@SunshineMcC: i'm pretty sure they do, i thought i saw them at old navy the other day! i definitely plan on purchasing a pair or two.
what are you guys doing about bras? my "fat" bras are all small on me now. bra shopping is an ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE to me and like... my least favourite thing to do. and i hate spending money on bras because they're SO EXPENSIVE... especially cuz these bad boys are probably going to continue to grow. what did you do/are you doing about this?!
@Mrs. Sunshine: omg i am jealous. i wish i had an appetite. i just had a croissant and soup for lunch. and had maybe an eighth of the soup annnnd now i feel sick.

@Mrs. Sunshine: Love it. I had 6 pieces of pizza for lunch. Granted they were small, but still - 6!?

The cardiology clinic called me and told me to come in tomorrow morning... relieved to have an appointment soon to get everything checked out. So far no chest symptoms today, so that's good I guess. Hope to get some answers tomorrow!
persimmon / 1363 posts
@lulu22: That sounds so stressful! I had some pressure higher to start with, but it was more the bottom of rib cage pushing out, so it wasn't like chest high. It started at 10 weeks or so? Glad you're getting checked out soon!
@loki: We are naming our baby Penelope if she's a girl, and shortening it to Poppy! And re: bras - you can get these little things that extend the band of your bras and make them last way longer. I bought those and bigger bras, and by the end of the pregnancy I had two of them together extending my bigger bras, ha ha ha.
@Mrs.Pinecone316: So happy for the great ultrasound!
@ineebee: I think it's totally worthwhile to get maternity pants now, especially if you have a limited wardrobe due to slim fitting clothes. Mine was like that with my first, and I bought maternity pants at 6 weeks, and it was like heaven! And they worked throughout the pregnancy.
@SunshineMcC: They do make maternity tights, and there are underbelly ones. I prefer underbelly maternity everything to the over belly ones, because I didn't like the feeling of the panel pressing on my stomach, which hurt the whole time. They are harder to find, but they do exist and they are 1,000,000x better than just regular tights.
I can barely eat anything and most food makes me want to yak, even on crazy high doses of heavy duty drugs. This morning my husband was like "oh do you mind if I eat the last Powerbar" and I was like - ARE YOU CRAZY TRYING TO EAT A SICK PREGNANT LADY'S LAST POWERBAR? even though I am normally a nice person. But seriously. And he's always drinking my lemonade. Which I need. To live.

@loki: For my first pregnancy, I pretty much gave up on bras. For breastfeeding, they recommend not wearing underwire. So I ended up just wearing shelf bra tanks and sports style bras. And I have massive boobs (started at a C and now multiple D's). I did buy two bras after I stopped breastfeeding and apparently was still ginormous so those are my go tos right now.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: so happy to hear you had a good appointment. 10 weeks is great!!!
@lulu22: so glad you were able to get an earlier appointment!
@Rockies11: Thanks for the info on the tights. I wear dresses all winter long with tights, so that's good to know. The under belly ones sound so much more comfortable. I'm on a mission. Oh, and I love the name Penelope, especially shortened to Poppy!!
persimmon / 1363 posts
@SunshineMcC: I found them at Pea in the Pod, but they were really expensive and totally shit quality. They were, however, so comfortable that I still wore them everyday, lol. But I am sure there is a better option out there, and I am also searching for it, so let me know if you find it.

@Rockies11: that is so beautiful, I love it. My bras fit around right now just the cup is.... Overflowing. They seem to even be popping out the bottom
@brownie: I'm thinking I might have to resign myself to sports bras soon. Wah.
@lulu22: Yay for an earlier appointment, fingers crossed!
PS... It's reasonable to cry on the train when you don't get a seat right??? Wishing I was visibly pregnant right about now. I was hoping someone would hear my cough and see my tears and take pity on me..
No luck

@sunshinemcc: I got great maternity tights from target which were capri tights and even though they covered my belly, I actually liked that. I often wore them with really long shirt/dress outfits.
@lulu22: How scary but I'm so glad they're getting you into the cardiologist tomorrow. The pap thing is totally normal but I know it can be stressful. And don't feel bad about fluid. I felt a big gush when I was about 38 weeks and went to our hospital only to find it was nothing. Totally embarassing.
@mrs.pinecone316: Yay for a really good ultrasound. I'm dying for my appointment to hurry and get here but I have 6 days left...and I don't even know if I get an ultrasound. I'll be over 11 weeks at that point so I'm going to ask for one so that we know for sure there's 2 healthy babies before I announce something on FB.

Oh and as far as outfits go...I have to wear business clothes every day for work so I've been relishing in skirts with elastic or pants from my fatter days - a size up does work pretty well. I haven't touched my maternity clothes box yet, but will likely have to in a couple weeks. On weekends I've been trying to wear dresses and such but I know that this pregnancy I'm going to be living in leggings on the weekends. I love them paired with a long shirt/tunic/sweater and since my bday is in October I have asked DH for some cute boots to wear with them. I just wish I could wear comfy clothes like that to work!

@loki: My trouble is definitely in the cups right now, not the band, though I imagine band troubles will come later. I have two bras from pre-preggo times that now fit well (they were always too big before!), and two or three that are okayish still but getting smaller by the minute. I bought a few Bali Comfort Revolution smart sizes bras at Target (and then got more from Amazon).

The fit is a lot more flexible and forgiving that my old bras and I'm hoping I can wear them through the whole pregnancy. I think they'd work well for nursing later too, especially if I get converters.

Edited to add that I got this style too:

@marionberry: Where did you get your business-y maternity clothes from? I dug out all mine, and I def need updating. I find that it's really hard to find good quality maternity business clothes - there's so much more cute casual wear!
Re; bras, I have heard advice to buy bigger nursing style bras if you're planning on nursing, rather than maternity bras, and that seems sensible. Last pregnancy I bought a few sportsbra style maternity bras, and I didn't find them comfortable, and they didn't work at all for nursing, and my ribcage grew so much they got really tight and couldn't be extended. This pregnancy, I am still just wearing nursing tanks with a built in shelf bra, which I find super comfy, and they're what I have used all these months nursing because they're good pp stomach hiders too.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: Hooray for a good ultrasound appointment!
@lulu22: Hope your appointment goes well! It has to be scary not having any answers
@loki: No idea re: bras. If I remember correctly with my first pregnancy I just got a few bigger ones. But I just bought some new (and expensive) bras like, 3 months ago, so... I might just go with the bra extender? It's so annoying b/c you just don't know when they will stop growing and like, you don't want to keep buying more and more. Bleurgh.

@lulu22: awesome! I hope it goes well tomorrow!

@Rockies11: Right now I'm wearing clothes that aren't officially maternity. Like a lot of stretchy pencil skirts from Nordstrom and the Banana Republic outlet. When I can't fit into those anymore I'll be wearing mainly maternity clothes from Motherhood Maternity or Pinkblush mixed with my normal cardigans and such. I was big in the summer last year so I'm going to need a totally different set of clothes this year.

So, I had my appointment today with my regular doctor, and got the referral to the doc who will deliver my little bean and provide my prenatal care. She's delivered both of my friend's babies, and is really recommended. He also ordered a ton of bloodwork, including for parvovirus, hepatitis, hiv, iron, and blood type - even though I already know that, and the military already has it on record. I also did my urine culture this morning, and forgive me for the TMI, but it was really cloudy. I hope that it doesn't mean anything bad, like GD.
And last but not least, he hauled out the doppler and hubby and I heard our baby's heartbeat for the first time! 156 bpm. It was really amazing!!! He says he's 10/10 on recent predictions for boy/girl based on heartbeat, but 0/10 on the ones before that. Lol! I guess I'll find out in 8 weeks whether my mom wasted her money on the little girl outfit she already bought - in February! She's very happy to finally be a grandma. Lol!
persimmon / 1363 posts
@Astro Bee: I think cloudy urine is totally normal! But the worst thing it could be is a UTI. It wouldn't be GD. Yay re: heartbeat!

@Lulu22: So happy your cardiologist was able to see you so soon. Good luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking about you!
@Rockies11: I love the name Poppy, but would be afraid to go that route for our baby, because in my family we call the grandfather Poppy, and the grandmother Nanny. I think it's an East Coast thing, I'm from Nfld. Anyway, I wouldn't want her to get confused, even though it's such a beautiful name.
Re: maternity pants, I haven't been wearing any maternity wear so far. At home I just wear lounge wear, but as I mentioned I wear a uniform to work, which is very forgiving, with an elastic waist, and drawstring jacket/top waist. We even have maternity uniforms, although they are not that attractive looking. Eventually, I will have to go to clothing stores and have them issued. But at least, I don't have to buy them. I also have a friend who has offered up her closet of extensive maternity wear. Of course, I'll end up buying stuff, but this will be a start. I'll probably go over in a couple of weeks, and sort through it.
Re: bras, I'm still wearing my regular bras, and although I have a lot more cleavage going on now, they still mostly all fit. I have been wearing sports bras more frequently, although I previously only wore them playing sports or working out. They really are more comfy!
pear / 1503 posts
@Rockies11: Whew, thanks. I guess I'll find out soon enough, anyway. I've had UTIs before, but aside from the frequent bathroom trips, haven't experienced any other symptoms. The last urine culture I had, which was used for the BFP test at the doctor's office at 5w indicated high protein, but it wasn't a mid-stream collection so they are sometimes off. And thanks! It was so amazing to hear. I've been so jealous of everyone on here hearing the heartbeat weeks ago.

@Rockies11: I don't have any business maternity wear, but have lots of matte jersey dresses, and that fabric is really forgiving, so hoping to get a lot of wear from those and cardigans.
@Astro Bee: yay for the heartbeat - so happy for you. I have cloudy urine every now and then too, but my doc has yet to bring up any issues from my samples, so that's good.
@lilyofthewest: thanks for the bra recs. great idea to consider nursing bras now vs. maternity bras that won't work for nursing. I honestly wish I could wear my sports bras to work!
@marionberry: yay for cute boots! Here's hoping DH gets you a great pair for your birthday!!

@loki: It really does feel like such a milestone! Especially graduating from my RE to OB it made everything feel so much more real!
@lulu22: So glad they could get you in soon!
@Rockies11: hahaha that made me laugh. My husband is the same way with food!
@marionberry: Oh I am sure they will do an u/s, I hear that is a perk a twin pregnancy is they watch you so close! Hoping the next 6 days go by fast for you:) The wait really is torture. Thankful my OB is going to give me one every week until I hit second tri. So good for the peace of mind!

@Mrs.Pinecone316: Congrats on your positive u/s! So happy your little one is doing well. And measuring one day early - that's one day earlier to holding him/her in your arms! I can't wait to see mine tomorrow. Fingers crossed it goes well.

@Mrs.Pinecone316: I'm glad you had such a good OB experience. I know when I switched from my RE to my OB I was really excited. Awesome that they're doing weekly ultrasounds for you too until you get to 12 weeks. How cool! The OB who delivered my last baby retired from doing OB so I have his replacement, whom I love, but I work with him on a few things so I asked him and he said they usually do an ultrasound every month since they can't always find two heartbeats on the doppler. It's only been 3 weeks since my last appt but I'm hoping she does.

Ugh, trying to drink my 1 L ++ of water before the NT u/s. Very excited about that, but the water is going down soooo slow.

@Astro Bee: good luck today!!! I have my NT on Monday. Did the doctor recommend drinking that much water before the appt, or are you just getting your daily water in early?

@Astro Bee: I have mine next Thursday, they told me to have a full bladder but didn't give me a certain amount to drink. Good luck at your appointment!

@Astro Bee: good luck today!!!
I just spent 10 minutes throwing up a single banana while having to leave LO alone in the kitchen while she ate breakfast. & now my throat is on fire. But on the plus side, I'm 9 weeks today!

@loki: honestly I am looking horrible in bras that are too small! I'm flowing out of the cups and I know it's so bad, but I don't want to spend money on a new one then have it not fit again in a few months... I'm not super huge chested (C/D cup) so I might buy a cheap one that I'll wear to death over the next 6 months.

@Mrs. Sunshine: I feel ya! I am at 9 weeks too and it is very challenging!
@Mrs.Pinecone316:Great news!

@Astro Bee: I've noticed my urine has been cloudy throughout... My concern was UTI since apparently they are more common in pregnant women but it's been a week so I'm assuming it was fine when they tested. My midwife reordered all of my previous completed blood work too!
ETA: just saw Rockies already responded

Anyone who is/has been on progesterone support (and if this is the wrong board or too off topic, let me know - I'm a HelloBee newbie): I'm 10 weeks 2 days, and today is supposed to be my last day of those super sexy suppositories. I'm super anxious about it. I'm worried that it's too soon to stop, even though I *really* want to! Anyone else dealing with this?
persimmon / 1363 posts
@infertilish: I am not on them, but I had a good friend who was after stims and an iui, and she DEF felt like it was too soon and was very nervous about discontinuing. She ended up asking whether it would be harmful to continue, and the RE said it wouldn't make a difference, so she continued to use them to 12 weeks because it made her feel better!
apricot / 346 posts
@infertilish: I have no experience, but if you check out the pregnancy and IF board (under the pregnancy board heading) you might get some responses. Have you talked to you doctor about it? Good luck!
