@Dandelion: that is too sweet! They will look so cute in their matching Spider-Man gear. our baby already has a superman & a batman bib w/cape! Lol
Yes, the price tag on some of the wraps scares me. Of course I want something safe for baby BUT some stuff is just crazy expensive!

@Dandelion: I'm pretty sure we all just got our BFPs like, yesterday, so I agree, it is flying! // And we are going to do the infant seat, but I'm just not going to take it out of the car. We were going to go straight to the convertible, but we couldn't agree on which one we wanted. I liked the Peg Perego, but the doctor and the u/s tech both think LO is a lanky thing, and they are not great for tall babies. So we're just going to get the infant seat, leave it in the car, and switch to a convertible when baby is a bit older and we can try them out for ourselves. And I love the Spidey outfit!

@nana87: thanks for the affirmation. It's funny, because our BBB actually has a better reputation than Babies R Us, but this particular lady was just getting on my nerves. But we're done with store registering now, so that's exciting!

@SupernovaJ: I hear you on the suddenly feeling super pregnant! I don't know when it happened, but the last few days, the discomfort got a lot worse. Guess we're really pregnant now, huh? // Also, thanks for the support. I took a lot off of our registry as well, but I did leave a few things on that might be a little redundant. Eh, if we don't get them, I don't know that we'll buy them, but whatever.

@CharityAnne: congratulations on passing your GD test! I'm sorry that you're anemic now, though. I hope you can get it figured out and feel a bit better!

@luckypenny: congrats on finding a coming home outfit! We don't have one yet. What did you get?? And I'm sure you're totally crazed, what with a toddler, a huge cross-country move, and, oh, this little thing called third tri. I say, take naps when you can!

@jhd: obviously we haven't tried them yet, but I'm registered for a K'Tan and a Tula carrier. I'm excited to try them!

My congestion is finally starting to let up. I still have a bit of wheezing, especially at night, but I feel loads better.

My sugars are also looking better. I read online in a few places that being sick can make your sugars higher. So, we'll see how the next few days go. Maybe I'm not doomed to insulin, after all.

Well hello ladies! I posted looooooong ago (like 30 pages back) and am just now remembering to come back and check in.

I'm 29 weeks now. Due 4/20 with a boy! We had a "waddle it be" gender reveal party before Christmas. It's been going well so far - measuring on track, passed the glucose test, shower invites are out, feeling lots of kicks and hiccups. My hips are killing me and I sleep like crap, but otherwise I feel pretty good. Can't believe how fast it's going!

I've enjoyed catching up on everyone! Insomnia has some perks - like reading almost 60 pages of posts, ha!

I got the carseat today! It was our last important thing we needed to get for LO. I'm still want to get a new stroller, but that's something that's not totally necessary to bring LO home.

@LovelyPlum: We got this http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?cid=1002436&vid=1&pid=948133002 and I'm just going to put a pink/blue hat on for the picture when we leave. There are a few other gender neutral one pieces at babygap right now that I love too.

@Dandelion: Crossing my fingers you get to avoid insulin! and Hooray for the carseat! We're so close!!

@preggomeggo82: welcome back!! I updated the list for you

    Thanks!!

I think it would be so hard to be Team Green. I've been trying to keep things neutral, even knowing its a boy, but it's do hard to find stuff! It's kind ridiculous how absolutely everything from clothes to car seats is gendered.

@preggomeggo82: welcome back! and I hear you on how ridiculously gendered everything is. we're keeping everything as gray, yellow, and green as we can for our baby girl, but it's hard to avoid any pink and purple!

@Dandelion: yay for car seat and feeling better!

How is everyone today? Hope you ladies all had a great weekend!

I have had a rough time on Mondays ever since the holidays but today is going well so far!

Did you all do anything fun for Superbowl Sunday? DH was cheering for Seattle so he was a happy guy last night! I just wanted to be in my pjs so we didn't go anywhere even though we had an invite to a party. I baked a chocolate cake and worked on lesson plans and lunch prep for the week.

@preggomeggo82: Welcome back. You look fantastic!

My morning has been chaos, and my Saturday was too. FIL, who does ferrier work on the side, got kicked in the face by a horse, and even though he is a jerk I still cared whether he lived or died, so I was up in arms over his situation. His brain scans came back fine, but he has a broken nose and nasal plate. I guess his eye is swollen shut and his face was all bloodied and crazy disgusting.

I felt bad for him until DH texted his mom on Sunday and she said that instead of resting for a few weeks like the doctor said, FIL was waiting for a client to get there so he could shoe their horses. WTF?! I guess he even finished shoeing the horse that kicked him before going inside and waiting for MIL to come home and take him to the hospital.

So since he's a glutton for punishment I kind of don't feel bad for him anymore, especially since he's not listening to doctor's orders.

In better news my mom bought me two dress because she liked one and I liked the other, lol. She told me to wear the one I liked to the baby shower on the 22nd and the other I can wear to somewhere special (we have a wedding to go to in June, so I'm sure it may fit PP).

    @megz06: thanks!!!

@jhd: We did nothing at all this weekend. It was seriously the laziest couple of days ever, but I think we needed it. I thought the game yesterday was so anti-climactic!

  15. nana87

    cantaloupe / 6171 posts

@jhd: oooh yum chocolate cake!! we didn't do much for the Super Bowl. if we'd been home, we prob would have had a small party--we usually watch football with the same friends/neighbors each week and have a low key game night at the same time, but since we're in Boston we just hung out. dh's friend that we're living with while we're here is a big Patriots fan so he was all pissy about the game and barely watched with us. other than that though, we had a nice weekend. ran lots of errands on Saturday (including buying some baby clothes!) and did some touristy stuff yesterday.

@megz06: oh no, that sounds like a big scare with your fil! and so frustrating though that he's not heeding dr's orders. my fil is kind of like that--he's been very ill for the past few years (cancer complications) and does not make the best choices for his health (and then is grumpy and takes it out on everyone else when he feels crappy...oh and gets super snappy at mil when she tries to get him to listen to the drs....)--and it's so hard to be around.

@jhd: we had a GREAT weekend. Just spent a lot of time together as a family, booked our temporary rental in NYC for the big move and had dinner with E's godfather and uncle but I'm exhausted. and we don't watch any sports so no clue who even won the Super Bowl lol but you can definitely send me some of that chocolate cake!

I had to leave the gym early because of cramping and just being generally exhausted. MIL was gone all last week so I didn't have any help with DD. Luckily she is back and picking up DD tomorrow for the day. I fully intend on vegging out and sleeping. Also have a OB appt tomorrow afternoon so ill let y'all know how that goes.

@preggomeggo82: hi, welcome back! Glad to see you around. You look great! And aah, ANOTHER April mama having a boy. Craziness! And we are team green, and it is next to impossible to keep things ungendered, especially if you're not wild about yellow and green. But we're trying!

@Dandelion: yay, congrats! Did you figure out what stroller you wanted to get?

@jhd: we went to see my parents this weekend for a little impromptu TLC. I had such a crappy week last week that I seriously just needed my mama. So we went there, she made yummy food, and I vegged. We also got to IKEA and bought the crib (no mattress yet), the button rug (were you the one who showed it to me??), and some other little things. We only just got back home this morning. It was nice.

@megz06: Ugh, I'm sorry about FIL. How crazy that he doesn't just want to rest!

@luckypenny: I love it! We found our coming home outfit this weekend, too! I wasn't going to get it yet, but it was too darn cute not to get. We ended up getting this one: http://www.janieandjack.com/shop/dept_item.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524443474401&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374303719786&bmUID=1391489000810&prodview=ALTERNATE I don't know that I'll ever spend that much on a baby outfit again in my life, but hey-you're only born once, right?

So, three bits of news from me:

    1. We're officially moving! Got news that we got the apartment today. I'm both excited and terrified at how overwhelmed I know I am going to be. But it is a much better situation to bring baby home into, so it's worth it. I did have a conversation with this kid yesterday, though, that they have to stay put until at least after March 1!

    2. I think I've officially lost it. I had a doctor's appointment this afternoon, and my doctor had a resident with him. Well, the resident kept using the pronoun "he", and I was getting so upset, thinking that the surprise had been ruined. After my appointment, I went out to schedule my next one, and when the scheduler asked me how I was, I just burst into tears. GAH. I swear, the fact that they all don't think I'm insane is more a testament to their patience than me! I was assured by multiple people that they don't know, that the surprise wasn't ruined, and that I'm not crazy. I believe two out of the three things they said

    3. Carpal tunnel blows. That is all.

Anyways, hope you all are well.

: @preggomeggo82: welcome back! You look great and I'm glad all is going well with your pregnancy!
@LovelyPlum: that's so exciting to be moving! Although i can see it can be very stressful too:( I hope all goes well. Also I'm glad they reassured you that they didn't ruin the surprise. With all these pregnancy hormones it's so hard not to get emotional with things!
@megz06: yay for new dresses! I'm a clothes fanatic and love getting new outfits. It's been hard being hospitalized because I can't go shopping! Lol. And sorry about your FIL- hopefully his stubbornness doesn't make things worse:(

Ugh my weekend was spent in the ICU and being moved to the high risk antepartum floor again:( I feel great but my labs are going crazy and making the doctors worried that I'm going to get sick really fast. So they are keeping me here until delivery for sure this time unless my labs go to being completely normal:/ also found out yesterday that they are thinking of delivering me at 34 weeks if things don't worsen to much more. They dont thi k there will be enough benefit to the baby to outweigh the risks to me. ( makes me feel guilty and horrible!) So we will have our first "April" baby here at the end of this month! Eek! I am scared to death! Has any one here dealt with being a NICU mom or know someone who has? Any pointers?

@MrsSpadusa: oh my gosh! I'm glad you're being monitored extra closely. I know doctors will do everything they can to keep you and baby healthy. I can't imagine how scary and stressful this must be for you! I don't know anything about the NICU but I'm sure there are lots of bees who are happy to help thinking of you guys

@MrsSpadusa: oh my gosh-that is so soon! I am glad that you are feeling OK, but how scary that your labs are going nuts. I don't have any NICU experience, but I know that Mr. Bee just recently made a NICU board. I'm sure if you made a thread on there, lots of bees would have great advice for you. And you're doing everything you can for Emma, lady. Be proud of what you've been able to do!

@MrsSpadusa: thinking of you and your baby girl. i just can't imagine what you are going through. you are doing great! do you have family and friends nearby who can visit you?

@LovelyPlum: i love that outfit you picked! and yay for moving to a better apartment. i'm glad you were able to see your family this weekend. moms just make everything better. and yes i did get the button rug from ikea. LOVE it! right now it's in baby's closet so my dog doesn't decide to make it his new nap spot.

@nana87: yay for baby clothes! i'm glad you are able to get out and enjoy some touristy things. i love exploring new places.

@preggomeggo82: i love lazy weekends! and yes, the game was not very exciting!

@megz06: i hope your FIL is doing ok. that's exciting you got some new dresses! i found a pair of maternity khakis at old navy last week. they don't carry maternity stuff in store but i guess someone returned them to the store so they were half price. i was beyond excited to have a different pair of pants to wear yesterday!

So after posting yesterday that I was having the best Monday in a while....I had a complete meltdown at 10pm last night. Like crying & inconsolable. We have had such a crazy schedule in the month of January with all the snow days etc. all I'm doing is re-teaching the same stuff over and over. I've exhausted all my creative ideas and have no more ideas on how to get kids to learn this stuff. I cannot think of new lesson ideas in the evenings anymore. My brain just doesn't function. So I need to prioritize my time better to get the hardest work of the day done earlier. Here's hoping I can get these units wrapped up this week and move on to some new topics!

  26. LovelyPlum

    eggplant / 11408 posts

@jhd: thanks! Getting my dog to not nap on baby's things is my new, never-ending battle. It is going to get MUCH worse when things like my nursing pillow show up

Also, I am so sorry for your meltdown. Did having a good cry help at all? Sometimes, when I am so tired and stressed, I need a good cry. Be gentle with yourself (easier said than done, I know!)-you're doing the best you can for your kiddos. And with all of the snow days, it's not just you-their whole routine is thrown off. I hope that you don't get any more snow this week so that you can have a fresh start on Monday!

  27. Dandelion

@MrsSpadusa: My first was born 8 weeks early. He had to level his blood sugars and learn how to suck (they don't learn that until 34 weeks). He spent 15 LONG days in the NICU, but now he is 6 and happy and healthy. 34 weeks is an even better week to have your baby...it might not even need NICU time.

@LovelyPlum: thank you. it's hard to deal with all these crazy emotions at times. a good cry really helped. and DH was great. it must be hard for him at times. one minute i was fine and the next i was a big mess!! school went well today and we don't have any more snow in the forecast. and i'm getting some extra help from co-workers with some of my extracurriculars so that helps.

i can't imagine how hard it will be to keep the pups off things like baby blankets and nursing pillows! ha!

  29. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

Well, they put me on insulin today. I take a fast acting one right before dinner and then a long lasting one right before bed. After dinner and my morning fast numbers seem to be my worst, so we're hoping to combat that.

The nurse was also concerned with my congestion and wheezing, so she told me to call my ob and ask if there is anything stronger than robitussin or delsym I can take. Apparently, not being able to sleep at night for not breathing is bad.

So, now that I'm insulin, I'll be starting twice a week NSTs. That, plus weekly diabetes appointments, progesterone shots until 36 weeks (only 5 more of those!) and my usual weekly appointment, I'm a full time patient!

I just have to keep counting down the weeks...only 7 left!

It's an exciting week for baby stuff. Tomorrow evening we're going to a class for new parents hosted by a local pediatrician's office. They have a full time lactation consultant on staff and she does this class to introduce you to the practice and talks about breastfeeding, etc. We live in a relatively small town so I believe this is the closest practice with an LC on staff. I've talked to her on the phone and she sounds so nice I'm excited to meet her. Then on Saturday we have a marathon birth class at the hospital. Sounds silly but I'm excited about both because it means it's getting closer to baby time!!

@MrsSpadusa: hi there, my first was born at 28 weeks and she was in the Nicu for 2 months so I know how scared you must be. She needed to learn how to breathe and eat and just needed to gain weight. My advice is to take it one day at a time. Also try and do kangaroo care (skin on skin bonding with baby). I was also told that girls do better than boys generally when they are premature. Not sure why.
I know it's tough and if you need anything, please don't hesitate to message me.
Most importantly remember to take care of yourself and let people help you as much as possible.
    Good luck mama!

@Dandelion: omg that sounds miserable. I also am dealing with a cough and congestion. I was thinking about calling my dr to see if I can take anything for it. Good to know that I can potentially take something since as you said not being able to breathe is painful! Hope you feel well soon!
I also hate getting the progesterone shots and am counting down the weeks!

  38. Dandelion

    watermelon / 14206 posts

I talked to the nurse from my ob abput the congestion. Robituasin dm was apparently the wrong thing to take. It had the cough suppressent, which wasn't allowing me to cough up the gunk in my chest. She said if anything, I should just take mucinex to get up the stuff.

So last night I didn't take anything. I had already been feeling better from the day. I slept great last night! But I still have a little ways to go before feeling 100%.

Here's a question for you guys. We have 2 dogs, one is 2 and one is almost 8, both small (as you can see in my profile pic). Anyway, the younger dog is oblivious to my pregnancy but the older one seems to know something is up. He's extra clingy during the day and evenings - follows me everywhere, wants to be in my lap or right next to me. However, at night he's been acting diffrently. They sleep in bed with us and normally he will be right in between DH and I and stay there until we have to wake him up in the morning. The last few nights he's jumped down and wants to sleep under the dresser by himself. Last night he even squeaked out the door and I found him on the couch downstairs at 2AM. Am I overreacting to want to call the vet? Dogs distancing themselves can be a bad sign, and this is very much my first baby.
