@Astro Bee: DH can definitely tell when I'm about to throw up - I apparently get a wide-eyed "oh god why is this happening to me" look. Last time he went in and prepped the toilet area for me just in time. Romantic.
Big day for us - DH felt baby move for the first time this morning! I grabbed his hand while we were lying in bed, and I was totally right that the kicks were strong enough for him to feel.
Our anatomy scan was fantastic! We did get an entire 90 minutes of watching baby move around like a little gymnast, and got some amazing photos. Everything looks normal as far as we can tell.
Oh yeah and of course....

@SunshineMcC: oh yeah, totally excited to see bebe again. And I'm excited at the idea of a boy, so I'm hoping that's the case!

@brownie: ha! If they tell me boy this time I will believe them - mostly because I want to buy stuff!

@PawPrints: I remember when DH felt our first babe move. It was such an awesome experience. That's great your scan went so well!
Thank you everyone for your positive thoughts. We are going to go with the Panorama blood test on Monday for our first step. We have another scan in two weeks and those blood tests will be back so we can decide about the amnio then. I know the next couple weeks will drag. I haven't been sleeping and this evening I was so distracted I took my eyes of DD and she fell down the stairs. I felt so horrible.
Congrats to everyone who has found out the gender. We were team green but if baby ends up being ok I think we might find out. I think it would help me bond and get through the rest of the pregnancy, if that makes sense.

@PawPrints: yay more girls!
@delight: totally understand the bonding thing, I think it really helped me!

@brownie: yay girl! I have an anterior placenta too, I can't wait to feel something but I haven't felt anything yet.

Haven't been here for a bit. We are team green but have our AS November 24. Super nervous and excited!!!
How's everyone feeling? Am I the only one with a waddle but no bump?
kiwi / 563 posts
@anonysquire: hey there! Good luck with the AS! Ours is Tuesdau and I feel the same way! I have the bump, but no waddle yet, unless I'm going up stairs! Stairs tire me out like crazy and I'm hanging onto the railing for dear life! Ha!
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@SunshineMcC: lol. I carried my baby from the store to my car and about keeled over. I'm so tired!!!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@anonysquire: I have a little bump but am waddling for sure. I never waddled last time at all. I'm having weird pains in my right butt whenever I walk. Good luck at your AS.

I'm trying to get caught up after a few days away, but it has been busy!
@delight: I hope the next few weeks pass by quickly for you
@PawPrints: thanks for updating again and I love the tally at the bottom! My first reaction was count boy vs girl!
@brownie & @Banana330: I have an anterior placenta too. I was starting to get worried when I was still feeling very little, but now I'm getting impatient! I think DH was able to feel a bit of rolling the other day just because my belly was pushing out so hopefully soon we will feel kicks
@anonysquire: I'm actually feeling pretty good! The nausea seems to be gone, I have a bump that people are noticing, and I am sleeping again! I do have minor nuisances like some aches and pains but I can deal with that since the reality of a baby coming is starting to feel more real!
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@anonysquire: no waddling yet here! I am feeling lots of movement though which is great! I'm getting quite a few headaches & if I don't do at least a few minutes of stretching or yoga everyday my knees & lower back hurt intensely. Even when I do stretch usually feeling pain by the end of the night but that was pretty frequent last pregnancy too & even during time of the month so I'm guessing it's a hormone induced pain for me. Still sucks though. Otherwise I'm feeling great & seem to be enjoying it as much as last time!
cantaloupe / 6923 posts
@delight: sciatic nerve pain? Hate that!!!!
@As Time Goes By: still not feeling real here yet. Are you feeling movement? Sorry if I missed it but do you know gender?
@Mrs. Sunshine: love that you are enjoying it so much despite the aches and pains it really is great! So jealous you ate feeling movements!!!

@Anonysquire: I have a smallish bump, and in the last couple of days have been noticing a distinct waddle. In fact, I was asking DH earlier today if he'd noticed that I was waddling. He says no, but I'm not convinced that it isn't noticeable to others. We're on our babymoon, so I can't even ask friends or family for their opinion. I thought the waddling didn't happen 'til later!
@Delight: I have near constant discomfort in my lower right back/butt cheek area. I'm convinced it's the sacroiliac (SI) joints, but aren't sure why it would be mostly one-sided. I've had intense pain here several times before (pre-pregnancy) that me and my doc are determining if it's due to a rare arthritis condition that's very prevalent in my mom's family. Unfortunately, it's difficult to diagnose and the only things that help are anti-inflammatorries (which I can't take right now, anyway). I do remember reading that SI pain and sciatica sometimes manifest themselves during pregnancy. Not sure where I read that tho. It was either hormonal or due to the hips spreading apart.
pear / 1503 posts
We've also been doing a lot of walking over the last week, and sleeping on hotel beds with varying degrees of comfortable mattresses and pillows, so I'm sure that isn't helping.
Do any second time moms remember pain/discomfort in their lower back/butt area this early. It's doesn't feel muscle-related, which is why I thought SI joints.
apricot / 346 posts
@anonysquire: I'm 20 weeks with a boy! Not much in the movement department but it's slowly increasing
@Astro Bee: my midwife said I have sciatica, but I think it's SI joint pain. It's only on my right side concentrated to where my sacrum and hip join with Charlie horse pain in my bum cheek from compensating. It's also a very sharp pain compared the the burning I've heard sciatica described as. Does that sound familiar? I haven't looked too much into it since I figure there isn't much I can do!
pear / 1503 posts
@As time goes by: My mom has sciatica and she's described it as pain running up and down her leg. Mine is in the same place as yours - at the junction of the sacrum and right hip. When I've had problems before it was sharp and shooting, and I couldn't open heavy steel security doors (there are two where I work). Now it's more a duller pain. I'll be asking my doc when I see her next.
honeydew / 7303 posts
@As Time Goes By: @Astro Bee: I have the same pain from my first pregnancy that followed me post partum. It's really acting up now at almost 21 weeks with #2. My OB referred me to physical therapy and it really really helps. They have certain moves to do that put your hips back in line and in place and it's crazy how much relief you can get! Definitely ask about it.

I have a bump but no waddle. 24 weeks today. Experiencing blurry vision for the first time today. I'm up about 10 lbs.
apricot / 346 posts
@Astro Bee: @yellowbird: you're both confirming my assumption that it's SI joint pain I'll mention it at physio (I already go because of a car accident) but massage and yoga have made it feel worse so I've just assumed I'll have to suffer through
nectarine / 2317 posts
@Astro Bee: I have that exact same pain -- right butt cheek lower back! mine gets worse after lots of walking. If you figure out a cure let me know!
honeydew / 7303 posts
@Banana330: mine is always on the right side too! Apparently my hip was way higher on that side and that irritates the joint.
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Astro Bee: hmmm mine kinda sounds like SI pain too. It's just in one spot, but sometimes when I get up (like off the toilet) it's a really sharp pain and I feel my whole right side buckle. I don't feel like it's burning up and down my leg like sciatica so maybe SI pain. I read this can be called Pelvic Girdle pain and it seems to fit my criteria. I definitely did not have this in my first pregnancy. I had no aches and pains with my daughter.
pomegranate / 3658 posts
@delight: I've been having pain that I've been referring to as sciatic pain just for lack of a better term, but I don't think that's actually what it is. I don't have any shooting down my leg, just pain around my tailbone when I get off the couch. Mine started way back in the first trimester and has been pretty steady so I've just chalked it up to my whole body rearranging itself to accommodate a human.
Updating again since I missed brownie before:

@anonysquire: I totally have a waddle! some days it is more obvious than others, and its WAY worse if I eat a big meal. I'm a gutz (my mom says my first word was 'more' as in 'more food' lol) so I'm trying hard to eat 5 small meals a day, but it's not always successful! I also have a bump though...
@SunshineMcC: yep, stairs are a killer for me too and I can't walk for as long as I used to without it wrecking me. ahhh well... only for another 4 months!
@delight: @Astro Bee: @Banana330: Butt cheek/tailbone pains have honestly been my most consistent pregnancy symptom and it all started when I switched to sleeping exclusively on my side. It gets really bad some nights and like @PawPrints, I notice it when getting off the couch etc. It's not usually a problem when I'm up about and moving. I've seen a chiro, massage therapist and talked to my yoga teacher about it... apparently it's a really common result of switching to side sleeping and is caused by the piriformis muscle. The chiro gave me a few exercises which sort of help temporarily, the massage therapist told me not to sit cross legged but honestly I get the most relief from yoga. About half my yoga class has the same pain so our teacher targets lots of poses for this issue and it really helps.. although my classes are on Monday and Wednesday and I notice the pain starts coming back on the weekend...think I need to start doing a Friday class! But seriously, if you have this pain and haven't tried prenatal yoga, give it a go, and be sure to tell the teacher about the pain... I noticed a huge improvement after about 3 classes.

@anonysquire: I have a distinct bump now, and my gait is changing, but, I wouldn't call it a waddle yet. I'm afraid waddle is coming though.
This is my first pregnancy, and as my bump grows there are some things that have really surprised me about the physical experience:
- I don't know why, but, I expected having a bump to be more like being fat. Chub squishes/twists/bends. Bump....not so much.
- I feel like I'm wearing tights that are too small; except it is my skin/abdominal wall that's too small, so, I can't take them off.

@Astro Bee: not a second time mom, but feeling the same low back/butt pain and tightness. I've gotten a couple of massages in the last month and that has helped me a bit.
@lulu22: same thing over here with walking. I used to average 10,000+ steps per day and now I'm lucky to get half that in without being tired!
Just did my first pre-natal yoga work (video at home). It was only 15 minutes but was super relaxing and the stretching felt great. I haven't exercised much since 9-10 weeks and really want to get back into it, as I know there are so many benefits for me and baby. What are you guys doing in terms of exercise, and how are you finding time to make it happen with other commitments, being tired and other PG symptoms?
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@SunshineMcC: mostly just walks & yoga. I don't run really anymore because I have trouble catching my breath these days. I just try to walk a miles in under 20 minutes at least twice a week. I have gotten pretty quick & if it's not too cold Ill go about 4 times a week. I love yoga. I feel so energized, refreshed & pain free (even for just a few hours) afterwards. I usually do some every day. Just a 20 to 30 minutes video. I'm thinking of getting back into some barre (again, just a video at home) about once a week for now seeing as how I'm a weenie & it's getting too cold for me to enjoy going on walks (excuses, excuses lol). I like to do something daily but I end up usually just doing something about 3 times a week. Mostly because I'm tired. But it's better than the zero days a week I was at last pregnancy so I still feel proud! lol
kiwi / 563 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: I hear you on feeling proud! After 15 minutes of yoga tonight I felt really proud too, and went and told DH how relaxed I get after. I like the idea of videos at home too because I'm not super motivated to hit the gym once I get home. I read several articles this weekend about how staying active can help with labor, so yet another reason to get myself moving! Thanks for sharing!
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@SunshineMcC: I really swear by yoga! I'm no pro as I've never been to a real class but it just makes feel so good & sometimes I'm even slightly sore after so I know it's doing strength training too. Good job, btw!

@PawPrints: yay, team ! congrats!
i've been experiencing the low back pain on just my left side that others have mentioned... getting up from bed/couch/chairs is really brutal and makes me feel like a 100 year old man. i definitely think i need to get on the prenatal yoga i've been talking about for months. ha. i also get CRAZY winded on stairs, it's really embarrassing. i don't think i have a waddle yet... but now i'm self conscious about it, i'll have to ask DH! haha.
i finally went out this weekend and bought some jammies & onesies & stuff for baby girl. i was so excited to finally shop! eee!
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@loki: yay for buying clothes for baby girl!
I had a couple very very painful contractions last night (they felt exactly like my labor with LO 1) but everything I'm reading says Braxton Hicks aren't supposed to be painful (i didn't have any last time). Anyone second time moms having this? I have a doc appointment next week, should I wait or call?

@meredithNYC: Last time, my ultrasound tech told me at 13 weeks she was 100% sure it was a girl...and she was right! Looking forward to seeing if your tech was right at 12 weeks!
persimmon / 1386 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: I would call just to be safe. Since I had a scheduled c-section last time, I never felt contractions and I'm not sure I ever really felt BH either.
persimmon / 1386 posts
As far as back/leg pain, I had it last pregnancy and have had it for at least a month or so this pregnancy. It's more on my left side than right and mostly in my butt area. Laying on the floor, getting up from the floor (life with a toddler), after walking a lot, and then a lot of just random times it is worse. I just chalk it up to normal pregnancy pains, especially since I had it last time and there were no issues due to this "butt pain".
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
Also, anyone else having lots of round ligament pain? I had it last time when I over certain ways but this seems to be a fairly persistent pain this time. I guess I'm in a whiny mood this morning lol
nectarine / 2317 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: No, sorry no pain at all really.
Actually this weekend I noticed what little bump i had was much smaller. Today it's barely there. I had to check the heartbeat with the doppler just to make sure everything was ok, (which we heard) anyone notice their bump getting smaller?
hostess / cantaloupe / 6486 posts
@Banana330: don't be sorry that you're not in pain, that's a good thing! lol
My bump varies in size day to day depending on where the baby is sitting. I had that last time too. When I went to take my maternity pictures at 30 weeks LO was sitting so far back I could suck my stomach in almost all the way flat. The further along I got I could even tell a difference in where she was sitting depending on how firm or soft my belly was. Apparently my babies like to sit deep.
ETA: so many typos! I promise I'm not an idiot giys! lol
nectarine / 2317 posts
@Mrs. Sunshine: ya true. i'm sure they're just growing pains.
good to know. I think i was just excited that it was finally showing up and then it disappeared. sneaky baby.
