@jhd: Have fun! Birthing class is truly a great experience as long as you go in with an open mind. I really learned a lot of, well, everything!

@preggomeggo82: I have no good advice about your dog, but I can understand your concern! I have a medium sized mutt I adopted from the pound. He just turned 7 and is very much my baby. I'm not sure that he has been much different so far with my pregnancy. We bought a house in October so he has his first yard. Any weirdness for him has probably been more in getting settled in his new place.

Meeting with the LC & tour of pediatrician's office was fantastic! She was amazing, gave so much information, and basically just put my mind at ease about so many things.

Ladies, I am done, lol. This morning I decided that I am done being pregnant. I am now counting down the weeks. I went to the chiropractor yesterday after extreme hip pain, and I had a pretty sore and sleepless night. I am hoping it gets better, but I don't foresee that happening. Then I go to put my shoes on...and I can't. It isn't even because I'm too big. It's because this kid has his head perched so perfectly under my right rib that I can't lean forward (and if I try it feels like he's going to break my rib in half). I can sit or stand straight or slightly hunched, but there is no give to go any farther. DH had to put my shoes on and tie them for me.
Sorry for my whiny post. It isn't the end of the world, but even though I'm not ready for this baby in the sense that if he came today I'd have no place to put him, I am ready to not be so physically uncomfortable and incapable of putting on shoes.
I will be graduating to slip ons effective tomorrow.

@megz06: hugs! i hope you can find some comfy cute slip on shoes. and i'm sorry you're having so much discomfort.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@megz06: I hear ya...I'm over it, too. 7 weeks left for me, and I'm thrilled that the end is in sight! I've been in slip ons and flip flops for weeks, now, because all my other shoes are just too uncomfortable to deal with.

singing to the choir! i'm also over it even though the baby needs to bake a little more in the oven. whenever i get up off the couch or bed (which is 24/7 to pee), i feel like my back is snapping off. it's the worst feeling.. and sleep is just awful these days...
we're really almost at the finish line though!!

@jhd: Thanks. I hope so too
@Dandelion: They are uncomfortable...do your feet swell by the end of the day? Mine haven't swollen up (maybe every once in a great while depending on how much walking I do). Every night I immediately get out of my shoes, put on some slipper socks, and hoist my feet up.
@SupernovaJ: You're right. We are almost there! I keep telling DH, "9 weeks now...you have concerts scheduled farther out than that!" Makes it more realistic for him too although I think inside he's slightly panicking. Spring is his busiest time with concerts and choir festivals for his students, and he is having to modify a lot of them to be done without him possibly.
watermelon / 14206 posts
@megz06: Mine did one day, but so far, I haven't had much swelling. I can still wear my wedding ring. I think I had it off by this time last pregnancy.

@megz06: haha preach sister! I'm just so tired and really starting to feel big and short of breath. I just keep telling myself, " 8 more weeks, 8 more weeks..." I hope you find some comfy cute slip on shoes to make you feel better - you deserve it

I'm so far behind on this thread-I don't know how that happened!!
@preggomeggo82: did you end up calling the vet? I will say that my dog has been uber clingy during my entire pregnancy, but lately, she has taken to sleeping on the floor or in the living room. I attribute this to the fact that I toss and turn all night, and I think I make her uncomfortable I hope that he's OK!
@Dandelion: I'm glad that you're feeling better! I have a cold that just won't quit, but it seems to at least be getting less annoying. Being pregnant in the winter is rough!
@jhd: I'm so glad that your class went well! Our first one is Wednesday. I'm both excited and nervous about it. But it means that the time is coming soon-eek!
@megz06: I don't know that I'm done, but I feel your pain! This past week has been really uncomfortable, from bending over to putting on socks to trying to drive. Baby just wants to wedge him/herself in uncomfy places. I second the idea of slip-ons and hope that you feel better soon!
@Dandelion: @SupernovaJ: @luckypenny: guess it means we're really getting close if we're all feeling kinda over it, huh?

So our class today was super disappointing. Maybe it was just because I have read a lot & learned so much from HB! I felt like I didn't learn much and we only talked about breathing and relaxation for like 15 min.
coconut / 8079 posts
They gave us this book and talked about stages of labor, what to bring to the hospital, etc. and watched video clips. I guess I probably did learn stuff but the fact that the instructor just went through the book made me feel frustrated. I could have read it at home in my pjs and been much more comfy!
coconut / 8079 posts
@Dandelion: it was only $20. @LovelyPlum: I know. Boo is right! But our class the other day was excellent so it's ok I guess!
I'm just completely worn out after our first full week of work so it's hard not to feel discouraged. We were there 9-3 and I have lots to do to get ready for another busy week. I have parent teacher conferences on Thursday. Oh well.

@jhd: aww man. Sorry it was a bummer. I always tend to think those things come off as repetitive and commin sense, especially for mamas like us that are already taking an interest in their pregnancy/fetal development/newborn care (like joining Hellobee!).
apricot / 355 posts
@LovelyPlum: I haven't called yet. I'm giving it another couple days to see if he settles down. He seems to be ok now.
@jhd that's such a bummer about your class! We've been going to 3-hour sessions for the last 6 weeks. Sounds like there are pros and cons to longer classes and knocking it out in one.

I'm 32 weeks today! This is a landmark for me since DS arrived on exactly 32 weeks. LO is hanging tight though. I do have a feeling he'll be coming before the 39 week scheduled oust, but of course I could be wrong.
Anyone leaking? I woke up this morning with 2 wet spots on my shirt! Hasn't happened during the day though. My dietician says that pregnancy hormones are most active at night. I never leaked this much with either of the other two pregnancies.
Tomorrow I learn my official scheduled date. 7 weeks left!
coconut / 8079 posts
@Dandelion: how exciting you will have a date!!!
@preggomeggo82: hope your pup continues to do ok! yeah i just couldn't commit to evening classes, but maybe they would have been better.
@luckypenny: yes common sense like don't drink mountain dew and you should pick a pediatrician i'm exaggerating i guess, but it was just frustrating to spend so many hours there and feel like i didn't learn much. i guess it just goes to show how much i have learned from all you HB ladies!

@jhd: fair enough. Do you have any more classes? We were supposed to go for 5 weeks, one night a week, but I emailed them today to ask to switch us to a one day class. I think that's all I really want and need at this point. I figure, the rest I'll figure out on my own (or via HB ) Also, those are awesome stickers! These are the times that I (almost) wish we weren't TG, so I could get some cool stuff in advance!
@Dandelion: YAY! Congrats on making it to 32, and on almost having an exit date. I hope baby boy stays cooking the exactly right amount of time, and not a second too long. He's almost here! And yes, I'm leaking colostrum, but not a lot of it. It's mostly in the shower.
@preggomeggo82: that's good! Our dog has been making me insane, but I suspect that's because she has a major case of cabin fever. Also, she hates moving, and I think she can feel the impending chaos. Sorry, little girl, your world's about to get rocked, between the new move and the new baby. But I think she'll like all of the changes when they finally get here!
So baby wasn't moving very much this morning, and I'm very proud of myself that I didn't freak! I called the on call OB, which was a woman that I really like, and drank juice/laid on my left side while I waited for her to call me back. In the interim, baby started moving, which was a huge relief. I'm glad that I'm going in tomorrow, though. I've just been off all day. Maybe I am ready to be done

@LovelyPlum: I signed up for an infant CPR / first aid class & a breastfeeding class. After meeting the awesome LC the other night, I'm going to call her back and ask her opinion on the BF class. I hope your appt goes well tomorrow. And good for you for staying calm earlier!!

@jhd: I'm so sorry you didn't get a very good experience out of your birthing class. That really stinks. On a positive note, the month stickers are super cute!
@LovelyPlum: Scary! I'm glad everything went ok.
I had a FANTASTIC weekend. DH was so excited to finish decorating the nursery, so on Saturday we put up some more stuff. I consider it completely decorated, but DH then said, "I think this wall needs another Dr. Seuss character. See what you can find." Lol. Cab't wait to share pics!
Then mom came over and said she wanted me to help her purchase some stuff of our registry. They bought us the pack 'n play. As if that wasn't enough, she also wanted to make sure we got our wipe and glow warmer, lol. THEN she asks if we have a swing. I told her we took it off because the Snugapuppy Rock N Play Sleeper thing, which is what we initially had on there, was too expensive, and if we absolutely need one we will get it later. She told me she'd really like to get us that swing because SHE would like it for when she watches the baby (she is grandma-sitting daily...can't call it daycaring, lol) so I tried talking her into the cheaper 50-ish dollar one, and she wouldn't have it. We had to get the one with the musical, spinning mobile. Plus she also got a pack of 216 count diapers since it was a diapers.com purchase and she got 20% off, lol. She and dad's generosity is amazing. I'm 25 years old, capable of purchasing stuff myself, but they just want to spoil their grandson already.
Most exciting though? Baby has been perched under my rib forever. On Sunday I was sitting on the couch, and all of a sudden I felt a big ball of pressure on the right side of my stomach right below my rib. I made a noise, but no one noticed. It felt like my rib was free floating, like nothing was there. Then I started feeling kicks or movement on the right side of my belly but lower. So I said, "I think the baby either turned or he at least moved out from under my rib." I was so excited. I was immediately able to bend over and reach my toes without wincing in pain.
I hope he turned, and I guess I will find out tomorrow at my appointment

I had my appointment today...
March 31 is my date! My section is at 9:30 am, so no waiting all day long...yay! I hate that it's a Monday, but we will go with it. I still have a feeling I won't make it that long, anyways.
I'm still measuring 2 weeks ahead. I have an ultrasound next week. They're gonna see how big he really is and determine when to start the NST's.
Today was my last appointment with the midwife. From now on it's OB's only because of my high risk status.
7 weeks left!

@megz06: sounds like a fantastic weekend! and i can't wait to see pics of your nursery. we haven't started decorating yet, but i'm anxious to get started. and yay for baby moving and making you feel more comfortable.
@Dandelion: yay for a date! i can't believe you only have 7 weeks left (or less!)
It's only been about two or three weeks that I've been feeling the baby move constantly throughout the day (darn anterior placenta!) but I still find it completely crazy when he makes big movements while I'm walking around at school. And he did a big kick or something last night at bedtime and startled DH. I just wonder what in the world he is doing in there? Soccer practice? Tae kwon do?

oh my goodness I'm so far behind!
for classes, so far we've taken infant cpr and one at the hospital that's required if you want to deliver in the birth center rather than the tradition l&d floor. we have a day-long childbirth prep class in 2 weeks, and then about a month later an infant care/breastfeeding class. the cpr class was SUPER useful, but I was really overwhelmed by the hospital/birth center class, mostly bc I hadn't done that much research on natural childbirth or what I wanted before--I thought it was going to go over options more, but it was really tailored to people who already knew they wanted to go naturally. In retrospect it was really helpful though, but only after I read this book that my sil gave me: http://www.amazon.com/The-Book-Birth-Erica-Lyon/dp/0452287685 I DEF recommend it!! I'm making dh and my mom read it too since they'll be in the delivery room with me. I almost wonder if I need to go to the daylong class now, but it's "required" to take a class if I want to use the birth center anyway, and it'll be helpful to hear some stuff in person, esp for dh who hasn't read as much. I'm REALLY hoping they go over some massage techniques and stuff since I'm leaning towards no epidural...
@megz06: that's so sweet of your parents! mine have been ridiculously generous too, my dad keeps saying he wants to buy all these different things off our registry if we don't get them at the shower. some of it is for his benefit--like he wants to get the travel crib if no one else buys it (which they prob won't since it's $$!) because it'll "live" at his apt except when we travel and he wants to babysit a lot but some of it is just beyond--like, my parents bought basically all our nursery furniture and he wants to get the glider we picked out too...I'm 30, we could def afford it ourselves but he isn't having that!
@Dandelion: hooray for having a date!! I can't believe how soon it is!!
@jhd: lol at tae kwon do
okay, I think I had more to write, but I need to go: I have a meeting with a dean at my university in about 30 mins to go over what the parental leave policies are for grad students since the online info isn't clear....eeek! wish me luck
apricot / 335 posts
@Dandelion: Wow! It must make it so surreal that you know the date (unless it happens sooner). Hope all goes well for you!
@nana87: Parents...they can be so wonderful, lol. Glad yours are like mine. Its overwhelming (like I almost feel bad honestly but I'm incredibly grateful). And hopefully you have a good experience at your birthing class. I really liked mine, and while I did get a lot of massaging techniques, we got to practice massage, and I was able to figure out how I liked it best. It was just nice to see all the different options for laboring (tub, chair, ball). I think a technique we will be using will be having DH stand behind me and squeeze my hips. He's done it a few times when my hips hurt, and it feels amazing.
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
@jhd: thanks! It did go well, in that the dean was very nice, but it's a little frustrating: my university has a policy for phd students if they have children at earlier stages of their program, but because I (purposefully because I thought it would be easier!!) waited until I was done with all the requirements except my dissertation, there isn't a real, set policy....lame! it'll work out, but it's definitely more complicated than it needs to be!
@megz06: that's great that your class went over so many options, and that you and dh are already trying them out for hip pain! I'm hoping my class will be like that, it says it covers "natural coping techniques," so that seems like it!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@nana87: I'm so glad it went well-or as well as it could have gone. Our university has almost no set policy, so I hear you on the over-complication. I just hope that you can get it all sorted relatively easily!
@Dandelion: hooray for a date! It is insane to me to think that the end of March is only 7 more weeks away. In my head, I'm prepared for a late April baby, but I'm not to the point of being prepared for a late March baby. I'm glad you have an end date in sight, though!
@jhd: I haven't been feeling them for forever, either, and it is pretty cool to feel baby kick! Now, I'm used to it, but they are getting stronger. I worry about feeling like a punching bag at the end!
I just got my invitation to my shower-my sister did SUCH a good job. It's way cute. For being relatively anti-shower, I'm finding that this is actually kinda fun
apricot / 355 posts
@jhd: I have an anterior placenta too, but I have a future field goal kicker in there, because the movement has been crazy lately! You can see my whole belly move, and the other night I had a straight-up FOOT show itself on my side. It's an awesome feeling, but sometimes a little disconcerting! That's not the exit, buddy!!!
apricot / 355 posts
@LovelyPlum: What do the shower invites look like? After getting mine, I am SO excited! One shower is a jungle animal theme and the other is a nursery rhyme (Hey diddle diddle, we're expecting someone little") theme. And there have been some adorably cryptic facebook status by the hostesses that are making me so excited to see what they have planned!

@preggomeggo82: lol that reminds me of a recent conversation with a coworker. she said it felt like her son was trying to claw his way out every night when she went to sleep. she said exactly what you did "that's not the way out!" Haha

@nana87: I'm glad the dean was nice & hope they get something worked out for you!
