@LovelyPlum: Having moved semi-recently I can definitely feel your pain. DH did everything because I was still in the all-day exhausting nausea phase of the pregnancy. Our parents helped a lot and we couldn't have done it without help. I'm glad you have friends coming on Sat. I hope it all gets done quickly! Moving is so not fun, but it sounds like your new place will be great! We just picked out a little sleeper on sale at Kmart. We were there looking for other stuff but I couldn't resist the little puppy feet! http://www.kmart.com/small-wonders-newborn-boy-s-sleeper-pajamas-puppy/p-024VA70202212P?selectedFilters=Gender|Boys&prdNo=6&blockNo=6&blockType=G6
@nana87: What an exciting week! Hopefully you can rest up some in preparation & I'm sure people will be understanding if you need a little nap this weekend!
@megz06: I'm so so glad you got some better rest last night. I hope it continues. And how exciting your shower is this week too!
We are headed to an infant cpr class tonight. And I got everything worked out with the ped's office we chose. Apparently they encourage you not to choose a specific doc right away--which is perfect for me--I don't know about you ladies but sometimes I get overwhelmed by all the choices we have to make right now. I make DH pick when we go out to eat b/c it just seems too much to have to make one more decision!
And spring is when one of my extra-curriculars at school gets really busy but so far I'm staying on top of it and people are being extra helpful. I'm so very thankful for that!

@jhd: Baby Hiccups are crazy!! I was on break at work yesterday and he launched into them, which I loved except for the fact that he is all up in my ribs, so it was super uncomfortable.
Our weekend was good!! My DH has started nesting he painted the nursery and put up the shelves!! This Sunday my family is coming over to get things in place and finish painting stuff around the house, so I can't wait! All of our baby shower gifts are currently sitting at my mom's house, and I can't wait for sunday to come so I can get things organized and start washing clothes and things.
@megz06: Glad your PT went well and you finally got some decent rest!
@LovelyPlum: Bleh, moving is no fun! Hopefully the help this weekend will ease your mind with all the craziness!
@nana87: Have fun at your Shower!! We had a ton of people at mine, and I literally was opening gifts for an hour and a half... so I hear you on resting up ahead of time, it was freaking exhausting!! I'm pretty sure naps at this point are fully acceptable anyways!
@jhd: Why don't they want you to pick a doctor right away? I haven't really gotten into that yet, but I was planning on going with my Ped from when I was little. Using the Dr. that delivered me, might as well continue the trend, lol
Random nonsense from this week... A Stranger touched my belly the other day at work!! uuuugh I almost died.

@jill_a55: There are 8 doctors in the practice and I guess they want you to have a chance to meet a few before you commit to one? We chose this practice b/c they gave an awesome LC on staff full time,. She's the only one we have met so far. The other selling points were the fact that they are open Mon-Sat & they have a walk in clinic available nights & weekends.

@LovelyPlum: Moving is the WORST! (pregnant or not) It's all going to be so worth it though
@jhd: have fun at the infant CPR class! We had a really great instructor when I went for DD and he actually made it kind of fun. I really wish I had taken a refresher course when DD was about 6 months. I feel like thats the time when they really start moving, putting everything in their mouth, and eating solids. Maybe I'll do one soon again because my biggest fear is DD trying to feed the baby food! She loves feeding all of her stuffed animals and other baby friends...its a serious fear of mine lol
@jill_a55: I had my first stranger belly touching! It was a gay guy who was making my post workout smoothie lol I just laughed but it was WEIRD! and that is SO cute that your DH is nesting. It must feel good to get the nursery in place
@preggomeggo82: Hooray for nursery furniture! It looks so cute!

I've been so busy lately, with the snow days, and a million other things!
Today I had my 33 week ultrasound. Baby was a little rude, but we did see the boy parts again and he had a good heartbeat. Major thing is that he's breech/oblique, which means his head is under my left ribs and his bottom is pointed at my right hip. Just another reason to have a c section I suppose.
But, he's measuring RIGHT on track, which makes me SO very happy! He's measuring 4 lbs 15 oz, which is SMALLER than DS was when he was born at 32 weeks (6.5 lbs!) It's nice to have my GD under control with insulin, since it's keeping his measurements right on track. Such a difference this pregnancy is to both my previous ones!
My c section is still March 31 and the best part is that the Dr. that was on call last year for my loss is the one who will be doing the surgery. As the OB I saw today said, it's like it's coming full circle for me with this baby. I'm really happy about that. It gives me a happy feeling, for sure.
And, off topic, but we put in a bid for a home today! We have the closing set at March 21, which is cutting SO close to my c section, but our realtor put in a 10 day extension clause for in case this baby has a better idea. We still have until the end of May in our lease, so we're not going to actually move until long after the baby is born. It'll give us time to paint, put up a dog fence, and get a few things done in the new place before we move. I'm really hoping this house comes through for us!
All this happened today, lol. Saw the house, went to the ultrasound, and then put in the offer on the house, lol. I'm exhausted! Early bedtime for sure!

@jhd: How did infant cpr class go?
@Dandelion: Wow! You had quite the busy day! Hopefully you are well rested from it
Last night was DH's birthday, so I was overindulged on everything bad for me. I made him an Almond Joy cake, and it was so rick and delicious. Baby liked it too.
I had been asking my parents to find all their Dr. Seuss and other children's books. They told me they were unable to find them. I was so let down. Well, they gave a gift to DH last night--a box full of all the books! The found them yesterday and "lied" to me so it would be a surprise, lol. So I have a ton of Seuss books, Little Critter, Golden Books, and many more. I was reading them last night to DH, who wasn't read to much as a child, so he is in for an eye-opening experience because our son will be read to a LOT. He's looking forward to it.
And, as a side note, grubby half torn books are way better than brand new ones. These books have stories beyond the pages (sorry for the cheesiness), so they mean so much more

@megz06: That's cool. My mom has all our old books on a shelf in the bonus room of their house. It's the grandchildren playroom, now, and they love going up there and reading our old books and seeing our old toys.

@Dandelion: Wow! What an exciting, busy day! So glad baby boy and you are both doing so well. And I hope everything goes smoothly with the house.
@megz06: Infant CPR class went really well. There were only two other couples there and the nurse who taught the class was really friendly. We got to practice CPR and also what to do if baby chokes on some baby dolls. Not fun to think about but we were both so glad we went and hopefully will never have to use it!

@megz06: oh and you have inspired me to check out the books at my parents house sometime soon. i know mom got rid of a bunch of books (we had TONS) but she kept all of our favorites/sentimental ones. seriously cannot wait to read books with our baby boy! i have so many great memories of both parents reading to me/with me.

Trying to play catch up! So much going on with everyone - moving, buying homes, etc. Sometimes it feels like everything happens all at once huh? Crazy juggling everything with a baby on the way. Make sure to rest adequately ladies...
We had our baby shower last weekend and it was a truly unforgettable. I'm one of those people who dislike attention so I was a bit anxious but I just tried to take it all in and be grateful for everything and not feel like it was a burden on anyone. In the end I was overwhelmed by everyone's kindness, thoughtfulness and generosity. The next day, we got all the remaining items of the registry, did some returns / exchanges, and set up some furniture and opened our strollers, car seat, etc. It was a hectic and busy weekend. Now it REALLY seems like we're having a baby - I think baby showers might do that. I can't believe we all have 10 or less weeks to go.
For any mommies on this board, there are some things I feel like we have a lot of, but then I read boards like "Things you thought you had too many of, but in the end needed them all" and I realize with some things you need to stock up on. I'm particularly curious about bibs, burp clothes, swaddles and receiving blankets. How many of each did you end up needing? For example, if we did laundry once a week, what number was sufficient for each of those items?
Thanks ladies!

@preggomeggo82: hooray for nursery furniture!!
@Dandelion: oh my, that is a HUGE day!! yay wonderful news all around!
@megz06: umm, almond joy cake sounds amazing! and yay for books
@SupernovaJ: so glad your shower was so great! I'm also totally wondering about how many items to get for those things. I've seen lists online with amounts, but would love to hear real parents' opinions....
So I think I'm going to end up finishing up my research in Boston by tomorrow, so when we go home tomorrow night for our shower/childbirth class weekend we can be going home for good! I am SO excited, I've been working like crazy this week to get enough done that I can skip out on the last two weeks I was planning to be here, and it's actually paying off!! Also, I just got these thank you gifts for my shower hosts--since our baby's name will be Rosalie, how perfect is this gift set?? http://www.lushusa.com/Rosie/03720,en_US,pd.html#start=9 I'm really proud of myself for finding it, hahaha

@nana87: that is THE perfect thank you gift! I love the name Rosalie too, beautiful!
some of my mommy friends suggested having 10-12 bibs and 10-12 burp cloths to go through in a week. receiving / swaddle blankets i currently have 8 and think that's enough. swaddles, just two in size small and if she ends up liking the swaddle, we'll just get more as she grows.

@SupernovaJ: aww thanks! and wow, that's a lot more bibs and burp cloths than I was thinking we needed! I'll have to see how many we get on Sunday to figure out how many more we'll need...

@SupernovaJ: that's super exciting you had your shower and got everything unpacked etc. i'm sure it does make it feel more real! and that's great to ask for advice on the number of burp cloths, swaddles etc. i have about 20 burp cloths only because the snow days allowed me some extra time for sewing! DH thinks that's crazy btw. my sister said she thinks 3 is the perfect number for sheets.
@nana87: i love that gift for your shower hosts! i'm so glad all your hard work has paid off and you can be home for good! it will feel good to be home and get things ready!

I'm hanging in. Exhausted and a little stressed from the moving process, but trying to remember that it will all be over soon. Hoping to be out of here by Saturday, weather permitting. Was at the doctor's today, and baby looks good. I contracted all night last night, so I'm glad that things look like they have calmed.
Also, super excited that my diaper bag came. It is so pretty! Definitely an awesome splurge

So I see that a lot of you are Gold members. What do you think are the big perks? Worth it?
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@SupernovaJ: I'm glad you had a good shower! I think you definitely have enough to start with and you can always buy more if needed. DD spit up ALL THE TIME so I felt like I could never have enough burp clothes. Like I probably used 6 a day. But she spit up way more than other babies I knew so I think it depends. She had maybe 2 blowouts in her whole life so far and others had to change their kids clothes 4 times a day because of them so I'd hold out for a week or two after baby.
@Dandelion: yay!! Congrats!!
@nana87: Rosalie is adorable and YAY for going home!!
@LovelyPlum: hang in there mama! The new house is so worth the stress. I'm glad you like your new bag!
@preggomeggo82: I like gold so I can post more photos of DD and mainly just to read/contribute to good posts. I don't start many but I have twice for really we sensitive topics. I've definitely found it to be worth it.

@Dandelion: Woo hoo that your offer was accepted!
@LovelyPlum: Hopefully things with moving calm down soon. So stressful to move, but glad baby looks good!
I have my shower tomorrow! I am excited. DH isn't because I caved and asked him to pain my toes tonight (since I can't reach my feet without being uncomfortable), and I got the biggest scowl I've ever seen, lol. But he said he would! He must really love me.
I have always understood that baby showers were boring because everyone I ask that's what they say. Well, my friend asked my mom to come up with some game ideas, and anyone who knows my mom will know that this baby shower will be hilarious (and maybe slightly inappropriate), lol. She is doing a diaper game apparently where you need to smell and taste whatever is in the diaper. While I eww'd, she laughed. She also went to Spencers and bought 6 onsies. She had to show me two of them because she couldn't contain herself. I am looking forward to the other two.
Should be a fun and funny shower, so I am very excited!

@megz06: how was your shower?
We had our make-up sprinkle today and it was really nice. No present opening, no big fuss....just friends, family and yummy food. 14/15 guesses I was having a boy and they all gave name advice. Everyone was asked to guess my delivery date and April 1st was the winner so I'm hoping they're right and baby comes a few days early I'm really starting to feel huge and pregnant. That was not even the case two weeks ago but suddenly I'm experiencing swelling and more weight gain. Ugh. Is it too soon to say I'm ready to be done? Lol
Hope you all are having a good weekend!

Tonight I was walking down the stairs outside my inlaws apartment and tripped on the last step. Ugh...I twisted my ankle, which is now swollen and banged up my knee pretty good. LO is moving fine so I'm npt worried about him but adding more discomfort to this stage of pregnancy is just awful. I'm hoping the swelling in my ankle will go down tomorrow.
Such a stupid thing to do. And I'm always annoyed at dh for babying me on those stairs whenever I go up or down them. Now he's never gonna let me go there again lol.

So this weekend was huuuuge for us, with coming home, our childbirth class, having family in town, and our shower! It was all really, really great--the shower was just lovely. Several imporant people couldn't end up making it (like my sil, who was one of the hosts, was planning on coming in from out of town with my older niece, but my younger niece had a high fever so they canceled ), but it was a really a fun, wonderful group, and everyone seemed to have a great time! My bff had a couple cute activities--it was a book-theme, so in addition to guests bringing books, she had designed an ABC book with pages for people to decorate that she's now going to laminate so it'll be an actual book we can use! And she did a quiz game where she asked our parents questions about when dh and I were babies, and had everyone guess which was each of us (like, "whose favorite animal was a dog?"). So fun! My sil was planning on taking photos though, so while some people took a few, and we have good pics of the room, there aren't really any good (non-blurry) pics of people...oops!
The childbirth class was really great too, though also exhausting. I don't know how much I learned that was new exactly, but I definitely feel more confident in the decisions we're making!

Anyway, looking forward to reading my backlog of posts. Yikes! Where did January and February go? It's getting to be baby time hope everyone is staying as comfortable as they can these days.

My NST was today and went well. Everything was perfect. I have another on Monday, and then Wed I get to go to another office and meet with the Dr who will be doing my section. I'm excited to see her...I haven't seen her since last year in the hospital with S. My OB at this office said that when he called her and told her she's doing my section, she was really happy to be a part of something positive for us. So, I'm excited to go see her!
Now, I head to the diabetes clinic this afternoon. I'm curious to see if there's a difference in my weight between the two offices in one day, lol. I did eat lunch, though, so it might make a slight difference, lol.

@luckypenny: Glad your sprinkle was fun!
@Dandelion: Sorry about your ankle. Is it feeling better now?
@nana87: Glad your shower went well. Sounded like a lot of fun. Birthing class is super overwhelming. I actually learned a lot in mine, but I was (still am maybe lol) very ridiculously stupid when it came to babies. I was glad I took it because I felt a lot better about everything afterwards.
I feel caught up now! It was an exhausting weekend with my in laws (a story I won't go into because I'm over it now and done being upset about it). My shower was AMAZING! I loved it! We had a great turn out and the baby made a killing on gifts. I seriously was overwhelmed by the generosity of everyone. For instance, we got 36 onsies that day alone (that's now even counting the outfits and socks). We registered for one infant carrier and ended up with 3, lol.
I am battling some major sinus issues right now. My left ear is completely plugged, making daily work or anything with sound difficult. I guess my sinuses are very swollen and inflamed so my ear is plugged due to my sinuses not draining properly, so I got a prescription for Rhinocort, but it is SO expensive, so the medical director told me I could take Nasacort instead, and it would be safe. Never used a nasal spray before so I am really scared!
Good news is baby is head down. Bad news? It's making me pee a lot and have a lot of round ligament pain and cramping-like feeling.
Can I admit something selfish too? I get really sad when I look at my pregnant self in pics now. I came across a pre-baby pic, and I was SO happy with how my body looked because I worked so hard to work my butt off-literally and somedays I just feel like such a fat cow. I am not fishing for compliments or anything because I know, as a pregnant lady, I probably do look all cute and stuff, but I can't help but feel a little sad
On to some pics of the shower!

Thanks for all the well wishes! The move is all but done. We have rockstar friends who just got it all done for us on Saturday, which was amazing. Now, we just have to finish cleaning the other place, which we're going to do tonight. My shower is this weekend, so it's the last time we'll travel before baby. I am excited to see my mom!
In the crazy news of the day, I spent my morning/afternoon in L+D. I had been cramping on and off since last night, and when I called the doctor's to be seen today, they told me to go to the hospital instead. NOT what I was expecting to here! Turns out it wasn't labor, which I was 95% sure it wasn't. I fell again on Monday (blargh-stupid ice), and this was just some residual cramping from that.
But I got two pieces of news while I was there. First, baby is head down-YAY!!! The crazy news is that I'm already dilated 1 cm and at a -3 station. Ho. Ly. Crap. I know that you can walk around for weeks while dilated, but this kid is ready to go. Um, listen baby: I have no carseat, no mattress for your crib, and nowhere to put you. Not to mention that I have to drive 4 hours for my shower on Friday night. So, just stay where you are, OK???
@Dandelion: I'm so sorry to hear about your ankle. How are you? Did you end up getting it checked? And I'm glad that your NST went well. It sounds like your doctors are handling the end of this pregnancy really well. I'm glad that they're taking such good care of your family!
@luckypenny: I'm really glad that it went well! I hear you on the feeling huge and maybe done thing, though-I feel like I blew up over the weekend, and it's uncomfortable!
@nana87: I'm so glad that you had a great shower. It sounds like fun! And congrats on being home
@preggomeggo82: yep, this baby's butt is constantly in my ribs. It's not great.
@HazelEyes: hi there! I wondered where you had gone off to. Hope you're feeling well!
@megz06: I'm glad your little one flipped, too! And what a great shower-it looks like a ton of fun I hear you on the body image thing-it is really hard. I have officially passed the weight that I was before I lost the weight that I did before I got pregnant (wow, that was an awkward sentence), and it's kinda depressing. Also, our full length mirror at our old place broke in the fall, so I hadn't gotten a really good look at my naked pregnant body in a while. At the new place, there's a big one in the bedroom, and the first time I saw myself, I was really bummed. But DH keeps reminding me that I'm weighing two people on the scale, and I'm trying to enjoy this bump as much as I can while it is still here. I have to admit, though, the gigantic boobs I could totally do without
