@loki: Sorry you got sick, but YES, a good sign! I haven't actually gotten sick yet - 6w5d today, and while I'm OK with it, sometimes I feel like more severe symptoms might make me feel better! I also hold my chest when I'm walking down stairs too - ugh! Here's hoping you feel better this afternoon!

@happybluebird - cold water and walks help me too - or even just a big stretch. My office is a block away from SBX, so sometimes I treat myself to a passion tea lemonade to get me out of the office and wake up - I've gone cold turkey on coffee (even decaf) - so this isn't the same, but is refreshing!

@pawprints: work from home sounds awesome. My company isn't there yet, so unless I get prior approval or am working on a big project, it's into the city I go each day! Enjoy for all of us!

@SunshineMcC: I'd been feeling cranky thinking about the women I know who got to stay home for their entire pregnancy, but I guess I am pretty lucky to be able to work from home. Important to keep it all in perspective.

@loki: Very good sign...even if it sucks.
@pawprints: I work from home on Fridays. It's a fabulous perk although I get much less done those days.

@loki: oh you poor thing! So far it's just nausea for me and I am DREADING anything worse.

I heard that your mothers pregnancy/s are a good indicator of what yours will be like and I ended up telling my mom my news a couple of days ago! My mom said she never vomited and was just nauseous but that the nausea lasted the WHOLE THREE trimesters. Joy!

I'm loving everyone's comments about what foods they find tolerable at the moment - I definitely am going to need to get some watermelon and cheese sticks now!

I find I can eat yoghurt any time of day and night right now, and I second the cold applesauce tubs! Bananas are also good.

What foods are other people finding good? I need more ideas so I can break out of the cracker rut!

@loki: like you, I can't really handle vegetables atm. It's so sad because I usually eat a diet of 70% veggies and now it's all carbs and dairy! Lets just hope our LO's got lots of nutrients early on before the aversions started.....

@NeekieRose: and @marionberry: I will also have 2 under 2, and had a c-section for breech! I am not sure what we're going to do with this pregnancy, but we are planning on just going with the OBs recommendation. VBACs are the norm recommendation, so I expect that's where we will end up.

@As Time Goes By: for Canadian maternity clothes, they're getting a few more things. Gap maternity is in some cities now, and H&M has maternity. Destination Maternity has Motherhood and A Pea in a Pod, which has good work clothes. And there's lots of good maternity boutiques too for things that are a little pricier! And you can get anything online - ASOS is really good for maternity.

@Banana330: I didn't tell them about the late ovulation really clearly at the first appointment, because I was in shock about being pregnant after all the bleeding, and also because the LMP date put me at 5w4d, so I was super happy to have less interminably long early weeks to wait. Then when we had the ultrasound and it was unclear, I went back and actually figured out that I was much closer to 4 weeks than I was to 6 weeks. When we meet with the doctor on Thursday morning with the HCG we can look at the results with the revised age based on ovulation. But ugh, this week is already dragging.

So I had my 6w ultrasound today and found two fetal sacs but only one showed what she thought might be a gestational sac - no view of fetal pole or heart beat. She says I'm probably not as far along as I thought and have a vanishing twin. I go back in in 2 weeks for another ultrasound. Just praying they see a baby in there next time.

@lulu22: My mom also said she didn't ever throw up with any of her three pregnancies but had some nausea. So far that seems to be true for me too!

I've actually been feeling a lot better the past three days. I woke up Saturday feeling so much better and was actually able to enjoy the weekend! I went to work today feeling much better and I was actually able to eat, so I ate A LOT.

I think a few things have helped me feel better, and I hope that it lasts. I've been getting eight hours of sleep and staying active. I usually just want to lay down at home but I feel worse when I'm laying down for a long period of time. When I get up and walk around I feel better.

I was a bit worried at first about not feeling as nauseous but my Ovia app at 7+3 said "The placenta is picking up more and more of the burden of supporting your baby, meaning the hormonal toll could be less for you." I'm hoping that's what is also helping me feel better!

@marionberry: How are you feeling? When is your next appointment? Is there any way that your dates could be off at all?

  9. marionberry

    pomelo / 5041 posts

@Boopers: I have definitely had pregnancy symptoms. As far as dates, I know when we had sex and when my period was. If I figure 5-6 days to implant I could be around 5w5d at the earliest. The OB's ultrasound picture wasn't very clear so I just have to wait for another ultrasound in 2 weeks. I am getting doubling hCG's drawn so my results will be in Wed and she'll call Thurs with results. These days will drag on.

@lulu22: I was all about carbs in my last pregnancy. My DH was loving it cause it was KD, pizza or grilled cheese for dinner every night. I didn't touch a vegetable for 4 months. I have no aversions yet but I'm only 4w.

@marionberry: good luck with your HCG draws. It's so stressful and time really does seem to drag.

@marionberry: thinking of you and hoping all of the worry is for nothing

@Boopers: I read that in Ovia today and then proceeded to throw up! It was only the second time, but is laughed at the irony. I wouldn't be worried about the decrease in nausea. Overall I have been feeling it a lot less the last week (more indigestion though!)

    @PawPrints: the calendar looks good!

    @delight: congrats and welcome!

@LovelyPlum: @As Time Goes By: Thank you so much! Yes I hate the stress of all this worry, but do pray it's for nothing in the end. I'd much rather that than a miscarriage. I guess we'll just wait and see.

@NeekieRose: not so lucky i puked again this morning. a lot. blah.

@marionberry: i hope everything progresses and you get good news at your next appt... so sorry you have to deal with this stess

@Banana330: thursday is so soon, that's exciting!

  23. NeekieRose

@Rockies11: Yah for 2 under 2! I'll admit, I had a minor panic attack yesterday during daycare pickup thinking about wrangling two small children. I think I'm leaning towards a repeat c-section? I don't really know. I'm trying to be open minded about it. I did read a little about the risks and it said that the risk of uterine rupture is slightly higher for pregnancies 18-24 months apart. And mine will be even closer than that!

@marionberry: Sending lots of good thoughts your way! I know I would be stressing out, but hopefully you will be able to see a perfect little heartbeat in a couple weeks! I am so nervous and excited for my ultrasound on Thursday....

@loki: Boo! But again, I think it's actually a good thing.

  24. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@Banana330: Yah! I almost bought one of those tests the other day, but I refrained. I have an ultrasound on Thursday too. I should be at least 7w4d by then so I should be able to see a heartbeat....

@NeekieRose: @Banana330: Good luck at your ultrasounds on Thursday! I hope you get great results and get to see your little beans thriving in there.

@loki: Whens your first appt? Last time I was waking early, taking half a gravol+B6, sleep some more. I would usually throw up every morning when I first got up (drink a bit of water and usually throw that up) but then feel at least a little better. I also wore sea bands all day and took the half a gravol+B6 at night too. Had I seen my midwife earlier I would have gotten diclectin. I'm thinking about asking for it on thursday just in case this nausea progresses like last time.

  28. loki

    pear / 1787 posts

@Banana330: i had my first appt last week and won't have another until 9 weeks. i've never had luck with gravol... it often makes me feel worse! definitely heading to the drug store at some point today to see what i can find to combat this. and at my next appt i might have to ask for something! i'm still not feeling great right now but i think throwing up this morning definitely helped because i feel much better than yesterday. and i'd rather do it at home than at work! when did your morning sickness end!?!? please tell me it ends haha.

@loki: Mine continued even after I found out I miscarried I was still throwing up until my D&C. My friend just texted me and said hers let up around 9 weeks... it varies though.

  31. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@loki: So this may be TMI, but if you throw up at work, are you able to hide it? I have been thankful to not throw up, especially at work because how would I justify not going home other than saying I was KU?

  32. NeekieRose

    persimmon / 1386 posts

@Banana330: When you took B6, how long did it take to make a difference? I picked some up last Thurs, and have taken it for 5 days now and have not noticed any difference. If anything, the nausea is worse.

  33. loki

    pear / 1787 posts

    @Banana330: i'm hoping for the 9 weeks.

@NeekieRose: i know i'm really worried about that too. yesterday i knew i was going to throw up so i ran to the washroom and a lady in my dept was in there... so i was able to just pee and wait until she left and then i puked a lot and thankfully no one came in! can't be certain i will be that lucky every time...

  34. Banana330

    nectarine / 2317 posts

@NeekieRose: I think it was more the gravol helping but it only took the edge off. I was still miserable. I couldn't even walk in to the kitchen or I would throw up. My DH left my packed lunches by the door (mostly crackers and pb&J). I only threw up at work a few times, never got caught but could have easily.

@marionberry: sending you hugs and prayers! I know waiting is so, so hard, but know we're all sending up good thoughts for you!

@lulu22; I've found that cold foods help me with nausea - popsicles and Jamba Juice are my buds these days. DH & I went to a gas station last night b/c I wanted a popsicle b/c I felt so sick - it totally helped. Jamba juice for lunch today - at least I'm getting fruit in!

@boopers: what is the Ovia app? Sounds interesting!!!

@SunshineMcC: booster juice was my go to because i could get some protein, fruit & kale in... but i couldn't stomach it yesterday and that's entirely what i threw up after lunch so i'm soooo jealous of your jamba juice! popsicles do sound amazing right now though!

also, the ovia app is AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGG, get it asap! i'm obsessed. you can even look up medications or food to ensure it's safe to consume... it's pretty great!

Cheez-its are what I am currently snacking on. So not healthy, but they do make me feel better. Well at least while I'm eating them...

@loki: I hope you feel better soon!! I feel so bad for you because I know how much I hate throwing up! Fingers crossed it doesn't last much longer!

@NeekieRose: Everyone keeps bring up food that's helping them and then I want them! As soon as I read cheez-its I needed them! Silly cravings!

I did try some watermelon this morning from the suggestions and it helped! Have some carrots and ginger snaps too for this afternoon. Thanks for your help ladies!
