being pregnant during the holidays. I feel like I wayyyy over eat but I love that I don't have to worry about unbuttoning my pants at the table lol

@LovelyPlum: All. I. Want. Is. Sushi. I still eat raw cheese sometimes.

Weekend away was nice! We ate out every meal, thanks to MIL, so I feel a little sluggish but it was nice to get away. We announced over social media yesterday too and got so many words of love and happiness from our friends. It was great and feels nice to be "out". Also, Im buying maternity jeans today. Mine still fit but are definitely uncomfortable by the end of the day.

@luckypenny: love the pic! we haven't announced on fb yet, but lots of my coworkers know & several people at church.

Scared I will jinx myself by putting this out there, but the nausea seems to be settling some. It's not gone, but definitely not so much an all day long thing.

Lots of kids coughing in class today so I'm using extra hand sanitizer when I can't wash hands & just wiped down all my desks with Clorox wipes. Let's hope their germs stay away from me!

    @luckypenny: Very cute.

I cannot wait for Friday so we can start telling family. It sucks because even if everything is ok Friday, I am not going down to my moms house until Friday the 18th. I think I am going to put DD in a "Big Sister" shirt and see what they say. I will be 14 weeks by then. After THAT we can start telling friends and work.

  16. T.H.O.U.

@jhd: My DD is sick too and I am trying to be really careful! I am already so tired I can't imagine getting sick too.

    @luckypenny: Adorable pic!!

@jhd: I hope I get some energy too. Being tired is making me crabby (my MIL is also contributing to the crabbiness). Stay healthy with all those sick kids around. Icky.

Yay to those who have "come out"! It's really exciting to share the news... we shared with most of our friends and our church over the weekend. I don't think we'll do a Facebook announcement and I'm still debating on when I should tell work. This part gives me anxiety, I won't lie.

Now that I'm in the second trimester, I feel like a totally different person. Fatigue is there a little bit, but the nausea and food aversions are pretty much gone. It's funny how your body just changes and adjusts for each trimester (of course not everyone) but I hope each and every single one of you will have way less unpleasant symptoms in the days to come. I'm eating chicken and vegetables again which is a miracle because they grossed me out so badly during the first trimester. I felt total guilt over how awful I was eating (loading up on carbs) so now that I can eat normal again, it's such a relief. I still have to work on the exercise part though.

I have about 5 more weeks until I announce publicly on Facebook. ...because that's when I find out what it is! I have never been more curious about a baby, lol. Will this kid get S's clothes, or will I have/get to do some major baby boy shopping? Either way, it'll be great!

I can't wait til this Friday...it's my first doppler appointment!

  21. LovelyPlum

@Dandelion: glad I'm not the only one!!!

@luckypenny: @T.H.O.U.: are you guys avoiding? I am just going to the one place that we love, it's a good, clean restaurant, and I trust it. I can understand how some people aren't comfortable, but for me personally, I'm not terribly concerned if I have it every once in a while.

@megz06: excited for you! We're about to let the cat out of the bag this week, and I'm nervous! Glad you get some peace from MIL. And I hear you on the energy...I'm zonked, all of the time!

@luckypenny: beautiful pic! And congrats on being out there. Enjoy those stretchy jeans

@jhd: knocking on wood for you!!! I am feeling better, but not "stop taking Zofran" better. More like, with the medicine, I feel normal. Yay for feeling normal! I hope those germs stay away from you. DH had a cold last week, and I largely avoided it (fingers crossed super tight). Ugh, flu season is upon us, and it is no fun.

@Dandelion: @luckypenny; I"m excited to be pregnant during Advent. We're Catholic, and Advent is the season right before Christmas, so all of the readings are about waiting, expecting, preparing your hearts, etc. Also lots of talk about preparing for baby Jesus. I had a really hard time with it last year, because it felt like TTC was forever far away. But I can't wait for it this year!

@T.H.O.U.: I'm so excited for you to tell people! Hoping Friday brings lots of peace of mind for you, and some excitement, too!

@SupernovaJ: I'm so glad that you feel better! I've had several comments that my complexion is better, and that I look less sick, so that's a step in the right direction, yes? Enjoy that chicken...I'm still a little grossed out by it. But I actually made dinner last night, which is new and different lately. Yay for feeling human!!

In other news, my repeat NT was this morning. I'll update the appointments board, but good news there. Now, if I could just a) get rid of these migraines (I had my second one this week yesterday), and b) stop falling (I fell on wet leaves both yesterday and this morning...ouch), we would be in great shape! It's fall weather here, finally, so I am excited to make this a great week.

    Hope you all are well

@Dandelion: missed this...I can't believe we're to gender scans already!!!

  23. jill_a55

    apricot / 448 posts

@LovelyPlum: @Dandelion: You guys are making me hungry! Sushi is my favorite thing ever and I haven't had any in like 4 months!! My Dr. didn't really say it was so bad for me.. just that HE didn't like it and didn't trust the source for the fish... hmmmmm maybe I could sneak in some of that goodness!

@luckypenny: My super aggravating Stepmom told me I couldn't eat brie and I took a bite of it anyways... then started reading that it was bad a few weeks later. boo, I love brie and hate when she's right! Such a great picture and way to come out socially!!! I have been thinking about doing it tomorrow, because it's our anniversary and I'm 14 weeks today! I'm tired of hiding!

@megz06: I hear you on being exhausted!! I've taken more naps in the last week than I think I have total this pregnancy!

My friend made me do a Chinese gender chart, and it said I am having a girl. She agreed because of my level of sickness... lol Have you guys done any of the gender tests for fun?

  24. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@jill_a55: I did the Chinese gender chart, and I got girl as well. I've also had two dreams it was a girl, but from what I saw of the u/s I think it is a boy, although our tech wouldn't take a guess.

  25. luckypenny

    grapefruit / 4582 posts

@jill_a55: you can have Brie! I eat A TON. Almost all of it pin the US is pasteurized just double check. I've only found raw cheese at specialty shops & whole foods

  26. luckypenny

    grapefruit / 4582 posts

@jill_a55: Chinese gender chart said girl for me!

It said girl for my first pregnancy and it was right.

  27. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@luckypenny: @jill_A55Yup, Brie is fine if it's pasteurized, and almost all cheese you buy in the US is. You'd just have to check if it's a farm store, specialty store, etc. Raw milk cheese is generally labeled as such, at least where I live in PA (it's law here, I think!).

@lovelyplum: I read The Panic Free Pregnancy and highly, highly recommend it, but his conclusions about sushi were that any concerns a pregnant woman should have about sushi were identical to concerns any person should have about sushi. So if you're at a place you trust and not eating it for every meal....I wouldn't even feel guilty I have been very (surprisingly) relaxed about following the food "rules" and have instead been more an "everything in moderation" type. I take listeria a little more seriously buuuuuut I don't like lunch meat or hot dogs anyway!

  28. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

@jill_a55: For me, the Chinese gender chart said boy, and based on our NT scan that is accurate. My friends are all convinced it's a girl because I've been sick, my skin sucks, etc, but we're waiting to confirm at the anatomy scan before we tell anyone it's a boy.

  29. gilmoregirl

    persimmon / 1273 posts

I had a miracle day yesterday in which I woke up and felt almost entirely normal...and stayed that way all day, even while doing all kinds of chores and errands. It was amazing. I don't think I've had a day that good since before I got pregnant haha. I thought it must have been because I slept so well Saturday night and slept in Sunday morning, but I slept terribly last night and still feel good today! Even after working all day! So I'm hopeful that perhaps I've really turned a corner; if I can at least have more good days than bad days, I will get by.

But I'm 15 weeks this week, so maybe this is the second trimester relief I'm always hearing about

    Still not showing at all

@luckypenny: @gilmoregirl: shut. the. front. door. SERIOUSLY!? you guys just made my day... bring on the brie!!!!!!

@gilmoregirl: my skin SUCKS right now, again!! It was so bad right at the beginning and has come back in full force.. I think it's because I finally got on a prenatal consistently (was taking samples for all this time)

Question for you ladies. I had my ultrasound after my doctor visit last time & was measuring ahead of my calculated due date. Do you think the doctor will adjust it when I see her next? Based on the ultrasound I'm actually 12w6d today. (I know due dates are still guesstimates but it would just be nice if it was 5 days sooner!!! )
