@nana87: 24 weeks for me too this week! So exciting!
@Ctran: welcome! Lots of boys on this thread! Congrats!

@Ctran: welcome!! How old is your daughter?
I've been loving my trip back home so far. My mom and sister have watched DD a lot so me and DH can go out for dinner, go shopping etc...it's been heaven! I've also been eating a ton of dunkin donuts lol I'm definitely going to miss it when I go back to the west coast.
Does anyone have any exciting New Years plans? DH & I were going to sit at the bar at our favorite restaurant but it caught fire on Christmas Eve! So now we are going to try a new place. Should be fun
grape / 98 posts
@jhd: thanks!
@luckypenny: dd is 27 months and we just started potty training... so exhausting....
For New Years my husband's restaurant is having a little party so may stop by there for a little bit. Will be nice to get out of the house for a bit.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@Ctran: oh man. I was thinking about starting with my DD who is 20 months but I thought she may regress when baby shows up and I'm just too lazy lol Good luck mama! how fun he owns a restaurant ! What kind ?
coconut / 8079 posts
@luckypenny: glad you are having such a good trip & enjoying time with your DH! I'm sure your mom & sis just love to spend time with your little girl too!!
We are planning a quiet evening at home for New Years. Maybe a game night--we like board games or card games. Plus we both go back to work on the 2nd. Boo!
grape / 98 posts
@luckypenny: it's a seafood restaurant... And potty training is the worst but our daycare wants us to do it before she starts their preschool... Your daughter is still young yet. Most of the literature I read on potty training suggests around 22 months to start so you still have time...
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@Ctran: yumm! I loooove seafood. Yeah, I think we will probably start around 27 months, a few months after baby gets here. I think she'll be better able to communicate too. I hope it goes easy. She already makes me take al her baby dolls to the potty 10x/day so I'm tired of "changing" diapers for three babies lol

@Dandelion: merry Christmas! I'm glad you had a relaxing day. We're at my parents, and our tree at home is still up. We usually leave it up until at least after Epiphany, which is January 5 this year. Then, we'll probably take it down. But, I really, really hate taking down Christmas decorations, so I replace them all with snowmen!
@nana87: @jhd: hooray for viability!!!
@megz06: I hope you can get some good answers at your appointment. There was another bee on here who developed pregnancy-induced anxiety, but for the life of me, I can't remember who. I'll try to think of it. But either way, I hope you can get some help, and some relief.
@Ctran: hi, welcome! Glad you're out of lurkerdom and joining us. I can't believe we're adding *another* boy here-that's awesome!
@luckypenny: I'm so glad that you're having a good trip! We're still at my parents' house, too, and it's pretty lovely. I really like getting to relax and not have to worry about grown up things. As for NYE, we actually have plans this year-amazing! We're going to a murder mystery party. I hope I can stay awake
@jhd: going back on the 2nd is a big thumbs down! Schools around here don't start again until the 6th, and DH is excited. At least you get a short first week back, though!
eggplant / 11408 posts
I forgot to add: we made it FB official today! We weren't going to post at all, but it felt like the right thing to do. I am glad we did, because people are really excited. I tried to reference our road to get here, though, because I know how hard it was for me to see announcements while we were struggling. I can't believe how real it feels now!! This baby is actually coming, apparently

@LovelyPlum: Glad you are having a good time with family & how fun to share your news on Facebook. your NYE plan sounds fun!

We started a registry tonight at Target. That was fun! I'm feeling a little more rested after some time off school. Counting down the hours til we get to see our boy tomorrow.

@LovelyPlum: Thank you, and I am so glad your FB announcement went well!! So exciting
@SupernovaJ: It is coming up so fast!

Hey everyone, nothing to post really, but checking in.
What are you using as the start of your third tri? I see different things, 27, 28 weeks?
persimmon / 1273 posts
@HazelEyes: I'm using 28, although I've seen as early as 26. I'm holding out so that the third tri feels faster, I think. A week and a day away for me!
@SupernovaJ: I'm pretty excited that we've made it all the way to this point! I'm down to about 90 days till my due date. Guess we should get a crib or something
eggplant / 11408 posts
@SupernovaJ: @HazelEyes: @gilmoregirl: it is insanity to think we are all getting so close! I was wondering about third tri, too. I had originally thought it was 27 weeks, but my Mayo Clinic app says 28, so that's what I'm going with, I think.
@gilmoregirl: lol, we have nothing, either. Guess I should get on that, huh?
@megz06: thanks!
@jhd: how did it go today?
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: it went well! Thanks for asking I updated on the appt thread too but growth is looking good 1lb9oz already which sounds good to me!
I'm always amazed to see all the movements and the heartbeat. I always get so anxious/excited before big appointments & then feel worn out. So I enjoyed a nice long nap this afternoon.

Happy New Year April Mamas!!! Hope you have all had relaxing holiday time with family & friends.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@LovelyPlum: how was the murder mystery party?! That sounds awesome!
@HazelEyes: I've heard 27 and 28. I really don't have a preference. Lol
@jhd: glad you had a good appt
Happy New Years everyone! DH, DD & I are headed back to California tonight on the red eye. I swear I've gained 5 lbs this week in charleston eating nothing but Mac & cheese, fried chicken and grits. UGHHH. Can't wait to get back home and mellow out. There was some family drama, as usual, but we really did have a good time overall.
What's everyone's resolutions? I never make them but I do want to make a more conscious effort to be more present and patient this year
coconut / 8079 posts
@luckypenny: hope you have a good trip home! glad you enjoyed your time with family & sounds like some good food!
I'm not excited about starting back at work tomorrow, but I am ready for the holidays to be done so we can get back into a routine of healthier foods and exercise. I don't really have any resolutions per se, but I am going to continue to try to focus on the positive & ignore some of the negativity around me. (Teenagers aren't exactly the most cheerful people on the planet!)
Unless we get snow days we should have a 4 day weekend in Feb but I have been super focused on getting things done around the house since this is really my last big break until the baby comes!!
eggplant / 11408 posts
Happy New Year, pretty ladies! Reality check: WE ARE HAVING OUR BABIES *THIS* YEAR!!!!! I may or may not have freaked when I realized that last night
@jhd: I'm so glad that it went well! And I hear you on getting wiped out-I do, too! I'm glad that you got some things done over break. I'm sad you go back tomorrow, though! No school around here goes back until Monday.
@luckypenny: so we didn't actually end up going. We were visiting my parents for Christmas, and the weather was really bad up here yesterday. So, we decided to stay an extra day! It was so nice to have my mama take care of me for a whole week. I hear you on both the family drama and the 5 pounds, ugh, but overall it is so nice to be with family. I will be happy to have my routine back, though, especially since we STILL HAVE NOTHING DONE for this child. Once our tree comes down this weekend and my ILs come and then leave next week, I really, really have to start getting serious.
My resolutions involve eating more veggies and trying to live with less "stuff." I'm hoping that the former will help with my post-baby body and the latter will also lead to a cleaner house. A girl can dream, right?
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@jhd: flight delayed! Leaving in the AM I swear this never happens when I'm traveling without a baby lol hooray for gettin things done and I like your "resolutions"!
@LovelyPlum: I know!! I can't believe we will be a family of 4 this year! I've done nothing for baby either but as soon as I get back we are hitting the ground running reorganizing the baby's room, sorting toys and cleaning out closets. Eating veggies is a good one! I think I'm going to have at least one of my meals be a salad everyday so I can sneak some extra in without putting on too much weight this last trimester.
coconut / 8079 posts
@luckypenny: oh no! hope you are on your way home by now!
@LovelyPlum: i looked at DH at midnight and said 'this is the year of baby!' i know we've had multiple ultrasounds, i've felt kicks, and i'm getting big and preggo but sometimes i really can't believe we will have a baby in a few short months! and i'm totally not ready to be back at work b/c there's so much i want to do around the house to get ready for him!! oh well. i'm with you on the more veggies thing. i couldn't really eat very many veggies in the first tri but i'm doing so much better. got some salad stuff the other day + some spinach to put in smoothies.
persimmon / 1141 posts
@LovelyPlum: happy new year!!!
i can't believe us april mamas are having our babies in about 3-4 months. not ready but so ready at the same time!
i hear you on trying to live with less stuff. i get overwhelmed at the thought of all the baby stuff and kids just having so much stuff these days. i wonder how things will really pan out for me though. i went through the registry the other day and started to "down grade" and whittle away at all the extraneous little things. i think you'll end up getting them anyway at the shower but i would love to be as minimal as possible. i'm foreseeing a huge purge and deep clean at our house very soon before the baby arrives.
happy new year to all!

@LovelyPlum: I totally freaked out when I had the 2014 = Baby Year realization too!

@jhd: I went back to school yesterday too. It was a big drag… but we got a snow day today woo hoo!
persimmon / 1273 posts
@HazelEyes: Snow day for me too! I'm a little bummed about it because the makeup day will be when I'm on maternity leave, so I won't get paid for it Boo.
clementine / 811 posts
@gilmoregirl: ooh, I'm hoping we don't get to that. We have five built in and this is number three.
coconut / 8079 posts
@HazelEyes: @gilmoregirl: we got a snow day today too. I have enjoyed not being out in the cold & catching up on work BUT it means they are taking away one day from our 4 day weekend in Feb. and I'm hoping we don't get too many snow days like @gilmoregirl: they will start to be tacked on to the end of school when I will be out on leave & won't get paid.

Went to ikea yesterday hoping to pick up a toddler bed for DD. they didnt have the one I wanted an now I'm thinking we will just buy a twin bed.
Over the holidays we had some major changes go on in our finances (we are loosing about $30k/year) so we are in a little bit of panic mode. Pretty sure we are moving to a one bedroom. DH is taking me to look at this condo to buy this afternoon. On one hand, I know we can make it work and its better for our family in the long run but I am really going to miss our apartment we are in now. It's 2 bedrooms, not too big and not too small and right downtown. I can walk to a park, grocery store and Starbucks. I won't be within walking distance of anything at the new place. I'm just venting and hoping this really doesn't work out but who knows. I just wish it wasn't so damn expensive to live in the Bay Area

@luckypenny: sorry to hear this & hope things work out in the best way possible!

How is everyone this Monday morning? Do you all have snow?
I have another snow day and the roads are icy so I'll be staying put all day. I'm actually at my parents' house so I can't work on any of my baby crafts but I'm trying to get ahead on grades and lesson plans so at least it will be a productive day. I found some great baby books at our local library and thankfully I brought one with me so I can always read that!
Mom and I looked at carseats and swings online last night and I'm still so overwhelmed by all the different choices. I think I just need to see some in person.

Yesterday LO started some hiccups. I now know he's head down, but I ready really knew that, since my pelvis has been really achy.
I think S got my pelvis out of whack, but it's just not resurfacing until now that LO's head is crushing down on it.
So, last night I was turning over in bed (which is probably my most painful move regarding my pelvis.) I heard a huge CRACK and for a minute I thought I might have done some kind of damage. But, I think it was my pelvis getting back into alignment, because now it feels a lot better! It's still a little sore, but it's not as bad as it was.
I think I'll see if my insurance covers a chiropracter. I might take advantage, if they can make me feel even better.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@jhd: no snow here! I'm definitely not jealous of everyone I see on Facebook posting thermometer pics of -9 temps! Monday is good so far, although DH is going back to work and me and DD are going to miss him so much!!
@Dandelion: I love baby hiccups!! This one hasn't had any yet
eggplant / 11408 posts
@SupernovaJ: I did this, too...took things off of the registry, because they just seemed like extra "stuff" to have around.
@luckypenny: I am so sorry. That is such a stressful situation-we've had something similar happen before, and I totally freaked about it. But it will work out somehow...it always does. I hope that you guys can find a solution that works for your family and that can relieve some of the stress on you! How did the condo look?
@jhd: happy Monday! Our snow comes tonight and tomorrow morning (well, there's some on the ground from the last storm, but we haven't gotten more yet). My MIL and SIL are visiting tomorrow, so I hope that the roads are good for their trip! It's going to be bitter here the next few days.
@Dandelion: now that sounds painful! If a chiropractor is covered, you better believe I would be going!
We started some of our closet-cleaning out yesterday, and it went really, really well. I tend to get overwhelmed when I do these things, but it felt so good to just get rid of things! We took down our tree (weren't planning to, but we had all the Christmas boxes out, so away it went), and we rearranged the living room. It feels so much bigger than it did! There are still tons of things to do, but we're getting there!
Stay warm, everyone!

Happy New Year everyone!! I am so behind on posts, the last week or so has been crazy! We went out of town for about 5 days because I had a conference plus a bachelorette party, and it was all great except I am so exhausted. We just got back home yesterday and all these little things keep going wrong: my cell phone started to break down and I was able to get an upgrade/new phone but only after some major hassles; I had a dentist appointment and owwww my poor gums hurt, plus I slipped in our apt building lobby today--luckily I fell on my butt so I think I'm okay but owwwww; and today we had our changing table delivered, which I was SO SO excited about but they sent the wrong one!! So now I have to deal with getting it exchanged....such a pain!
@luckypenny: I hope things work out!
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: I hope the roads are ok so you can still have your family visit! They have already called school off for tomorrow. I'm happy I'm stuck at my parents' house since DH is traveling for work, but at the same time wish I had some baby crafting projects with me or something. Oh well! I hear you on the closet clean out. That really makes me stressed at times, but I did some major cleaning out over Christmas break and it really did feel good.
coconut / 8079 posts
@nana87: oh no! it stinks to have a good trip and then come home to pesky things like that. i hope you can get your changing table exchanged without too much hassle.
