    @auggiefrog: Yippee! That's amazing! Keep us posted!

    Y'all! I'm having contractions! Proper ones! They put in a pessary at 1.30am (not the dreaded drip I was so sure I was headed for) and at 3.30am I had my first contraction - it was strong enough to wake me up! It's now 4.30am and I've had three. I sent DH home at 2, I wonder when I should call him back in?!

    @Cherrybee: call your DH whenever you think you need him! If you want to let him get some extra sleep, you could ask a nurse her opinion, or just wait until the contractions are a little closer together. So excited for you!

    @auggiefrog: yay! You're moving in the right direction!

    @Cherrybee: yay for contractions! I would probably call him sooner rather than later, just in case things progress quickly, you don't want him to miss anything. Although you wrote that 6 hours ago, so there's a good chance your little girl might already be here!

    Ugh - I'm 40 +2 today and ready to have this baby (even though we *still* haven't settled on a name - Cy v Lucian - thoughts?). I feel like I'm going down the same road as I did with my daughter, who came 9 days past her due date. I have an U/S this morning and NST. We'll see what the Dr says. I'm going to ask for specific instructions on how to use the breast pump to induce - I'm ready to get things moving!

    @poppygirl15: soon! For what it is worth, I like Cy.

    @poppygirl15: not too much longer! Although I understand. I am not even 38 weeks yet and am impatient so can only imagine being over 40!

    How many syllables is your last name?

    Hi April moms! So I'm at my 36 week appointment and I'm 1.5 cm dilated and 70% effaced Dr said it's good, that I probably won't go past my due date, but I'm wondering if I'll also be an April mom!? (Due May 5) I'm a FTM so have no idea what those numbers mean. Also baby is only measuring 32 wks based on fundal height so I'm about to go into an ultrasound...

    @bloved: our last name is 2 syllables. Daughter's name is June.
    @maisymay: thanks!

    @bloved: thanks! That's what I'm leaning towards, too. But my husband is worried it's too short and sounds like the weapon sai.

    @YogiRunner: Hi! The dilation is how open your cervix and the effacement is how thin. I hate to say it but they don't indicate when labor will start as some women can stay dilated 1-2 cm for a few weeks. But it is a promising start!

    @Cherrybee: can't wait to hear an update!
    @poppygirl15: I love both names! Maybe you'll know which one is perfect as soon as you see him?
    Going past your due date is so rough! I hope you get good results from using your pump!
    @YogiRunner: cervical checks drove me nuts with my first pregnancy. You can walk around effaced and dilated for weeks and you can also go from closed up an minimal effacement to active labor in a few hours. The good news is that your body is definitely getting ready for baby to arrive! I hope the last little bit of your pregnancy is easy and that you're able to get some rest!

    Can't wait for Cherrybees baby update! Surely she's had her by now. We are thinking of you!!!!
    I'm in full blown cleaning and organizing mode as I have 3 days left!!! My hubby and I took Lo out for breakfast and now we're having fun re-arranging and de-cluttering.

    @MaisyMay: yes he had fun and we enjoyed ourselves too Love me some French Toast! Yum!!!
    So I'm packing my hospital bag l, getting car seat installed and finishing things up so I can just chill the last 2 days. I just remembered I never got a baby book! Ahh! Off to do some shopping!
    Still thinking about Cherrybee and hope your doing well!!!

    @YogiRunner: more the merrier!

    39 week appointment today. Still no cervical check since I have had only one or two Braxton Hicks. The doctor also listened for any skipped heartbeats- all good there too!

    I'm really hoping for an Aries baby. Today was my grandma's bday; the baby has her maiden name as his middle. Tomorrow is DH's bday. FIL is also an Aries, but a March one.

    @akcoffeebean: I always swore I'd never wait until I met the baby to pick the name, but I think that might be just what we end up doing!
    @jh524: Have a fabulous weekend! So exciting that you'll be posting baby pictures in just about 48 hours!!
    @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Hope your baby is cooperative.

    My appointment today was fine - NST was normal (and showed no contractions) and heart beat was fine. I still have a good amount of amniotic fluid, but might drink some electrolyte-filled drinks to help those levels stay up. Next appointment is Monday.

    So I think my water broke, but I'm not sure. And of course it's 3 in the morning here and I should call, but I'd rather wait a few more hours to see if anything else develops. I got a few squirts, or small gushes of a clear colorless liquid that caused me to change my panty liner twice before bed. Then as I was trying to fall asleep (I was so freaking tired I couldn't think of anything else), I got another larger gush that caused me to change the pad again, along with my underwear and sleep pants. (Think overfilled pad wet, not I'm three and I peed my pants wet). I've gotten up once more to change my liner since then. I'll call the on-call doctor in the morning, I just want to hear what anyone that might be awake thinks. Did my water break? I'm not having contractions, and I'm really hoping they start soon if this is it, so I can feel better about calling and going in.

    @auggiefrog: yay! I would call the doctor. Last time my water broke at night and I waited all night for contractions and then called the doctor whol told me to go to the hospital. They confirmed my water broke and decided to induce me since I was 39 weeks 6 days. The doctor said I should have called when my water broke but I told her I didn't think I needed to since there were no contractions. I think the longer you go after your water breaks there is an increase risk of infection so I think you may be having a baby this weekend! Keep us posted.

    @auggiefrog: sounds like water breaking to me!

  28. auggiefrog

    kiwi / 631 posts

    @bloved: yeah.
    I'll call in a bit. It's a huge system, so I'm sure it's just a doctor sitting at his desk somewhere. But I still feel so guilty calling this early. And I just wish I could get some constant contractions. I didn't want to go into the hospital just to sit around and wait to labor. But it seams this one has other plans.

    persimmon / 1114 posts

    @auggiefrog: I understand! I hate calling the doctor line and would rather labor at home too. Have you tried walking or anything to see if you can get contractions going (around your halls I guess since it's so early!).
    My sister had to be induced after he water broke because she did not start contracting, and it was actually her fastest labor of her 3 (so fast she did not have time for an epidural), so hopefully even if the contractions don't start,
    You will have a fast / easy labor when you get to the hospital.

    kiwi / 631 posts

    @bloved: That's great to know. I'm just so worried about not contracting and eventually getting sent for an emergency c-section. But considering I wasn't even dilated Tuesday, and I lost my mucus plug on Thursday, everything seams to be moving pretty smoothly. I just need to have faith that the drugs will do the trick and my body will start contractions sooner rather than later.

    @auggiefrog: its 7 am over here, is it too early to call yet where you are? My docs said they have 24 hours to deliver a baby once the water breaks. Hoping you get plenty of time to labor how you want!

    @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: Thanks, I'm just about to call. It's just past 6 here. I feel *less* guilty now.

    @auggiefrog: sounds like your water broke and I would go in because of risk of infection. With my first my water broke around like midnight but contractions didn't start for a while after that and he wasn't born until around 4pm the next day.

    Good luck and thinking of you!

    Thanks girls. I just called. They told me to come on in so they could check the fluid, but said that I didn't need to rush. I could get breakfast and take a shower first. So I got DH into the shower and I think I'll ask him to stop to get a bagel on the way.

    I'm so sleepy. I might have gotten an hour or two of sleep last night, and only a few hours the night before. And I doubt I'll get any at the hospital.

    My water did indeed break, so I've been admitted. I'm barely dialated, so it's going to be a long day.
