@nana87: welcome back, lady! I hope that you had a good trip. And what a pain on the changing table-it's the little things like that that can get so irritating. Be careful out there-DH keeps warning me not to slip!

@jhd: thanks, I hope so, too. DH will be really sad if he can't see his sister. I haven't started crafting yet, though I'd like to make a taggie blanket, if I can. Mostly, I'm just trying to get ahead on school work so that I can concentrate on baby as we get closer.

In other news, I had my first instance yesterday where I tried to squeeze through a small space, and I couldn't fit! It's so silly that this made me excited

@LovelyPlum: I'm starting to really clean and get organized today, too. Finally, with DH back at work, and DS back in school, I feel like I can have some productive days without having to deal with going to classes. I feel like I have a lot of work to do, still, but I've done a lot of progress today...despite my standings on the leaderboard, lol. I just take a lot of breaks.

I think the dogs like things back to normal, too. They seem more relaxed today than they have been lately.

@LovelyPlum: Ha, small spaces. It's funny to me how much people around me don't realize. Over the holidays, I've had to make several people move their chairs so I can get by. Sorry, no sucking it in, now!

@LovelyPlum: condo was actually nice. It was pretty big for a 1 bedroom and think it could actually work. We are looking into a few things about the HOA. It just wasn't my favorite location

In other news - I'm dying because I'm craaaaving coffee and fruit but have my glucose test in an hour.

  5. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

@luckypenny: I have a late glucose test on Friday...I can eat some protein, but not after 9, and no coffee. I know it's going to be a migraine kind of day. Good luck with your test!

  6. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@Dandelion: normal is good! Our normal won't be until the weekend, though, with family coming in. But DH is so excited to see his sister that how can I be upset about that?? I'm back to work for a day this week, then next week I have to go in for a few days. Our semester doesn't start until January 27, so I'm using this time to get ahead on work and try to start doing things for this baby! // Also, you're so right-can't suck this in anymore! DH doesn't even realize he can't squeeze hug me too tight-I've had to remind him more than once that it hurts now!

@luckypenny: Are you going to keep looking for another one in your preferred location? Or are there other places that you could look that you would like the area better? Especially if you are buying, it's important to like where you live! Also, ugh on the glucose test. Mine was this AM, and by the time I got out I really wanted to eat!

  7. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@Dandelion: ew! That sounds gross. Is this the three hour?

  8. luckypenny

    grapefruit / 4582 posts

@Dandelion: I may have had a little coffee - hoping it doesn't interfere. I read mixed opinions. OB also said protein was ok. She wasn't too worries since my levels were really good with DD. I just reeeeaaalllyyyy don't want to do the 3 hour one

@LovelyPlum: well, we would really only live there for two years. We want to eventually get out to east coast, or if we stay put here, want to be putting our money in equity instead of wasting it on rent. So I guess I could live anywhere for two years. But yeah, we are taking our time. It sucks

@jhd: Stay warm! We didn't have a snow day, but we did have a "it's too damn cold to be outside" day, lol. DH got to stay home today, although today is "nice" compared to the -50 temps we have been having. Work was closed until noon today.

We bought a chair AND crib. I am so excited. And I decided to do a nursery, and it has been so much fun so far. I am keep it pretty inexpensive, but operation Dr. Seuss nursery is officially a go! I am SO excited for DH to pick up our chair today. Lats sleepless night I will have. We weren't going to buy the crib, but it was on sale, and we figured rather than hold out for someone to maybe buy it for us we'd just purchase it while it is cheap.

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@megz06: you stay warm, too! I've been thinking about you in those chilly temps! And congrats on the nursery! That's really exciting

@luckypenny: true, you can pretty much do anything for two years. On the other hand, two years is a very long time to be unhappy. Crossing my fingers that the right place is out there for you!

    @LovelyPlum: @jhd: Thanks, ladies.

I just want to say the chair is ah-mazing! I slept until 3:30a and then got up to go to the chair, and I slept like a rock until DH's alarm went off at 6:30a. I did have a hard time falling asleep because one, I had to get right back up to pee, two, the chair was too close to the wall so I couldn't recline it, and three, the tension on the chair isn't set to my liking so the back kept slipping upward if I moved just right.

I can deal with all that though. I woke up with no hip or leg pain, and I was able to get some sleep for the remainder of the early morning. I can't say I'm full of energy, but at least I am not walking around like a zombie!

@megz06: glad you got some sleep! what kind of chair did you get? we picked out a lazy boy recliner when we moved and it is just the perfect fit for me right now. i love it. we got a rocking base on it & i can't wait for baby snuggles in that chair

  14. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@jhd: It's a lazy boy recliner. It does rock (with the foot rest down of course). So comfortable. It is going to see a lot of nights the rest of my pregnancy and for a while after that too so I had to make sure to get something I loved.

  15. LovelyPlum

@megz06: I'm so glad that you got some sleep! Sleep is the worst right now-my legs keep going numb.

In other news, we're having a blizzard right now. It's a little crazy!

  16. jhd

    coconut / 8079 posts

@megz06: yay! We love ours and glad you are loving yours so far too my next project is to make some simple covers for our throw pillows so that they will match the recliner

@LovelyPlum: eek! Hope you can stay safe & warm!

I am getting so tired these days! I fall asleep as soon as Dd does (around 7:30)! Poor DH has been picking up all the slack as I'm pretty much useless by the time he gets home.

  18. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@luckypenny: thanks! We're at home, and we haven't gone out all day. There have been tons of travel bans, so the streets are pretty much empty. It seems like it should be out of here by tomorrow morning.

I'm not super tired, but I will say, I'm having a hard time keeping my stamina up for as long as I used to be able to. It's messing with me a little bit!

  19. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@LovelyPlum: Sorry your legs are going numb! That was happening to me early in the 2nd trimester. It was more so my thighs. They haven't been tingling/numb anymore. Now its moved to full on pain. The chair has really helped that. It doesn't help, however, that the weather has been too junky and cold to take a walk (especially since I sit pretty much all day at work).

@jhd: I wish I was crafty like that! Sounds like a cute idea though.

@luckypenny: I am feeling tired as well, but I can't nap at night. I just sit there like a zombie and stare at a spot on the wall. Lol last night I got up to go bathroom, and I ALWAYS put my hands out in front of me, and last night I *think* I fell asleep while walking and I ran into the dresser. I ended up opening my eyes (that's why I think I was sleeping. Plus I don't really remember getting up but do remember having to pee) and walked fine the rest of the way.

hi ladies! my sister sent out the baby shower invite on sunday evening and i've since been working on my registries (since the invite has the links on them...crap, better get a move on). it was a bit overwhelming at first but a few mommy friends have suggested the book "baby bargains" and apparently it is immensely helpful when navigating through baby products and building the registry. i just ordered the book off amazon for about $4. has anyone else read it yet? if so, what were your thoughts?

we went to a baby store yesterday and tried out some strollers and car seats. my sister gifted us the bob revolution jogging stroller because it was on sale yesterday on amazon for 40% off (if there are any avid runners on this board, it might still be on sale so check it out!). however we still needed to look for an everyday stroller and after a couple of hours trying everything out, finally decided on some of the bigger items like stroller, car seat, etc. whew. now, for the smaller stuff / nursery items... oh vey!

how is everyone else's registries coming along? it makes me think about the finer details like: how many swaddlemes, sleep sacks and plain sleepers will i need for the new born phase? how often will i do laundry? we are trying to get by with the bare minimum and not overload on things!

  21. jhd

    coconut / 8079 posts

@SupernovaJ: how exciting! our registries are started, but by no means finished. we bought a city mini stroller from amazon black friday weekend when it was 30% off. but other than that i haven't made any decisions on big gear besides deciding i want a rock n play sleeper and putting that on the registry. so much work to be done! hoping to work on that some this weekend.

@SupernovaJ: My friend sent me Baby Bargains after I told her I was pregnant and I pretty much built my registry from that book, her recommendations, and the Lucie's List checklist. I found the book really helpful but there is A LOT of info in there.

  23. SupernovaJ

    persimmon / 1141 posts

@gilmoregirl: that's awesome. i'm going to check out lucie's list also, i've been meaning to. thanks!

  24. megz06

    apricot / 335 posts

@SupernovaJ: I didn't have that book, but it sounds like it came in handy for some! I actually posted on Wedding Bee and asked how many of each I would need of swaddles and things like that. Then when we did our birthing class I got a Parenting magazine with registry guidelines that I used, and all the info was spot on! I completed our registries last weekend, and it is a chore. We ended up buying the crib because, like your stroller situation, it was on sale, and we couldn't pass it up.

My baby shower invites will go out by beginning of next week, and the shower is February 22. When is your shower?

dh felt baby girl kick for the first time tonight!!!!! it was the first time I felt her kicking on my hand so I made him come over immediately and he felt it too

ETA: I think it actually might have been hiccups, not kicks, since it seemed like my stomach was moving almost rhythmically....either way, so cool!

Hi Ladies!! I've been totally MIA these past few weeks... working in retail during the holidays sucks. Now that the holidays are over, I of course have the worst cold ever. Yaaaaay

How are the nurseries coming along?? My dad gave us the crib for Christmas and I found a nice Potterybarn changing table on craigslist the other day!

@SupernovaJ: I *think* our registries are done... maybe. I didn't really get too specific with quantities though... should probably look into that again.

@megz06: My shower is Feb. 8th! I feel like time is flying by now and it's freaking me out!

    Where did you all register?

  29. nana87

@jhd: I hope he feels baby soon!! I'd been getting impatient too lately!

So exciting to feel the baby move right? It's still surreal and a little weird to see the baby move from outside of the belly as she kicks and shifts. Sometimes she moves in waves and I get a little freaked out because the sensations are so odd.

My shower is on Feb 15th and we are registered at BuyBuyBaby and Amazon.

Regarding the nursery, we have yet to do anything. I have a feeling I'll be last minute about it (like with most things, haha). We probably won't get cracking on it until after the shower when some of the items have been purchased and we see what's missing.

  31. luckypenny

    grapefruit / 4582 posts

@nana87: awww! Isn't it the best?! Even though this is my second DH still loves/is so intrigued by the baby kicking

@jill_a55: I haven't done a thing for this baby I haven't made any changes to the room and haven't bought them a single thing. I feel terrible about it but maybe now that the holidays are over I can put aside some time to focus on this new little one

@SupernovaJ: after the shower was when we did everything for DD. it is so helpful to see everything you have and what seems missing all at once.

  32. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@SupernovaJ: I have a decent start on my registry, but I don't have all the.details.down yet. My mom just recently convinced.me to have a shower, so now.I need to get on it!

@megz06: mine isn't.scheduled yet, but it may very well be that weekend. So soon!!!

@gilmoregirl: I also used the registry guides from Babylist, which is a hopelessly addicting site.

@nana87: so fun! DH felt it for the first time the day before Christmas, and we were able to see baby move from the outside yesterday. Baby was squirming all over the place!

@jill_a55: congrats on making it through the holidays! I'm sorry you are.sick, though. We have nothing but a mobile for the nursery nook, so we need to get on that. And we are registered mainly on Babylist, but I put our bigger items on a BBB registry so we can get a completion discount when we get what is left

@luckypenny: this is good to hear. I really think we will do most things all at once, but hopefully we can at least paint soon. If not, though, and it does not get done, I guess baby wont know the difference!

My ILs are in town this week, so I can get to work on figuring more things out hopefully next week!

  33. megz06

@jill_a55: Sweet! We are registered at Target and Amazon. We don't have the option of a Babies r Us and all these other great stores. They are just too far away, so if I needed to return anything, I'd have to drive 4 hours.

@nana87: Awesome! And how cool that DH finally felt baby.

  34. jhd

    coconut / 8079 posts

@jill_a55: i hope you feel better soon! get some rest!!

we have started our registries at target and walmart. we live in a smallish town and DH's family lives several hours away in a very remote area. their only store is walmart! and they aren't much into online shopping or registries, but i at least want to have something available. i'm hoping we can finish up the target one this weekend.

our registries are at Giggle (small chain with several locations in NYC, where we are, and one in DC, where my in-laws and some close friends are), Pottery Barn Kids, and a few things on Amazon. I had been thinking of Buy Buy Baby instead of Giggle, since it has a wider selection, but that place was wayyyyy overwhelming to me! The consultants at Giggle were super helpful when I registered.

  36. jill_a55

    apricot / 448 posts

@LovelyPlum: @jhd: thanks! I'm trying... I've had this cold for a full week now and I am so over being sick!

@nana87: I'm so jealous that you have giggle!! We used to have it here in Arizona and it was like the only cute upscale baby boutique in the area and it closed down! Of course I wasn't pregnant then, or I would have taken advantage! Love that store!

  37. luckypenny

    grapefruit / 4582 posts

    @nana87: I love Giggle!

Just talked to my friend tonight - she's throwing me a small sprinkle with MIL. Just my mommy friends and their families and a few other friends/family. She also suggested just telling people to get me amazon/babygap gift cards which I think is great. I definitely do not want to be opening presents or making a big deal of things. But since we are team green it will be nice to have a few gift cards to go out and get cute outfits for baby if they should turn out to be a boy

I have my glucose test today. I also get to see one of my favorite OBs (and the one I hope will do my section!).

I think I start biweekly appointments after this, and after 32 weeks, I get an us at each one (I think! That's what the plan was in the beginning, anyways.)

  39. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@nana87: ooh, I love Giggle! We have a few Giggle items on our Babylist registry.

@jhd: Yeah, I'm not too sure about how to handle the non-online shoppers. We only have one actual store registry (BBB), but our Babylist has lots of things from all over the place. I figure, most people will just order online, but neither of my grandmas are tech savvy. So, I don't really know what to do.

@luckypenny: that is so much fun! I'm excited for your sprinkle. Now that my mom has convinced me to have a shower, I'm pretty excited, actually. Maybe it will be more fun than I thought!

@Dandelion: good luck! Are you doing the one hour or the 3 hour? I hope that you pass!! Isn't it crazy to think that we're on to biweekly appointments already??

In other news, I was a rebel without a cause yesterday and totally indulged when we went out for sushi. It was delish, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself

  40. Dandelion

@LovelyPlum: One hour...I'm hoping I'll fail. Sounds weird, but I "passed" it with both my previous ones, and I had bad outcomes twice because of a misdiagnosis. I'd rather have it and have everyone be more wary.
