@As Time Goes By: @marionberry: @meredithNYC: thanks ladies. I didn't sleep at all im so nervous for the amnio. I know it is a low risk procedure. I'm sad I wont get to pick up my DD for a couple days too.

@delight: Will you know much right away or is it lots of waiting again? I wouldn't have slept either. I hope today goes as best as possible for you - pain free, good results, and a fast recovery.

@marionberry: I get the FISH results on Tuesday. They are pretty accurate in determining if there is a problem. I'll get final results in 2 weeks. More waiting...

@delight: You poor thing. Well then fingers crossed for good FISH results for now!

@delight: oh my goodness, i hate that you're going through all of this! sounds like you are handling all the waiting much much better than most would! i hope today goes well and you get results quickly

@marionberry: @loki: @Boopers: thanks everyone. Just got home from amnio. It wasn't that bad. Just a weird feeling of having a needle next to baby. They confirmed baby is a girl. I was kind of hoping it would turn out to be a boy and then we wouldn't have to worry about Turner's. At any rate, they think I might get my results Monday which is good. Thank you everyone for all these positive thoughts. I know it's out of my hands. The genetic counsellor told me today that many of the girls with TS grow up to leave happy and fulfilling lives.

@delight: Glad it went ok, and fx for the results next week! Hope you can sufficiently distract yourself this weekend.

I had my follow up anatomy scan today. Baby was still be uncooperative, but hopefully the tech got all the pictures she needed. She's still guessing girl, but again, legs were pretty closed so hard to be 100% sure. I'll get the results next week at the midwife appointment.
I had an appointment with a new family doctor today as my old one is retiring, it was funny. We chatted about vaccinations, medical history and I had to tell her about my D&C in april. She then asked if we were going to try again, I said i'm 20 weeks now! she laughed and said i'm not really showing much yet. Pretty much confirmed my lack of bump.

@Banana330: at my birth center there is a group time and there were 4 women due early april. All of them look more pregnant than I do and it's my second baby. There are benefits like hiding it (still haven't told one employer).

@brownie: It's true.. my DH pointed out hopefully i'll be smaller overall and have to deal with less stretch marks etc! I do have good birthing hips for the baby to hide in!

Hi all! Sorry I've been offline this last week, just catching up on where everyone is up to.
@delight: so sorry that you have to go through all this testing, but I am glad you will be getting some answers... good luck with it! I will be thinking of you xx
@loki: I think Willa, Gemma and Rose are all gorgeous names! I'm Australian so to me, Gemma is more common that the others... I met a girl called Willa last year and it was the first time I had heard the name... I really like it! But I am especially partial to Rose, which would have been top of my list if I was having a girl
@marionberry: your twins look gorgeous! I love seeing everyone's ultrasound pics!
Hope everyone had a lovely Thanksgiving and is enjoying the holiday weekend... (maybe scoring a few deals on baby gear in the online sales?!)

Just wanted to add my two cents to the glider conversation. We got a really comfortable rocking recliner from BRU. It was $400, so not as expensive as some of the other chairs. It swivels and reclines almost flat, which is great. I didn't use it much until DD was transitioned into her crib at 3 months. So those that are hesitant, you definitely have time.
We went to Buy Buy Baby and BRU and just tried out a bunch of chairs/recliners. Definitely glad we got the recliner as we had originally planned on using the rocking chair that my MIL used for DH. It would not have been nearly as comfortable.

I'm very impressed that some of you can still get away with not telling employers etc. I'm kind of blown away by how big my bump has gotten. I frequently turn to DH and I'm like, can you even believe this?? I had a dentist appointment two weeks ago and the dental tech took one look at me and said "Is that what I think it is?" (Pointing at my stomach.) I sort of feel like this is just about big enough now, I don't need to get any bigger until April, thank you!

Hiya everyone -- I've haven't been on much lately, but, I've been reading along even if I haven't said much.
@delight: Thinking of your family and your baby girl. I'm sorry you're going through so much extra stress, worry and uncertainty.
I wanted to share a deal I just snapped up -- Honest has a 25% off coupon through tomorrow for new subscriptions and individual purchases.
We're planning to cloth diaper, but, lots of folks have warned us that you really don't want meconium poop on your cloth, changing cloth diapers as often as they need to be changed during your most immediate postpartum recovery can be daunting, and that one-size cloth rarely fits especially well on babies smaller than 10lbs.
So, I got us a bundle of newborn disposables (now watch me have an 11lb baby!) to carry us until cloth fits well and an essentials bundle. For $95 I got: belly cream, nipple butter, linen spray, a bar of soap, a big bottle of laundry detergent, a new dish brush, shampoo & body wash, 12 travel wipes packs, 4 big packs of wipes, and somewhere between a 4 and 6 week supply of diapers in cute prints.
While I'll have to store 320 diapers somewhere until baby gets here, I'm still thinking it is a good deal at 19¢/diaper. It would be $67 (23¢/diaper) just to get a comparable number of Seventh Generation diapers with the Amazon subscribe and save discount.

@PawPrints: I wear scrubs for work. If I wore them in/out (or if we had private changing facilities) I could probably get away with hiding it for another few weeks yet if I sized up in tops. Scrubs hide a lot!
However, we have to change on site and we have group changing rooms. So, as soon as I couldn't wear my regular pants (13-15 weeks depending on how uncomfortable I was willing to be), it was all over. Full panel pants are not exactly discreet. I told at 14w so I could stop cramming myself into regular pants for my commute.

@lilyofthewest: good deal on the Honest co! Thanks for the heads up... their belly balm is delightful, I've been using it for a couple of months now and I love it!

@lilyofthewest: our cloth didn't fit my LO until she was nearly 2 months old! I loved CDing & feel a lot of guilt that we quit after a year but it what it is & we don't have enough to cloth diaper 2 at once any way so it is what it is. I hope it works out for you!

@delight: sending you prayers and hugs. XO
Started looking at furniture this weekend. Love the Hemnes dresser from IKEA but the cribs I like are all bright white so not sure that combo will work as the whites are different. I'm sure we'll figure it out!
Had an awesome 5 day weekend, heading back to work tomorrow. We leave Friday for a long baby moon weekend in Florida so looking forward to that!

@SunshineMcC: Babymoon! Lucky you! Hope you have a great time!
As for me, so exciting! --Overnight, I felt the baby kicking a lot on my right side, so I had my hand on my belly. Then, I felt one huge, weird movement against my hand, and then felt the kicking on the left side! I could feel his body turning over! I wish I could've seen it, too. It was amazing though because I can really sense him growing and getting stronger. So surreal!
Anyone else hit any milestones over the weekend?
pear / 1787 posts
@SunshineMcC: aw jealous of your babymoon in florida! i could use a vacation right now. a month and eight days until ours! woop
@ineebee: omg that is so amazing... i can't wait for that. i mostly just feel like little kicks/flutters. i explained it to my husband as like... kinda the way it feels when ur stomach drops on a rollercoaster.. that's all i'm feeling. over the weekend i was bedridden all day sunday. i overdid it on saturday and was out with my MIL shopping from 830-330. by saturday evening i legit couldn't move... i cried from the pain. and then sunday i was so stiff and sore... it was awful. i thought it was sciatic but did some research and think it might be SIJ pain instead. so that was my milestone. seeing the dr about it tonight! wah!
pear / 1580 posts
@loki: Omg, you poor thing. I have to ask, though, did you get anything good while you were out shopping?
Anyway, I'm hoping things start to ease up on you soon!!!
pear / 1787 posts
@ineebee: my MIL bought me some work maternity clothes as christmas gifts. and new bras which i desperately needed! and we did a TON of stroller research so the day wasn't wasted... i'm hoping too, i am such a whiney complainer... i am just not enjoying pregnancy attttttttttt allllllllllllllllll.

@ineebee: @loki: Thanks! We're so excited - it's just a short trip, as DH's coaching season just started, so he can only get away for a bit. It's around 20 here today, and will be high 70's in Florida, so I can't wait!
@loki: where are you going on your trip? Sorry you had a rough day on Sunday - hoping you get some answers today! I was in bed most of the day Sunday too, but not from pain - just exhausted from the weekend. I did some shopping on Friday with my mom and came home and was an emotional wreck, stressed about nursery furniture and feeling overwhelmed. She and DH tucked me into bed and after a nap, I felt better and a lot less emotional!
@ineebee: OMG -that sounds so amazing! I'm starting to feel more movement and some kicks, but nothing like that - how cool! I cannot wait for that, and for DH to be able to feel baby move even more!
pear / 1787 posts
@SunshineMcC: at least we have an excuse to crawl into bed and hibernate. my husband was way less understanding about it pre-pregnancy! haha. we're going to Costa Rica... can't waaaait!

@marionberry: thanks but my results weren't ready unfortunately. One more day of waiting...

@Ineebee: So exciting! I first felt baby from the outside on Halloween (18w2d), which is super early. But it was a couple of more weeks (Nov 11th) before DH managed to be with me when I felt a big kick. We did manage to see the kicks right then though (we were in bed), and we were on our babymoon by that point, so it felt pretty special. Since then, it's been pretty regular (i.e., every day) but with periods of increased movement followed by little to nothing.
@Loki: I agree, it definitely feels like a rollercoaster or elevator, at times. But I also think it depends on how/where he is kicking for how it feels to me. The worst is when he is kicking my bladder, not at all comfortable!
At my appt last week, I told my doc that I was feeling baby move many times throughout the day, and she said again that it was really early to feel a lot of movement. At 15-16w I had told her I was pretty confident that I could feel movement and she expressed (what seemed to me as doubt, but could just have been more oversensitive preggo hormones acting up) that it was really early, and that while some women are able to feel it that early, it's usually second time moms. But the flutters kept getting stronger until they turned into kicks, so I"m 100%. I did read that thinner women sometimes felt it earlier, and my us tech was able to confirm that I had a posterior placenta.
What is really cute is how often DH asks me if I felt baby at work that day. Sometime he calls me during the day to ask. I don't seem to notice it at work as much, either because I'm moving around and too busy to notice or he finds my job really boring and sleeps most of the day!

@SunshineMcC: we go jan 9! missed that question in my last post! a little nervous after this story of the "million dollar baby" but... it was booked long before i was pregnant!
@delight: so sorry you're still waiting. your daughter is beautiful and crying Santa pictures are my favourite Santa pictures!
@Astro Bee: haha that's so cute, my dh never asks me... but he's excited when i tell him! i just can't wait until he can feel her. i still haven't felt her outside because every time i put my hand where she is, she stops. last night at the dr she listened to the heartbeat and it would be so strong and then baby would move and the dr would have to find it again! it was cute and i didn't realize she was moving so much!
also - dr confirmed my dr google diagnosis... she thinks it's my SI joint and referred me for physio. we'll see if i can find time to get to that!

Unfortunately no good news came my way today. I also have more waiting to do. It is looking like mosaic Turners but they found three different cells lines wih the FISH results. I don't even know how to explain it. One thing for certain is that there is something wrong with the X chromosome. Thanks all for your positive thoughts, I wish I had better news. I don't know how this will all end, hopefully with a healthy and happy baby girl, but I have to sit tight until the full amnio results are back. In the meantime we need to do a fetal echocardiogram. I likely won't be participating much as I am super deflated but I wish you ladies all well and I promise to update.

@delight: I know that's not the news you were hoping for. I'm so sorry all this stress and worry just keeps going for you. I'll be thinking of you.
