@LovelyPlum: I dont think I get results. I dont really know what the bloodwork was for, actually. I know I needed the shot bc I'm A- and he's O+ and so there is a 50ish % chance that Baby is positive, which isn't compatible with my blood.// And you have pleeeenty of time for Baby to somersault. S/he's just checkin' things out up high before settling in And to validate your feelings, I think its ok if you feel a little disappointed if you end up with a c/s, but you aren't there yet... so positive gymnastic-y somersault thoughts for you!

@LovelyPlum: awww I don't know about being a rock star--I find it easier to focus on research for my project than it would be to have to multitask with classes and dealing with students like you're doing! Also, there's lots of time for baby to flip still, though I'm sure it's scary now.

@LovelyPlum: I don't know how it'll effect dietary restrictions. I'll just have to wait until Wednesday and see how it pans out.

@LovelyPlum: Good luck with the apartment! I hope everything works out, and soon.
@Dandelion: That sounds really frustrating to deal with, but I am glad to hear you're being looked after. Hope you/your docs are able to figure it out quickly. Is it possible that it takes a day or two for the diet to really be effective? I'm very not-knowledgeable on this.
As for maternity/newborn pics, we are doing neither. I'm not intersted in maternity pics because I have no idea what I would DO with them. My husband takes a pic of me every week, and I'm sure someday I'll be glad to have them, but they're not to be used or shared anyway (my rule haha) and I think, for me, professional pics would go to waste.
I'd like to have family pics more than newborn pictures, but we are fortunate to have a number of photographer friends (my husband writes for a newspaper, and some of the staff photographers are truly amazing), so I'm thinking we'll probably just take advantage of the fact that we've got a few photo friends who LOVE babies

@LovelyPlum: Fingers crossed that baby flips! Fortunately, it's really common that they do My cousin's due in February and her baby was breech at Christmas (not sure if he still is now), and she was doing all kinds of things to help him turn -- chiropractor, spinning babies, something with the midwife. So I bet everything will work out!
@hazeleyes: It's so hard to not get worked up about this stuff, even if you logically know it's not your fault. Here's hoping everything is 100% fine and they're just checking things out to be extra cautious. I'm being watched for pre-e because of a few symptoms and it makes me so antsy, but I guess I'd rather they be extra careful than be blindsided by something. Hang in there.

@luckypenny: Those newborn pics are amazing. You and your baby are gorgeous, and there is nothing sexier than a man with a baby. DH thinks I'm weird for thinking that, but I told him I just find it so attractive; a good looking, tall, strong man with a baby? Yes, please!
@LovelyPlum: I am asking at my appt. Monday what position the baby is in because right now I have no clue. His kicks/hits whatever they are are all over the place. At one point I feel him kick my rib and then my lower abdomen, so I am unsure. They do still have quite a few weeks to turn, but its a sucky wait anyway.

@megz06: Thank you I swear since DH has become a dad he has just gotten better everyday - better looking, smarter, funnier, more confident ..... Fatherhood really suits some men an it totally is the sexiest thing ever

@LovelyPlum: Hopefully LO will flip!
The anesthesia that's used for c sections may not make you sick. It's more of a spinal block and doesn't go into your blood stream. It's totally numbing (and weird), so I wouldn't worry about that.
I know LO is down because he gets hiccups daily and I feel them right in my pelvis.
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@Dandelion: I got my first set of hiccups last night! Haha and DH and I had just talked about how weird it was I didn't feel them yet because DD seemed to have the hiccups every hour

@LovelyPlum: I hope that baby does a somersault!!! Don't feel bad though about disappointment with a C-section. surgery has its risks and is a very scary thing. Even a miracle at the end of the light can't always weigh out the scariness of it. I may have to have a c-section because of preeclampsia and it scares me to death. Between actually having surgery and then the epidural I don't know if I can handle it. I much prefer facing natural childbirth! lol.
@Dandelion: Im sorry diet isn't working for the GD. It took a little bit for my sugars to even out- maybe its the progesterone shots or have you gotten any steroids? I had steroid injections a week and a half ago and it made my sugars more consistently high. They just started evening out this week.
With newborn/maternity pics i'm kind of stumped right now. My husband and I really wanted maternity pictures because this is our first born and thought it would be nice to have formal pictures done in pittsburgh before we move. But now being stuck in the hospital- my husband really doesn't want to have them now. I can't say I blame him, its a very stressful time. We both really want to do newborn pics but again I have no idea when she is going to be born and if she'll be in NICU so I'm not sure how to go about it. ugh!

@luckypenny: aww thats fun! the other day the RN was doing fetal heart tones and we could here Emma hiccuping in there between heart beats. It was perhaps one of the coolest things I have ever heard!

@HazelEyes: @nana87: @gilmoregirl: @megz06: @Dandelion: @MrsSpadusa: thanks ladies. I know that there's still time, and there's nothing I can really do anyways, so I just need to think positive. I don't know if baby is flipping or not, but I will say, most of the kicks I've been feeling the last 48 hours are about 4 inches to the right of my belly button, so that's not a bad thing. Little one sure is super wiggly these days!
@MrsSpadusa: that is so cute! I am not sure if I've felt baby hiccup or not yet. How are you feeling? How is she doing? I'm sorry you're stuck in hospital. As far as newborn pics go, you might be able to send out some feelers to photographers and explain your situation. Even if she is in the NICU, you may find someone who is either a) willing to come to the hospital, if she's healthy enough, or b) willing to do pics as soon as she's out. I know there was a clause in the photographer that we're looking at about NICU stays. They may be more accommodating than you think!
I'm pretty sure that the crazy lady hormone swings are here in full force. Poor DH-I've lost it twice in the past week-big crocodile tears, ugly cry lost it, over pretty much nothing. The good news is I feel better after a good cry. But man, they are tiring!
I hope you ladies are all having a good weekend!
apricot / 335 posts
@LovelyPlum: Aww I'm sorry about the ugly hormones! We got the crib set up this weekend, and I only managed to cry 3 times during the process, lol. So my hormones are doing ok right now.
We got another storm this weekend. Not any snow worth reporting, but it rained and we had wind that brought chills down below -30, so every parking lot, street, and driveway is a dang ice skating rink again. Had to reschedule my OB appt to Wednesday because my Dr can't even get out of her house (they live in the country). It's been such a cold, harsh winter.

Had my 30 week appointment today:
Baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead. If I get on insulin, then I have to go in twice a week for non-stress tests, which is where they hook me up to a fetal monitor and heart rate monitor, to make sure baby and I are handling pregnancy well.
They're starting the paperwork this week to schedule my c section at 39 weeks. Since I'll be 39 weeks on Sunday, it'll probably be the Friday before, on the 28th...but I'll know for sure after they do the official schedule.
I also will have an ultrasound around 34 weeks.

@megz06: yay for getting the crib set up! and that's horrible you have all that ice. be careful out there!
@Dandelion: so exciting you will have a date picked out soon! i hope they get everything worked out for you to get the best possible care, but without too many tests etc. all those doctor visits must be wearing you out!
@LovelyPlum: i hear you on the crazy lady hormones! the only thing that helped me survive last week was the fact that school only met two days out of five. i'm not sure how my crazy emotions will handle a full week this week! and sending lots of turning, flipping vibes to your little one!!
hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! individual days sometimes seem long because i am so tired, but man these weeks are flying by. can't believe our babies will be here soon!

@MrsSpadusa: how are you doing? thinking of you and hoping things are going well.

Hey! So out of the hospital for the time being! They let me go Friday night be cause my liver enzymes were almost normal and my pain pretty much gone. It's been so nice to be home! Trying to take it easy which is difficult because I'm in overdrive trying to get the house and nursery ready for the baby, lol. I have an NST and OB apt tomorrow AM with labs so we will find out how everything is going. The OB's seem to think ill end up back in the hospital at some point:( but my goal is to stay out as long as I can!
@Dandelion: the NST's aren't so bad- just annoying if they see anything they don't like because they will keep you monitored for an hour or longer. But it's fun listening to babys heartbeat:) hopefully they don't have to put you on insulin-I couldn't imagine having to do that. Pricking my finger 4x's per day is anxiety inducing enough! Good luck though!
@jhd: thank you!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@megz06: glad you only cried three times...there are days where that is good for me And I agree, this winter is brutal. Stay safe on all of that ice!
@Dandelion: I'm glad that you're going to have a date soon! When will you know about the insulin? Also, I just realized what nonstress tests are. It would be a huge pain to have to go in twice a week, but how fun to see little one's heartbeat and activity so often!
@jhd: you are totally right. I am exhausted most days, but how on earth am I going to be 30 weeks already?! It makes me a little sad sometimes, because I don't want this pregnancy to be over yet. On the other hand, things are getting uncomfortable! And thanks
@MrsSpadusa: I'm so glad that you got to go home! Stay cooking, baby girl. Let mama rest and get ready for you! Good luck tomorrow. Let us know how it goes!
It's bitter cold here, too. I can't believe what a winter this has been. But it's crazy to think that when SPRING gets here, our babies will be on their way, too!

@LovelyPlum: Well, I'm supposed to have another appointment tomorrow morning at the diabetes clinic, but it's supposed to snow tonight, and the south doesn't like snow, so I'm gonna bet it's going to be rescheduled.
@MrsSpadusa: Yeah, I don't mind NSTs...I'll just keep my phone charged and a magazine handy during that time. I'm glad for them, really...S apparently wasn't handling being inside me well and I never knew...I'm grateful for this that they can keep checking on him (and me) and make sure we're still ok together.
persimmon / 1141 posts
@Dandelion: Aww hang in there! As an adult I had a very late onset of Type 1 pre-diabetes before conceiving, so they have been treating me as a gestational diabetes patient pretty much since day 1. I've been on a very low dose of insulin 2x daily since 22 weeks or so - it's not so bad! the baby is measuring in the 50th percentile, so very normal. i'm now 30 weeks. i imagine she'd be much bigger if my blood sugars weren't controlled. the insulin injections aren't bothersome at all, if anything i despise the 4x finger pricks daily. i'm also scheduled to go in for regular NSTs and BPP testing every week or so. yes, the appointments are time consuming and i always feel bad for missing so much work, but the close monitoring is really a blessing. the upside to this is that i've had an ultrasound 1x a month, now every two weeks or more. it's always reassuring to see that the baby is healthy and doing well in there. if you do go on insulin, it can only help you and the baby - cheering you on!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@SupernovaJ: I don't really mind it...plus, all the extra appointments make the time go by way faster! only 8 more weeks of this anyways.
persimmon / 1141 posts
@Dandelion: totally. and you get to see that cute lil baby of yours more often, i'm thinking. the next few weeks are going to fly by, can't wait until you have that sweet baby in your arms.

I updated in appointments, but I passed my glucose test. I had failed one of the three draws, but they still considered that passing. I forgot to mention I have keynotes (sp? right word?) in my urine, which basically means I need to drink more water, so I will be chugga luggin' for the next few months.
We bought two items off our own registry last night, lol. We bought our bottle warmer and a Fisher Price Piano Play Gym, which was the only toy we registered for. Both were about 50+ bucks marked down to 29 and 39 bucks, so we had to take those deals. I also did some more decorating on the nursery last night and will hopefully be able to share pics in a few weeks (I change my mind all the time with that darn room).

Thanks to last night's flurries, my diabetes appointment that was supposed to be today was rescheduled for next week. They did have me fax in my numbers, though. Their eyes must have bugged out when they saw my numbers, lol.

@megz06: so glad you passed! and yay for nursery progress
@Dandelion: hope everything is going ok! I'm sure it is a pain to have to wait all the way til next week! (Or maybe I'm just super impatient)
watermelon / 14206 posts
@jhd: Yeah, I'm impatient, too! I'm not thrilled about having to wait!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@Dandelion: the fact that you only have 8 more weeks is mind-boggling to me. I'm sorry your appointment got cancelled, though. What a pain. So, you'll know more about the insulin then?
@megz06: I'm glad you passed! I saw your update in the appointments thread, but I don't remember if I commented or not. And that's really fun about your room and registry. I can't believe how REAL it's all feeling!
Two updates from me:
1. My brain is totally shot, I feel like. This is not good, because our semester started on Monday. But pregnancy brain is striking already!!
2. We picked our stroller for real last night. I have been itching to have DH come look at them with me, but for whatever reason, he was reluctant. Too many choices, I think. I need his input, though, because he's 10 inches taller than me and has a much wider stride. Well, after we finally get to the store, he actually decided he had opinions on what he liked and didn't like-HALLELUJAH! We ended up throwing three months' worth of my research out the window in about 5 seconds and decided on a new stroller-the City Elite! No more Cruz or Bob, but that's OK. He likes it, and so do I. I'm thrilled we have a real decision made!
I may or may not have been "that crazy lady" while we were there, though. I wanted to look at a bunch of different things-not only the Cruz but also some jogging strollers. Well of course the Bumbleride Indie is on the top shelf of BBB, and the Joovy was on the first shelf. I wanted to see them both, so I asked them to get them down. After we did, she starts telling me how everything I'm looking at has different functions, etc, like I'm totally clueless. Thanks, but I have done some research. Then she starts going on about how I should just get a Snap n Go and decide later about strollers, because they are so convenient. So I tell her, very nicely, I thought, that I very much dislike the idea of lugging infant seats everywhere, and we will not be using a travel system. So she says, but it's very convenient, you should do it. Again I say, I understand, but I hate infant seats, and I am not lugging it everywhere unless absolutely necessary. She still didn't like my answer, but fortunately, DH stepped in at that point. He made a joke about my strong opinions about infant seats, and she walked away. Fortunately, the next sales person that came over was really nice and understanding and just let us do our thing.
I'm sure she thought I was crazy, and I know that she was only trying to help. I felt bad as we were leaving the store, because I hate to seem pushy. But please don't push gear on me-I need to figure out what I want for myself!! DH is funny about the whole thing-he refers to the big baby stores as the "baby-industrial complex" and doesn't buy into all the retail hype. So he was more than willing to stick up for us to make our own decision.
Sigh. This is why I do most of my registering online!
watermelon / 14206 posts
@LovelyPlum: Yeah, I won't know about insulin until my appointment. I can't believe it's only 8 weeks away, too...still seems like forever, but really, it's flying!

@LovelyPlum: oh my goodness, that saleslady would have driven me crazy! don't feel bad, it sounds like it was all on her (also, super unprofessional of her to walk away...)--they should be there to answer questions that you have rather than pushing you towards something that you clearly have decided against. grrr, that's one of my pet peeves: people telling me there's something I SHOULD do, I get all defensive with that, like, I can decide for myself, thank you very much! Honestly though, the sales people at the 2 BBBs we went to (in different states) were one of the main reasons we didn't register there. I felt like they were annoyed by my questions, straight up ignored us because we had done our own research, or told us the absolute wrong info at some points. Not ideal.

@LovelyPlum: eek how exciting. strollers were my favorite part, but definitely overwhelming. i ended up reading Baby Bargains from front to cover and whittled away so many things on my registries that i'm wondering if i went overboard with cutting things out. haha. but we are slowly starting to acquire stuff in the house and it's already overwhelming me. i think getting the crib and setting that up this week really made things feel real...
my belly is SO itchy these days. but it's been itchy for weeks now i just think my patience is starting to run out. back is also killing me and i'm starting to feel that shortness of breath from weight on the diaphragm. i think i popped at 30 weeks and now i'm just cranky preggo woman. hopefully i won't feel this way for the next 10 weeks. trying to feel grateful for everything, sorry for the venting!!

I had my 29 week appointment this morning and baby is measuring at about 27 1/2 but the doctor said that it was still normal. I passed my glucose test with flying colors, but she said my hemoglobin was super low...like take 4 flinstone vitamins a day low. I knew I was anemic but apparently my little girl is literally sucking the life out of me lol. Her heartbeat was great and she is head down and ready to go! I go back in two weeks on February 13!

@LovelyPlum: That lady would have bugged me too. You know what else is convenient? Not having to lug an infant seat anywhere. Also, you can just put the baby in the stroller...very convenient!
We're not doing the infant seat thing, either. Just a convertible, a stroller and a bunch of carriers. Plus, my arms.

Man, I'm exhausted. I took 2 (!!) naps yesterday. Feeling like a pretty crummy mom letting DD watch so much TV but MIL is out of town this week so I haven't had any breaks and I just can't keep up physically anymore.
I bought the new baby their coming home outfit and a mobile this weekend I also made a weekly "to do" list so I can start preparing for baby. I can't believe I'm 31 weeks tomorrow! There is so much I want to get done for the move before baby comes on too of just getting organized with baby stuff and only like 60 days until my due date. Time needs to slow down!!

@SupernovaJ: I'm definitely impatient at times lately...especially when the nausea decides to show up! Hang in there it will all be worth it...but glad we have other ladies to commiserate with!
@Dandelion: do you have a fave carrier? So far we have a city mini stroller and a convertible seat. My mom thinks we need an infant seat...I just don't know that I want to deal with one!

@jhd: I like mei teis and mobys the best. I've been looking all over online for a good used one cause they're pretty expensive. I'd really like an ergo but I can't justify the cost to DH.
LO has a Spiderman coming home outfit. DS picked it out lol. He's getting a Spiderman shirt to wear with him.
