    @SunshineMcC: we haven't at all but it's not cuz we were worried. we've just been tired and busy! haha. i wouldn't have even thought it would be an issue but now we will probably wait until we see a heartbeat just because i'm paranoid!

    @lulu22: oooh i hope you get to see the heartbeat!!!

    i had my first appt with my dr yesterday and i'm a bit disappointed. she doesn't do ultrasounds until 9 weeks! so i have a full month to wait. but she is making me do bloodwork so i guess the hcg levels will at least be a confirmation that things are progressing normally (hopefully). so we'll see... i have a friend who is about 10 weeks right now and she had her first ultrasound at 6 weeks and saw the heartbeat so i was totally hoping that would be the case for me

    @loki: I got lots of early ultrasounds at my RE's office last time but I'm sure I'll probably not get one until 10 weeks this time. It's a bummer. Seeing and hearing the heart beat and watching my little gummy bear dance at those ultrasounds were amazing and definitely calmed my nerves.

    On the good side...I can breathe again.

    @loki: They generally don't do early ones unless you don't know your dates or you've had issues in the past or are having issues now.

    @marionberry: Yay for 3+!

    @SunshineMcC: Yes, we are. I was a bit paranoid about it with my second pregnancy, as we MC a few day's after we BD on my first. There's no reason not to unless your doctor tells you to wait.

    @AsTimeGoesBy: I hear you on worrying about symptoms. My breasts aren't as sore this morning as they normally are, but keep reminding myself that my doc said just because a symptom goes away or changes, it doesn't mean anything. But it's still hard!

    @loki: @marionberry: @banana330: thanks for sharing!

    I had the ultrasound and all was well! Such a relief! We could see the embryo and the heartbeat and it measured at 6w1d with a due date of April 6 which was spot on what I had calculated. I'm not sure how fast the heart beat was, but the dr said it was 'normal'. and the clotting has almost all cleared up Phew!

    It was a bittersweet visit though because now the dr has to pass me on to the high risk clinic (I have a heart condition and thyroid issues) so I don't get to see her any more which I am sad about because I LOVED her. I rang up the high risk clinic and they said that now I won't have another scan till week 12 so it looks like my days of weekly scans are over now....

    @dancingbee: yay! I am in south bay (mountain view area) where are you? I am being transferred to the Stanford High Risk Clinic so I will be delivering at LPCH.

    @marionberry: yes, you have to let us know if you are headed SF way and we can meet up!

    @lulu22: Hooray for good ultrasound! Mine is tomorrow and by my tracking I should be exactly on the same pace as you - I'll be 6w2d tomorrow, due date April 6. I'm really hoping to see a heartbeat but I'm nervous about it.

    Tried to book my first Kaiser appointment today. Oh what a comedy of errors.
    - I try to log on to their web portal to book. Of course, I have forgotten my password.
    - I go through the identity verification and password reset process.
    - Once finally logged in I discover that I can't book an initial prenatal visit through the appointment portal; one must call.
    - I call the indicated number and wade through several press one press two menus.
    - It tells me the automated appointment system doesn't handle prenatal visits, I must wait and speak with an appointment specialist.
    - I wait.
    - I talk to the appointment specialist who tells me she doesn't book initial prenatal visits, those are scheduled by the doctor's staff, and that I can expect a call from them within the next 3 hours.
    - I get a call from the office saying I have to go to the Kaiser lab for a pregnancy test before I can schedule.
    - I drove to the lab, peed in a cup, was told I am preggers, and may now book an appointment.
    - The office is closed, but, I can call again tomorrow to book.

    @lilyofthewest: That is absurd.

    @lulu22: Thank you! I feel like what I've read around the boards shows kind of a 50/50 split in people who see a heartbeat at a 6-week ultrasound versus those who don't.

    @lilyofthewest: that is so crazy! I have Kaiser and they did not make me come in for a urine sample. I had to have a phone appt with a nurse before setting up my ultrasound though. How frustrating!
    @Lulu22: so glad you're appt went well! I am in the East Bay Area. We will definitely have to meet

    @lilyofthewest: that is so frustrating, I'm sorry!

    I woke up this morning feeling awful! I have yet to throw up at all but my stomach is a mess and I've had diarrhea every day! I've read that's normal but agh I'm not sure which I'd dislike more!

    Has basic things felt like a chore to anyone else? Eating becomes an obstacle where I have to get myself prepared to eat and stomach what I'm eating. Showering is exhausting and I always have to lay down afterwards, and I've been so tired I haven't exercised in at least a week!

    @dancingbee: Congrats and hi! Sorry to be late to the welcome party.
    @SunshineMcC: Welcome and congrats! To answer your BD question, we've been having sex as usual. My first appointment isn't for another month, so it would be tough for us to wait!
    @Boopers: Eating isn't bad for me yet, but I feel you with the fatigue...I went to bed at 8:30 last night!
    @lilyofthewest: Oh gosh, how frustrating. Dealing with insurance is always the worst.
    @PawPrints: Good luck today!

    Happy to see everyone's appointments going well! I'm thinking about telling my mom this weekend, but DH thinks we need to tell all the parents at the same time, and I'm not ready to tell my in-laws, sooo we shall see.

    @Boopers: I am not yet to the point where everyday tasks feel super difficult (I'm about 4.5 weeks only), so I am just trying to cram in all the exercise I can before I feel gross. With my first pregnancy I REALLY let myself go and it took a super long time to get back. So needless to say, I am extra worried about this pregnancy.

    ETA: For the sex question - we are not, but that's just because I'm lazy and have a low sex drive

    @lulu22: Yah for a great ultrasound and good job on being right on for the due date!

    @Boopers: I feel so crappy! Ugh, the nausea is here to stay. If this is like my pregnancy with DD, I can look forward to feeling this way for another 6-8 weeks.

    And the exhaustion has also set in. Hello 8pm bedtime!

    I got my digital 2-3 weeks today, at 4w5d, while it was processing it flickered 3+ so maybe i'm getting close to that range.

    I had my first really bad sleep night, was up twice to pee, and woke up really early and had hard time going back to sleep plus my dreams were super intense. I'm guessing symptoms will start up sometime next week. til then i'll just have to make the most of feeling ok.

    @lulu22: congrats on the great ultrasound and seeing the heartbeat!

    @pawprints: good luck with your appt! Ours is tomorrow and we'll be 6w4d, so hoping and expecting a heartbeat as well.

    @boopers: my fatigue comes and goes., but when it's bad all I want to do is sleep. I have a Fitbit so have been trying to get 10,000 steps in each day as my exercise. I work downtown Chicago so have been taking walks over lunch here and there, so it adds up! Here's hoping you get your energy back soon!

    Am nervous about the appt tomorrow but trying to be positive and give up my worries to God. I keep comparing appointments to last time when we had a m/c, but am trying to remember that this is a new pregnancy. I found a bracelet this morning I thought I'd lost that has a charm of Mary and the sacred heart on it, so that's giving me strength today.

    Here's hoping we can all take one day at a time !

    Okay so I am joining! Sort of a weird story on my end. I have been monitoring my cycle for a long time, but because I am pp and breastfeeding, I haven't been ovulating at all. I finally ovulated for the first time since having our baby super late into my cycle (day 26) and we managed to BD once when the ovulation test was positive, and that was it. I had a good feeling about it, but thought it was stupid that I had a good feeling about. 8 days later, I got what I thought was my period, which lasted for around 7 days, with two days of lighter but relatively normal seeming flow and the rest brown spotting. On CD 8, I started ovulation testing again, and the ovulation test was blaringly positive. So we bded, and I chalked the early ovulation up to a decrease in breastfeeding, since we had been on vacation and I had been breastfeeding a lot, and the week of my "period" my LO was in daycare so there was a dramatic reduction in breastfeeding frequency. I posted about it in the ttc boards, and someone suggested pregnancy testing. My Amazon order of wondflo ov and preg tests magically arrived shortly thereafter, so I did a pregnancy test at work to clear the slate because I was so certain that it was an early ovulation. And then two lines showed up immediately. And I was all - wtf is wrong with these cheapie tests, telling me I am pregnant? And then it started to occur to me that I might actually be pregnant. So my husband and I and our LO went straight to the doctor, and it was confirmed there. We have a u/s to make sure everything is okay given the bleeding, but it seems like I am pregnant!

    Location: Alberta, Canada

    EDD: April 10

    How far along: 5w5d

    First child? second. LO is 13 months

    First doctor appointment: went yesterday to confirm pregnancy and check on bleeding. Don't currently have another one scheduled, but they're calling today to book me into an ultrasound.

    Any symptoms so far? Now that I know I am pregnant, I am aware that I have been having symptoms! Hot flashes, general emo-ness, preg-somnia, frequent peeing and worse stomach problems that usual!

    Who have you told? We've told our whole immediate families and my bff, which I am aware is a lot of people, but we don't mind untelling them if need be. Oh and my ttc buddy, who is the wife of my husband friend, who is herself 10 weeks pregnant!

    It's so good to see all if the positive appointments!

    @Boopers: getting through everyday has been difficult with the fatigue. I'm in bed early every night but struggling to sleep through the night (peeing, weird dreams, heat wave) so during the day I feel like a zombie

    @SunshineMcC: we haven't been having sex. Between exhaustion and heat waves it's been hard to be motivated

    @Banana330: I think it could go either way, that early on. Good luck! If you're concerned at all, maybe you could ask to have it moved a few days later - I think the likelihood of seeing the heartbeat goes up a lot every day when we're this early on.

    I got a follow-up message saying it was "curious" that the heart rate was only 109 bpm but that "At 6 weeks the heart is just starting to beat so I'm not sure the low heart rate is indicative of anything as yet."

    Well I googled the hell out of early fetal heart rate, and it looks like 109 is exactly on target for 6w1d: http://www.countdownmypregnancy.com/pregnancy/heartbeat.php

    I love my midwifery office but I'm a little irritated at them right now for saying that and freaking me out for no reason.

    @PawPrints: Ya i'll just leave it. They know i'm coming in with two MC under my belt so i'm pretty sure if we don't see one they'll send me for another.

    I hate when they do that! Should they even be sending stuff like that to you? I can see between themselves. Sometimes bedside manner can leave room for improvement.
