I've missed so much! welcome to all the new ladies, i love when our little group expands!
all of your bumps are adorable, you ladies are beautiful. i might have a bit of a bump but it's covered under layers of my normal chub sooooo... not visible. i'm really worried since i'm not skinny i won't have a cute bump ever, i'm just gonna look like an enormous woman haha.
@Astro Bee: i'm not sure how any of that coverage stuff works. i think my MIL told me her amnios were covered because she was over 35 buttttt that was 25 years ago so i'm sure things have changed. seems like you got a few good answers though!
@NeekieRose: she is BEAUTIFUL. We are considering Rose as a first name fo our little one (assuming she's a girl)... it's my #1 name I think!

@Mrs. Sunshine: @HappyBluebird: thanks! I'm pretty smitten with her.
@loki: Thanks! Rose is my middle name and my great grandma's name. We considered keeping it as an option for a first name, but I just loved how Reagan Rose flowed! If your LO is a girl, it would be a great name! I also had the same fear of not having a cute bump last time, but I did end up getting one, and I'm sure you will too!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: mine definitely grows as the day goes on, so I do think it's mainly bloat!

@NeekieRose: She is adorable - love that she's wearing DH's glasses. Her name is really, really beautiful!

Hi everyone! WOW! So many posts in the last 12 hours!!! And so many BEAUTIFUL mamas with gorgeous bumps! So exciting!
I had my first appointment with the high-risk OB yesterday... it was probably the most stressful day of my pregnancy so far.
The good news is, the baby is just fine! We got to see it on the ultrasound and my gosh, it's a busy bee of a baby! It was jumping and flipping and bouncing around... I think DH and I will have our work cut out chasing after such an active little monkey! So, in the end the appointment was mostly good.
However, as I was getting ready to leave for the appointment, I felt a huge gush of liquid come out- I ran to the bathroom to find lots of thick, yellow liquid. I'd never had anything like this before so I freak out and by the time I got to the clinic I was pretty much a nervous wreck! As it turned out, the dr wasn't concerned about the liquid... she took a look and a sample and said it was all fine. BUT she was super worried about my heart symptoms. She said that some chest pressure is normal in the 3rd trimester but not this soon. She immediately called my cardiologist who agreed it was strange and abnormal. I was due to see him next week but he said the office would call and try to get me in within the next day or two. When I was describing my symptoms the OB said something about those being the symptoms of a heart attack (!!!!!) NOT what I wanted to hear. Then, to top it off, they insisted on doing a pap smear, which of course made me bleed (completely normal) and they said I would spot for a day or two. So now, even though I know this spotting is normal, it really is the last thing I want to see when I go to the bathroom.
I'm so happy and relieved that the baby is ok, but also stressed and worried about my heart... hopefully I will get some answers from the cardio soon.

@loki: Rose is my #1 for a girl too! I think it's such a beautiful name..

@lulu22: we could have a couple of name twins!!! what else is on your list? DH just said the other day he doesn't know if he loves Rose as much anymore when it's been our #1 all along!!! so now i'm grumpy and hoping it's a Rose but still entertaining other ideas. His #1 is Alice.
so sorry you had to endure so much stress... that all can't be good for your heart! i'm glad they're getting you in sooner and glad everything with the LO was good hopefully the cardiology appt puts you at ease

@loki: I love all flower names... Rose, Daisy, Poppy... but Rose is the only one that DH likes! I also quite like Ruby and DH and I both love Olive but we also love Oliver for a boy and I think if we had a girl first we would rather save Oliver for a boy. I think Alice is a beautiful name! But I have a good friend called Alice and another friend just had a baby and called her Alice... so it's out for me.

@lulu22: i LOVE poppy. we recently went to a wedding and the flower girls name was poppy and i thought it was precious. we might use a japanese middle name that means crysanthemum so i dunno if it would be weird to use two flower names, even if one is in japanese! haha.

@lulu22: oh wow. I'm sorry about all that stress. Praying it all turns out okay! You are just as important as that sweet little babe of yours & I hope ypu get answers soon!

@lulu22: Wow so sorry you have that stress! Fingers crossed for you for your appointment with the cardiologist!

@lulu22: ugh, so sorry you had such a stressful day - not fun. I'm glad your appointment went well and you got to see the baby moving around - that's so wonderful. Were you able to move your appointment to get in earlier to see your cardiologist? I hope so - keep us posted! Sending you love and prayers!

@lulu22: So sorry. I can't imagine how stressful that must be... I'm glad your doctors are working together to get you the attention you need so quickly, but seeing that spotting must be unnerving, even if it is a natural effect of the pap.

@Mrs. Sunshine: @HappyBluebird: @SunshineMcC: @ineebee: @loki: thank you all SO MUCH for your wishes, prayers and thoughts. I really appreciate it and am so happy to be part of such a supportive group! I am hoping the cardiologists office will call this morning to arrange an earlier appointment. I'm on the west coast so it's still early here, but if I don't hear by them by this afternoon I will call.

@lulu22 @loki: Rose, Alice and Poppy? Wow, what great names! I find it so much easier to think of girl names than boy names. Every time I bring it up, DH suggests something ridiculous like Melchizedek or Dorcas. I'm hoping he gets serious once we find out the gender, though.
Can I ask a question? What kind of pants are you ladies wearing? I've got a bona fide blump going on right now, which expands after I eat ANYTHING. I have a pair of leggings and black J.Crew maternity jeans that I'm loving... But nothing else will fit! I can't just keep alternating between the two!
I wish it were still a bit warmer up here in New England so I could continue wearing dresses, and shame on me for only having only super fitted skinny jeans pre-BFP.
apricot / 306 posts
@ineebee: my pant options are also limited! And I also only have super fitted skinny jeans... most of which are high-waisted, ugh! I've ordered a be-band from target so that I can wear my regular pants unbuttoned.. I think it will arrive today! I've also been wearing a lot of midi skirts that sit above my bump (read: bloat) they are really comfy and you can wear them with stockings and boots if it's chilly. They do 'accentuate' the bump a bit though, so maybe not great if you are trying to hide. But I'm looking forward to getting the band so that I can wear my jeans and pants again!
apricot / 306 posts
@ineebee: also, I forgot to mention, I've been doing the hair-tie trick with my jeans so that I don't have to button them up!! but it is a bit risky without a band because sometimes the fly slips down and is visible! haha.
pear / 1787 posts
@lulu22: ya definitely call, i would be on them asap!
@ineebee: when i started getting really bloated, we went and did a shopping trip and i bought four pairs of pants that are a size up from banana republic and j crew outlets... and they have been life savers! i have a couple of pairs of maternity pants from old navy but don't feel comfortable wearing them yet because i dont' have a true belly... they don't feel supportive enough of my belly so i find them unflattering. if that makes sense? on weekends i wear track pants and lulus and one pair of jeans i have that seem to be comfortable still.
pear / 1580 posts
@lulu22: Yeah, maybe I need to get a band! Let us know how you like it! I know there are a lot of different kinds out there... It feels like such a waste not wearing my beautiful corduroys and yellow skinny jeans, so perfect for this cool fall weather!
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@lulu22: @ineebee: yep! Last pregnancy I did the hair tie trick for longer than I would like to admit
pear / 1580 posts
@loki: Hmm...I haven't tried on pants a size up... Doesn't it look baggier on your thighs? Maybe I need to think outside of the "skinny jeans" box. And I do have some low-waisted yoga pants somewhere deep in some drawer... Those would be great for the weekend! Nice!
@Mrs. Sunshine: Really! Hmm that is a great idea! I remember reading about that a long time ago but hadn't thought about it since! I'm gonna try that as soon as I get home today!

do any of you guys follow the Oh Joy blog? She is doing 'dressing the bump' videos and as a first-timer I've found them pretty helpful - it's what prompted me to try the hair-tie and get the band.
here is the 12 week video:

@ineebee: ya they're a bit looser but they're all dress pants so it's not bad. they're all still pretty slim fitting and are cut just above the ankle. kinda like cigarette pants. but they're stretchy material and so comfy. based on how big the waist is, i think i should be able to get away with them until maybe mid-november. then i'll purchase some more actual maternity pants.
does the band work? i almost bought one but i have visions of it riding up like my tank tops do. i can't imagine it staying in place!

@infertilish: Another IVF'r here!! I sadly lost a twin last week, but now have one healthy baby at 8.5 weeks! Congrats on your IVF success and twins!!
@lulu22: Wow, what a stressful appointment!! I'm so glad baby is fine, and hope you hear from the cardiologist soon and find out what is going on!!!!
For all of you that are normally big meat eaters and can't tolerate meat right now, what are you having for dinners? I'm getting bored of pasta already, but am having trouble coming up with other ideas.
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@lulu22: I totally agree with all her tips! I didn't even really buy maternity clothes at all with LO #1. I just wore maxi skirts, tanks & tees with former fitting undershirts, stretchy shorts & one pair of maternity shorts (it was summer). I wore & still wear all the same clothes pre & post pregnancy as I did during with a few few exceptions. Stretchy clothes for the win!

@Jenn23: i am the wrong person to ask because i am essentially eating like a child... whatever i can get down. which is a lot of bagels and a whole lot of nothing healthy the smell of meat cooking disgustssssssss me. the only way i can get any protein in me is in chicken pot pie! so i've been indulging in those quite a bit.
apricot / 346 posts
@Jenn23: I'm no help in the meat department since I'm a vegetarian (still have dairy and eggs) and I have been eating so much cheese! Cottage cheese, cream cheese, cheddar in so many different ways. I talked to my midwife and she said nutritional content of food isn't as big if a deal in the 1st tri (she said to focus on vitamins/minerals since that is what baby is using up).
So really whatever you can get down and keep down. For me this varies day to day but potatoes have consistently been tolerable!

@ineebee: thankfully thee weather has been warm so I've been alternating stretchy jeans and low waisted capris with a longer shirt. I'm not sure what I'm going to do next week since the weather is supposed to cool down!
pear / 1580 posts
@Jenn23: I've been eating a lot of shrimp, tons of soup like @Mrs. Sunshine and protein from dairy like cottage cheese like @As Time Goes By! But honestly, the most consistent thing I can stomach even when I have no appetite is fruit, especially KIWIS. I never loved kiwis as much as I do now. So delicious!
clementine / 957 posts
@ineebee: I agree about the hair tie trick, I've been doing that ALOT at work. I get to wear jeans at work so luckily I don't have to but any dressier work clothes. I have two pairs of old navy maternity jeans that were bought for me. One is the full panel type which I don't feel like I can really wear right now as it doesn't offer any kind of hiding of the bump/bloat. The other pair is just the shorter panel (it has a name but I can't think of it!) and those aren't bad with some looser tops

@As Time Goes By: I wish it were warmer here! I have so many nice, loose dresses that would be perfect for hiding my belly. We should all try the hair-tie trick!

@lulu22: @ineebee: I'm doing the same hair tie trick with my jeans these days (when I wear them) - I work in a marketing agency, so tend to wear dresses most of the time, which is a bit easier for the blump! Last Friday I wore a pair of regular jeans for the first time in a few weeks and I literally had a muffin top when buttoned them, I couldn't believe it - I think I'm going to invest in a band too, as well as nice pair of work maternity pants and jeans. I have super muscular legs, so am not a fan of leggings to work, although I live in my yoga pants on the weekends!
@Jenn23: carbs, carbs and carbs here - lots of cheese sandwiches, bagels, mac and cheese and mashed potatoes. I keep worrying about gaining a ton of weight given those foods, but so far I'm OK!
@lulu22: oh, thanks for the video link - can't wait to check it out!

random question - do they make maternity tights? The thought of wearing tights over the belly is not a positive one. Any idea?
kiwi / 563 posts
@lulu22: oh my gosh, I think the bella band is going to change my life - it's so cute, like a layer tank. Love it!!!
persimmon / 1386 posts
@ineebee: can you pair your dresses with tights and cardigans? I am all dresses all the time here. It allows the bump to stay hidden pretty well for quite awhile last time.

do you guys have any other maternity/mommy blogs or sites that you really like?
pear / 1580 posts
@lulu22: I love that video! Thank you!! I'm totally buying a Bellaband RIGHT NOW.
@NeekieRose: Yes! I think I have one or two dresses that that might work with! I think I'm really gonna have to invest in a second pair of leggings or I'm going to wear this one pair to the ground.

I'm going to level with yall...I just made a huge crock pot version of a Progresso soup I've been loving (trying take it a bit healthier) & I just ate 4 freaking bowls & I domt even feel stuffed like a normal person should lol oh pregnancy.
