    Hi ladies!! Sorry I've been mia-- newborn care is exhausting! I just caught up now and I'm thinking about you all! Little Rosalie is doing well but it's so hard, we're so tired and though she's breast feeding like a champ it's been difficult, I have flat nipples apparently and she is so small it's hard to find a comfortable position. I spent some time w an Lc but still need a second pair of hands to situate her correctly. My parents have been amazing thought in laws were also here and made thing a stressful. They left yesterday and my dogs went with them for a lcouple weeks-- I haaaaate not having then here and they were actually amazing w baby but we can't handle taking care of them on such little sleep when I can't feed the munchkin on my own yet

    So a quick update with more to come once I get it together a little more but baby Benjamin Patrick was born Friday night. He is 8 lbs 8 oz and 21 1/4 inches and completely awesome. Last week was a bit dramatic but his arrival was perfect despite the third degree tear. We are all at home now and learning how to do this whole thing

    Congrats to the others who have had their babies! And good luck to the rest of the April ladies waiting on babies.

    Hi! Updating from L&D here! I have my epidural and I was 5cm about an hour before and they haven't done another check yet. Excited to have baby here by the end of the day

    @NY_Smiles: congratulations! I'm so sorry that you were sick, though. If I go in the next few days, I may very well be sick, too-I have no voice and have been really sick for a few days. But it's good to know that you're enjoying baby snuggles now!

    @nana87: so good to hear from you I've been wondering how you and little R are doing. I'm glad that the ILs have left. Hope the pups get to come home soon!

    @gilmoregirl: congratulations, lady!!

    @luckypenny: YAY!! Come on, baby!! I can't wait to see what you're having!!

    @LovelyPlum: how are you doing lady?!

    @luckypenny: I'm here-still pregnant, still contracting, still sick as can be and getting absolutely no sleep. But that seems fairly par for the course as of late

    My update of the day is that my doctor promised that if I were still pregnant next Monday, we would schedule an induction for next Tuesday. I am praying that I am not still pregnant then, because I've had good signs today, but still nothing definitive. He didn't strip my membranes or check me, but I suspect that's because I got checked last night. In the meantime, I'm beginning to think that I need to ride our bumpy freight elevator up and down until my water breaks!!

    @nana87: hi!! Glad you and Rosalie are doing good feeding will get easier and maybe it's better that dogs aren't there so the three of you can all get adjusted

    @gilmoregirl: congrats mama can't wait to join you on the other side of this whole pregnancy thing lol

    Posted this on my birth in progress thread but I'll share here too. - E came in this morning while I was having a contraction and said "mommys upside down! E goes upside down too!!"

    @luckypenny: she is pretty much the cutest ever. Not that this is the same thing at all, but my dog gets really freaked out when I have contractions and go upside down, so I have to pretend I'm playing a game with her. It helps, but it's nowhere near as cute as toddler/Mama poses

    @luckypenny: so excited for you that baby is finally on the way! And that pic with your dd is too cute!

    @LovelyPlum: thinking of you! And also really hoping Baby Plum will arrive before next week. You are doing great!

    So it doesn't mean much in terms of timing, but I was happy to have some progress at my 38 week check yesterday. 70-80% effaced and 1 cm dilated.

    @preggomeggo82: yay, that's exciting! Progress is progress, yes?

    @LovelyPlum: Exactly! Of course my husband immediately thought this meant I was having the baby, but I talked him down.

    eggplant / 11408 posts

    @preggomeggo82: LOL, yeah, I had to reassure my DH that just because I was having contractions didn't really mean much, actually. The process is *much* longer than pop culture makes it seem. I think he was relieved, actually, right up to the point where I said that it's longer unless it isn't, and you just don't know if yours will be long or short. Maybe I should have left that part out...

    @preggomeggo82: Well, that's where I was when I was measured at 40 weeks (I was actually only checked at 36 and 40 weeks...which was kinda nice for me). If nothing else, it's that much less you have to do when you go into labor.

    Guess who made her debut finally!!

    Our baby girl was born this morning at 6.50am, at 39w5d. My water broke at 2am on Monday night before the induction which was scheduled for 7pm later that day. Labored for 19 hours but contractions were inconsistent at 3-5 mins apart. Got pitocin and the contractions really got going. Dilated to a 6 and got an epidural. I could not go on at that point - it had been over 24 hours of labor with no food and no sleep. I started to get delirious. I was able to sleep after the epi took affect and then felt the urge to push when I was fully dilated, about 5 hours later. Pushed for 1.5 hours and she finally arrived. It was a marathon labor but overall so happy with the way everything turned out and we are just so in love...

    Thinking about you all!! Best wishes for the best delivery and a happy and healthy baby and mama!!

    @LovelyPlum: I'm doing good...just tired. M has decided that from 1 am til 3 it's party time. But luckily dh has been able to handle to/from school for ds so I can rest up during the day.

    I'm healing really well. People seem surprised when I tell them I'm feeling good. I think my dr gave me the VIP c section lol.

    eggplant / 11408 posts

    @Dandelion: that's so awesome to hear-I'm really glad that you're feeling so well! You deserve the VIP c-section Hopefully M gets the memo soon that party time is more fun for everyone when Mama isn't so tired!

    @SupernovaJ: congrats!!

    @LovelyPlum: hang in there lady

    @Dandelion: glad you're feeling good and have DH to help out! L was up from 1-3 last night too but she's been a champ sleeper all day letting me get some rest

    We are just waiting for a few more tests to get done and my OB to come back for one checkup and hopefully we will be home before dinner. I'm feeling really pretty good except for all of the hot flashes and cramps. They are definitely worse than with E. I feel like I'm still having contractions! I can't wait to get home so E can meet her new baby sister. And I have to say I was secretly hoping for another girl the whole time and DH told me he was too (though the whole pregnancy he swore he had no preference). It was the best moment when he told me, I couldn't believe it. I love when he says "my girls". I'll update more on the birth later!

    @T.H.O.U.: thank you! DH's virus lasted 5 days, so I'm thinking that is what this one will do, too. I'm on day 3 and hoping to come out on the other end soon. Have you had your 20 week scan yet? How do you feel?

    @luckypenny: thanks love! I had to go to class in the middle of your announcement, so as soon as I got out, i grabbed my phone to check and see what you had I'm so excited for your girls to meet!

    Looks like I'm the only mama left, so I guess we will see! In the meantime, I have to disinfect pretty much everything so we don't get baby sick

    @LovelyPlum: I can't believe you're the only one left! I guess all our April mamas are early April. Your day is soon!

  33. LovelyPlum

    @Dandelion: Not the only one, but the only TG mama! I don't think there's many of us left, though. Just me, @preggomeggo82 and @jhd that post regularly, and a handful of ladies who are around the bee a bunch but don't post to this board much. I can't believe how many April babies there have been already, though!

    @LovelyPlum: I bet it's a girl ! You have to even out the scale I hope you feel better. I feel sick too but hoping Mother Nature just kind over takes over and knows I have to get well ASAP

    @preggomeggo82: cool! I have a coworker who is due in June and she and her DH are planning on getting the highlander too. And yay for progress!

    @Dandelion: so glad you are healing well

    @luckypenny: hope you are headed home by now. So exciting

    @SupernovaJ: congrats!!!

    @LovelyPlum: I hope you feel better very soon! Do you have many classes and assignments left this week?

    I'm feeling very tired but otherwise ok. My long term sub arrived yesterday so I was rather overwhelmed trying to meet her and introduce her to everything. She's actually wrapping up student teaching so the plan is for me to work as many days as possible this week and next, but I'm taking Friday off for my next OB appt. maybe I'll be able to clean my house a little too.

    eggplant / 11408 posts

    @luckypenny: you know, it's funny, I've been thinking that recently, too. But I'm trying not to get attached to the idea, because a boy would be equally awesome. We'll see soon-I finally want to know!!! Also, on the illness front: I didn't take much in the way of medicine the last few days, but I caved today and took Sudafed. When I did, I was finally, finally able to function like a semi-normal human being. Problem is, I don't want it to dry up my supply at the very beginning, so I'm just hoping that this cold goes away before I need to worry about it!

    @jhd: thank you! And actually, great news on that front: I don't have to go to class anymore until after the baby is born!!! I'm so excited I still have a few things to do, and it's in my best interest to get a bunch of them done now, as opposed to later, but it is such a relief. I'm glad that you have your long-term sub. I'm sure it's overwhelming, but hopefully it lets you sneak off a few days to get some extra rest!

    I'm still here! I haven't been posting much because this pregnancy has been pretty uneventful (thankfully), but my due date is next Friday the 18th! I'm really hoping she comes before then because I am so over being pregnant! I went to the doctor last Friday at 38 wks and I haven't really felt anything out of the ordinary so I didn't have her check me, but I go back on the 14th at 39 wks 3 days and she will check me then. Hopefully there is some action going on by that point! I really don't want to be induced or be pregnant until 41 weeks, which is as long as they'll let me go. I'm so jealous of all of you other ladies that have met your babies already!!!

    @LovelyPlum: yay! That's great you don't have to go to any more classes. And good luck getting those things done. You can do it! I'm glad there is some flexibility though. I'm sure that helps!

    @CharityAnne: glad you are doing well!

    @CharityAnne: yay, I'm glad you're still here!! I saw you respond on another post the other day, and I was hoping you'd pop by Come hang out with us, uneventful or no! Those of us with way too eventful pregnancies want to live vicariously through you

    @jhd: it is a HUGE weight off of my shoulders, I can't even tell you. I am so, so relieved. Now I can just concentrate on not coughing...not "not coughing while also discussing why Hitler's invasion of Greece affected the Greek civil war". Because really, the latter is a little much for me right now
