@Dandelion: @jhd: I'm a mega-wuss, even when not pregnant. I can't handle scary, sad, or dramatic, so DH has to prescreen most things to make sure it won't upset me. As a result, I don't watch much TV-or many movies!

Facetimed with E at grandmas because she did her first pee in the potty! And she got a chocolate chip as a reward so I guess they're having fun Talked to DH over lunch today so I've calmed down some. We will call E's doctor to see what she says and worst comes to worst, we will have her stay at grandmas for a few days. She has spent the night with them for as long as 4 days before so it'd be nothing new for her. But I hope we are all healthy soon.
And yeah @Dandelion: I cried TWICE during frozen. @LovelyPlum: I used to watch law & order and now I have no clue how I could! I can't even watch the news!

@luckypenny: way to go, E!! What a big girl you've got there I bet she is loving the grandma time. Take advantage of it and get in some Mama time while you can

@luckypenny: I used to watch Law & Order with my brother and I think the same thing...how did I ever watch that? I can't handle anything sad or scary...especially right now!
ETA glad your day is going a little better

Alright, ladies-I have to brag for half a second here. Our department is sponsoring a conference tomorrow, and a few grad students and I are going to dinner with the keynote speaker. I'll have you all know that not only am I wearing real clothes (and a real bra!) but I also did my hair, put on makeup, and am not wearing tennis shoes. I'm feeling fairly put together and kinda pretty, which is a big deal these days.
Little victories, yes?
@jhd: @luckypenny: the only "crime" show that I can watch now is Psych, which we're currently binge-watching on Netfllix. DH thinks that I could probably handle White Collar as well, so that's probably next. Otherwise, forget it!
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: we loved psych! we binge watched that together over the summer. you might also like Chuck. DH & I are on season 3. And yay for you! Enjoy your dinner out. I'm sure you look fabulous!

@LovelyPlum: Good for you! A nice dinner out always makes me feel better and I'm sure you look great

Ok ladies. I'm 3cm and 40% effaced. OB did membrane sweep and I've been cramping and have some light bleeding. She said to expect baby any day now as my cervix is very favorable. DD is sleeping over at grandmas today so DH & I can both rest. He is starting to feel sick so I think he will feel better after a good nights sleep.
coconut / 8079 posts
@luckypenny: yay! That's great news!! I hope you & DH both get good rest. He is not allowed to get sick!!

Still here. Contractions stopped around midnight. No more bleeding today either. Pretty sure I'll be pregnant forever lol
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: blahhhhh. But, you'll be in good company, because I am ALSO going to be pregnant forever. Been feeling off all day and all last night, too. I had contractions and nausea last night, but they let me sleep. Woke up at 4 am in discomfort, but there was no contraction in sight. Went to a work function this afternoon, but I had to leave early because my back hurt so bad, and I contracted the entire drive home. Laid down, they went away. Stand up, they're back. This baby does not want to leave.
In other news, apparently my mucus plug regenerated after last week, because I lost more of it this morning. Oh, and I now have a horrible sore throat and am coughing something awful. Awesome.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jhd: @luckypenny: DH has been sick for 5 days, and I've been a wreck worrying that he won't be able to be in the delivery room. For a while, we worried it was strep, but it turned out not to be, thank goodness. He seems to have come out of it, or at least be on the mend, but I woke up with a barking cough this morning. All of this sickness needs to go away!
PS-I really sound like Debbie Downer on here today...sorry about that. Didn't mean to!
coconut / 8079 posts
@luckypenny: @LovelyPlum: sorry ladies this last part is so hard! fx that both of your babies come very soon
I was at a school thing most of the day. I felt really good all week but now I'm just worn out & uncomfortable. I took a nap & DH got us take out for dinner so hoping tomorrow will be better. I keep waking up at 5am anxious about the fact that I haven't had energy for grocery shopping! I know everything will get done it's just hard not to get overtaken by the crazy pregnant lady emotions.
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: big hugs I hope that cough goes away as fast as it came. And no worries. I think we all deserve a little vent at this point!! This stuff is hard!!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jhd: thanks lady The good news today is that I am officially done with work! My boss told me today not to come in on Wednesday, the first day I'm supposed to work this week. So while I still have to go to class (provided I'm not in labor), I'm done with work for a while. Such a relief!
Enjoy a night of relaxing with your DH. I hear you on the grocery shopping-it is exhausting. Not only that, but when you go, this can happen:

So beware the crazies!

Also, did you ladies see the new emoticons? I love the Team Green one!
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: omg I can't believe that lady!!! That made me lol though...just what I needed, but sorry you went through that!
And wonderful news about work!!
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: and yes I love the new emoticons just finished reading the comments on your grocery store post and they made me laugh even harder. I guess I need to be thankful for the fact I have mostly just had lots of stares lately, no awkward comments from strangers!
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@LovelyPlum: same, if I am standing I have contractions but laying down I'm fine. Who knows. My OB appt isn't until next Friday but thinking of changing it to Tuesday and seeing if she can strip my membranes again. I ate an entire pineapple and DTD with DH so I'm doing my part! Lol I'm half you don't have to go back to work. Now you can just relax and wait hahaha the irony!
@jhd: naps are the best I swear I've cooked one meal a week and the rest is takeout because we are all just too tired.
I love the new emoticons too! I'll put them in the next update
eggplant / 11408 posts
@jhd: it was unbelievable, I will say that At the time, I pretty much wanted to run away screaming, but now it just makes me laugh. So glad it gave you a good chuckle-watch out for the crazies!!!
I must like causing scenes, because on Friday, while I was in Starbucks, I spilled a bunch of coffee in front of me, and my friend who was with me assures me, based on the reactions of the other people in the store, that everyone thought my water had broken. Nope, I just burnt the hell out of my hands, thanks. But they gave me a wide berth after that. Silly college students.
@luckypenny: good call on moving up your appointment. I don't know if they'll strip mine on Monday or not. I'm eating lots of spicy food, but to no avail. I've not been brave enough to DTD quite yet, but it may be coming soon. We've reached the point where I'm ready!
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: hi there It's GORGEOUS out here (60s), so we took the pup on a 2 hour walk. It was awesome, and now I'm contracting...again. We'll see if I believe it I also have plans to try out this cake recipe that someone mentioned on another thread: http://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2013/03/19/easy-homemade-funfetti-cake/ It looks ah-ma-zing and exactly what I need right now I still have to write a paper and am definitely sick, but all in all, things are good.
How are YOU? How do you feel?
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@LovelyPlum: wait, funfetti cake?! Can I come over it's gorgeous here today too after a week of nothing but rain do we went to the park and walked around an outdoor mall. I've been having lots of brownish pink discharge but no contractions yet today.
We have a LO friend bday at 4 which I was hoping to avoid. I'm just not in the mood to see everyone being overdue and plus they aren't serving dinner, just cake so I want DD to have real food for dinner. Anyway the plan is to leave before cake and have dinner with MIl and SMIL instead.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: yep, of course you can come over! If you're having cake for dinner, it should at least be funfetti I hope your discharge means something good is on the horizon. I've had lots of contractions and period cramps, but I'm not sure I believe them, so for now I'm just ignoring them. May go lay down for a bit. And I hear you on the avoiding things business...I have to turn in two assignments tomorrow, and I was hoping to have some more time to get them done, but alas
Enjoy your dinner-I hope these babies show themselves soon!

@LovelyPlum: I'm coming over for cake too!
My friend brought me homemade cupcakes this week...the first I've had since my gd diagnosis...and they were soooo good!

Campbell is a week old today. What a week. He is a good baby. Eats, sleeps and pees/poops. I couldn't breastfeed him but am working to pumping and using formula. I think it is because I had a horrible virus the days before he was born. And he lost 12oz in 3 days in hospital and I had to do what I thought was best for my baby. He is thriving now. We got back to pediatrician on Tuesday to check weight/jaundice.
I am healing from c section. Honestly, it hurts like HELL when I have to pee/poop but otherwise I am doing fine. My horrific cough isn't helping so I am taking cough medicine so I don't feel like I am going to pop a stitch which I know I won't but it's scary and hurts. I go to see my OB on Thursday for a check up so that's good I will know if healing ok.
I knew i would love my baby but I didn't know it would be this all consuming love. Even when he won't go to sleep and I am at my wits end I wouldn't change it for anything in the world.

@NY_Smiles: I'm glad to hear you are both doing well. I am so jealous of your baby snuggles and it sounds like you're an amazing mama! I hope you start feeling better soon! Were they at all concerned about your cough and Campbell? I only ask because DD has a cough and I don't know how going to keep them apart and new baby healthy!

@luckypenny: I had to be around baby probably same as you DD. they said to just be obsessed with washing hands all the time.

@LovelyPlum: enjoy that cake! the photos on that blog are gorgeous! and good luck finishing your assignments. fx baby will come very soon!
@Dandelion: i bet those cupcakes tasted amazing after all that waiting. i definitely have been eating more sweets than usual lately.
@NY_Smiles: i'm glad you and baby are both doing well!
@luckypenny: i hope the bday party and dinner were good. fx your baby also decides to come very soon!!
I feel soooo much better today than I did yesterday. We decided not to set an alarm this am and I slept so much better knowing I didn't have to get up at a particular time. I missed not being at church but I think I just needed a morning at home in my pjs. DH helped me get some things organized in the nursery and he put together the Rock N Play and our stroller. I took a nap and we went to Sams for some groceries and dog treats. Have to take extra good care of my furry baby! Now I just need to get a few more groceries and we will be all set for this baby!

Skipped the bday party to go to L&D. I was really dizzy and had the worst headache so doc wanted me to come in for monitoring at L&D (she was the on call doctor anyways). Labs haven't come back yet but baby is doing good and everything seems normal so far. Looks like we are going out to dinner with MIL still and I can't wait to get back home and hug and kiss my little E and I guess baby is staying put awhile longer
eggplant / 11408 posts
I will catch up in a bit, but just wanted to update. Went to L+D for contractions lasting 60 to 90 seconds every 3 minutes....and then they went away. So I had a good cry, and now we are home. Talking induction tomorrow AM at my appointment. This false labor is making me NUTS. And, I got neither the paper written or the cake made.
@luckypenny: glad the labs look good Take it easy tonifht!
@jhd: we have skipped church the last two weeks, too. It is the most I have missed ever, but it is really, really nice to just be able to nit have to go anywhere when I feel so crappy. I'm glad you and DH had a good day. and I hear you on spoiling the pup-I have been doing that, too!
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@LovelyPlum: Oh lady, I am so sorry. Having now been on both sides of the spectrum 1. having lots of false labor and being dilated for awhile and 2. not being at all dilated or having had any contractions at 41 weeks, I can tell you waiting for this baby is almost harder than delivering. And now, being overdue with my second and my OB strongly suggesting induction, I'm pretty tempted. But I just keep remembering that despite not having made any progress at 41w with DD, when she was ready, she was ready. The long wait and crazy crying nights where I thought she would literally never come out or didn't want to meet me (seriously, thats what I thought) made it almost 1000x more worth it and that moment I finally met her was so intense.
All of thats not to say that if induction is 100% what you want to do, then by all means sister do it. But just know that all this false labor or "irritable uterus" or whatever they want to label it, isn't for nothing. Your body isn't failing. Its just gearing up for the moment when your LO says, "ok, I'm ready now". But you know whats best for you and as long as you and LO are healthy that is all that matters I'm pretty sure I'll be here to commiserate and complain with for awhile too Hang in there! We are all here for you and I can't WAIT to see a pic of your sweet little one
grapefruit / 4582 posts
PS i also have a bet going with DH that this one will decide to come on DD's original due date of 4/12 just to be funny
coconut / 8079 posts
@LovelyPlum: hang in there! i am so sorry you've had so much going on. i really really hope that baby will come soon. big hugs to you
@luckypenny: that's funny about the due date
eggplant / 11408 posts
@luckypenny: thank you I really don't want to rush things, but I am just so. tired. I don't know if we'll end up inducing before 41 weeks (that's as long as my doctor will let me go), but I'm at least going to see if I can get my membranes stripped tomorrow. I know my body is gearing up, but three weeks of this is taking its toll on me. Not to mention the fact that the resident tonight seemed to say that I was less progressed than on Wednesday...I just don't know. I suspect that what may end up going out the window is my plans for no epidural, because at this point, sleep sounds nice.
I think I'm extra emotional as well because Thursday is the first anniversary of me finding out I was pregnant for the first time, and Friday is the one year anniversary of my first loss. So I really don't want to have this baby on either day, but if it happens, it happens. Just a little bit of extra stuff to think about.
And that's funny about your bet with DH. We have joked that next Monday works well schedule-wise, but I really don't want to be pregnant until then!!
@jhd: thank you lady
In other news, DH gave me my post-baby present tonight-a full spa day!!! I'm getting a mani/pedi, lip/brow wax, and an hour-long massage. I am so, so excited. It gives me something to look forward to after the work of carrying this baby for so long!!!
grapefruit / 4582 posts
@LovelyPlum: heck, one week of what you've been through is rough let alone three! You're a serious trooper I bet they'll do a membrane sweep since you're already dilated and I've also learned that everyone's interpretation of how dilated/effaced is different because it's such a subjective measurement so I wouldn't stress. I always just trust what my regular doc says. And I can see how those dates approaching would make you anxious. Even if baby does come on those days, it won't take away from the special feelings you have that spa day sounds amazing!!! It will be well deserved !

Hi all! We had a nice weekend. Finsihed the nursery, saw Captain America (awesome!!), and bought a new car. Baby-mobile!
I am 2 weeks from my due date and already getting "did you have the baby yet" texts and fb messages. It makes me so cranky!!
